What's the most stable or bug-free custom ROM? - LG Optimus G Pro

Is there any ROM that is completely bug-free, or at least doesn't have basic features broken? I've seen lot of threads about custom ROMs where a worrying number people report serious issues. Like no GPS, no deep sleep, severe battery drain, broken modem, etc.
For what it's worth, this is for a rooted E980 20g with CWM recovery 6.0.4.4 that has never had a custom ROM (still has stock Kit Kat 4.4.2). I want something based on Lollipop but I'd settle for Kit Kat if it meant no issues. I'm kind of a noob, so the fact that there are seemingly dozens of custom ROMs has overwhelmed me...

im looking for it too

Best for you is to go and test every one of them.

Im also looking for it bro....

There is a quick-fix for camera in forums; for blackouts - try with Wildkernel, build 4 or 5.

You're flashing kernel, not ROM. No need for data wiping, just flash kernel and reboot.

That is not even remotely feasible. It would takes weeks of research and testing, and the entire time the device would be useless, given the high chance of major bugs. There's just too many custom ROMs available for your suggestion to be practical.

There are 3-4 actively built AOSP-based custom ROM's for E980 (CyanogenMod, BlissPop, SlimLP... I'm not mentioning hack-roms made from stock), and you can test them in maybe 3-4 days, if you use each for 24h at least. Total time to backup, flash and restore is maybe 1.5 hours so it isn't a big thing, can be done at night, right before you go to sleep.
I can give you recommendations what to test (which isn't quite necessary when you have a choice between 3-4 ROMs, isn't it?); I can't tell you which ROM is 'the best' simply because what is maybe good for me is not good for everyone else.
Thing is, if you want to try custom ROMs, you try CM first. If it satisfies, ok, you use it. if it doesn't, you go and test another one. Back in the time I was searching for perfect ROMs, there were mabye 10-12 source-built roms (again, I'm skipping those stock-based hack-roms) and I've tested every one of them in course of two-three months, searching for the one which would work great and is customizable to the great extend.
So yeah, changing software on your phone actually involves some testing and reading, not getting everything 'pre-chewed' and ready.

Latest cm11 snapshot (not cm12.1 or cm12) this is pretty stable and is kitkat 4.4.4 based.

Justlovejoy cm11 is better than the cm11 snap12 , since the dev modify the ROM some more. The battery life is better than the most ROM you're able to find IMO. Here is the download link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60430532

The SlimLP port for our device is really nice and stable. MMS works on it as well, which is not available with stability on other ROMs. Also it is very smooth and has a nice battery life as well.

Yep! I was installed Slim LP on my e989 and work very very good!
I was tested with Cyanogen (w/o radio) , BlissPop (great ROM but random reboots and black screens) and finally SlimLP w/o any problems in 4 days. The battery life time is so good. I downspeed muy procesador from 1.7 to. 1.3 and The time is incrrased some hours.
(Sorry my bad english. I speak Spanish)
Enviado desde mi Ericsson T28 World mediante Tapatalk

I am in the same boat.
CM works for me, but the screen turning black and requiring a reboot makes it not really usable. Especially if you use your phone for work, because in the middle of typing a texting or something your phone screen will go black and you will need to reboot. (Although the screen is black, it is still responsive so if you have good enough memory to know where you are pressing on the screen I guess you can send what you need before rebooting)
Tried blisspop, but same issue.
Tried installing the wild turkey kernel but it puts my phone in a constant reboot loop, and if it does load then everything is broken. Tried installing it 3 different ways via factory reboot.
Also, every rom install/update for CM and Blisspop, I had to install the audio fix rom from dangdavy to get audio on phone calls. My Plantronics Voyager Edge also doesn't work with voice assistant and the mobile hotspot does not work.

data problems
is the 3g on the latest build working? the only build with working 3g is nameless rom's one
Please tell me the sound for incoming call is still low and the gps is working? Thanks.
Does anyone know what would be causing 94% miscellaneous battery usage?
Netflix
Thanks for the rom!
Can report that Netflix does not work with this rom.

GPS doesn't lock at all
The rom is built pretty solid, and thank you for your work, but the GPS doesn't lock on at all. I've done the GPS test (an app that is on the play store) but it doesn't detect a GPS at all. Also, i've tried changing the gps.conf file to my country but it still doesn't lock on. Any ideas how to workaround this hiccup?
p.s I stay in Singapore, if that helps at all.
THANKS
Having trouble with gps also. It aquires my position on gmaps, but takes a while to update again and when it does the accuracy is all over the place unless i stop and wait a while for it to update again then it's fairly accurate until i start driving again.
Not doing anything different with my phone placement and it's always worked excellent.
I'm in Australia if that makes a difference. I did see another Aussie with some gps issues i think and iirc he reflashed the rom and it fixed it maybe? I'll try this when i get home if no other solutions are offered in the meantime. Thanks
Update: i flashed the rom again along with gapps (not sure if i should just do rom only?) and it has not helped the gps problem. I don't get any gps lock in other programs.
Hey OP, is it possible to post some sort of changelog for ur updates? The rom is amazing btw i love it
GPS problem
First of all, I would like to thank you for this awesome rom.
I have an issue with the GPS just as others have already stated before. Can you look at it?
I use AGNI kernel (latest), and your rom.

Torch/Flashlight app/widget missing
Hey, thanks heaps for the ROM I'm really enjoying it!
I installed version 20150127 and noticed the flashlight widget was missing from the notification draw as well as the cyanogenmod torch app (maybe this is the cause?).
I have no idea if that has been fixed in 20150128 or if it is even your issue or CM's.
Just making you aware in case compiling the CM apps into the ROM went bad without you knowing.
Thanks again for the amazing ROM
can I use this ROM for E250K (Korea Variant)... Or U know any ROM, pls share w me .. Thanks
LTE data connection not stable
after I flash this , LTE connection is not stable. it doesn't work after reboot or changing back and forth for airplane mode. I only get it to work after I change Preferred Network Type to 3G and back to LTE. but after working for a while, it doesn't work again. does anyone encounter this issue? I'm flasing 0128 build.

Hello there! Noob question, what are the requirements for flashing this rom? I'm currently on JB 4.2 running on DN3 ROM.
Touch Wake
Is there any way to enable the touch wake function? It's in AGNI, but I didn't want to mess with how smooth this is running. Touch Wake as in able to touch the screen to keep it awake when it first goes to sleep. Thanks! BTW great ROM. Looks great and works great.

Make sure you do a complete backup first, and then do a complete wipe for new install, then install the ROM, and then install the GApps downloaded from the first post. Works perfectly for me so far. :good:

Nope, mine is pretty stable. Try the latest one perhaps?

Every 5.1 ROM is causing random reboots. What am I missing?

I have tried multiple unoffical versions of Cyanogen, as well as the official 05/19 build and OctOS 5.1.1 and I am still getting random reboots. Using TWKP and always doing a full wipe.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Take out the SD card and format your entire phone. Then flash your ROM. Most l ROMs have a few bugs. If you aren't down for that, use enewmans srx3.
The random reboots seem to be happening on other phones that also use the msm8960 chip.

dependable rom

I have a sprint LG G3 on lollipop. I had to flash back to KitKat to get it rooted, then I flashed to resurrection remix which is a nice rom but whenever I had to reboot it would get stuck in a boot loop. I decided to go back to stock.
My question is.. what is a dependable rom out there right now I can flash too and not have issues ? I would stay stock but I need to have my phone rooted ( which will only work on KitKat ) so I can turn up the volume. So.. my choice is to stay stock and have low audio, flash back to KitKat and root but deal with constant upgrade messages, or find a dependable rom. thanks for any help !!
hey download volume boost for lgg3 and itll boost your volume i use it if u download it my stock levels are like 53 63 63 63 so i changed them to 63 70 70 and 70 and it works im half deaf and i gotta turn it down but i have thd problem with extremly low volume but not any more thats the 1 of the reasons we were tryin to vet u root wasnt it

as for kk i stayed on kk until like a month or so ago i dont know about sprint but long press ure updTe notifaction itll take u to ure apps screen under setti gs then u can click the check box for show notifacations

i personally liked the d50 kk stock rom once i vot the bugs worked out only reason i switched was so i could get rid of my att icon and keep my lte icon
that volume boost app I have to be rooted which means id have to go back to KitKat, I was trying to have an updated rom and stay rooted basically.
what varient u got again
I decided to flash back to KitKat so I could root and install the volume app so everything is working good. I may still install a custom rom if I can find a good working stable one. I think its great everyone that develops but its a pain messing with the bugs
that it is but even the stock roms loaded thats why i stayed kk xidnt seem like as many bugs as loli if i had my way id go back to icecream i think it would run great on g3 just all the fetures would be missing how u like that volume app

As far as (non stock) ROMs go, I've had good success with both Cyanogen (used nightlies) and Blisspop (currently using their latest stable release). I just wish that one of them would support low energy bluetooth and also hopefully one day Android Pay or some other similar service (I like the concept) will get worked into one of these custom ROMs.
Hopefully you'll find something that works for you. Good luck...
The volume app works great, I think my G3 has audio issues because I have to turn the app up to 90 on the settings to get it louder. I purchased and replaced the loudspeaker and the ear speaker and the sound still sounds "rattled" at times. There is soo many roms out there its getting difficult to choose whats a good stable one or not. We need a page of proven stable rom's with no issues and then the others it would make it much easier. I end up reading pages of a rom I like then find out there is issues which I understand people have to find the bugs.
go straight do your device page then click roms i love multi varient roms but one that might run good on mine might have a problem on ures id try straight on ure page

I'm not for sure but most likely CM14 would work.
And I know ,when it comes out, @tx_dbs_tx N7 port is based on pj1. Which is only 1 firmware away, so it might work.
But this file isn't gonna flash the firmware part that would be the base. You have to use the Odin file to flash the boot loader and modem.
This file is for after you update to pk1. If you want to stay stock but without all the bloat. And deodexed for easier modding.

@carlosggb what's your thoughts on this update as far as basic smoothness, battery life, network and such? Better, worse, about same? Or is it mainly security updates?
Thanks.
@aaron74 , i feel battery life was great the first day, which is not easy to get on a first cycle, performance is good but havent had enough time to push it as im working with @13druber on Dtux Rom v7 so my phone is in test mode.
But it feels solid and is the safest yet too, so if security is a concern, this is the way to go, PK1

Thanks, I'm getting ready to Odin it now.
Plus awesome to hear about Dtux v7. Besides testing cm14 and N7 ports, It's the only N4 software Rom I use. It's the most customisable Rom that's still N4ish. If that makes any sense to ya.
Looking forward to it.

You can rerun the modset all the times you want, just take these two things in consideration:
1-If you change kernel you must leave ticked Supersu and Busybox on the last page, otherwise untick them.
2-On the first page after clicking on installation, Make sure you pick"Apps and Extra Mods" instead of "Install ModSet" when you are adding new apps, xposed modules or just changing other settings.
ENJOY DTUX ROM!

Application (or modification of ROM ?) For dual sim disconnection management

Hello,
First of all I draw my hat from all the developers who create ROMs, and this volunteer, so that our smartphones can benefit from a passage towards Android Nougat.
I use the ROM LineageOS/CM14.1 (update of 08/05/2017) which I am very happy with.
However, one thing I miss on this ROM : the ability to manage the disconnection of a sim, in the case of a dual sim smartphone? (for me for exemple Lenovo k5 A6020A40). This possibility exists on the STOCK ROM.
I have been searching for several days on the net if someone has found a solution. A priori no : no application on play store usable on Android Nougat.
Shreps (which I thank for the time it takes to respond to the newbies like me, and to improve the custom rom) answered me on a thread that it would be a "core" modification of the ROM Lineage .
For my part I would be interested in this modification, and ready to pay a donation of 30 € for the dev team who was found a solution (This is a small amount, but my means are limited ).
If other people are interested, and willing to also make a donation, it might eventually bring together enough money to thank the developers for the extra time they would spend on this change, If they have the time to do it of course.
I don't know if it's possible to constitute a "prize pool" which would thank a team for his work. I only saw the possibility of making a donation to a particular developer.
This dual sim management modification could possibly in addition benefit other Dual Sim Smartphones, and developer teams.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Have a good day.
PS: sorry for this bad English : translation software

Hello,
I just tried the application. Does not work for me. Black screen after startup. My Lenovo k5 does not offer me to enter the pin code of sim cards.
I would have tried. So strongly that Androïd moves on its side, so that the developers of XDA or Lineage can make us a change in SIM management.
I have no doubt that they will succeed, when I see all that they can achieve.
Have a good day.
Hi all, I also tried the Play Store apps, and it seems there is a kernel concern too. I tried this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pt.joaormf.mtkcontrol.free&hl=fr
It seems to work when I'm on stock ROM, but in my Resurrection Remix M ROM with Vegito kernel, it has absolutely no effect...

Hi,
I have already tried this application. But does not work at all with the Custom Lineage rom. And with the stock rom (5.1 rom) it is unnecessary in my case because it manages perfectly the individual disconnection of the sim.
I saw on the Lineage forums that many of us are asking for this function to return to the Nougat ROM (And Lineage ROM of course).
Let's wait and see if a solution is found.
Have a good day.

I totally agree, but I tried anyway and it seems to work.
It proves that there is something in the drivers or kernel to manage this.

OK,
Thank you for your reply. I do not know if this comes from drivers or kernel (not enough computer knowledge to judge).
Hopefully someone finds a solution. I promised to send 30 euros of donation. I would do it when the solution is found.
Have a good day.
