I just got my display changed from official Lenovo service centre.
Now I've been facing this problem and it's killing me.
For example, I'm typing out this.
I stop to think what to write, (screen is on) and 4-5 seconds have passed.
Now when I go back to typing, SCREEN IS UNRESPONSIVE.
I cannot play 8 ball pool, cannot play any platformer, can't do basic tasks.
The screen responds as soon as I do a weird swiping motion on the screen.
Please help.
Model: Lenovo P2A42
Android version: 7.0
I have factory reset the phone twice.
No change.
Uninstalled all apps.
No change.
Clear cache and update all apps. It may fix ur problem
Regret buying this phone
I have the exact same issue bro after having replaced the display module. Tried factory reset for 3 to 4 times still no effect. I have been to the Lenovo service centre twice. They said downgrading is the solution, as I refused to downgrade as Marshmallow has that annoying audio sync issue they flashed the Nougat again. I'm having the same issue after 1 day of use now. I think I'll ask for a replacement now.
Facing same issue after changing display
Also blue shade occurs when notification menu dropped down and when black wallpaper is applied
Most significantly seen when brightness is low
Tap to wake feature also not working
Anyone is facing blue notification shade issue??

Yes, I have exactly the same problems as all of you describe above!
The problems started as soon as I received the phone back from Lenovo Service Centre run by A Novo in Norwich in the UK. I cracked my screen after a small drop and sent the phone to them for a replacement screen. It is now worse than when it has just the cracks in the glass. I sent it back again with details describing that "double tap to wake" no longer works at all, and intermittently the touch screen stops responding until I swipe left and right to bring it back to life. It just came back and nothing has changed. The phone is now unusable and I don't think A Novo do anything more than check all seems okay for a few seconds and then send it back to me.
All I can think is that they have a batch of faulty replacement screens, and anyone sending their phones in at the moment will get the same problems.
This seems to be a common problem with Lenovo P2 screens. My screen had a dead pixel and got it changed at a service center, after which screen response went for a toss. For me, specifically, the touch would specially deteriorate while the phone was connected to a charger. Went back to the service center and they acknowledged the problem but could not repair due to lack of spares. I chased Lenovo for almost 2 months but their customer care phone and emails did not respond, while the service centers are third party centers. Finally dropped in at their corporate office and then they agreed to replace the phone. Lenovo's own service team in Bangalore, India is horrible and only the third party centers are keeping them afloat..
Engineer in LENOVO service centre said that some update will come on 18 AUGUST which will fix some bugs. Now God knows whether update will come or not and fortunately if comes it solves the problem or increase it ?

Their site shows one somewhere near Santa Cruz: http://www3.lenovo.com/in/en/contact
I dont know about Mumbai but for Bangalore, their own service managers are absolutely useless. No response in any way and when I did get a response due to the visit to their office, no soft skills, communication or idea about customer service.
In fact, in the end one of their service centers issued a refund on their own and I went out and got a Mi Max 2. Unfortunately, that was too big to use and exchanged it back for a P2 with a friend.
Disable double tap to wakeup and see whether their is still problem

Thanks! I had the same issue exactly after replacement of screen. It did drive me nuts!
Switching everything off in the "feature" section seems to work. I did not even use those features so it's great!
Thanks for this thread.
I had my P2's screen replaced last week for 7500/- and now I had the same touchscreen delay issue.
I am using AEX custom rom, so when I disabled the "Tap to wake" feature the touch issue was solved, but it returns back wen I plug in the charger. tried to fiddle with many settings but no luck so far. Anyone had this same problem?? Any workaround??

On the lock screen, in menus and in apps, peek and dynamic perspective are not working. Tried a factory reset but nothing has fixed it!
Any suggestions?
Cheers.
EDIT: Dynamic perspective works on my lock screen if I don't touch the phone for a while, then agree 3 seconds it shuts off again and the picture goes back to the centre and is immovable again. Peak has worked for 1 second all day. Only received the phone today!
Anyone?
Have you checked if Dynamic Perspective is activated on Settings? It's on the Screen menu inside Settings. Or, if you are still in the country you bought it at, you should just ask for a swap (or refund, depending on how much you like the phone).
I have the same problem
I suspect it started happening after 4.6.5 update. I got on mayday today, and the tech advisor could not suggest anything, so they logged a ticket and said will get back to me.
I did notice that it momentarily works sometimes (for eg if I enter and exit the amazon shopping app). But then it stops working. In Monkey buddy, the monkey does not show up on the screen at all.
Same Problem, DP Stopped Working
I started having the same problem, right after the one year warranty on my phone ran out. My phone had not been dropped and was not splashed or submerged in any liquid. Were you ever able to get it fixed? Had you recently side loaded Google Play Services?
Hi.
My Z1C seems to have a similar case of faulty display as described in some other threads here, but actually a bit different. The phone is stock, not rooted, running 5.1.1
Whenever I do something, there are ghost touches in the upper quarter or third of the screen. They only happen when I am not touching the screen myself. It happens no matter what I do. When I browse internet, it clicks links, when I scroll contacts, it calls people, when I am on facebook it gives likes etc... It seems like the more demanding task the phone is performing, the more ghost touches.
I turned on the developer settings and the "show pointer location" option, which leaves track of the last touch on screen, so I can research the issue.
I found out that when the phone is on home screen, it happens very rarely or not at all - the track of my last touch stays until screen turns off.
When I jump into the touchscreen service test, it does not happen at all. I can draw a line around the whole screen and it stays higlighted indefinitely.
In lock screen, it also doesn't happen.
I tried it in Sketch and it confirmed what I thought, when I was just sketching, from time to time a dot appeared in the upper part of the screen, but when the phone was downloading or installing in the background, the screen literally had seizures. I touched and released and then a storm of dots started to appear around the top part of the screen. It stopped after 5+ seconds, and after another input from me, the screen got another fit, drawing more dots.
I don't have any experience, but I think that since the problem doesn't happen constantly and it doesn't even happen at all in test mode, it could be a SW mistake.
I have found this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2691849 and I'm willing to try, but 1) my phone is still under warranty and 2) I have never done a root so I am not too eager. Do you think I should try that? Or has anyone found another solution for this problem?
Thanks.

As You have warranty, I would strongly suggest that You go for a repair. I had the same issue in beginning, ghost touches appearing randomly, going away only after reboot. I was rooted and xposed, so went full stock without restoring any apps or data from internal storage, yet the problem remained, thus ruling out the point that it was software problem. And then after a week or so, that much part of screen stopped responding to touch entirely. You can see details over here, Another user had same problem as Mine and had the same end result,
OK then, I'll go for a repair. Thanks for the tip.

I am having exactly the same behaviour as you described .
Ghost touches happening on the upper part, and triggered when a demanding task is running.
Actually I didn't realized completely about this, I thought it was just random, but right now after I saw your post, I tried an app similar to Sketch while upgrading apps or playing a video in the background. And dots in the upper part start appearing crazily.
Did the phone repair solve your problem ? Mine is not in warranty, so I'll have to pay for it.
But also in my case, before this thing happened, I got some water damage and that upper quarter of the screen stopped responding.
After replacing screen+digitizer I got this very specific behaviour you described.

In my case, I realized that I bought (probably) a badly re-fitted phone. Display's backlight was visible around screen panel edges, where I'd say it shouldn't be visible at all. I decided to return the phone and got a refund.

Ok. The aftermarket screen I got has that issue with the screen edges also. Very probable you are right.
In my case I water damaged myself. It seems that after 2 years of intensive use, waterproofing is gone, by accumulation of slight hits or so, never had a single crack on the screen. I read many posts reporting this happening, even with much less use time.
Too bad, I loved the phone, but I'm afraid that sending it to repair will mean to change the PCB or similar for a complete fix, which can come to a ridiculous price.
Seems it will be time to move on...
Yeah. If you want it fixed properly, you'd need to send it to Sony, and for the money it would cost you, you can probably gen a new phone. Sadly, similar phones aren't made anymore.
Suddenly the fingerprint scanner became less responsive the past few days. Then today it's just stopped working. Restarted, cleared fingerprints, restarted and system could not find scanner and bring it to support. Another restart and I was able to add fingerprints, but it still does not unlock the phone.
Any thoughts?
I'm done with LG too. V10 dead. G7 thinq dying. DONE!
Hey guys, I'm actually a Pro! I repair phones all day everyday and the G7 is my daily, my fingerprint scanner actually quit working and I replaced it, and it works totally fine now. I believe it is a manufacturing defect, but LG is a **** company and they don't own up to stuff like this. I love my G7, but I wish they handled things better. If you can send it in on warranty, otherwise replace the fingerprint scanner. Any local shop should be able to to do it 60-80, Mobile Defenders has OEM ones. Different colors work Fina as well. I have a pink ok on my blue boy. It's dope. Only real issue I've had, that and my battery is starting to get mediocre
I'm in the same boat. A reboot does the trick, but it's sooo annoying. Wish LG would own up and fix it.
Only it's not an issue because of the millions of g7s that have no problems.....

No issue with fingerprint scanner....
Excuse my bad english....
It happens to me sometimes but is due to some apps installed out of google play. In my case the solution is just to uninstall the app or the apps and then reboot the phone. It works for me in 100% of cases.
Some other cases i can just install them again and the fingerprint scanner is working with that app.

Always the cracked ones. Not all the cracked apps but NOT the apps from google play.
I meand that is like if the apps i donwload from that web sometimes block the fingerprint.
And most of the times is just inmediately.
I dont usually install those cracked apps but i download a few photo and video editing tools.
Mine "fixed" itself after about a week. It may have been an app or an update. But it works fine again.

So, after lot of investigation, the problem is with the fingerprint's "activity". It just stops working which will cause it to not show up in the menu and more headaches around other apps relying on it.
The possible solution to this is:
Download activity launcher or any app that can extract the activities running in your phone.
find: 'FingerprintASM' and 'FingerprintAuthenticator' under 'all activities' from the drop-down menu on the top
Tap on each to run it.
Restart the device.
Thank me later once done. :good:
Tried it a few times, but fingerprint only works about 75% of the time event after trying this. In fact it's getting worse. Maybe it's hardware...

I have very similar problem. Fingerprint works in random situation but many times it does not work. Looks like fingerprint ceases to be active.. maybe its firmware problem. LG probably do not care about it.. but I see many LG users haves this problem.
I had an issue with mine when I first got it. The back plate had been removed and glued back on. It was slightly open on the top, which made the fingerprint sensor move away from the connection on the back of the phone. The sensor was mostly unresponsive until I sealed it back up. Not sure if this pertains to your problems, but I figured I'd share.

Question for the repair guy! My G7 Thinq fingerprint scanner stopped working. I tried to add my fingerprints again with no luck. The phone "buzzes" when I touch the sensor and the screen displays "Place your finger on the center of the fingerprint sensor." Sometimes I get "Sensor needs to be cleaned"
Stepped through some other suggestions and did a "hard reset/wipe of the phone", no joy. Will replacing the fingerprint sensor would effect a repair? I would hate to go to the repair shop, pay for the replacement, and it still not work.
Thanks in advance
One possible quick fix
I noticed in a tear-down video that the fingerprint sensor uses touch contacts for signal transmission (as opposed to being a plug-in contact). I pressed on the area about where it is located, just under the flash and IR, and now it works! If you've dropped your phone a few times it might cause this as the back is glued on and the contact area could pull away from the glue (just a theory). I think I will try to heat it up and press down on it some more for good measure.
Update:
This approach does get it working again but the effect is not long-lived. Tried it with heating but again it is not permanent. Alas.

I don't have these activities in the Android 10 ROM. When I activate some others it throws an error that seems to indicate the hardware is missing.
It's newly ordered and it seems connected ok, same position as original, checked without cover too, just doesn't work. Perhaps incompatible hardware or faulty?
activity launcher did not work on my LG Q stylus plus !!!

It seems to appy to Android 9. 10 has some other processes.
Easiest is to look for Smart cleaning, then choose fingerprint.
It will show that the hardware is not being detected.
I tried everything to no avail.
I either got two broken sensors or another issue.
Seems the lower board might be suspect.
If anyone figures it out, please psot, so will I.
Thanks

My friend 100 thanks after 1 month and hours to search finally i make it
Been using the phone for the last 12 hours and I noticed something towards the end of my use last night.
The screen seemed to become unresponsive. And when it would work it would start to make its own input when scrolling and opening any app or link my finger would drag over while scrolling.
Changed refresh rates, changed resolutions, even seen if the blue light filter was the issue. Nothing.
Almost seems like the screen drops frames when scrolling, like it gets caught on something.
New development. Fingerprint sensor doesn't respond at all and inputting a pattern is damn near impossible. Going to try removing the screen protector to see if that could also be the issue
Did a factory reset
Issue seems to be where the finger print scanner is
It's almost like a dead or unresponsive zone.
Sounds like a factory defect, better have it replaced if resetting didn't worked.
Small video showing when scrolling over the fingerprint reader, the screen almost loses input
Defect.

one of the first things i did to trouble shoot. still having the issue. sometimes the screen completely loses all touch registration and it doesnt even know im trying to swipe or push on things. just realized it did this also after tmobiles new software update.
im still waiting here to hear back from samsung on how they are going to fix this issue
The same thing happens to me. Pulling down the notification shade seems to be the only thing that still works. It seems to goose the phone and it starts working again.
Test using the *#0*# diagnostic menu and use the Touch test.
My 1 month old Pixel 6 Pro suddenly began to display screen flashing and flickering.
It starts a few seconds after the phone is unlocked or about a minute after the phone is turned on. If you leave the screen alone, so no touching, everything is normal. But once this issue appears, it won't go away until you turn off the phone or lock the screen.

Any ideas if this could be SW related or it is for sure a HW defect? Thanks!
Seller said they managed to fix it by factory resetting the phone and installing updates. Which I find weird since I did this multiple times before sending it back. Google seems to agree with seller.
I guess I just have to wait to get it back and hope for the best, but this in no way seems a SW issue to me.
But is it even possible that software could cause such issues?
I'm also starting to have this issue on the right side of my Pixel 7 Pro. It's not a severe as the video above but it's still noticeable

Phone is now back from Google assistance and the problem is solved. I don't know what they did but I suspect the screen was replaced in warranty since it had the protective foil on.
I forgot to update my story but, I made a claim to Google and went to a UBreakiFix store and got it checked out the same day. They replaced the screen for free and that fixed the issue.

This problem started on my phone several months ago and hasn't gone away.
Apparently when the p6p was released it was a fairly common occurrence - solved by software.
I tested various screen setups and found a way to use my phone ; I can't set the screen resolution over 51% , turn off Adaptive brightness, turn on Dark theme. Smooth display doesn't seem to have any bearing and if the phone is cold it is more prone to flickering.
Once it starts to flicker I use the slider to bring the level to its lowest and back to about 45%. Pita but workable (can't return phone for a screen replacement).
Managed to eliminate the flickering by installing magisk module AOSP Mods
(changed screen brightness in Miscellaneous/Screen resolution - set the slider to 50%) . Back to full brightness with no flicker.
