Yeah even in low light it performs better.
I will share some pics taken to show the quality.
Selfie quality is moderate. A little noisy at times.

Well, that's how photography in low light works. The shutter speed is increased sometimes up to 1/8 s, which roughly translates to 8 fps. That ain't smooth.
the rear camera's quite well, but I hate the fix focus on the front camera.
way tooooooooooo much sharpening in Auto mode......I got the Samsung sensor.
Got a stunning shot of the stars with a 10s exposure. All I can say about this camera is wow.
I think the camera in low light (almost without light) works pretty well.
you can look at this, I was amazed ...
postimg.org/image/refmvvrwr/
It's good but it doesn't touch the LG G4/G5 in low-light, especially since max exposure is 10 seconds on this compared to 30 on the LG devices.
Very good in photos, good in videos but only at 30fps (that's normal, physics applies :3)
The only feature I'd love to get is to use for example 4 pixels for each pixel when recording at 1080p, like that, each pixel is 4 times bigger and gets 4 times more light. It also could be useful in photos but the quality loss will be noticeable (but not in videos)
Very good.

The low-light capture capabilities are very nice! I've compared with an iphone x, and it blows it out of the water in dark sceneries. Not bad for an old phone ...

I would not say it blew it out of the water buts it's a shame to see apple using what I believe to be the s7 camera sensor in the new iPhone XS
With the latest Google hdr cam with the right settings it does wonderfully

I prefer the gcam port, but I'll sometimes use the Samsung camera for the long exposure. Here are 2 photos I took with the s7 (edited in photoshop).
Looking good

Camera quality is great on any OxygenOS ROM. Front selfie cam also is very clear and well designed. Love it so far after a month or so of usage.

Uh ... very few 'flagship' phones have a front flash, even today. I'd have preferred a dual tone REAR flash ... but meh, it still works.
I'll admit it, the dog is really tough to get in a photo without blur. He doesn't sit still much. But I like this one.

For me the lack of dual tone flash isnt a big deal, as I rarely use the flash even in low light conditions.
They should have done the front flash the same way as Snapchat did it, making the screen go bright white while taking the picture.

I agree. It's a simple software trick, and LG used it on the G4 as well.
I've found the selfie quality to be really good.
you really have to keep it steady otherwise it'll not be a nice picture. because you see every little movement later on.

Guys I get really noisy selfies at even moderate indoor lighting.. Shooting upto 1500 to 5000iso..any problem with my device???
Also the general selfie quality is lesser than my g4 in good lighting too the background subjects r blurry.. I'm on 3.2.6 is it a firmware issue

They can still do this, right? Isn't it software-based?
Whenever i try to take group selfies, the front subject(person holding the phone) comes out sharp and others at the back are blurred out. Why?? Are you guys facing the same problem? Please help

What? Its not a joke. Just go through threads over here/OnePlus forums about camera quality.
here is one: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/op3-camera-blurry-after-post-processing-oos-3-2-7.470510/
And that is for rear cam too. Selfie cam is the worst.
I don't know about the issues you all are facing, but for me my OP3 has one the best front facing cameras. Whenever we are out in a group, they always borrow my phone. 17.3 GB out of the 54GB is all selfies.

Excuse the torn bed sheets xD
It doesnt matter. But no, the quality shouldnt be influenced by that, though. :good:

I am very impress by the selfie quality...it comes with some nice little neat features that I have come to enjoy....if you use snapchat camera, you will feel right at home. Honor is aiming to attract the "younger" generations and the selfie camera does JUST that. But hey, if you are not into smoothing out those wrinkles, shrinking your cheeks, making your eyes "pop" and detect your "good" side, a simple snap will be just fine.

The front facing selfie camera is OK. I wouldn't say that it's the best selfie camera that I have seen on a mobile device. But then again most flagship selfie camera sensors aren't very good ether.

Its called Shape Correction. Well at least that's what it is called on my Sprint variant.
worst selfie camera ever with the distortion, lack of sharpness, and terrible quality
shape correction is off by default on Sprint version
I broke the camera when I took a selfie No seriously, stop taking selfies, look in a mirror
My camera is broken. It makes me look too good.
Not a sharp/crisp image at all. No idea what the auto focus is looking at but it's not me. I tried turning off HDR, all the effects, etc and just never could get anything NEAR as clean as what my 6P produces with great consistency.
Check out this side by side. The difference is staggering. 6P is not as bright but way too much post processing being done.

It's bad and also sucks on snapchat too even worse on snapchat. As is every android phones.
About snapchat, it's bad on every android phone unfortunately, every company such Samsung needs to customise their phones to work well with the app like they did with Instagram for example, otherwise selphie quality is really great especially when there is good light, otherwise it's ok I would say about average/medium
its amazing im a old tosser but using this phone I look like a greek god
does the one ui 2.1 update make the selfie camera better?
I like the quality of the selfie, it`s really cool!
The selfie quality on mine is terrible, even my S7 is better..
Dull Color
Always grainy
Disappointed
No matter what you do you cannot get rid of some sort of beauty effect in selfie mode. I use MiX camera for selfies. Much better than our stock camera.
Finally
One UI 3 beta 1 fixes the beauty effect
