so that is the reason for your high screen time
what is your charger model ? UCH12 ?
if it is uch12 so you are using fast charge

yep
im getting 8-9 hours with 3-3.5 hours of asphalt 8 gameplay on high graphics, one or two movies on youtube, full low brightness (35% on movies in YT), heavy facebook usage. and a lot of other things like video editing, whats, HG,G+ etc etc.
uninstalled all useless system and user apps. added play services in doze mode. reduced background activity and background data on all user and system apps.
using 1890x3360 resolution (to fix touch issues).
Im on oreo (.51) with storms DRM Fix/kernel, I used serajrs debloat script to get rid of all the useless apps, 8.45 hours with 13% left, this phone is a beast! Mobile data all day, stamina on performance, some YouTube, lots of browsing, telegram msg's, couldnt ask for better.
So are you guys getting these insane screen on times due to root? If so what are you doing to achieve this?
If not rooted what are you doing to get these kind of screen on times

Hi,
My device isn't rooted and this is what I do to get the most out of the battery...
1. I try to never allow the battery to get hot in order to prolong its excellent performance. If you're charging your phone, don't run heavy draining apps as this will greatly increase the battery's temperature. When charging my phone, I usually set stamina mode to always on and if I'm not expecting important phone calls I sometimes activate airplane mode. If you want to make and receive calls just turn off Bluetooth, wife, data and GPS while the phone is plugged in to keep the battery temperature down.
2. I used to love the Juice Defender app which was able to automatically turn off Wife/Data whenever the screen is off but sadly it hasn't been updated in so many years. Now I just manually turn off WiFi and Data whenever the phone is not in use.
3. If you're watching an offline film or reading a book, turn off your WiFi and Data. Again, if you're not looking to make calls activate Airplane Mode as this tends to lessen the battery drain especially when watching 4k movies.
4. Delete any apps that you don't use. Especially the power hungry apps!
5. I only tend to set brightness to the lowest setting when I'm in a very dark room. There's no point in always having it so low in broad daylight like a disorientated cave-dweller.
6. When you go to bed, activate stamina mode (if you want to save more juice then also activate Airplane Mode) and just make sure that it won't affect your alarm in the morning. ?
That's pretty much it for me I guess. Rooting voids the warranty and that's not something I want to do so I'm happy with my current usage and performance.
Hope this helps!

You can also try to turn off the phone, this will bring excellent battery life :cyclops:
Just kidding :silly:
By the way, root seems to improve a lot the phone, but I have Amazon warranty and would be a shame to lose it for rooting the phone

Hahahahaahahhaha
Yes that's one of the reasons why I'm not too keen on rooting. Rooting the device will also cause some issues that currently have no fix available so I'm good for now.
I can capture excellent stills and beautiful 4k footage. I get around 9-10 hours of screen on time with moderate to heavy use. Everything works as it should so I'm very happy with that.
3.5 hrs loosing 40%
I think for normal daily usage xzp got between 7-8 hrs
The seco d day reached [email protected]% of battery
Well, by my own experience, going out to work at 7:00, getting home at about 18:30 (plus commuting, as I was doing it in the bus too), I was reading an EPUB the whole day (Moon Reader+), black background with white text, the app prevents the screen from turning off, and I hardly had any reason besides lunch break to turn it off, I noticed I had forgotten the cable at the end of lunch break and took out brightness to about 35%, enough to be readable for me, it was on auto until them, no stamina mode either.
I got home with about 40% of battery left. I was quite surprised with my results.
Can get more than 20 hrs of SOT now
Look @The screenshoti taked after long day
5.5 hrs of SOT and 47% battery remaning
I get an average of 6 1/2 hours SOT with heavy gaming and brightness set to around 30%
Otherwise 2-3 days standby with medium to little use. I am impressed.
Ps. When gaming, is the screen running in 1080P or 4k?? How can we tell?

Thanks for clearing that. This means that we only get 4k when viewing 4k movies? However, by default we are getting 1080p which includes gaming.
It would be nice if we could run games in 4k. Why have a 4k screen which is only running 1080P?
Same as buying a 4k TV/Monitor and gaming at 1080P. :crying:
At least we should have an option to change resolution like a PC when gaming, would make sense.Even gaming at 1440P would look amazing. Some games have visible jagged edges which would be eliminated if running at resolutions higher than 1080P...

hey could you please us all how much you paid for the PC that lets enjoy 4k gaming? and how much room it takes.
I'm not trying to underestimate the power of Snapdragon 835, but you surely don't understand that even GTX 1080 doesn't play all the games flawlessly in 4K

Hey, I bought the HTC One V about a month ago from Amazon (unlocked) and I looked up recently that the battery is supposed to hold up a maximum of two days, unfortunately, mine holds for barely a day (about 10 hours) most of the time the phone is just sitting on my table with his screen locked, but for two-three hours I play games such as Dead Space, Anomaly Warzone HD (Or whatever it's called) and so on, not your typical "angry birds gamer", a little web browsing here and a quick overview of the Play Store. So I would like to know if my battery is in fact a defect, maybe these games are just super power consuming due to the fact that the One V has to struggle to make them work properly because of his slow hardware, Or maybe I'm just missing something,
My Wifi is almost always off by the way, I'm using my data plan for 90% of internet related stuff, brightness is always on auto, and gps, bluetooth and all that are 99% of the day are off as well.
Thanks in advance!
Nope, theres wrong with it.

Ah, ok then,good to know.
thank you very much!
Dont use auto brightness,it consumes more power that way cause of sensor usage, just keep the widget on home screen and adjust it as per needs, lees brightness means less power.
Wifi actualy consumes less power(if you have decent steady signal) then mobile data.
And yea,games eats battery.
When you get root, flash the custom kernel and do not overclock, just use it for setting governor smartass v2...
Remember..battery life is always depending on user, and few settings.
There are few more things, but you will find out you self.
Most likely your battery drains while you're playing games. I always turn on my wifi and autosync in my house and work place. playing drag racing online for about 2 hours, phone calling etc. My phone lasts for 19 hours

and you will be back to nokia 3310.
seriously, you have a smartphone, use it like one!
don't turn off all the things and make it dumb phone. i use autobrightness because it is better when you are outdoor and autobrightness is dimming your screen when it is night or you are in your house with no light, the phone will become less brightness and that's a good thing for battery. widgets are indeed consuming power but if you set the governor to lionheart / smartass v2, that should be ok.

How's your wifi and 3g signal? Do you always get at least 4 bars? You can try tips from Iceb0x to find governor that match your habbit. Browsing with poor wifi/3g signal will drain your battery even faster. I only have few apps running on the background though. twitter, whatsapp, gmail, yahoo, weather, xda, and play sore I guess.
maybe you are not even conscious that you have same issue as I do: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834894

I use 'his way' and it lasts a day.
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
Let's see... I flash like 10 or maybe 15 CM10 test builds per day, my battery lasts 1 and a half day.
On normal usage, wifi, mostly calls, sms, little gaming - it lasts 2 days and a half... +- 1-2 hours.
I got the LG G4 last week and every time I game on the phone, it uses 38% of my battery or so per hour. Is this normal? Nothing else uses much battery, the gaming optimizer is on and I've disabled extra apps I don't need.
I also notice my phone gets too hot to touch sometimes when playing a game.
At this rate I only get a little over 2 hours of use on a fully charged phone, which is crazy.
I have the Tmobile version, if that matters.
Does this happen to anyone else? My Samsung S4 and Xperia Z3 Compact had MUCH better gaming time than my G4. Maybe I have a dud?

Sounds about right if its an intense game. It has to push 2k pixels, where as the s4 and z3 has much fewer. I kept having weird glitches with the game optimizer on playing final fantasy record keeper, so I turned it off and things worked fine. For that game it was probably closer to 30% an hour for me. I also have my brightness 35% or less too. Try turning off the game optimizer and see what happens. What is your brightness?

Is there any way to lower the pixel density so it doesn't have to push such high quality graphics? Another person said they thought the g4 is a terrible option for gaming because it has a bad GPU and that might be why it gets hot as well. I tend to play games on my phone alot when I'm waiting for something or bored so losing 38% battery an hour makes the phone a terrible fit for me. I have 14 days to return it, so I'm thinking about getting a phone like the s5 or something.
I'll try turning the optimizer off and see if that changes anything. My brightness depends on where I am but at home i keep it at about 30%.
Lower the graphics quality in the game and turn down the brightness, you can't do much more.
And 40% sounds completely reasonable.
This is what I noticed playing Juice Jam. It drains fast with auto brightness (50%). I'll try disabling game optimizer and see if it does anything.
Not much you can do except fiddle with the brightness.
And you're correct with the G4 not being a good gaming device. The GPU isn't exactly the greatest but still formidable. But with that 1440p screen, you can't expect magic. I would only do minor casual gaming on this thing (ie. Checking up on village in COC sort of thing with a few raids), nothing intense. Otherwise you would need a different phone. The Sony Xperia (Z3 I think?) are good for gaming with their insane battery life. S6 would be your next best bet.
Jumped here only to mention the Z3 battery life ... It is worth every penny when it comes to screen on time. By the end of the day it hits 5~6 hours of sot mainly gaming where as the g4 hardly gets 3~4 hours of moderate use.
Currently own both the Z3 and the G4 and both in dual SIM versions too
Sent from my LG-H818 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes, you can lower the pixel density. That will probably cause some UI inconsistencies throughout the phone, but most things should work, but from seeing it on the Note 4, a lot of things won't as well.
I'd say, don't fret. You're getting 2 hours of playing games on your phone... If you picked the G4 for THAT reason, return it. Surely there are better phones, as mentioned, the Z3 has great battery life - probably the best for a phone its size. There's also the OPO and the Zen Mate 7. All have GREAT battery life, but of course, lack in other features.
Would I have preferred a 1080p screen? Yes! Why do I need a higher quality screen in my phone than in my living room? Lol. Is there anything I can do about this now that we already have this 2k screen frenzy? Nope. Even the next Sony device us rumored to jump onto its bandwagon as well...
Hi.
So purchased note 10 plus exynos a month ago.
Just wanted to find out other user experiances to help me to decide if I need to send phone away or my expectations ware too high.
So 1st would be camera specificly anything recorded at 60fps 4k and 1080p.
Indoors with good lighning anything at 60fps recording looks blurry and unfocused compared to 30fps.
Disabled scene optimizer and stabilization still same blurry results at 60fps
If its possible to someone record a 4k60fps video indoor for me to help to compare.
And the 2nd would be battery life.
Not charging over the night .But usualy charge it once I wake up.Waking up at 6.30 and taking phone of charger and leaving home at 8am.Around 16.00 I am left with 30% battery with 4h OST used no gaming just music streaming ,browsing internet and youtube.
Most apps are set to sleep ,battery to optimized ,screen brightness at 40% ,no Bluetooth,NFC ,4g just wifi /NO auto sync /no AOD .
As well using naptime to doze up system when on idle.
My old S8 plus with custom rom had better battery life and with 4k60 cam mode even better recoding.
As well did factory reset on the phone.
Might be something wrong I am doing ?
Any help would be appriciated
You got a lemon. Return it and get a replacement.
For the battery part, i'm on a exynos model, i can confirm i have the same ****ty battery idle drain as yours (5SOT max). Aprox 2% per hours on idle with some tweaks to improve it, and i've already did 2 factory reset, and tracked everything that could drain the battery with BBS ! That's horrible... But i'm getting 10% drain with the screen on, which is good (9hrs of SOT theoritically)
Awesome my luck has been against me for these couple months .Sent monitor for repair arrived damaged none took the blame that was 700euro in trash.
Now I spoiled myself with flagship phone witch makes me miss my S8 plus.
Guess will send it to repair service next week and wait 10 long days till I get it back.Bad part that here in ireland all the repair services even those witch are sponsored by Samsung is crap.

You can reduce standby drain to 1% per hour by choosing the medium power saving mode, and you won't notice much difference in the performance ( I even keep always on display on)

Here are my screen on time results with 60hz and FHD. Just experimenting with different settings to see the results. Honestly I don't feel battery is bad with auto resolution and QHD either I feel like this phone does very well on battery.
Not as good as the 6t but, it's pretty good.
Looking even more like the 6t screen on times now!

My last screen shot was wifi, lte, no 5g, fhd, 60hz, printing service off, find my device off and I believe that's it. Honestly I don't see a dramatic difference in screen quality with these setting either. It's noticeable but definitely not THAT noticeable and honestly it's worth it if you need your phone to last for long periods between charges.

I was getting quite good battery life on 10.0.19 but battery has taken a pretty good hit since the 10.0.25 update. I may try factory reset to see if that helps.
I'm pretty sure people with bad battery live have 90hz on and 5g on. And so do I, I get about 4-5hrs sot in a whole day of usage, between WiFi and 5g .. light gaming, texting, Instagram, Facebook, messenger and some other apps.

That is actually not entirely true, I have the European variant of McLaren without 5G modem I this is by far the worst SOT I ever experienced on an OnePlus device. And I have had them since the beginning. I can barely scrape up 4h - 4.5h SOT over an 24-48h time period
on a full charge cycle. Note I'm not even on stock kernel so I would expect SOT be up 8-10h without any bigger problems. What I'm trying to make out if my battery is bad or the complete phone, and if that would come to that I would return it to the seller in flash.
Batt stats and kernel logs show active drain between 8-10% per hour and idle drain to 1.5-2.5% per hour. Numbers don't say much to me however active drain seems very high to me. I know that the display consumes a lot for sure but I'm not really sure if this is too high or not.
I'm on FHD+ resolution but with 90Hz refresh rate and adaptive background light. To summarize it all, I'm hugely disappointed with my device in perspective of battery life. Feel free to drop comments or suggestions on what I can do. Perhaps give some figures on idle and active
drain if you have them.

on a full charge cycle.

Your battery life is pretty normal. Mine is around 5 to 9 hourss it's not the kernal but the rom and screen that uses up the bsttery
Install doze to lower ur idle time.

The problem is the 5G modem is pretty much on all the time. Even if not in use. There isn't really any way to actually turn it off. (Unless you get really creative and make your own firmware...)

Did anyone try to select only 2G/3G/4G in Preferred Network type and then check the battery life/ drain?
I'm wondering what kinda battery life you get on the zfold3. When I opened youtube with the big screen on my accusatory app says it dr omegle ains 32%/hr does anyone else have any knowledge of if this is normal rate or high? I got it on ebay so I'm trying to make sure that everything is running as expected.
...
Also if I open lifeafter and play it while fast charging the back of the phone gets really realty hot! Think it was in the 120-130° range xender and screen goes really dim. Anyone else experience this on any slightly more demanding games?
When I watch videos on YouTube with the Fold open I have the same behavior as you, I reduced this by forcing the refresh to 48hz on the videos. For games I don't know, however it consumes when open.
Use manual brightness control and keep below 50% Display brightness sucks a lot of battery.
Using dark mode and wallpaper helps too.
Black pixels use no power... darker ones use a lot less.
Once the OS learns your usage patterns, you should experience much better battery life. That usually take around a month or 2.

Lol, it never worked that I saw. Google global power management and it's tarded buckets will also cause erratic behaviors that can't be resolved unless you turn it off.
Hand optimizing is better, harder to do... but it works.
