I know there is a US keyboard fix for this phone and for the Windows Mobile 6.1 platform. I have tried that fix quite a few times and I STILL can't use my @ symbol. It's doing some weird ASCII symbol instead. Every other key works just fine just not my @ key. I'm getting aggravated as hell when I can't even set up my freaking internet connection because I need the @ to do it!!

It's not TMobile it's AT&T and I already installed the RUU_Excalibur_WM61_Kavana_080314_WWE.exe file. The only key I'm having issues with even before the fix is the @ key. Everything else worked before I even installed the fix.

Doesn't matter what network it is, read the noob guide and dowload Tegic eT9 install and reboot....

lol How are you going to call me a noob when obvious you can't read a post? I plainly stated that I already installed Windows Mobile 6.1 and the US keyboard fix that you mentioned already. I'm far from a noob. This is the only problem I have ran into that I couldn't fix on my own but I can see I have completely wasted my time here when a senior member of a forums can't even read a thread. You might want to take a look in the mirror and you might actually see the noob you are talking about.
first off, he said "noob guide", he didnt call you a newbie. I have gone there for files before and I am far from a newbie as well.
Second off, if the keymap isnt working, why not just edit your own keymap. At least look at it and see whats going on. If the values are correct, it may be a hardware issue.

Screenshot App Help!
Dunno why but it stopped working suddenly. Between one screenshot and the next something happened now it just says "Screenshot.raw file not found" and doesnt take the screenshot. I use the timer method. Any ideas?

uinstall and reinstall?
try to see if it still has super user rights
try to post in the screenshot thread so that the person that wrote the app can see that there was a random problem
just reboot
The app is bad,did you install a theme because this has happened to me a bunch of times,reinstalling the app wont work you need to install what ever JF build your using and it will work just fine.
If you did install a theme which theme is it?
Since the Screenshot App refused to work for me (>_>) I had to find a different way to do it which many of you probably already know about and is the way all those websites obtained screenshots of the G1 before release.
You can do it via a tool in the SDK called DDMS. You need to have the JDK installed first! You need to have your G1 plugged in via USB (but not mounted). Enable Debugging in the Settings > Applications menu and then you can open up DDMS. Once it starts select your device from the menu on the left (yours should be the only one and you really dont have to select anything. Then simply press CTRL+S and your screenshot is taken. A new window will open asking you to save, cancel, etc. It saves it in .png format in a location of your choice.
Just thought I would share.
Also, worth mentioning. The site I got this information from suddests having a IDE installed but I didnt and it worked just fine. Dont ask me what an IDE is cuz I dont know >_>

I had mentioned previously about the Screenshot app not working for me (kept saying a file was missing) and no one mentioned an alternate method. Again, I was fairly sure everyone already knew about this but I still felt it worth mentioning for those like myself who may not have known.
Sry to have made a redundant post. Not my intention. I just like to share my findings and try to be as helpful as possible to people.

It's not that it's forbidden, but if someone uses message boards, it is assumed that one knows how to use the search function. It's just like on a job, if you are asked the same question over and over and over and it's something that it's documented already, that would annoy you, right? That is all.
I didn't actually ask a question. I just posted up what I found. And I am very well versed in searching. I found what I was looking for didn't I? But I couldn't find any results for it in XDA of all those I looked through. Anywho, don't want to argue or waste space posting in this so again, sry if this annoys anyone, not my intention. Lets leave it at that so this topic can drown in the sea of posts like the one I couldn't find did.

/me starts his "rimshot" app on his G1.
I was reading a thread up here on XDA over the weekend and I remember seeing someone who posted a mod (it was in a [ROM] thread I believe) that allowed you to type your password/pin and would automatically let you in once it was correct without the need to hit ok (the button was removed).
I remember it saying that you would have unlimited retries and it lets you in once it's type correctly.
I've been searching for about an hour and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone recall seeing this?
I remember the mod just can't remember who wrote it up or if it was rom specific

After upgrading the ota the day yesterday, whenever I change the background and picking a picture from the gallery, it only allows me to choose part of the picture, that is, the vertical form, which gets too zoomed in and looks horrible. Before, I would allow me to choose a different form, more landscapy...
Yes, the backgroudn scrools, but the image quality is HORRIBLE!

I already answered this question in two threads (one of them yesterday), plus there are a few more about this, its the ROM, Samsung made it that way. Search and youll find out how to fix it.

Yeah, um. I don't know how to say this without sounding offensive. But the new format this page has. SUCKS! Oh yeah, I gotta ask a question. Alright, here goes. Why is it that I can enter something in the search bar here up to the right, and get NOTHING on a subject that I know for sure is here on XDA? I don't get it, and suddenly feel retarded everytime I try to use it since. It's a good thing I have a buncha bookmarks on my PC or I'd get totally lost within your search parameters. Believe me I already have more than a few times. Yeah, I'm obviously frustrated with it enough to write this little note for all you Admins, Moderators, whoever it is thats running things around here. Look, I should be able to enter something into the search bar and find it. But someone decided to change something that wasn't broke to begin with and now it's being difficult! Take this for an example. I'm researching a project I want to start. So, usually I would first start out in the search bar. Now go ahead, I dare ya! Enter this: Samsung Galaxy S Relay. That's an "exact" search parameter. Again with the no offense but, can any one of you tell me why I get directed to some page not even related? Where'd it lead me too? How to Root Any Device. Please fix your search parameters!

Sorry you're having trouble, but I get relevant search results using Samsung Galaxy S Relay.
Try clearing your cache? A different xda theme? Or to test, try another browser?

Next to the search bar , there's a button called "search plus" , click on it and you'll have the right search bar ( the little one you were using is to search between article from XDA Portal)
Okay, I'm back for a follow up, because this seems to be an obvious difficulty and I'll bet I'm not the only one that may be having issues with this. It's a navigation thing about the current format I see here on XDA. I noticed it a few weeks ago and it's not my cache. When I'm on my tablet I can navigate fine, but when I come here on my PC it's another story, and it's very frustrating. That's why you got this question before you in such a way. You guys who may understand it having set it up know how to get around. As I mentioned before it used to be fairly easy, now it's stupid not to belittle you. The problem is that it has suddenly become difficult to search for things in a normal maner. I use the search bar, which should dirrectly link me to what I am "specifically" looking for and let's put aside the search plus for the moment. If I'm searching for something that I know is there and I type in certain words that should bring me right to it, my question is, why aren't they! I'm getting redirected to some page, often of no relevance. And here's where I'll bet this is happening to others. So what's going on? There's a problem with your search bar, and I'm letting you know it's kinda frustrating. I can navigate through here with other ways, that's not a problem. I got some bookmarked, subscribed to, ect. The issue is that the search bar in itself is broken! Whatever you guys did to it, I saw it, pointing it out! Now fix it please. This might help. I noticed a difference about two weeks ago. Not sure what it is or was. I even cleared out from my PC anything that would suggestively lead to it being my PC settings. Being a good enough percentage to say it's not, it's therefore XDA.
On a side note for all you Admins and Mods. I've been coming here over 10 years now, I got questions and suggestions. But right now my suggestion is to please eliminate some obvious confusion I've noticed that affects an average user to navigate through your search areas.

Okay, so here's a basic question. let's put this on the table so to speak. I don't know why you put a link to articles in the search bar in such a way to begin with. It doesn't really make sense to me. Especially with your nifty new format of where everything is, except articles I'm going to guess. So you put them in the search bar with no notice of. Can you explain all that to me? Cuz right now I'm sorry to admit, I'm kinda laughing at this. I can just imagine all you went through, even deciding on how to change the old format to what I see now. It's good. However, when it comes to the search bar, whatever idea you went with. It's one that didn't notify anyone that the search bar isn't what it says it is~!

You seem to be angry and it's a pity. Did you try the suggestion provided by RaiZProduction in a previous post? Does the Search Plus button (see my screenshot attached) allow you to find what you are usually looking for on XDA Forum?
You might want to step back a second and read carefully!

I'm far from angry. But check this out. This is the Q & A section is it not? So i'm askinfg a question about a difference I noticed and the A's I'm getting are a joke! Really? Hey Wood Man? You're deflecting. Step off unless you got something relevant to say. To those of you at XDA I now have a minor complaint! You people need to read what I said. I said I noticed a difference with the search bar and could someone tell me whats wrong with it. The answer I got was a confirmation that the search bar was not functional as it says it is and that's it. So. Mr Wood Man. Did I follow the suggestion you mentioned? Ahem! Are you asking to get put down blatantly or what? I made a post, RaiZProduction made a suggestion, what may I ask you is the post after that? Mine! A follow up. Before you decide to jump in there, you might wanna inform yourself better.. Answers were given, some with ideas, others saying all is fine for them. And also your opinion on the search is noted. However, it seems to work for everyone else, so not sure what more to say.
