Call audio and Battery drain - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm using a G930F and Recently Iv'e switched to Linage OS from the previous rom which was Nyssa Nexus.
So i Performed a COMPLETE wipe on TWRP (including system) and flashed the LOS with a Pico GApps package.
The thing is when i call someone or answering an incoming call i can hear them but they cant hear me. it happens alot. I can put them on speaker but it solves nothing...
The second thing is the Battery........ after one year with the previous custom rom that the battery would last for a WHOLE day without charging, it just drains at mid day without even using it too much, something like one percent per minute.
Any Golden ideas?

Bump

Anyways it appears that do not disturb turns on automatically when I start a call.. as for the battery still no clue.

[Q] [Issue] During phone calls. Battery precent and status

I have a issue on my Epic 4G with Syndicate 1.0.2.
During phone calls. calling or receiving a call, the person on other side cannot hear me. (sometimes can but its very choppy and low)
But when I plug my headset into the headphone jack everything works fine. (using the headset)
^^^ Above Issue Fixed with a Re-Flash. ^^^^
I had 48% battery and did a reboot and for over 2 hours it was showing "charge icon" on battery, camera said "low Battery." and i used the phone for well over 40mins straight during this time. A battery widget showed it was at 5% battery.. bug? any help? Any resolve?

A bad flash maybe...after I flashed back from CWM7 back to Bonsai 3.1 I barely get texts while on the phone...
Plan to do a flash later today, will post an update.
(First time I flashed rom I did as directed, wipe 5x then flash)
Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G using XDA App
EDIT: Flashed again and everything works, Except I had 48% battery and did a reboot and for over 2 hours it was showing "charge icon" on battery, camera said "low Battery." and i used the phone for well over 40mins straight during this time. [Q] Different Kernel w/ CM11?

I am using CM11 and really love the ROM thus far, but since I installed it, I am noticing a HUGE decrease in battery life... I unplugged my phone at 6:45am today, for example, and it is now 9:12am and I've only used it to send 3 text messages and it received one phone call that was under 2 mins. I am down to 71%... this has never drained so fast until on CM11. Question is... can I use a different kernel and would that make any difference? Not sure why this is happening, but on SlimKat it seemed much better battery life, but the ROM was unstable for me with a few random lock ups and camera fails and such. Would even be willing to go back to a 4.2 ROM if needed.

My starting point would be to wipe cache and dalvik and boot leaving the device untouched to allow the caches to build for about 10 min then reboot. I'd give it another try if that was your initial process. All else being equal it's a valid place to start.

M8 with Android Revolution HD 10.2

I have some what of an odd problem with battery life and this rom. I've looked all over the net with just battery problems, and tried a few things. The most common problem I had when I was on 9.1 of this rom was my phone radio was always using around 40% of power even when wifi and data was off or just having one or the other on.
With 10.2 the battery life is much better, so was with 9.1 when I first installed it. I'm very new to this, this is my first rom, my first root.
First couple of days of installing the 9.1 AR HD my phone would be 100% through the whole night, and I'm talking 8+ hours of no use with 100%, not plugged in. Couple of weeks of use, and every night I would start losing 10%. I install the 10.2 AR HD update and again, phone lives through the night without even losing a single percent, then slowly starts losing more and more every new day when asleep.
A new install usually last me about a week and a half of battery life, then slowly starts draining faster where the battery is only good for a couple of days. What is causing such a major decrease in battery? Should I try clearing anything in the restore UI like catch and delvik, not sure what the second one was called?
I use the phone mostly for music, a phone call here and there, texting. And like I said, the very first install or update would get me about a week and a half, then starts degrading.
Thank you for your help.
Maybe a rogue app? Did you try not to install any apps after a factory reset to see if you have the same behaviour? You can also install an app like Gsam battery monitor or betterbatterystats which will tell you what is draining your battery
Yes, I have gsam, and that's where I knew the phone radio was being used at 40%, everything else looked normal. I also don't have many apps installed.
But like I said, the battery performance degrades after a week. I could start uninstalling things, don't think that would help me much as I only have less then 6-8 apps.
Try installing betterbatterystats. The partial wakelocks setting might give you more info
---------- Post added at 07:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:39 PM ----------
By the way do you have some Gsam screenshots to share? Maybe your phone signal is low and that's what's eating the battery
much hshysfo
Ok, so I cannot post links yet or anything like that. So maybe this will work.

Seriously I wish I had your stats. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your phone. 18 % in 19 hours is fantastic. What you see as radio 21h there is the same as phone active. Basically if your phone is not on airplane mode then radio is active. Nothing to worry about
I only did the update a day ago from 9.1 to 10.2. The problem I had with 9.1 was that after a few weeks of use, the battery life started to get bad. Which is why I'm trying to figure out if there is anything I could try when or if it starts happening again.
Or to be more precise, what would cause the phone to be so good for the first week of installing the rom then start degrading. Because that just makes no sense.

Anyone else getting severe battery drain from "Android OS" on 4.7.6 ?

My 5T is constantly losing battery due to "Android OS". I think it started when I updated to OOS 4.7.6 because it seems to have started within the last week or so, but I'm not sure.
I am currently sitting at 52% with 13 minutes of screen on time. 13 minutes.

I know it looks like it's because of poor mobile connection, but that's how it's always been with T-Mobile in my area. Like I said before it hasn't always done this, so it isn't that.
I am rooted with TWRP and Magisk. Nothing too fancy just a couple of Xposed modules that I installed the same day I got the phone. So I know it's not any of those either.
I have already tried using Greenify to kill everything in the background, resetting app preferences, and wiping the dalvik and cache with TWRP. None of these has had any affect.
I really don't want to wipe and redo my entire setup, but it's looking like I might have to. Or even downgrade from 4.7.6 to a previous version.
I would appreciate any help and/or suggestions.
None here, been running 4.7.6 for a while. Mine is rooted, my wifes phone is stock, also running fine. Both average 7.5-8 of SOT.
No issues here.
Wow. Since updating to 4.7.6 I have been waking up in the morning to "xyz app" is draining your battery. Usually it is drive which I never use and other times its play services but its nothing like what you are experiencing. My setup has been exactly the same for over two weeks with no added or removed apps, the only difference is the update from 4.7.5 to 4.7.6. I had it dialed in where I would lose 2% overnight consistently but now I have apps draining my battery overnight and the loss is considerably more than that. Hope you get it sorted out :good:

Have you tried better battery stats app to check what's draining your battery? I use that app and it's pretty good.
My phone setup is pretty much like yours, just root with magisk and xposed , no issues here. I'm on stock recovery but TWRP shouldn't matter too guess

Do 1thing i also updated using VPN and m on 4.7.6 version but the battery life is great. I am not rooted just on oxygen Os 4.7.6 without greenify or any such apps. The battery is amazing always 7 to 8hrs and more slot easily. I just cleared cache from recovery and storage after updating and its also recommended on Oneplus site to clear cache after updating. It worked for me when previously i had battery issues . Try it should solve your problems.
Updated to 4.7.6 (full zip via stop recovery) when I got the phone (a week ago) and did a factory reset. Battery is very good for me.

I had this issue on my pixel and nobody seemed to be able to help or offer an explanation, your case sounds extreme like mine was, you could literally see the battery percentage dropping 2-3% per minute and the phone was running super hot.
No idea of the cause but I fixed it by a full wipe of everything, internal storage included, reinstalled everything from scratch no backup app or cloud or anything literally everything clean install.
Hope you get it sorted.
Edit -to clarify, when I tried a clean install of the ROM wiping data cache and system I still had the same issue when i had restored my setup, even in different ROMs, it was baffling. For me it seemed to be wiping the internal storage that cured it, I just backed up pics and anything else I didn't want to lose to my pc just wiped the lot, redone my whole setup from scratch and problem solved.
Just an update in case anyone ends up having the same issue. I fixed it by disabling WiFi. I have no idea why WiFi is causing the severe drain it does, but now I can easily go three days on a single charge and get 6+ hours of screen on time. Even though my phone reports a poor 4G connection almost all the time.
I hope this issue gets magically fixed in Oreo in the same way it magically started in 4.7.6.

That's weird, my phone is connected to wifi a good part of the day and I don't have battery drain. Wifi was on for 22 hours and I have 55% left. The phone is close to 2 days without a charge. I usually get 2 days out of with with normal use and 3 with lighter use.
Have you tested with an app like "Wifi analyser" how is your reception ? I guess it would eat more power with poor reception.
I've had my phone for 3 days, just started, I did the update and a factory reset directly.
I did a test by cutting the mobile data at night and over 8 hours I lose 1% on the battery.
So for me it's very good! :good:
4.7.6 here, not rooted, no such problem
I have this problem too. AndroidOS seems to keep downloading something in the background. I was able to make the problem go away by setting a static IP address in the WiFi settings.
I have used my Oneplus 5T for 8 month, recently the battery is total terrible ,for not use ,and just open one app,it drops battery from 70% to 17% in 3 hour !!And i charged it in 43% ,again drops to 10% in one hour ,then in mins closed without any battery. What a big joke ,i contact the customer of Oneplus ,respond very badly and does nonsense .Mine is 8GB 128GB android 7.1 ,a total rubbish now.Anyone in the same occasion?

Then please do not whine about having a bad battery life. Or when you do not want to update (although your reasoning is not logical as I am on 8.1 latest offcial which is working flawlessly) you could try doing factory reset.
I had OP's issue.
Clear Google cache
Clear Google Play cache
Reboot into recovery, clear cache.
I'm not sure what is required but I do all 3 and it fixes the Android OS drain. Fewer steps may do it? Never tried narrowing it down. My wifi is always off. Location (high) always on. (history/tracking off) App auto-update off.
Based on my circumstances I have a feeling it has something to do with google play app update notifications not coming thru due to bad signal but that's a guess.

Battery life

Hi
After quite a bit of hassle, finally managed to get 15.1 and Gapps running on myZ2, latest lineage 17 November
Battery life is worse than awfull, 10% down in about 30 mins, with almost no apps running, greenify on for checking, just reddit and browser basically
So what's up? As with such a bad drainage i would have thought people were screaming, but haven't seen any posts on this
I have a motomod battery fixed a, sadly hadn't realised these weren't used by lineage ot i wouldn't have flashed....
Any ideas?

Battery mods should work on all ROMs built for Nash. My screen time is double what you're saying. I get roughly 6-7hrs screen time

I get great battery life on every ROM I've ran on this phone. 15.1 now for weeks with an average of over 8 hours of SOT
Hi
Your answer made me think
I unplugged the battery mod. Straight away the phone showed me that my internal battery was empty, strange...
Tried charging it, always showing empty... Stranger still
So I switched off the phone and started charging it, a couple of mins later, it showed 100%, bug in software somewhere....
I also charged the battery mod while unplugged, and then plugged it to the phone
Went into motomods in settings and restarted the mod
All seems perfectly normal now
It seems when flashing the rom with the mod plugged in confused the settings, might be better to unplug it so that the soft doesn't get confused
Many thanks
Minty95
PS : running the 18 nov update, the LED (white colour) sometimes on, how to switch it of or modify the settings ? haven't found the notifications settings yet

There is a known issue. Don't reboot the phone with your battery mod plugged in. The system will recognise it as the main battery. Plug it in after fully booting.

There is. Motorola didn't utilise it. In aosp, it is enabled.
Seams like I got to install a custom rom then, but first I got to read a lot about this device and how-to's before I try. Would like to get the led
The Z2 works far better with lineage than the stock rom, though it was a hassle getting it up and running
Still haven't managed to get trwp to stay
Sometimes the led is in though not for long and haven't figured out what switches it in
Battery Motomod works great, am very pleased with it so far

for twrp to stick, after you flash the rom, and before you reboot.. You need to flashthe twrp.zip.. The reboot into recovery, the boot system...
Think I tried that and got stuck in trwp, maybe I'll try again, though tired of reinstalling everything
Especially now all is just great, (exept the trwp)
I've got magisk installed but haven't learnt how to use it yet, as apparently it can install trwp also
