I am trying to extract the Nokia Tune ringtone from my Lumia 635 running Windows 10 Mobile build 10.0.10586.456. I did a factory reset it, then did an interop unlock using Root Tool in order to gain full file system access. I used CustomPFD to enable full file system access when connected to the computer. Looking through the file system, I have been unable to find the location of the default ringtones. Does anyone know where the default ringtones are stored on Windows 10 Mobile? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
try here "PROGRAMS\CommonFiles\Sounds"
Thanks, that's where it was. However, I wasn't able to access that directory via MTP. I had to use spavlin's Storage Explorer. Even then I couldn't access that folder directly, I had to manually type the path. Once I did, I could see everything in that folder. Kept scrolling until I found Nokia Tune.wma. Copied it to C:\Data\Users\Public, thinking I'd simply be able to copy it to my computer via MTP. But the file didn't show up. So I used Total Commander's WiFi feature on the phone and got it on my computer that way. Thanks for your help.

I have tried with file manager and found the files i was looking for in android/data/something but when i connect my GN to my PC (win7 32bit) i only get a few folders and files,
I have tested with both USB modes and I only get the basic folders such as
Alarms, Android, DCIM, Downloads, Movies, Music, Notifications, Pictures, Podcasts, Ringtones.
and the file manager reports more folders present :/
also the files i'm trying to access are within the android folder (which is visible on PC) but in filemanager there are 10-20 folders found in android/data that are missing on PC. PC only shows 3 folders in android/data
It also appears to be possible for other users to access the exact same file at the exact same filepath, why can't I?
is there a feature on GN or ICS that makes it impossible to access some files from the PC or is this a bug/flaw?
in case you guys need to know what files i'm trying to access, it's the game files to GTAIII
I kind of have a similar problem.
When i connect my phone to a windows 7 computer it mounts okey and shows me the files. If I create a folder on the phone from windows explorer, unmounts the device, I can not see this folder on the phone via a file manager unless i reboot my phone. This also applies the other way around. If I create a folder on the phone from a file manager, then mount the phone to the computer, I can not see the folder until I reboot my phone.
Is there a fix for this? Is it a bug? How can i resolve this? It's very frustrating.
MTP/PTP doesn't offer all the features the full USB transfer mode has. Search will help you find the pros and cons of this.
Workaround: Use an app like WiFi File Explorer or Airdroid.

Can you offer any additional info? Have to used Root Explorer or a similar app to confirm without a doubt the files are gone and not just in a different place? And I am slightly confused when you say "move to sd card" because internal storage and SDcard on this phone are the same thing since there is no EXT..
I copyed files as usualy from computer to the nexus
After the copy (I copied the new google apps zip) this zip is ont the storage, but all other 12Go of data in the card are disapeared
I try to find it with windows, root explorer, es file explorer, I tryed android undelet tools and windows undelet tools... noone can see the MTP memory of the nexus .......
And I disabled the upload to picasa..

Do you have fast usb charge enabled? If so, try disabling that.
all files in /sdcard disappeared
The same thing just happened to me. I copied 386MB of music to /sdcard/Music and all appeared to be fine. I used Windows7 x64 Explorer over USB mounted as MTP.
I noticed that I could not copy some files back to Windows from Nexus. After messing around with that for a while I used ES File Explorer to check out /sdcard. Only a few folders were there, as if /sdcard were newly created. I could still see all of the lost folders in Windows Explorer.
Am I screwed?
TIA!
This is from a corrupt MediaStore DB. I ran into something similar when moving files to my phone over WiFi using File Explorer. Afterwards only a handful of folders showed up when connected via USB. Only way to fix it is to reset the DB. Settings > Apps > All > Media Storage > Clear data/cache. Reboot. It should completely rebuild the DB after the boot, and things should show up correctly again.

That did not get all my data back, I must have done something else while trying to fix it. The good news is that this fixed one of my next questions: How do I reset the Google Music album art? The suggestion above fixed that wonderfully.
Thanks!
How many Gnex users actually use OSX? Anyway, im wondering about pulling backups of backups to pc. The newest CWM 6.0.1.9 backs up to data/media. Android file transfer won't let me navigate up, so i cant access anywhere other than data/media/0. I could follow a guide here to restore the old file system setup, but i tend to think we're better off getting used to it. How can i get this backup backed-up? adb pull only works for specific files, rather than folders, correct? And would i also need to back up the blobs? Lastly, any hopes that android file transfer would get updated and become more of a file explorer?
I am running the same Android-Mac combination as you do. Since Android File transfer is very buggy on my system, I just abandoned it. Instead, I am using a simple and free FTP Server on my phone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=lutey.FTPServer
Once set up and activated, you can use Cyberduck or any other FTP Client of your choice on your Mac to access your phone via WiFi. The user experience is the same as browsing in a proper file explorer, being able to access any folder on your device. And you don't even need wires!
Hope that helps!
CT
PS: I think you have to back up the backup file and the blobs, since the first contains only references to the latter and thus won't let you restore anything without them.

FTP issue
Ok so i finally have investigated FTP possibilities. I can make a connection to the sdcard, /mnt/sdcard/. I cannot, however, access the /data/media/ folder which is where the new cwm backups are. I consistently get the command line output : 550, something pertaining to insufficient rights. Any help, suggestions? Its looking like the best way is going to be to move the folder, back it up via usb, then move it back for cwm accessibility. I hesitate bc i finally got a good backup [working bluetooth], and dont want to compromise it. As a side note, root browser lite will not successfully copy and paste the folder. I just get "operation failed". Im pretty sure es will do it, and again i have not yet tried the move option.
BTW, this has been solved: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37236515&postcount=5
Hi. I have...
- Nexus 5x H790 version 6.0.1 MMB29P full stock.
- Latest USB drivers from (http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html).
- Nexus Toolkit v2.1.0 sfx" say i have all MTP and ADB drivers installed.
- Pc with Windows 10 x64 (latest build 1511 compilation 10586.36).
When i plugged the phone, and change "charge only" to "file transfer (mtp)", windows native file explorer show all folders and subfolders, but empty, without files inside.
For example, I cannot see the photos/videos from the camera folder to copy to my pc.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
are you able to copy files to the phone? have you set explorer to show hidden files? is this really the case for all folders and files, or are there exceptions? did you set these folders to not show up in any app on the phone, for instance in a photo gallery or media player?
just some qustions that came to mind

In some files, copies. Others, not.
I dont change nothing in app or gallery.
Have you tried clearing data on the Media Storage app, then rebooting your device? I sometimes have problems with folders and files not showing up in Windows Explorer when connected via MTP, and this seems to fix it for me. You may need to choose the option to show system apps in order to see this app.

Same thing here, also windows 10. Can confirm that clearing data on the Media Storage app is fixing the problem ☺
I am unlocked and rooted on my new OP3. I installed the oneplus drivers and have Vista on my laptop. I have USB debugging on and switched to File Transfer MTP mode after plugging in the phone cable.
I can view files on the phone in internal memory, delete files on the phone, and copy files from the phone to the PC using a windows explorer dual pane alternative, like xplorer2. But I cannot copy a file from the PC to the phone. The phone appears as a portable media player with the internal storage labeled as 'generic hierarchical'. I wonder if this has something to do with it. Maybe these dual pane explorers need to see the phone as NTFS format for this to work. Does anyone know: Is the phone supposed to appear as a portable media player in Windows? Or do I have a problem with having the wrong drivers?
The reason why it seems like the drivers are okay is that using the standard windows explorer, I can copy a file from the PC to the phone--just not with an explorer alternative.
I'm in such a habit of using a dual pane explorer, I'd like to try to fix this if possible. Has anyone else been able to copy files to the Oneplus 3 using a dual pane explorer? Does your phone appear as something other than a portable media player? Or do I need to resign myself to use the standard windows explorer?
I finally fixed it. Seems to be my network adapters were using google dns servers. So this fixed my issue: http://ecross.mvps.org/howto/enable-netbios-over-tcp-ip-with-windows.htm.
