you can enable continuum over wifi(miracast)(It's working on Windows 10 and Some TV's). Just create this key:
Registry Type: Integer
Registry key path: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\shell\docking
Registry Value Name: EnabledForTest
Registry Value Data: 1

ok, sory)
1. you can install packages using telnet.(see this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-10-mobile/guide-filesystem-access-sftp-windows-10-t3185766)
2. you need verify version of packages and your w10m build(beter download it from https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com , search you build(like a 14393.1198) and download docking cbs (not cbsu))
3. use ftp/sftp to upload package on your phone
4. open telnet( telnet yourPhoneIp ) and go in c:\windows\servicing and updateApp.exe install PathToPackage (sometimes it give error ignore it and try again)

I dont know how many other people out there use androids built in vpn, but i hate the fact that you are required to use a security screen (pattern, pin, password) to do so. I have found a way to bypass this if you are rooted. This has only been tested on the stock kk rooted ota. However i would think it is the same on almost any stock based rom.
This assumes you already have your vpn and a security screen setup and working.
Go to the market and download a root capable data base (db) editor. I use SQLite Editor which is a paid app, but im sure there are free ones too.
Open the db editor. SQLite Editor sorts it by the app (in this case Android System) the data base is associated with, others may not work this way and may require you to navigate to the db file directly (/data/system/locksettings.db).
Open locksettings.db and select the locksettings directory. Look for the line that says "lockscreen.password_type". Under the value colum it will show some random number. Select the line and edit the value to be 0 (zero). Save if required by your db app, and restart your phone.
When it reboots you should no longer have a security lock screen only the swipe up screen. When you go to settings - more - vpn, it will still say you need to setup a security lock. Hit CANCEL, and it will show you your list of setup vpn's. Select one and connect. Boom working vpn with no pattern, pin, password screen required.
To undo this just go to settings - security - screenlock, and setup a new lock pattern, pin, or password.
You can also disable the swipe up lock screen by editing the "lockscreen.disabled" value in the locksettings.db to be a 1 instead of a 0.
good write up, thank you sir.
Where did you get stock kk rooted?
Sent from my HTC One
I was already unlocked and s-off, so i ruu'd took the kk ota and then rooted it. But i believe santod has his thread in development where you can download the stock rooted kk rom.
an alternative method
An add-on alternative update for relevancy. Using Samsung Note 3 4.3 MJ7 stock rooted.
Firstly, thanks OP for a nice clear guide for all on how to do this theoretically.
This is an alternative for those who aren't able to purchase SQLite Editor:
1. get a good freeware SQLite editor like for example SQLite Studio @ w w w sqlitestudio.pl
2. copy following files from your phone to the PC using some form of file explorer or whatever methods you can think of
/data/system/locksettings.db
/data/system/locksettings.db-shm
/data/system/locksettings.db-wal
3. open up the editor, load the locksettings.db and modify like what OP has mentioned
4. you will notice that the new saved DB is going to be a single file instead so just replace this file back into your phone and delete the OTHER files
5. reboot and done.
:highfive:
Alternative method
found it on another forum
The process does not require rooting its more like a bug
worked on my i9300 with 4.3 firmware
1. Add a VPN
2. Lock the device with a pin
3. Enter the pin wrong 5 times
4. Press OK to the message that pops up
5 Press Forgot Pin
6. Sign into your Google Account
7. Select pin lock
8. Press cancel.
and now u got unlocked screen with working vpns
the method works, but after I reboot, when I enter VPN screen is aks me for "password for credential storage"... how can I solve? thanks in advance

What I do here: just type something.. anything, doesn't matter. At least one character.
Then on the next screen, where it asks to set up a lockscreen, just Cancel.
This seems to be necessary once per boot -- any password, different time or the same, works.
After that it lands me on the VPN manager screen, all functional.
Well I kind of messed up. I tried to open with SQLite but it would give me an error 14. So i decided to try to open just like that using ES Explorer and edit it like regular note(SQL is totally different I had no idea). Anyways i didnt edit anything but now i cant set a pin or any type of security on my phone. When i try to set up a pin it still shows a swipe and when i try again my Note 3 freezes and get an error message saying settings stopped responding.
Any idea on how to fix this? Im rooted and im running the latest firmware 4.4.2 if that helps.

@anaheiim have you tried this recently? I tried to grab some firmware for the Lumia 521 for TMO and it wouldn't let me download the firmware. It keeps saying "Access is denied. Verify credentials." when you click the download button.
Looking at the exchange through Fiddler, I got the direct link for the ffu and was able to download it no problem via my web browser. I am hoping this is just a temporary server issue, but anecdotal posts indicate it's been broken for at least a couple of weeks.
You have installed "UserGroupsConfiguration"?

yes. I tried the one in in the OP as well as a few others. Everything works until you actually hit the download button. When you do, it says it was added to queue then pops up an "access is denied" error. (Then the program crashes due to poor error handling.) It looks like they deprecated the soap calls GetVariant3, GetVariant4, GetVariant, GetVariant5, and GetVariant2. Analyzing the actual packet it claims the server returned is a 500 - Internal Server error. The call at the beginning of the exchange for "GetVariantAll" works fine and returns all the URLs needed for download, so I am not sure why the additional calls are necessary.
For me, it works.
Try with this UserGroupsConfiguration.
@anaheiim. Same problem with that file. "access is denied". Also, I tried the DataPackageManager application. That returns "error while retrieving a list of variant packages" whenever I click "search".

Ok. Your tutorial works. One thing I missed:
1. Data Package Manager requires product type AND product code. I read it quickly and thought it was OR.
TL;DR: User error. I didn't follow the tutorial. Follow the tutorial!
Long Explanation:
I was trying to use the tools the way I had a couple of months ago (based on other tutorials all over the Internet) ....which didn't require downloading anything via "Data Package Manager". The "old" steps are as follows:
1. Launch "Product Support Tool For Store"
2. When asked to log in, select "CareSuite External" and press "Sign In"
3. Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Firmware Download"
4. Enter the product code for the required firmware and click "Check Online"
5. Check the box "optional Content Files" (I tried it both ways).
6. press "Download".
After I'd press download, a message would come up saying "access is denied" (see attached screenshot)

All I wanted was the FFU file so I could decompile it. I do not own a Lumia. When I tried to download the FFU file the way I usually do, it didn't work. (See earlier post). Using the additional tool provided in this tutorial (Data Package Manager 4.2), I was able to download the FFU file to my PC.
Hope that clarifies things!
When microsoft started releasing insider builds we were able to access system file through the file explorer even without interop capabilities just a trick using telegram so i'm wondering if their a tweak now using the interop to re-enable that again??
no need interop, just open it with MS Edge on address bar type "file:///u:/" without quote and hit enter

First, be careful while modifying registry or phone could become a brick.
Second, I expect this will help you but I´m not an expertise so take my words with caution and check other threads regarding registry mods.
1.- Unlock your phone following one of the different methods explained here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-10-mobile/list-unlock-utilities-guides-windows-10-t3261369
2.- Install or sideload a registry editor, -or use the one usually embedded on any interop tool you used before.
3.- Navigate through the registry to:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HomeFolderMobile\NameSpace\DelegateFolders
4.- Create there a new subkey and name it {3936E9E4-D92C-4EEE-A85A-BC16D5EA0819}
5.- Open that and assign value "Frequent Places Folder" to a string type registry input.
6.- Cross-check this, please, before attempting it as I could have missed some important point despite the care taken on the explanation.

I attempt to deploy the roottool.xap but it hangs and hangs and never installs.
I jsut noticed that in the Info section of the phone it now says ACERINC whch is one of the things I tried changing the phone registry to for manufacturer so......maybe I'm making progress here? I really don't know. Could not get either of the above to install.
Following it... only via W10 for desktop, no way for the remote registry editing via Windows 7 Professional?

The proper thread would actually be: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...app-interop-tools-versatile-registry-t3445271
The OP even includes instructions on how to unlock for other oem devices.

Make sure you're reading the Interop Tools installation instructions carefully and that you're using the one from the official thread which is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/win...app-interop-tools-versatile-registry-t3445271
It should install properly

When I install Interop tools on the X3 it does not show up anywhere, as an app or in the extras location.
Ok, link was posted. I downloaded the file and installed it. Now the problem I have is when installing interop tools. I copy to SD card, click the dependency files to install then install interop tools by clicking on it. It doesn't show up as an app and doesn't show up in extras.

also, that link has TBD written in the spot for the OEM files. So the files are unavailable.

I just updated the OP again. And where did you see it should be in extras? Don't follow or read the older thread that got posted, go to the storage settings, make sure interop tools isn't listed at all, if it is, uninstall it, then download the current pre-release 8 of beta 1.9, and read carefully the instructions. You are required to install using device portal. If it failed, device portal should give you a specific error code. Just make sure to follow the installation instructions from the official thread and everything should go alright.
Edit: reopen the thread and download the other missing ndtk spkgs zip too. Forgot to include it.

Ok, let me give this another shot! Thanks for the help, it is appreciated!
NDTK files
Ok, Got the NDTK files installed and it is restarting...
..OK.. Success. IT is installed, I can browse files from my PC and delete them. I deleted the system apps I don't use such as Xbox, Get Help, Continuum, etc. They immediately force close when clicked on in the start menu but do not disappear when the phone is restarted. I noticed the app files showed back up under Data\SYSTEMAPPS as well.
Does anyone know how to permanently remove these apps from the start menu?

Hello, XDA! Today, I'll be showing you how to get unlimited skips/song select in Spotify on the OnePlus 5.
Code:
/*
If you are rooted or you have adb enabled and installed
on your computer, skip to the bold section of this post.
If you don't have this done or you don't know how to
do this, read the whole post.
*/
This will require root (root guide for OnePlus 5 here, I recommend using Magisk and not SuperSU.) or ADB.
To enable ADB, just scroll down in Settings to About phone, scroll all the way to the bottom and press Build Number 7 times; this will activate Developer Mode. Go back to the main page in Settings, Developer Mode is near the bottom. From Developer options, you can activate USB debugging (which is ADB). You can download Android SDK Platform-Tools from here. Extract the .zip, go into the folder named platform-tools, and open CMD or Terminal (CMD for Windows, Terminal for Mac/Linux) and drag ADB into the CMD/Terminal to run ADB.
Code:
adb shell
would be
Code:
(drag adb file here) shell
but would show up as something like
Code:
/Users/username/Downloads/platform-tools/adb shell
Once you have rooted or enabled ADB, you can download a new app called jOnePlus Tools [adb/root] from the Play Store. jOnePlus is a modding application for the OxygenOS 4.5.x.
When you open jOnePlus Tools, it will ask for SuperUser Rights (if you are rooted). Select Grant to allow it to 'change' the system. It will then bring up a message that says Permission Denied and it will tell you to grant WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS by running
Code:
adb shell pm grant net.jroot3d.joneplustools android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
over USB. You can either connect your phone to your computer over USB and enable USB Debugging and run
Code:
adb shell pm grant net.jroot3d.joneplustools android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
on the computer. If you are rooted, you can skip the whole ADB step; just press GRANT WITH ROOT.
Once you've enabled permissions with adb or root, press the gear icon near the top right, press General, and then Enable experimental features. Go back to the main screen of jOnePlus Tools and press the square-circle shape near the top-middle of the screen. Scroll to the bottom and press 4k (2160x3840). It will lag a bit for about 20 seconds at most. Close Spotify if open. Now launch Spotify. (If your home screen appears to be messed up or corrupted, DON'T FRET! It may be confused because your device is telling it a different resolution. This is temporary.) If you can't click on home screen icons correctly, you can hold the home button to launch Google Assistant and say Open Spotify. When you launch Spotify, it should allow you to have unlimited skips/song select. This is because your Spotify sees your screen size as 2160x3840, a tablet size. The tablet version of Spotify has unlimited song select and skips. Spotify only checks your screen size when it launches, so you can go back to jOnePlus Tools and put you resolution back at Full HD (1080x1920) Default. If you close Spotify, you may need to change your resolution back to 4k again before launching if you want unlimited skips/select (and then back to Full HD Default after launching).

Thanks, but an easier solution is to directly install "spotify dogfood" : see dedicated xda thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/mod-spotify-dogfood-ad-free-spotify-t3632423
edit :
This mod works without root, it's just a simple apk to install
edit : they even have their own updater for the spotify dogfood moded app :
download it, install it and then you can have spotify dogfood always up to date.
*Note* You need to unistall any previous spotify version before installed the moded spotify

Is there any way to use Spotify in countries where it's not available without VPN ? I'm rooted if it helps

Pretty much yeah, you need a VPN only to register an account (and pay for the premium package).

You don't have to get premium, just register the account with a VPN and every month log in to that account from an IP where Spotify is available (it resets the 30day limit for free users)

Yes it is regularly updated, it even has its own updater app on the GitHub page. It also has adblocking in it.
