[Q&A] Is my phone over clocked? - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

I'm using MIUI 8 beta with Xcelerate kernel. I just checked "about phone" and I saw that it is showing 1.7 GHz as clock speed of processor instead of 1.6 GHz. Is my phone over clocked? Or it is just rounding off 1689 MHz as 1.7 GHz?

Its Xcelerated!

Yes it is since Xcelerate is an overclocked kernel but don't be afraid it won't run at max frequencies.

What is a safe frequency to over lock my Nexus to?

I tried over clocking to 1.92 Ghz, and my phone rebooted on me and went back to 1.2 ghz. I over clocked to 1.8 ghz and my phone mad a slight buzzing noise and rebooted and went back to 1.2 ghz. I'm not on 1.6 ghz and so far everything is working correctly. How can I tell if my CPU is damaged/ fried and what is a safe frequency would you say? I'm on Franco kernel.
1.9 is probably too high... I wouldn't go over 1.5ghz if you want your phone to last. Besides, everything is smooth at stock speeds.
The CPU doesn't really get damaged but instead had it's life shortened when you oc'ed it that high.

[Q] [POLL-TYPE]Poll about overclock

Hey everyone,
Was just wondering, what is your Maximum overclock on your Note II. At what voltage?
1.8GHz for daily usage at 1250mv
[email protected]
Latest antutu 22570.

Don't actually overclock, don't really need it so far
Overclocking Benefits
Wow, 1.86 GHz. Great. Nice low voltage too!
I run at 1.92 GHz, 1350 mV (Sometimes I can get 1325 mV, but I overclocked the GPU. It seems if the GPU is faster the processor needs more voltage?)
Latest Antutu Score: 25545, beating the stock S IV

Don't you undervolt all CPU clocks from 200Mhz to 1900Mhz?

Yep! All clocks are undervolted, each step decrease 25 mV from previous. I found this to give best benchmark and stability!
If you know of any clocks I can decrease further, please share.
Also, does anybody know if 2000 MHz is possible? I heard overclocking should be between 10-20% increase otherwise the CPU could malfunction (device freeze, SOD, ect) Now, 1600 MHz + 20% = 1920 MHz so I don't think any higher is possible.... But anything is possible on XDA/Android!
Tried your setting hitman but best antutu I could get was 23049.

Ok. What ROM are you using? I'm running CM 10.2
Also, governor to Pegasusq. I customised that to give best performance I can get.
And, what kernel are you using? I'm using Devil Kernel 0.35 or something (the latest devil kernel)
Use TricksterMod to overlook GPU to 800 MHz, you'll need extra volts.
Download all in one toolbox from Play, or Clean Master. Run this before running Antutu
Using TricksterMod, make sure CPU temp is below 30 Degrees Celsius.

[Q] Overclocking

Is it safe to overclock the processor and GPU a bit? Asking this since this tablet's processor is simply an underclocked Snapdragon 600.
(If I do, I'll be using ElementalX)
I don't think it makes that much sense. The s4 pro is already fast and does everything (and I mean everything) 600s and 800s can (obviously not considering chipset-specific tasks that our devices are not capable of in any case). I own a n4, same exact SoC and clock speed, and overclocking can be done up to 1.75 GHz. Even if I were to overclock I'd avoid the GPU. In any case follow the instructions provided by your kernel dev, he surely knows best
When you install ElementalX, the installer will guide you.
I'd recommmend you to overclock the cpu to 1.7 GHz and the gpu to 450 MHz. With everything else, just stick to the default.

I overclocked to 1.7 GHz and the GPU up to 491 MHz, but the performance improvement wasn't even notable and I got only 800 more points on AnTuTu and 3 or 4 more FPS on 3DMark

[Q] What is your CPU speed?

Hey guys!
I installed CPU Spy and Performance Tuner and noticed that my max CPU speed is 1440Mhz but as far as I know it should say 1800Mhz. I know we have 4 cores running at 1.4Ghz and 2 cores running at 1.8Ghz which is the speed advertised.
What is your max CPU speed for your G4?

CpuSpy doesn't know that cores beyond 0-3 exist, so it only shows the first quadcore cluster. App hasn't been taught bigLITTLE yet it seems.
Oh I see, I thought I had like a bad CPU since I couldnt find something about it. Thanks!
Same here I only get to do 1.44
Use Kernel Adiutor App. it's compatible and detects all cores.

Overclocking

The processor of moto z2 force is snapdragon 835. It has 8 cores kryo 280(modified cortex a73). So if cortex a73 allow cores be overclocked up to 2.8 ghz, can snapdragon be overclocked up to 2.8 ghz?

I started getting instability over 2.6 GHz steps on Gold cluster and Silver can be clocked up to at least 2.1 GHz. You start getting barely any returns compared to power consumption. After 2.5 GHz, the overclock Tachyon has for Gold, I didn't see much performance increase compared to the near triple power consumption.
In short. We can OC to 2.6 without issue but that step uses 3x more power than the jump from 2.4-2.5 for barely any gains. Silver cluster can get to 2.1GHz without issue and not much power increase.
