Current 32Gb owners feel free to aviod this topic if you wish, I know you're answer will contain bias
Multitouch issues, GPS issues, random reboots. All making headlines in the tech media. When I see this I have to ask myself do I REALLY want to entrust this company with the higher priced model? I mean it's $40 ok I get it. But when it comes to customer satisfaction and not wanting to get burned you have to draw the line somewhere.
No matter what, you're not going to get burned.
They have a 1 year warranty.
The extra memory, given non expandable storage just makes sense.
If your that concerned about quality control, why buy it in the first place ?
Personally in going for more memory, because I think I may need it.
Also yeah, warranty is included (and you can always flash stock)

Just like The_Zodiac said. If you are that concerned, why buy it? You're not buying a faulty tablet. You're buying a tablet that has a possibility of being faulty. Let's just say that there is something wrong, why wouldn't you just exchange it for a new one?

No, I wouldn't trust this thing if it were given to me for free. Like most of you, I'm on my second one. Some of you are even on your third or fourth one. At that point, why not just return the thing for good or deal with the issues? You shouldn't have to return a tablet this many times in order to get a properly functioning one. This is absolutely unacceptable.
I'm worried about quality control because bad quality control shouldn't exist on such a large scale with these tablets. ASUS has had plenty of time to make a tablet properly. From their own Transformers to their other tablets all the way to the first gen Nexus 7. All of them have problems and it's annoying because you'd think after making so many, you'd figure out how to do it right, or at least bring the problem rate down low enough.
You pretty much of a 75% chance of getting a tablet with some issue that manifests itself only after you really start using the damn thing.
Come on Google, get Samsung on this.
Still on my first 32gb, no problems at all. No multi touch issues, no reboots, no dead pixels. I think one of the big problems is that you only hear the bad stuff, you don't hear from the satisfied customers.

I have faith enough to have ordered the 32GB.
Take that as you will.

This is also something I was thinking.
People are motivated to post about problems, not so much when everything is running smoothly.

This is the problem with these forums.. people come here to complain but don't post when they are satisfied with the product.. as such every little problem is blown out of proportion.. I have this tablet for the past 5 days and yet to face any problems.. All in all highly satisfied with my purchase.. 32 GB is a good option if you keep a lot of media or a heavy gamer.. otherwise 16 gb is good enough ..
First and foremost there is no product released till date that doesn't have some problems... if you are worried about it that you might get a faulty product then you should not buy any electronic item as there is a negligible chance that it may be faulty..
So, if you really want enjoy the nexus experience trust your gut and go ahead.. you will never be able to understand whether you will get a good product or a bad one by asking these questions in a forum

Boo, I'm so sad.
No issues with my 32gb version.

Im loving my 2nd Gen.
I have run it though all of the faults my original nexus 7 had like the flickering screen at low brightness etc etc and its not given me one single problem.
I say if you have a 16GB or God forbid the 8GB 1st gen like I pre ordered GET THE 32! I did and I love it.
Rooted it and put TWRP on it as soon as I got home running the Cyanogen nighties now.
I have no problem here. Work flawlessly. :good:
We have 2 of these 2013 32GB N7s at home.
None of them have shown any of the issues mentioned.
GPS works flawlessly on both of them(use mine daily driving around Houston)
Screen had been impeccable - no light bleed, no dead pixels, no multi-touch issues.
Having been burned before by ASUS on the Prime and disappointed by the Infinity, I bought this with a very critical eye on everything hardware related. That's why I skipped on the first N7. If there was just an iota of something wrong with the unit I have, it would have been returned in a heart beat.
I ended up buying a second one for the rest of the family. This one's mine
Glad to see ASUS finally step up...and hope it lasts longer than a device life-cycle.

Exactly.
I do have the GPS issue and a reboot usually fixes it, at may or may not stop working the rest of the trip.
The touchscreen grounding issues is annoying. If it laying on a table or mounted in my car it touch screen may become unresponsive at times. Picking it up in my hands and it seem to work fine. This issues are annoying, but I'm still keeping my tablet.
Not sure I will be buying Asus products in the future.

Same here. On my first 32GB model that I bought from my local Best Buy 2 days before the "official" release date. No issues whatsoever with mine! I completely agree that happy customers don't get on the Web to praise the tablet for working good, where as unhappy customers do get on the Web to discuss the issues that they're having! Also, I don't know of a single electronic device that doesn't have some issues with some of the products that made their way to the general public's hands! I simply don't think it's possible to have 100% perfect Quality Control for any company...

Isn't it unfortunate how some people just assume that if they're having a problem then everyone MUST be having the same exact problem! Lol
Anyway.
OP, your question should have been - Do you trust this tablet enough to spend ANY money on it. If you don't trust the device then you shouldn't spend a dime on it! As others have already said, if you're willing to spend $230 for the 16GB model, then spending $270 for the 32GB model is a no-brainer on a device that doesn't have removable storage, IF you need the storage. If you're willing to spend $230 for it, then $40 more isn't a problem. Plus you do get a 1 year manufacturer warranty with the device, so that will take care of natural issue if by chance you do have one. If you have the option to buy at a local store, then I think that is your best choice.
What I'm trying to say is this - You SHOULD NOT be contemplating the $40 difference in storage options based on trust. You SHOULD be contemplating making the purchase at all if you're concerned about it.
That said, I have ZERO issues with mine and couldn't be happier! I already have a 10" tablet and a 5.5" phone, but this 7" tablet fits nicely in between and serves it's on purposes for different scenarios. I HIGHLY recommend it!!!!

Exact same thing here (GPS every now and then... been a few days now) and unresponsive multi when ungrounded. But I have to believe Asus/Google will swap it out f they decide it's not a software thing.
If you are somewhere where a swap would e an issue though, I don't know OP. Check it out thoroughly before taking it too far
My first device had uneven gaps on the bezels. My 2nd one has been flawless. I have had no issues at all.
Hello,
i currently had the nexus 5 32gig, before it broke.
I pretty much like everything about this phone
Battery, Camera, Build.
I assume i can get up to 9-10 hours? im mostly on wifi, and if i use my phone its mostly whatsapp or im reading something.
How well has the phone survied drop tests? waist height etc?
the thing with me is i use my phones without a CASE, ill apply a temparted glass OFC.
How well will it perform?
The only thing thats holding me back is that what if i break my display? i will go apply it in a my local market, but im not sure if they would have the parts?
my nexus 5 broke multiple times and now its broken.
i did check one link on ebay.in it should me the cost of 9k for the display.
Thus im hesitating, please advise.

I'm not sure about replacing the screen but, you should be good with tempered glass, since it's made of aluminium unlike honor 8 which is from glass.

If it falls on screen side, it may or may not break. Depends on your luck.
If it falls on the back side, it surely won't break down although it's aluminum back may get dents.
The screen replacement is gonna cost less than 10k.
If you are mostly on WiFi and use single sim, it would easily last you more than a day on moderate usage.

You should be good, just buy a tempered glass and you should be good to go
Yup, a screen protector and a back cover and they should provide enough protection so it would not break so easily. Though bad luck is always possible.

If you are on a budget then the Honor 8 Pro is a excellent alternative to other devices in the same price range.
Good Performance+ good battery life + dual cameras go for this .
In this price range there is a alternative too , oneplus 5->excellent performance+amazing development+decent battery life.
If you are flashoic then go for oneplus 5.
You should buy this gem right away.
My thought is nexus users are quite flashoic , may be he better to go for OP5.

My note 8 brightness always goes to max, even when I turn off adaptive brightness, it turns back on and brightness goes to max.
this is a known issue that samsung is not doing anything about. I wont buy another note......
Try the YAAB app, this seems to actually work, and it shuts off the auto brightness built into the note 8!

I never had that kind of problem and you're actually the first person I've ever seen say anything about the brightness. In any case I'm not buying another Samsung either because I'm tired of the locked down phone B.S. and being told what we can and can't do with our phones and not to mention they made fun of other companies for removing the headphone jack and here they went and apparently removed it on the Note 10 that's coming out next month.. I'm going to find a different phone!!

That's why I bought the phone anyway myself for the stylus and work but at this point I've pretty much had it with Samsung and their locking our phones down.. Frankly I can't understand how they're able to take Android and lock it down like this because it's open source software and locking it down makes it like it's their own software! Lately I don't find myself using the stylus anymore I actually haven't taken it out in about a month now so it's really not important as it uses to be.. I'm actually looking at the pixel and oneplus for now but I haven't settled on anything specific yet.

This is what I'm thinking about going for.. Either one of these two phones in this video. https://youtu.be/SNl8lP3roEo
I would go for the one plus if it worked on Verizon. Also will look at pixel 4 before I buy the note 10, especially if the note 10 is missing an sd card, that would be the end of me using samsung phones. I'll take performance, pen, samsung pay and sd card over root, but if you remove sdcard from note and both have similar cpu, then it's an easier switch.

Bro, they definitely took the headphone jack away from both of the Note 10s!! Not only that but they took the SD card away from the 6.3 Note 10 but they put it in the 6.8 Note 10.. I guess they just lost another customer because I definitely won't be paying them for a dongle to use my expensive headphones!! They're freaking being more and more like Apple I swear!! There's definitely some other phone's out there now that can easily compete with Samsung now! Bye bye Samsung!!

I just realized something after I noticed a 2 1/2 inch section of my screen has burn in already! I had the screen replaced about a year ago because of the burn in issue affecting the colors at the bottom half of the screen.. It seems to me like Samsung's capable of making it so the screens only last a certain amount of time and then they start suffering from the screen burn in problems! I noticed on my mom's phone that I bought her, the screen has not been replaced at all and I looked at it today while fixing something for her and the screen burn in was unbelievable and ALL over the entire screen and I could even see the keyboard when it wasn't even open!! I'm thinking they do this on purpose to make us either upgrade or buy another screen out of warranty! There's absolutely no reason they can't find a way to protect this from happening! I don't even ever have my screens brightness up near or past the halfway point so I think it's ridiculous and purposely done! I can't believe my screen has burn in when I rarely ever keep anything on the screen long enough for that to possibly happen!

Don't want the ROG phone 2 cos it's already old - I feel.
I settled on this but I got negative vibes from 3s users most especially software related like patches and major updates (A10).
With your post, it seems ZTE doesn't care about support.

If it works, it's a decent phone. My phone's flash memory went bad somehow, and after that I got an lg g8 on ebay + a controller, and besides the lower refresh rate it was a better experience overall. And yes, from the experience I had, Nubia sucks for support.

So just an update, I actually got my fixed phone today in the mail, from Nubia. I started the RMA process in November 2019, paid to have it fixed in January, and received it today 4/14/2020. I had no notification that I was getting it in the mail, the last time they responded back to me was late March, saying Ill be notified when it's fixed.
Ironic since I posted this yesterday.
Unfortunate, but In all fairness look what's been going on these past 3 months, the world has been at war with the first pandemic in modern history, things are moving a little slow...
I got my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 on 20th August and less than 2 weeks later the phone is faulty and I have to sent it back. Damn. Sounds like a real hardware problem. Hope the new one is flawless
A mates fold was shipped without download mode - really odd fault
Meh, the fail is strong with Samsung this year.
At least hold off a bit if you want this phone; let others take the ride before you decide.
Latter production runs might also have issues fixed by then.
Issues with the S21U are also cropping up.

I won’t be getting another Fold 3. if the display fails in under 2 weeks there’s a good chance it could happen again.

LMFAO. You act like every phone has this issue. Sounds like you just don't really want it.

That’s a strange thing to say. I did want it as I paid a lot of money for the phone and expect it to last longer than 2 weeks.

I think the probability of getting two Folds in a row with defective screens is very low. You'll be fine.

Maybe not. Samsung's been imploding across the board this year. With their apps and multiple device hardware failures. No joke. Multiple threads on XDA of issues and phone returns.
Just had a Wearables update puke all over me last night. It has defied a solution so far and the Buds+ only work right on phone calls.
Never saw that before.
Samsung's Good Lock app homepage graphics look horrible now too with little critters jumping around.
The Fail is strong with Samsung... now.

If you really want it, then do the warranty exchange and get a new one. No product line is 100% perfect. There will always be defective units. But that doesn't mean every single device will fail within two weeks. That's the most asinine thing I've heard all day.

The best possible failure scenario is that a device does it within its return window.
So the OP was lucky in that respect.
I be pi$$ed too for all that trouble.
Meh... once bitten, twice shy.
If you preordered, Samsung included Care+ for 1 year for free. Not sure if this is offered outside of the US. It's really a great device kind of a game changer for me.

Samsung isn't imploding. Realize that they sell tens of millions of devices and a small minority of people who purchase their products are here complaining about things on XDA. There is no widespread news coverage of Samsung making faulty devices, well, not since the Note 7. Your post is an exaggeration.

What he is trying to say is everyone phone ever released had failures in the 1st few weeks. Its not abnormal and why they have a warranty.

Time will tell
Just order my second new 10+.
I don't share your optimism or wuv of storage deficient devices.
My first 10+ still looks, runs like it's new, fast, stable and fulfilling it's mission with 1tb of storage, soon to be expanded to 1.5tb.
I rejected the Note 20U because of poorer run time, Adroid 10, poorer color rendering and unreasonable price. Not enough bang for the buck.
So imagine what I think about every release from Samsung since then... and I'm not near as kind as you.
2021 is already a dead year for Sammy

That's a good choice... Look for golden reviewer on YouTube and you'll see that this phone while it has Snapdragon 888 performs even worse than 855/865 phones lmao.
It throttles so hard that on games that other phones run at 90fps+ it scores 30 FPS sustained with dips below 10 FPS lmao ( pubg and genshin )
It's a shet performer, buy yourself a better device

There's literally a setting to make it run at max capability. From factory it doesn't run at max. You just flip the setting and it will run at max. They did it to preserve battery. Because realistically only games will utilize the entire power of an 888.
Phone cpus are progressing faster than use case. Oneplus just got in a debacle about this, mainly because they did it without giving you the ability to stop the throttling.
