Moto Z Play, bloatware from Best Buy? - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

It is... tempting to buy the Moto Z Play from Best Buy, because it is faster than from Amazon and much faster than direct from Motorola.
But does the Moto Z Play from Best Buy come with any extra bloatware that is not on the manufacture direct version? I can see on the box that it is the XT1635-02 model in the US, which I believe is not the Verizon version with bloatware, and it is not a refurb, so I am only worry about bloatware that Motorola installs through any deals with Best Buy or ones that Best Buy installs itself (probably).
Anyone with experience?

I doubt Best Buy would make the effort to install bloatware on there. I've bought other phones & electronics from Best Buy, they've never loaded best-buy specific software on their stuff. I think it's safe to assume it's going to be the same you would get from Motorola.

I didn't see any bloatware on the demo device in Best Buy. I bought mine in Fry's, it's the same model (XT1635-02) and no bloatware at all. Just don't buy Verizon version

Buy the device from Motorola.
No bloatwares!

Want to buy the European version of the One X

I am in the US and would like to buy the European version of the phone to ensure I get timely updates. Where have people been buying there phones? I do not want an Asian version.
Or just get any international HOX and root it? You can get any update anytime you want
you should buy the real Phone in a official flagship store, or you can buy it on the normal online shop store, and much more atention should be paid to the fake phone, because these days, many owners of online shop cheat we customers.
Some sellers on Amazon have the international version, usually the ones with 32gig are the tegra3 one x. Not sure if they differentiate between the EU and Asian versions. You can always ask the seller , and make sure its from a reputable seller. I've noticed some listings dont offer a warranty.

Yes, that's right! The current state of HTC revenue fall has been impacted by the blocking of their phones at US customs due to none other than that fruity company. As with where to buy it, I can tell you not to buy it from the UK retailers as even the OTA for UK unbranded phones seems delayed......no point therefore.....So it might be better if you buy it from retailers in Germany (Amazon.de) or elsewhere that gets the OTA on time....:good:

help with buying

hey guys ive been looking for a new phone and this one seems to tick all the boxes but while looking for info on it ive found that there are a few different versions like f240 and l-04e and e980 and e986 and a few more lol, but im the sunny uk so im not sure if it will make a difference which one i buy? also does anyone have any suggestion where the best place to buy one of these phones from?

I did a lot of research before buying my OGP, as well. Swell device and I am more than satisfied with it. We have a small development community, but just enough to give you a taste of just about everything.
Go for one of the E98X ones. The F variants seem to have an even smaller development community here on XDA. You'd have to rely on Chinese and Vietnamese sites which are dominantly stock-based ROMs.
Not sure where you'd get one as I got mine through AT&T.

Thanks for the advice mate does make much difference which one of the E98X ones I get?

I don't really think so. Most ROMs say E980 (AT&T variant) but works on all E98X models (I think).

You could also wait until the swappa.com UK site has one available.

I'm also in the UK and I brought mine of ebay but now it is broken and the seller doesn't care. I would be very careful as the phone will obviously be an import so the warranty will not work in the UK. LG UK will not fix your phone, even if you pay for it. Many online shops, such as simply electronics, may take a long time to ship to you as they may have to get the device delivered from hong kong etc. Also, most of these online shops have none existent customer services and they won't reply if you have a problem. From looking at google shopping, there doesn't seem to be anywhere in the UK who will help you if your phone breaks. However, if you do buy from shops such as simply electronics and value basket, you should eventually receive the product.
Why don't you get the LG G2? It is only £320 on Amazon UK.

All this said, I think swappa.com may be the best place to buy a US model in the UK (if one ever comes up). Swappa is an XDA offshoot and they have a very good system for matching buyers with sellers at fair prices. I just sold a phone there for a little less than I paid for it to someone who didn't seem to know much about what he was buying but it all worked out fine. They do not charge sellers. Buyers pay a flat $10USD. Another advantage is the built in protections of PayPal. I would not hesitate to buy from Swappa, although their prices tend to be somewhat higher than ebay's due to the buyer fee and shipping included in the asking price.
A few (not most) US sellers will ship internationally.
Here's one: LG Optimus G Pro (Unlocked) For Sale - JCP297 - $400 > Swappa - http://is.gd/tLP8aL
F240s,said to be mint. With international shipping will probably cost more. Keep in mind that a locked AT&T e980 is now $370 direct from the carrier. Of course given UK prices this might still be less expensive than ordering locally.

The problem with paying with paypal is that in the uk, if the worst happens, you can get your credit card company (not debit card) to give you the money back, but you are paying paypal, not the seller directly, so you can have problems with getting your money back, especially if the seller is an individual, not a business.

[Q] Buying a New SGH-T989

Hi friends,
Since my SGH-T989 is bricked i couldn't repair it on any service store in my country. They told me that SGH-T989 it's a rare model and we don't have the right support for the JTAG service.
I was thinking about of buying a new phone, but first i wanna to consult with you guys, about experiences with SmartPhones from Hong Kong.
They are too damn cheap compared with other countries.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Samsung...1041813229?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item257ed70eed
I have found this item on eBay for 172$ and i am worried about if this item would be original as my bricked SGH-T989 that was bough in NY/USA.
What do you think about, should i buy this phone ?
I will install CyanogenMod to this phone because i can't live without it, do you think it will support CM ROM ?
Thank you in advance.
Why buy another S2 when you can get a new moto G for that price, or a used upgrade of some type.

i have a budget of 200$, what do you think is the best smartphone i can buy with 200$
I only know about so many phones. A 16gb Moto G would be nice. Or check out used ones in your price range. Google them and compare to the G... Like "moto G vs whatever" so your search phrase.
If you like flashing things... You could get an N4 used for that price. A little more and an N5 maybe. A moto X for a bit more, but not much to do for flashing. And watch the moto's... Verizon, AT&T and Republic wireless have bootloader that can't be unlocked.
There's probably S4's near that price. Maybe. S3 isn't a very good upgrade, a little, but not much.
Not sure about other makes myself tho.

You have to consider SD card slot though too, if you use it.

[Q] Moto 360 and international warranty

I'm set on getting the Moto 360. It's not due to be out in the UK for a few more weeks but the price in the US is a lot cheaper. My brother is going to the states soon and has offered to buy one for me from there. Does anyone know what Motorola's stance is with International warranty? Also, what's the best way to purchase the watch for someone visiting? I'm guessing Best Buy but are there stock issues? TIA

Moto 360 finally available to buy in Japan ???

Was browsing the web and thought Id take a look at moto's Japan site.
So since XDA wont let me post links, go to motorola japan to look.
Motorola recently updated their Japanese webpage and the Moto 360 is the start page.
Good news (for me) considering Motorola has zero presence in Japan.
For example; the phones they have on the page include razr and razr HD !
Does anyone have any info on this ??
What is so interesting in the fact that Moto 360 is available in Japan ? You could buy one years ago from eBay or from one of the online US stores, if you wanted one.

Well motorola hasnt sold anything in Japan for years. If you look at the webpage, youll see !
Getting stuff from ebay is a hassle if you live here - the fact that they seem to be back is a step in the right direction

Plus the range of android wear watches is very limited here. And I dont want to be rude but this would be interesting to people living in Japan who are members here - whats so interesting about stuff coming the the US or UK ???
Ahem, are you talking about the fact that Motorola is selling it directly or about the availability?
Because I bought the Moto 360 last year already on Amazon Japan.
Cheers
Tom

I don't want to be rude either. And believe it or not, I do understand your position. I live in an UE country which never gets the goodies launched in US and UK. And yet I can easily manage to buy the things that others are getting first, at good prices. We live in a global market, prices are similar, warranty indeed is a problem but I for one don't think that I needed warranty work more than 2 times in my dozens of devices purchased.
I will be rude....
Just kidding. The moto 360 is way overpriced on amazon.co.jp because it is imported (from us amazon?). I think 2nd gen is $500 (¥49999) right now. This is great news cause I can get one cheaper and with a warranty and maybe with some google goodies, like play store credit or something. 1st gen is like $250 right now, but $150 on us playstore.
Edit: Looks like a $150 moto 360, gen 1, is only 6-12 bucks to ship to Japan from us amazon. Not bad, but with the weak yen, we still take a hit, so it would be better if priced at ¥30000 on the jp google store. But, I do not see it on the store here in japan. Really want a 360 2nd gen. hmmmm......
