Nova Google Companion nonfunctional on LineageOS 13 for Nexus 10 (manta) - LineageOS Questions & Answers

This has been a problem since I installed LineageOS on my device since June 29, 2017. I'm running the latest nightly. Nova Google Companion worked totally fine on the stock ROM. I talked to Cliff Wade and the TeslaCoil Software team on the Google+ Nova Launcher Beta Community, and they said because it worked on the stock ROM, it's LineageOS's fault. I've tried twice to send a report and it's been rejected for some stupid reason or another (namely the factc that I couldn't tell them which nightly Nova Google Companion worked on, because it has never worked). Any ideas?

Is a common issue with Nexus 10

Dolphin incompatible with Android 4.1.2?

Anyone finding that Dolphin 9.0 says it's incompatible with the Nexus 7 running stock 4.1.2?
I just went to install the new Jetpack add on, and found that the version running on my N7 is older (8.5 something) versus my phone (running a CM10 based ROM with 4.1.2 in it).

Doesn't look like jetpack is available yet for tablets. Where jetpack requires 9.0 where you found out that the current N7 has an older version.
On an off note, there is a Dolphin for Pad version. Made for Android tablets. However the browser is not compatible with the jetpack add on...yet. Be patient, I'm sure they will come out with a tablet version soon.
Thanks for confirming.

Just received a response from Dolphin support:
I'm so sorry for the inconvenience.
We find the issue occurs while installing Dolphin Browser on tablets. And we are currently working on it. Please keep update with us.

+1 Was just about to ask the same question, its the same on 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 "not supported on your device" i can install jetpack though, gutted because its a really smooth browser, why isnt chrome that smoooth!?
What i did was sideload the dolphin 9 apk from a titanium backup on my phone. Just shared it to google drive and installed from that app on my nexus...installs just fine and jetpack works as intended.

Is flash compatible with Dolphin?
Dolphin is visible in the app store again. They must have fixed the compatibility flags.
I seriously doubt if the new version works with Flash though - we had to use a specific older version for that.
Someone install the new one and try it!

Yep..they fixed it and I can install it on my tablet today. Last night it wouldn't.
Really fast browser....but why don't they make the interface better? You have to press 3 buttons to get to share or settings.
Anyone have issues with 9.0 constantly crashing? I've never had it either just "disappear" or pop up a "Dolphin has Crashed, E-mail debug log" before today, and it's happened twice in the space of 5 mins with the latest update.

Yeah, wiping its data cleared up my FC issues.
But I had to revert to the previous version- the context menu (long-press) is gone on images, so I can't save them anymore. I've reported it though, so hopefully it'll come back in the next version.

They released an update to Jetpack (go figure) that fixed this today, so I'm now up-to-date!

[Q] PA 4.5 or 4.6 on GT-I9300 (Samsung Galaxy S3)?

Hi there,
I installed PA 4.45 and it was quite buggy on my GT-I9300 (I think my Samsung Galaxy S3 is a AOSPA / legacy device).
I upgraded to PA 4.5 beta 4. Seems quite stable for me. Good job guys!
In PA OTA I see only updates for 4.6 but no update for 4.5.
My question now is (for people who have experience with PA on the GT-I9300 and PA 4.6):
Is 4.6 using more resources (since I have a legacy device, I'm concerned about performance) or the general perceived performance would be similar to 4.5?
I want to know if it's better to wait for a final 4.5 release (will there be any, or updates will come only for 4.6?) or try 4.6.
Thank you for letting me know.
I have been using PA since V4 came out on my i9300. Can say that everything up to 4.6 was amazing, but ever since flashing 4.6 beta 4 (coming from 4.5 beta 4) I have nothing but trouble. Total system freeze (low ram probably) 10 ~ 20 seconds after booting, or 5 seconds after starting the first app. Since I haven't done a clean install in a while I'm giving that a try.
If I don't forget I will post the results.
[EDIT]
Also should mention the heating problems that came with 4.6 beta 4 (but that may just be the dirty flash after all).

Thanks for sharing your experiences, I was thinking to upgrade to 4.6 beta 5, but after reading your post I'm a bit afraid...
For now I'm experiencing with 4.5 beta 4 the following problems:
Often when I set a timer, after a few minutes I get an error (dialog with error) that the clock app crashed. But the timer still works... strange. Sometimes the timer then doesn't trigger the alarm in the end.
Also I get a dialog with an error of the ui that crashed. But the system seems working well anyway: no need to restart or so, just the dialog with the error...
See screenshots in attachment...
PA 4.6beta5
I'm currently using PA 4.6beta5 on my i9300 and it's excellent!
No issue, no problem.
Never had low memory problem.
But I've a clean installation (I've wiped all before install)
I have had a LOT of trouble the past few weeks, to the point where flashing a stock rom via odin wouldn't boot and crazy stuff like that. I think it might be hardware related, but after formatting everything and reinstalling it's been working fine now. Only thing is the heating/battery drain problem. It turned out to be google+, so disabling that in apps solved the problem. Running quite smoothly for over two weeks now.

1Weather Install Problem

Just an FYI to any other 1Weather app 5X/6P users, since I'm a fan of the app. Here is a problem I found and a fix.
The app was fine on my Galaxy S4 (L) and my Nexus 9 (M) and both recognized the fact that I had installed and purchased it a few months ago. A new install just now on the 5X, of their latest 3.3.4 version, basically does not work well at all. I did an uninstall of it on the Nexus 9 and a reinstall there also didn't work right.
So, since it installed fine a while back, I found an old 3.2.1 version apk online and installed that. It works fine now, and I would think it still will whenever the OS gets around to updating it to that new 3.3.4 version. I suspect that since the 3.3.4 ver was running fine when it was applied on top of a prior running copy.
Here is the link to the old version.
[The 1Weather dev team got back to me and confirmed the problem. They are thinking it's changes in the M Pay system causing the problem. They confirmed my 'use an old ver' procedure is fine.]
The problem is supposedly fixed now with the 3.3.5 version, no need to worry about a clean install of the Play Store version.
I got it to install and run, but the 1x1 widget crashes. Unless they fix that I'm going to find another weather app.

[SOLVED] Installing Google App Made LineageOS On Galaxy S2 Lagging Terribly

Hi,
I installed the Google App from Play Store and it made my S2 almost unusable. Everything is lagging, Google voice search takes about a minute to open, and answers come out of phase. I.E. if I enter a new search term I may get a response to my previous search. After uninstalling Google everything is back to normal. Lineage OS works (almost ) like a charm, without Google.
However, I need Google voice search and I need Google's voice recognition engine for other apps too.
Should I:
- update LineageOS? (Can I do so preserving installed apps and data?)
- change the Kernel?
- downgrade Google?
I'm using Nova Launcher - do I have to remove Trebuchet?
I got:
LineageOS Version 14.1-2017.08.02-Nightly-i9100
Build Number lineage_i9100-userdebug 7.1.2 NJH47D 9edfd84d7b
Baseband Version I9100XXLS8
Kernel Version 3.0.101-CustomKernel-v1.3 [email protected] #1 Mon Mar 27 19:31:17 IST 2017
Important? I changed the ROM size/layout before installing Lineage following some guide I can't find any more .
Thanks for any advice.
Best regards,
Toshi
2 options. Get older version of google or get a new phone. No decent voice services, unfortunately. :/
So yeah. And no, you dont need to remove trebuchet.
Thanks for your reply.
Get older version of google

...that's what I thaught of. But then I updated Lineage to the latest nightly and installed a fresh Google app (com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) from Playstore.
and BINGO! Everything is working as supposed

Twitter apps problem

Hello,
I didn't find anything about this so I decided to make a thread about it. I have LG G3 ( Unlocked ) D855 with Custom ROM LineageOS latest release installed and Custom Recovery TWRP. For some reason, whenever I try to install Twitter apk downloaded from ApkPure or any other apk provider, I get an "Application not installed.". . . it only installs using ApkUpdater. Also Twitter Lite installs but hangs on Twitter logo. I'am wondering, what's up with all of that and how can I get Twitter Lite to run ?
Thank you for your patience to read this and please help if you can
Not sure what "LineageOS latest release" is.
Anyway, odd situation. Usually anything from apkmirror should work. You don't mention if you tried from Play Store. Hmm, try the Twidere app and see if that works. It's an open source alternative / frontend to Twitter.

Thank you for the reply. Took me a while to find my post. I don't have a Google Play store installed and I would rather go without it since Google Apps are really heavy. Thanks for the recommendation for that open source app I never heard about I'll test it out soon as I update Lineage OS since 4 new realeses came
