Disappointing - Unstable - Buggy- UN USABLE! - Paranoid Android Q&A

I have a Nexus 6P and i just installed 7.2 as a test. ive been running purenexus and i must say, its disappointingly unstable. i cant use gboard, chrome, Instagram, google assistant, etc. they almost constantly crash to the point of un-usability. Clean install, whipped whole device then did a full flash with open gapps pico, rooted with magisk and finsihed it off with Franco's Kernel. I abuse the living hell out of Pure Nexus and its still more stable than a fresh install.

That's weird, what you posted doesn't seem to look like a question ??

Fyi most of the time the rom's kernel is to blame, it's like Resurrection Remix' one.. Flash a custom kernel because the default one isn't good.
So instead of *****ing why not try out a separate kernel to to use with PA7.2

You should ask for your money back.......

Latest PlayStore update forces close

I am running latest nightly AOKP ROM which is still KitKat. Today I noticed the PlayStore has been updated and everytime I open it, it forces close immediately. I uninstalled all updates to revert it back to the older factory version and it worked fine. Anyone experiencing this with the PlayStore? Did Google screw up? My N5 is running the same AOKP nightly and it's working fine.
I ran into that issue on my Nook HD+ running CM11. For me, the fix was to flash the inverted Play Store 5.0.38 zip made by Archangel. I believe it is coded to not auto update. Other 5.0.32 versions I tried auto updated and gave me the same issue you describe.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494145 Zip is in the OP on the thread above. Be sure to grab the KK version. To be safe, uninstall updates to Play Store before flashing.

What's the most stable or bug-free custom ROM?

Is there any ROM that is completely bug-free, or at least doesn't have basic features broken? I've seen lot of threads about custom ROMs where a worrying number people report serious issues. Like no GPS, no deep sleep, severe battery drain, broken modem, etc.
For what it's worth, this is for a rooted E980 20g with CWM recovery 6.0.4.4 that has never had a custom ROM (still has stock Kit Kat 4.4.2). I want something based on Lollipop but I'd settle for Kit Kat if it meant no issues. I'm kind of a noob, so the fact that there are seemingly dozens of custom ROMs has overwhelmed me...
im looking for it too
Best for you is to go and test every one of them.
Im also looking for it bro....

There is a quick-fix for camera in forums; for blackouts - try with Wildkernel, build 4 or 5.

You're flashing kernel, not ROM. No need for data wiping, just flash kernel and reboot.

That is not even remotely feasible. It would takes weeks of research and testing, and the entire time the device would be useless, given the high chance of major bugs. There's just too many custom ROMs available for your suggestion to be practical.

There are 3-4 actively built AOSP-based custom ROM's for E980 (CyanogenMod, BlissPop, SlimLP... I'm not mentioning hack-roms made from stock), and you can test them in maybe 3-4 days, if you use each for 24h at least. Total time to backup, flash and restore is maybe 1.5 hours so it isn't a big thing, can be done at night, right before you go to sleep.
I can give you recommendations what to test (which isn't quite necessary when you have a choice between 3-4 ROMs, isn't it?); I can't tell you which ROM is 'the best' simply because what is maybe good for me is not good for everyone else.
Thing is, if you want to try custom ROMs, you try CM first. If it satisfies, ok, you use it. if it doesn't, you go and test another one. Back in the time I was searching for perfect ROMs, there were mabye 10-12 source-built roms (again, I'm skipping those stock-based hack-roms) and I've tested every one of them in course of two-three months, searching for the one which would work great and is customizable to the great extend.
So yeah, changing software on your phone actually involves some testing and reading, not getting everything 'pre-chewed' and ready.
Latest cm11 snapshot (not cm12.1 or cm12) this is pretty stable and is kitkat 4.4.4 based.
Justlovejoy cm11 is better than the cm11 snap12 , since the dev modify the ROM some more. The battery life is better than the most ROM you're able to find IMO. Here is the download link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60430532

The SlimLP port for our device is really nice and stable. MMS works on it as well, which is not available with stability on other ROMs. Also it is very smooth and has a nice battery life as well.

Yep! I was installed Slim LP on my e989 and work very very good!
I was tested with Cyanogen (w/o radio) , BlissPop (great ROM but random reboots and black screens) and finally SlimLP w/o any problems in 4 days. The battery life time is so good. I downspeed muy procesador from 1.7 to. 1.3 and The time is incrrased some hours.
(Sorry my bad english. I speak Spanish)

I am in the same boat.
CM works for me, but the screen turning black and requiring a reboot makes it not really usable. Especially if you use your phone for work, because in the middle of typing a texting or something your phone screen will go black and you will need to reboot. (Although the screen is black, it is still responsive so if you have good enough memory to know where you are pressing on the screen I guess you can send what you need before rebooting)
Tried blisspop, but same issue.
Tried installing the wild turkey kernel but it puts my phone in a constant reboot loop, and if it does load then everything is broken. Tried installing it 3 different ways via factory reboot.
Also, every rom install/update for CM and Blisspop, I had to install the audio fix rom from dangdavy to get audio on phone calls. My Plantronics Voyager Edge also doesn't work with voice assistant and the mobile hotspot does not work.

is this good news for us?

sorry if posted in wrong place
It's been out for a couple weeks now.
I've tried building it but the source is missing a bunch of ****. I was able to successfully build the kernel into a zImage. I will try soon to turn it into a flashable kernel and see if it works with ROMs such as Fulmics. I will likely post it here and on reddit's /r/lgg3 for testers. I'm assuming there should be no problems with it, but I couldn't determine which version of Marshmallow it was running. Hopefully it doesn't matter.
---------- Post added at 03:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:53 PM ----------
Oh, also, it's still listed on T-Mobile as Manufacturer Development, so it's quite possible it's buggy. One of the biggest reasons I want the kernel though is because Fulmics has a few problems with T-Mo, especially with the proximity sensor keeping the screen off.

Is this a ROM? I think there is no Google PlayStore Edition of the htc10?!
There is no GPE of the HTC 10, version only available on M7 and M8 and there is no official Cyanogenmod rom actually. Maybe some unofficial CM13 versions but never tested on HTC 10 and don't know anything about their stability.
---------- Post added at 05:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:18 PM ----------
But you can disable applications in the applications settings if you don't want the phone to load it at start and then, install the app you want from PlayStore or apk file.

Now I'm going to try this ROM I wish it will be good for daily drive.
I'm disappointing because there is no "pure android ROMs" and no "official CM" for our phone..
Just install either cm13 or resurrection remix or did what I did and flash venom and only keep what you need. Everything works that way.
If you don't use Android Pay or Pokomon Go, then I highly recommend Viper 10 ROM, many mods built in and the Aromo Installer can let you choose remove Sense and other HTC apps.
But 1st thing you should do is to unlock bootloader in HTCDev, then flash custom recovery (e.g. TWRP), then you can install Viper 10 custom ROM.

default OS marshmallow based on CyanogenMod

Hello guys , recently i purchased Nextbit Robin, after seeing its interface i was little bit surprised because it came with CyanogenMod (6.0) preinstalled not Stock marshmallow ... I'm facing wierd issues like data consumption issues .... Instant Messaging apps are using very high data & in data consumption tab Android OS is consuming very high
I don't want to use this rom because of above mentioned issues , and battery backup is not good ...
Plz can anyone help me in installing stock MM/N??
Hi there, well i'll assume that you bought a used Nextbit Robin, in that case you have two options.
1-. you can get it back to stock following this post on Razer official page:
https://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?threads/robin-factory-images-and-usb-driver.21487/
2-. you can install whatever other rom you want to try ie: paranoid, lineage, omni or carbonRom. just to mention some of them
in case you bought it like new you should speak with your seller
As @pay_omar said you likely bought used so I too would highly recommend you to install the stock firmware asap and stop using the old CM you never know what the earlier owner or the seller have done with that custom ROM.
