I recently ordered a Lenovo P2 from banggood, and expect to get it still this week or the next. Meanwhile I have a few doubts, and I thought this is the best place to ask, so please bear with me...
1 - On the description, banggood says it's multilanguage (includes screenshots), but I can see no reference to it being a242 or c72. If it is c72, is there a way to change it to a242?
2 - Also, on the product comments, they say the device has custom firmware, which I don't really like, so I want to flash the most recent official firmware. Where can I find it?
3 - About boot unlocking: if the device is shipped with a custom ROM, should I presume the boot is already unlocked? How can I know if it's locked or unlocked?
4 - Lastly (!): what's the current best ROM for the P2, regarding battery (if not the official ROM)?
Thank you very much in advance for your patience and answers!
1) Yes, there is an thread explaining just that.
2) It will be available at XDA itself .Do some searching.
3) It probably is unlocked. It you want to check settings>about>build number (tap 7 times to enable developer options)>you can see the status there.
4) There are quite some ROMs for the device
1. Resurrection remix
2. AOSP extended
3. AICP
4. Lineage OS
But all the custok ROMs have LED and low call volume and no VOLTE support as a common bug.
But there is a third party solution for LED.

Well to do it, it's very simple, if you're on Windows just follow up this link:
If you are running Ubuntu or an Ubuntu based distro on your machine the process is different, and it's more complicated for a new comer.
So in order to make it simply for the user i released this zip containing an automate script so just run Zenfone2Root.sh into a terminal window and leave it work.

Q10: I have unlocked bootloader and i want to upgrade my stock ROMIf you are on stock ROM and you got unlocked bootloader you are able to update your phone only and only if you didn't touched any system files, like xposed, root etc.. Q12: What's the difference between dirty and clean flash?Maybe you will be heard this many times on the forum,or if you didn't heard well i will tell you what's this all about:

Well if you're unlocking your bootloader by the "Unofficial method" made by us on XDA Asus will not have the possibility to track your phone (Warranty things), so if you're unlocking the bootloader with the Unofficial method Asus will not directly know that your warranty is lost but if you're doing it with the official method then yes.

Stock android on ZF2
Hi.
Thank you very much for the super informative post. I am going to buy a ZF2 and I want to check if it is possible to run stock Android in this device. This is more an option for me and not a necessity. I just do not like customizations such as ZenUI, HTC Sense, TouchWiz and so. I have chosen this model for the price vs functionality otherwise I know that I could go for a Nexus model or a Motorola device that run on near stock android.
Thank you again.
P. S. I have never rooted any of my android devices so far. I am not familiar with the process and I always have the fear that I may brick my device.

Hello guys, I've just purchased a Z2 from Gearbest and was wondering whether to flash the existing rom or not. Out of your knowledge, which are the best roms available 1) for stability and home button funtionality (despite maybe having Android M), 2) best Nougat rom (is Unofficial Cyano 14.1 worth it?).
I am a person who flashes custom ROM on my AS SOON AS I get my new phone, like in the first hour here is what I've learnt and I would suggest to you:
1. Use your phone with pre-installed ROM for at least a week. Do not be bothered about software issues, but pay close attention to hardware issues. As I've learnt on forums, pre-installed Z2 ROM does not support OTA. If that's the case,
2. Go to official ZUK forums and download the latest official ROM and flash it. Use it for another week looking out for any hardware issues. You can also download phone tester apps from play store.
2B. If you find any hardware issues, make use of your warranty and get it fixed.
3. Only when you're sure that your new phone is free from any hardware issues, flash a custom rom.
In terms of ROMs, it's best to start with CyanogenMod (Now LineageOS) before you try something else. LineageOS builds have just started, but if you give it a week or two, Z2 builds should come.

Hi, I'm in the same situation as you. Purchased mine on January 16th also from Gearbest. It's been 10 days already and I can't wait for it.
I think I'm gonna flash the official rom first and then wait a bit. A lot is happening right now for this device, and many new roms are beeing released so we can be sure that we'll have many options in a few weeks. And since I'm seriously considering going google free with this phone I'll take my time.
Lets keep in touch when our phones arrive.
Cm is good , check Mokee both are good
First of all I would like to thank everyone in this forum for their kindness and resourcefulness.
I am sorry for asking questions that have already been discussed and for mixing up issues of different nature.
I am considering of getting a k5 European version a6020a40 s415. It's cheap, reliable and it has a removable battery. I am puzzled by the amount of complexity related to flashing custom ROM s on it.
1. How complex is the process of installing and accessing TWRP? Is it just a matter of enabling the option (unlock bootloader) in the developers options and then flashing it in adb model (after unlocking the bootloader)? I've seen desperate questions about this. Is it feasible?
2. Can I flash ROMs that can be used as daily drivers (I.e. no strange glitches and\or unexpected reboots\FCs)?
A. Is the camera working on them? (Stock or third party)?
B. Is FM radio working on them? (Stock or third party)?
C. Is OTG mode working for external drives and/or external DACs?
1) First installation of TWRP is possible using ADB after some changes in developer options, but in some cases generate bootloop. In my device, i fix the problem after of one day.
2) AOKP ROM can be easily updated and for me no presents any problem.
A) Stock camera is related problems for much users, is needed install third party. My device has Open Camera software.
B) FM radio not work in AOKP and i also desire know any rom what be functional.
C) Yes.

Thank you
It's not necessary to unlock bootloader to flash twrp if you have root access then you can use a flashing app to flash twrp using root without unlocking bootloader
Hi. I recently bought RN5 AI and I am pretty happy with what I have for this price range, I am happy with MIUI 10 but I feel that I like the stock Android experience better, so I have some questions regarding this :
1- if someday I want to sell the device and lock the bootloader again, will it show on the bootloader status as locked or RELOCKED?
2- does the latest magisk work on MIUI 10? And does Xposed work as well?
3- do custom ROMs in general feel smoother than MIUI 10? And is multitasking better overall?
4- What is the main disadvantage? and what should I look for when I unlock the bootloader?
.
Thanks a lot in advance, I hope I can get all the answers I need from you guys, this forum is the only place I can find those answers.

1. EDL flashing via MiFlash has "CLEAN all and LOCK" button which flashes ROM and LOCK B/L but only authorized ACCOUNTS can do EDL flashing and bad news is in order to enter into EDL mode, two points on motherboard required to be touched by wire/metal and simultaneously usb should be inserted
2. Magisk YES, xposed NO
3. YES but in all roms whatsapp and fb messenger calling/hearing voice notes etc, closes the screen for 2/3 seconds , don't know why
4. your device become more dependent on you and too many options of new roms/kernel/mods keep you always on toes to flash more and more and again and again! i found it addictive! , also your device become insecure, and anyone can extract your data (if you didnt set finger scanner on custom rom) then you /data paritition is not encrypted and your privacy is at risk
but at the end! for me, its learning experience and if I am only gonna keep Droid on locked bootloader , never test rom, never tweak fone and have fun with it...... then i should better buy iphone
Hi, I know most of these questions were answered hundreds of times, but I want to be sure.
1. Which ROM is more stable currently: Lineage OS 17.1 or PixelExprience Plus Edtion 10.0?
2. Does S-View Cover work?
3. Does Widevine DRM L1 work? (Netflix in 1080p)
4. Is this good to install afterward custom kernel (like Project Rise)?
5. Is there any official guide on how to install TWRP+LOS/PixelExperience+Magisk+(Anything really necessary) for dummies?
6. Does IMEI preserve installing custom ROM or need to be restored somehow?
7. What does mean Knox 0x1? Can there be any troubles with any anti-tamper mechanisms?

Hi
Some great questions. Always good to have as much information as possible.
I'll kick things off, and my friends @Simon1511 @SnowFuhrer @Option58 @sheepkill15 and @letsmakecakes will add to this, I'm sure.
1. Any of the ROMs on offer at the moment have their strengths and weaknesses. There is no direct answer here. My advice would be try them all and find your comfort zone. Personally, I enjoyed crDroid as I liked the customisation aspect.
2. I'm not sure how far @corsicanu got with this, so not sure
3. I don't believe the A520 is supported
4. Certain kernels are only compatible with certain ROMs. There will be guidance on the individual kernel threads and/or ROM threads.
5. There are MANY guides on the forums. Best practice would be to read, re-read, read again, ask questions.
6. Unless you screw something up, IMEI will remain intact.
7. Knox 0x1 is a trip. Means that the efuse on the motherboard has burnt. This is a security measure hardwired into this device series (and others!). Which basically renders things like Secure Folder and Samsung Pass useless (if my memory is correct).
I hope that helps to start with. Others will be along to help.
Any questions...just ask
