Twrp otg - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Hi can anyone help out perhaps I have found that otg support is not there iff booted into twrp recovery. I have the latest twrp and I needed to flash one of the roms to test so trying it through otg but otg not recognised when selected. I've never had this problem before with otg and twrp on any other phone. I can confirm that otg support is their in normal mode and works fine but not in recovery hope someone can help with this.

boot into twrp go to install subsection then press on select storage select otg over there.

Fixed it now I needed to format the usb drive in phone first.

I'm currently in TWRP mode but can not reboot because no operating system.
My tab s 10.5 is currently connected to my PC so at the very least it will not shut down (100% battery).

Either ADB side load the rom, or put it on a USB stick and use a OTG adaptor.

How would I do that? I transferred the ROM to my usb stick (64gb) and connected it to my tab s 10.5 with a micro>regular usb dongle but the usb stick isn't showing up when i try to Install the rom.

Did you select your external USB in TWRP?

Yes, I pressed Storage and got the select storage: menu but the USB-OTG (0mb) option is not available.
Im trying a different USB stick.
Would the file system matter? Its NTFS.
Im currently in TWRP; If i click reboot > recovery would it boot me into TWRP ? im scared of bricking a deviced I saved up money for
It's pretty hard to brick a device. I never have. Format a stick fat32 or exfat to see if that works.
Oh man, thanks a lot. I tried to install the rom with another usb stick with fat file system and it worked.
Awesome!
can you use odin to to flash the firmware ?
it cannot read NTFS... save bet will be 32bit. dont know about exfat

OTG at stock recovery

does the stock recovery supports OTG? like for installing rom through usb drive
since mine apparently got corrupt because OTA update, and now just having bootloop with dm-verity error
it doesn't get detected to PC at all, volume up holding, fastboot, adb sideload, none even detects in PC (not even new device connected in device manager)
though it might be the usb port itself that's busted (although it still can charge just fine)
but i'd like to know first if the stock recovery supports installing from OTG or not, since OTG would be cheaper if it's possible

Which TWRP has support OTG ?

I tried some TWRP ,but all has not support OTG drive. Any TWRP with OTG working , available ?
All twrp have otg working
Orange Fox twrp supports otg..try it
Buy new otg cable. EZ

Firetv stick 4k bricked

I unlocked the bootloader, I did a wipe data and now the firestick is stuck on the firetv black screen, cant access the menu, cant connect through adb with the computer connected via usb.
I can access TWRP with otg cable and mouse, but I dont have any rom to flash on device, so I cant reflash it, I dont have access to adb to push it either.
If I connect a usb hub to the otg, and connect the mouse and a usb stick at the same time, can I access the usb stick memory to flash the rom zip file?
Help
Update:
Problem solved I did the unlock bootloader process again as Pretoriano80 advised and it worked, I got access again to TWRP, used adb to push the rom and flashed the rom again.
Thank you.

Yes, if you connect a mouse + usb stick (fat32) you will be able to flash a stock rom. In TWRP you will have to switch from internal memory to the OTG stick.
Thank you for the answer thats good news.
So any usb hub should work right, i will have to buy one.

If TWRP works, then you can push a stock firmware from PC to the FireTV Stick with ADB. Just make sure that your stick is connected to your pc with the original USB cable (not OTG).
I already tried.
When connecting directly to pc, no otg cable, I cant use adb, looks like after I wiped data the device lost the adb.
I tried adb shell it says no devices/emulators
I tried adb devices, none listed
So I cant connect through adb, I cant access recovery nor I can push the flashable rom.
The only way I can access is with otg cable + mouse.
That leaves me with only one option, use the hub to connect mouse + stick to the otg cable and flash through otg usb in TWRP.

TWRP's ADB should work, but probably you can't boot into TWRP without OTG. The solution is to do the unlock procedure again so after the last step it should boot to TWRP automatically.
If that fails, then you can buy an USB hub.
Thank you for helping really appreciate that.
I will run the procedure again, will keep you posted about the results.
Ok tried it
No response from device
After ./bootrom-step.sh it says waiting for bootrom, I do the short connect the device but the computer doesnt recognize it, keeps saying waiting for bootrom no matter what I do.
So I think theusb hub is the only resource now.

Firetv fixed, thank you very much!

Great! No problem, it happened to me once and has been the only that worked for me (without the need of an usb hub, of course), so i was pretty sure that it would work for you too.

Question USB OTG flash drive isn't recognized by LineageOS recovery

Has anyone else gotten a USB flash drive to work with LineageOS 19 recovery? I've tried both FAT32 and exFAT formatting, but no go; the only option when selecting "apply update" is to update via ADB sideload. On other devices I own (OnePlus 7 Pro, Google Pixel 4 XL, OnePlus 3T, Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite), the flash drive is seen without a problem, and I can flash updates to the device from whatever recovery (LOS or TWRP) I'm using. Is this a known limitation of the OP9Pro, or do I have to do something specific to mine (LE2125, unlocked bootloader) in order to get it working?
I believe the instructions say to side load with ADB!

Yes, thank you, it's what I already do because USB flash drives aren't recognized. The point I am making is that every other device I own recognizes USB flash drives in recovery, but the OP9Pro does not. I am curious as to why the OP9Pro is different, and would be interested in finding out what, if anything, can be done to overcome this difference.
Try formating the flashdrive with the phone root explorer.....I had to do that once before...
