IT must vibrate, however if its not then
1. you must remove battery and insert it again after 5 mins (which sony service centre can do only) (may be local repair shop) but wouldn't advice, local shop may break your screen... OR
2. use rubber band trick, tie the rubber bands around z5 body in a way that it keep pressing power + volume down keys! , it may take 3-5 days for battery to completely DRAIN.
3. plug is to WALL CHARGER and may take many hours or a day for red led to start blinking and then few hours later it should come back to life.
you z5 is HARD BRICKED , rarely happens to z5 series! but it does happen!

well this usually comes up if mother board fails! but lets not go in to that right now! worse case scenario is that you may have to take it to service centre and ask for replacement motherboard. if it comes to that point! .... buy XZ

a red blinking led must appear!!!!
Should i remove the rubber bands?
I have the same situation at the moment. Waited days for it to discharge and charged it up for a day but still no status light. Tried the off switch and holding the power + volume up button.
I'm going to try the rubberband trick with the power + volume down and wait til the weekend to see if it works again.

Hi guys,
my phone just restarts today without any special hint of why it happened. Now it is in a bootloop with a restart every 7 seconds. I also cant get into fasboot because the phone automatically reboots in a too short period I used the CM10.2 unofficial now for 3 days without any problems.
Is there any way to get out of the loop? My phone was fully charged an hour ago so should last for the next 12 hours sad that i cant pull out the battery to turn it off.

Well that makes no sense I think. There were no problems before with the battery. Im also unable to navigate through bootloader with the volume keys. It seems it automatically pushes the power button all the time.
No I charged it to 100% this morning. No problems at all with battery life.
Is there really no way to turn the phone off? Well, bad bad HTC

Is the power button physically damaged and being depressed constantly? You may have to open the phone to take a look, or try GENTLY tapping the top-right corner off a hard surface.
All else failing...if you cannot reach bootloader or do anything practical with the phone, you will have no choice but to seek repair.
The power button is ok. I open the hox and i see no damage.
When you diconnect charger the hox turn off and dont Boot again. Right?

Now the HOX is empty. When I plug back in the charger the phone automatically starts bootlooping again.
The HOX does bootlooping ALL the time no matters if there is sth. plugged in.
The power button is not damaged. I dont want to open the case cause its glued and there is a risk to brake the display.

Yep I think so, too. So wainting until monday and sending it in for repairs -.-
Have you tried getting into fastboot by
Adb reboot fastboot
While it was bootlooping? It may pick it up and actually boot into bootloader. I'm not sure if you need acces to fastboot for this its worth a try

It is the power button that is constantly pressed. The circuit is disorted by water or something. I had the same thing.
If you open your HOX, wait till the white boot screen shows up, and then disconnect the power button flex cable, it boots normally. You can buy a replacement part for only a few dollars on eBay.

Hey,
I have just received a HTC One M8 from eBay but it won't turn on, plugging it into charge puts a solid orange light up, plugging it into PC it is never seen (no bee-boop) So har I have tried:
Charging it for 3hours+
POWER & Vol+ (15-30seconds) (Plugged and Unplugged)
POWER & Vol- (15-30seconds) (Plugged and Unplugged)
POWER (30Seconds+) (Plugged and Unplugged)
Removing Sim Tray & SD Card Tray
Anything else I can try, or should I just send it back to eBay seller?
EDIT: I have also tried the above in the presence of a bright light.
It won't make a noise when you connect it to the pc if it's off.
Did you buy it with no indication it had problems? Was it really cheap? Sounds like you got ripped.... Unless seller indicated it had issues.

Could be an honest DOA. I'd contact the seller.

Hold the power button awhile... If nothing, return it. Not much else you can do.
And why mess with something you bought and should work. ?

Could actually be the power button is bad.
I had suspicions about power button, but there's no way to confirm.
Plus the light hasn't gone to green yet, or any charging animations.

I agree, try the different button combos for longer periods of time, even a minute or more (as I've seen a report or 2 where this actually worked). Try it with the wall charger connected, and try to charge for longer 6 or 8 hours) and try the button combos.

Agree here, too. If charging for several hours, and button combos don't work, contact the seller for a return and refund.
Well, thats another story then. Probably not the power button.
Yeah I do agree I should return it, just a pain to get to post office to send it back.
Hello everyone,
So my friend borrowed my phone to take a selfie and returned it shortly afterwards(im giving this info because i cant say if it shut down while my friend was using it or while it was in ny pocket). I just put it in my pocket and after about 20 minutes i wanted to see the time and it wouldnt turn on.
I tried pressing only the power button and nothing, i tried power + vol+ it didnt work, waited to get home to recharge, put it on my charger and no led no nothing.
I am just wondering what could be the problem and is there a way to fix it? Is it the battery? Im asking to see if it is worth to spend money to repair it as i bought a new phone.
Also the water damage indicator on the back is pink but i have never exposed it to water. (That has been pink for over a month before it died).

Thanks for the reply I understand everything i have to do. Its just that this is my first time dealing with a hard brick and didnt know whether i could fix this myself or i should take it to repairs.
I have tried this method about a week ago and the led wouldnt glow and the phone wouldnt turn on. I have read now that i should charge it for 16+ hours and then try again.(first red LED then try)
Currently my laptop is in repairs, as soon as i get it back ill try the charging for 16+h method and the rubber band method.
I have root and unlocked bootloader so i dont have anything to worry about right?

Hi,
My uncle gave htc one m8 as a gift to me. He had bought it from Dubai. I have Started the mobile and filled all the personnel information to set up software. After that software update had come and it is downloading the update it is downloading slowly so i went outside i came back to home and checked my phone it was off i thought the charging is over and kept the charging but red led notification is not blinking after that i switched on the phone but phone doesn't start. The next day i went to the HTC authorized service centre and we have expalined the problem to them they said its a major problem but they are not saying the exact problem to us. and also we cannot send to service because it is dubai's model pls help me what do now...... Please help.............
First step would be to try another charger and cable.
If it still won't charge, it's likely the mini USB port or some other hardware issue.
try hard restart by holding the volume up until it restarts (maybe it will work)
do you feel the heat from your device or be in totally dark place do you see your screen bright?

I would suggest keeping it on the wall charger (not connected to PC) for several hours. Then try to power on again, or the button combo I gave above, as well as power+vol down.

A friend of mine gave me dead Note-2, does not respond to buttons, battery inside was completely discharged.
I tried to hook it up to the charger, no signs of life, put precharged battery in, still nothing (in another words it does not respond to any buttons pushes or plugging into the charger).
Phone is in perfect cosmetical (close to like-new condition), no signs of water damage, so what else to look at or try to bring it back to life? I put the battery into my alive Note-2 it charges fine.
Phone ever dropped? Possible loose connection?
If you are using a Windows computer, does anything appear in device manager when the phone is connected?
Not a single dent on the besel or screen dry inside (I already took the back cover off), no mechanical damage inside, sadly no signs of life when hooked up to computer....
You took off the battery cover or the frame surrounding the motherboard, battery compartment, etc?
Have you tried leaving it on a charger for a few hours?

Yes took it apart all the way to PCB, no fully charged the battery up in another phone.
You did everything I could think of other than swapping out parts, I at a time.
The phone may have to be examined by a repair shop or Samsung.
Ok when the phone is left with the charged battery inside, the whole screen surface and battery gets noticeably warm, not burning, but evenly warm.
Is it possible that the screen is dead? The only way to really tell would be to put the motherboard into another phone. Don't know of any other way to really diagnose the problem as there is nothing on the screen when connected to a charger.

Its hard bricked, probably due to one of a few reasons.
1) it had a locked bootloader and someone flashed TWRP in an attempt to root it, a common cause.
2) someone rooted it, flashed TWRP then somewhere along the line flashed a ROM for a different device, also a common cause.
3) someone tried to update it manually by flashing a stock update in Odin but flashed the wrong firmware, or part of a firmware, again a common cause.
4) it had a locked bootloader and someone improperly tried to unlock it.
There are some more but aren't very common.
Have you tried a USB jig to see if it boots to download mode? If so you can flash the stock firmware and maybe revive it.

Its a device that costs $3-4 USD on eBay, it forces the device into download mode even of it won't with the buttons.
You can also make one with an old USB cord and a 300k resistor or combo of resistors equalling nor more and no less than 300k.

Or, if you have a sdcard to put in it you can convert the sdcard to a bootable drive by using a debrick.img for your device, if you can find one or get someone to pull a copy from their device.
That makes the phone boot from sdcard, then you can restore everything back to the device then return the sdcard to normal use.

USB jig works on all Samsung devices, they are made that way purposely. also, it isn't guaranteed to boot it to download depending how bricked it is, but if its all possible for the device to perform the function, it will do it.
Yes I have SD card and another Note-2, where are the instructions how to make that debrick.img?
No PC does not see it, does not vibrate and I tried every button combination with no luck.
It took a few minutes to make USB jig, tested on another phone, works sadly does not do anything to the patient

Here, this is the method, the thread says its for S3 but the method works on other Samsung devices also, the debrick.IMG has to be from the same exact model, can't use a debrick.IMG from a different model number. Use this method, just find your debrick.IMG and use it, also, make sure you understand the partition structure on your note 2 and you know which partition is which and which mmcblk0 each of your partitions are in, if you get the partitions wrong you will have wasted your time.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660566
This method doesn't work if the device doesn't at least vibrate when holding power.
I weep for dead notes...
