Overheating issue z5p - Xperia Z5 Premium Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i got my new z5p last week and the device is really amazing sony did a very good job with it everything doing fine except the overheating issue so pls guys if anyone manage to solve this issue pls let me know how did you do it .. Thx

My also started overheating after 7.1.1 update, mainly while watching YT. Have a phone since December 2015.
CPU doesn't go beyond 65
Sent from my E6833 using Tapatalk

Same problem for me overheating during daily use, even with WiFi off and just copy and paste files through file manager it heats up -_- the up part from back -_- any solution?
__________________________
Edit: I found out that part relates to cpu not battery. And it's because of snapdragon 810 which is famous for overheating. I found two ways to cool down but I didn't test them myself, somewhere it was told to use an app named " Trickester MOD Kernel Settings " and set cpu min and max number to better one, but I don't know how to use it!!!!
Another solution is some mods for z5 that are built to make battery life better, I don't know if it's related to my problem (CPU overheating) or not, and if it works on nougat or not but here is the link
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/themes-apps/mod-z5-endurance-tweaks-v1-tweaks-t3321841
I will really appreciate if anyone could help to solve this problem with any mod or kernel or anything ?
I have this problem in MM and nougat 7.1.1 both
-------------------------
edit 2 : i have found that there is a file in system>ets named thermal-engine.conf
some people edited its lines to have cooler device and better battery life , and some people aid that you can delete the whole file , but i dont know if it works for z5p or not ,any suggestion from developers or professionals?
why there is no one to answer here? -_-

Something is definitely stuck and wasting cpu cycles keep them up and running all the time. The easiest thing you can do is "Software repair" when connected to a pc and using sony's software.

What do you mean by sony's software? Pc companion?
Pc companion is not working for me I don't know why? But it says that it can't connect to network! However it's connected, even with vpn!

[Q] My problems with HTC One V

OK, so the following are the problems I have with my One V (PLEASE SOLVE NO. 1, 4, 6 FIRST!):
1. The Stock Messages App.
The stock Messages app on my One V got slower and slower and now it takes about 1 minute to open a conversation. :crying:
Moreover, if I want to send a message to someone, the contact name never appears when I type his/her name in the recipient text box.:crying:
To send a message, I have to open any conversation which I have in my Inbox and then when it opens up, I have to again go to compose message and then everything works fine. What's the problem?
2. Cannot view vCard Files.
When I open a VCF File, it asks for 'Contact under account'. And when I select one, all the contacts automatically get copied to the selected account. I want to view the contacts in my vCard file before copying them. How to do so?
3. It's Super Laggy
Now it's been a month I've use my One V and it has started lagging. Even updated to the latest Firmware update available in India, but nothing helped.:crying:
4. The Stock People App
The People app on my One V has become slow. I don't even have large number of Contacts (about 50)...:crying:
5. Temple Run
Gets stuck when I play Temple Run.:crying:
6. USB Tethering
First of all, when I connect my phone to my PC, the options for selecting Disk Drive, Charge Only, etc. pop up after 1 min. Earlier they appeared immediately.:crying:
Next, USB Tethering doesn't work every time.:crying: When I select USB Tethering and tap Done, the disk drives (HTC STORAGE and Removable Disk as they were named by default) are unmounted, but my PC does not get connected to the internet. After trying a lot of times (by unplugging the phone from the computer) it works once (I mean works after trying for at least 4-5 minutes).:crying: Why does this happen?
omg the list is just too big ;D hehe
did you tried modifications.?

No... I won't root it...
Give the little guy a restart now and then. Also, don't install loads of apps because they will open by themselves and eat memory ram! Install only what you need and delete what it is useless.
Think about it this way: The phone is your home and you are the janitor. You need to clean it up and keep it clean in order to be smooth. Do not put crap inside and leave it there.

I think the software version is the main problem here. 1.xx are damn slow, just as you say (and if I remember correct, there is no 2.xx update at your location ATM but this is not for sure).
If you are on 2.xx then I don't really know, mine works just fine altough it is loaded with contacts/sms/programs really badly . USB tether works fine, SMS is just as HTC dreamed it.
Oh and BTW I haven't ever played temple run, so can't help you about that

1. Sounds like the database might be corrupted. Try rebuilding it by going Settings > Apps > All > Messages > Clear data. None of your messages will be removed.
2. You can't see the contents of the vcard file before importing it. Not without third party apps at least.
3 + 4. Your phone might need a factory reset to be honest
5. Yep. Kill all other applications before starting it. ALL other. You might even need to go into settings > Development > Don't keep activities. The One V is simply not powerful enough to run it comfortably.
6. Can be that the USB cable is not working properly. Sounds like it at least. Otherwise it should work I guess, but anything involving HTC Sync is on a "lucky if it works"-kind of basis. Use wi-fi tethering if you can instead as this doesn't need HTC software to run and is therefore much more likely to work without problems.

U're quite dense. If you look at his signature you'll see that he's running a Custom Rom and the most logical explanation for him specifically stating 1.5Ghz is that he's using an overclocked kernel. You really should read a bit about rooting and go for it. Xda has a brilliant bunch of devs working towards better working ROMs for your device. Its not too difficult.....to root I mean.

Cannot really send video, or that it is faster, I can only say, that it is working fluent, and not really thinking of anything.
Software rev in my phone is 2.08.401.2 (europe of course) but I can assure you, that it lagged in 1. IDontKnowWhich version, at least with me.

The USB Problem is 50% solved!
My 6th problem (USB Tethering) is gone!:victory: Not completely, but now my PC gets connected to the internet every time when I select USB Tethering on my phone.
However, when I connect the phone to my PC and I select 'USB Tethering' on the 'Choose a connection type' window that automatically pops up, the notifications area says USB Tethering but my PC doesn't get connected to the internet. Even the USB Tethering option in Settings->More->Portable hotspot and tethering is not checked.
Then, when I manually check this USB Tethering option in Settings-> ... Portable hotspot and tethering, my PC gets connected to the internet.
Is there a good app that lets me make a shortcut of the 'Portable hotspot and tethering' area on my home screen?

What can I do for HTC to not getting hot?

hi everybody!
I have htc one x when I start to work with it.it's getting to hot, why?
what can I do to not have this problem?
Put it in the freezer
Anyway, is very common for phones to get hot especially quad cores phones. How hot is hot? Does it hurt your palm? Can you provide Fahrenheit figure? If is not exceeding 130 degrees, it should be fine.
It does that because of the processor. Its not strictly quad core though, as my dual core HOX does it too.
Nothing you can really do about it.

tank u guys
but how can i know what is my battery temp or cpu?
and one more things, how can i change show message from sim to phone memory, I mean, the phone just shows messages on phone memory not messages on sim?
1. Just search on google play for a battery temp app
2. Open your sms app and press menu, then go to settings
Go to 'Manage SIM card messages".
There you can probably copy them to your phone's memory

You know, I don't want to copy or delete messages, I mean how can i choice that phone shows sim messages or phone messages like in people (contact) ?
I want when a person who works with my phone cant see my sim messages
I gett the same problem over here
after latest OTA (2.17) phone doesn't get hot at all. played asphalt7 for over an hour and it only got slightly warm on the back, but the screen stayed cold.
I think I got my answer, you have to go to people and at the top of people in right side unmarked sim.
so you don't be able to see contacts and messages on sim
of cours, I'm not sure about that
just try it and tell result

OTA, or "over the air", is a term often use to refer to services that can be accessed on a phone without the need for a USB cable or a local Bluetooth connection. It is often associated with firmware updates and personal information synchronization.
Also known as: "over the air"

not sure what carrier iq is i have disabled as much as i can
gsam says its \system\bin\logd this was the case before downgrading the rom :/ i am unrooted because its a new device and it will void warranty :/
Not all carriers use it but sprint does. And it hogs a lotta battery it spends most of its time collecting information and sending it like the anylitics. Also search on logd. Its also a prety big hogs. Both which reside in the system. I got my version of a write up how to disable it on sprint carriers. http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g4/general/havnt-seen-threads-carrier-iq-started-t3327626
Now some people dont get good bat life. I if im lucky am only getting 2.5. Hoirs of screen on time. Where as other claim 6 or more. I call bull crap.

You probably need to use an older version of Odin.
Try THIS one.
I already tried 3.07v still the same.
Just closing Kies in the normal way isn't usually enough as it still has processes running in the background. You need to use the Windows task manager to stop these processes too (may be up to 4 to stop). Also anti virus and firewall software *can* interfere with Odin....Obviously disconnect the Internet before disabling these....

the tablet can`t install MTP usb device, that is the problem i think, but why i don`t know. . . .
The Tab 3 isn't exactly the newest device, and it relies on a micro USB connector for just about everything. This type of connector is pathetically fragile and (imo) not suitable for regular, long term connection/disconnection. If you browse the forums, you'll find a lot of threads where members are having issues with these connectors. I have owned a number of Samsung devices, all with this connector, and probably 50% of them have had this issue....and that's with me knowing how to minimise stress on the port (part of my job/employment to know).
Getting back to your case.....It (to me) really does sound like a faulty port. You might think 'well how come X works fine if Y doesn't'....
This is entirely possible.
The socket is made up of a number of pins + the earth/ground metal shield surrounding them. Different pins will have different functions. So if the pin(s) that are responsible for data connection/transfer have become worn out/damaged, the result would be that this functionality is lost while everything else is fine.
With regards to a repair, having taken my Tab 3 apart (to replace the screen) and having seen what's inside, I can tell you that it is NOT a part I'd advise you to replace yourself. It is soldered directly to the main board and the connectors are tiny. Your best bet I'm sorry to say, is to take it to a repair centre and pay a professional to do it. I have near on 20 years of hand soldering experience, but this is a job I simply wouldn't touch.
Sorry about the thesaurus but it's best you have all the facts....

[Resolved] Unable to connect OP3 to computer

Hello,
For the past few days, all of a sudden, I am unable to connect my One Plus 3 to any computer. Phone is running OOS 4.0.2, stock recovery, no root.
Tested in two systems running Windows 10, Kubuntu and Windows 7 in which I was able to connect and transfer files to and fro earlier.
The phone is getting charged when connected to computer.
USB debugging is enabled, drivers have been installed and reinstalled. When connected to computer, there is no notification in the notification shade or the status bar that the phone has been connected. so cannot pull down notification shade to change the connection type.
The system also does not recognise the phone and there is no information displayed about phone in the Windows Explorer side menu.
adb devices in normal mode and fastboot devices in bootloader mode do not throw any results at all.
Under Select USB configuration, toggling or cycling through the options (Charging, MTP, PTP etc) has no effect and it stays on Charging all the time.
I have checked with original data cable that came with my phone, with a micro usb cable attached with usb c adapter and also with another original cable borrowed from a colleague.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello,
Thanks for your help.
I took this to the service center, where they diagnosed this as a mother board problem !!! Apparently due to rooting !!!!!!! Which would void the warranty !!!!!!!!!!!!!
After raising a stink, since the device was under warranty they accepted and replaced the mother board without any extra charge.
Funny enough that a representative of Oneplus himself concurred rooting will lead to mother board getting damaged and also about the warranty being voided if software was changed / altered!
anyways, phone is now getting connected . so problem solved.

This is a lie. Rooting can't damage the motherboard since much of your system actually has root capability. It's just that your apps have been denied.
Now, if you used root to overclock the cpu and turn off the hardware thermal throttling then, yes, but that's not from rooting, it's from being stupid.
Oneplus always allows rooting

Everyone PLEASE STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO ENABLE ADB when you have MTP problems. They are not related in any way. You do not need developer options to use MTP. Stay out of menu items you don't understand.
The most likely cause is that your Windows is confused. Plug your phone into a friend's Linux machine to see she the issue is at.

Of Course, I did know about that.
But the "Senior Tech" in the One Plus Experience Store insisted that the website explicitly informs rooting and unlocking bootloader will void warranty. He even went to the extent of opening said page to point out the fact. But the very first line in the web page was that the warranty will NOT be void !!
Next he tried dodging by saying that line was meant for OnePlus One and not for any other phones !!!!!
Only on further escalating the issue to the OnePlus Rep in the store, could I make any head way.
Again, the One Plus employee still toed the same line that the ambiguous lines were meant for the OPO and not for OP3, but he caved in to change the mother board.
All this leaves a bitter taste in the mouth for sure...........

Well, you have to remember that Oneplus is in China, and my guess you aren't nearly anywhere near China. There are idiots everywhere and I would have raised a huge scene. The problem is that you can't just take your business elsewhere, so you have no leverage and it's in their best interest to try and convince you to pay. It has been asked on the forums about rooting the Oneplus 3 and the official word from a Oneplus employee, not some stupid repair tech, was that rooting did not void the warranty, but if you send in a phone that was rooted, they would first determine if you did something to it as root that would screw it up (like disabling throttling) and if your actions as root damages the phone, it would not be covered by the warranty. Rooting doesn't void the warranty if the fault is Oneplus hardware.

Lol yeah dodged that bullet.
Well not only OnePlus, but it's just my opinion, I guess all service centre techs are of a similar mould... Get defensive right from get go, try to blame it on the user and get out of a sticky situation. There might be exceptions but the service centre guys for any electronic purchase i have made invariably have tried to blame me first for any service request !!

Well I'm from India (Bangalore, where we have the "Experience" store)
And of course beyond a limit where they started treating me like an idiot, I did have to behave like a .... Rhymes with "tick" and starts with a "D" to get the attention of someone higher up.
I'm yet to understand why this issue cropped all of a sudden. I did root the phone and install a custom ROM but after nougat went the stock route, which was what I tried explaining initially, that the phone worked normally for a while after installing stock but suddenly got weird, to the tech guys who of course ignored it... The hardware issue came up 'after' a while after installing stock nougat.
Another gem the one plus rep uttered which I had not mentioned earlier:
He acknowledged there is a problem in the motherboard,. Now get this: even though they (OnePlus) had a way of reverting the hardware changes made by using a specific software they were not authorised to give it to level 2 service tech. Hence they decided to change the motherboard !!!!
At this point I was too tired of OP guys' B.S. to even care and went along with it as long as my issue was cleared.

You should report this to Oneplus in China. Likely, the experience store is a contracted 3rd party and oneplus needs to set them straight.
And yes, hardware issues can sometimes take awhile to creep up. This is more common in Chinese parts, but that's how you get stuff cheap!

Hello,
For the past few days, all of a sudden, I am unable to connect my One Plus 3 to any computer.
Thanks.

This is not just a problem for OnePlus 3. It's a general bug for most Windows systems that have been updated. There's a very easy fix for this.
With your phone connected as MTP, navigate to this folder and locate this file
C:\Windows\INF\wpdmtp.inf
Right click on the "wpdmtp.inf" and click install.
Windows will detect your phone...
If I helped you don't forget to say thanks

Two things: read the post quoted by you carefully. No detection at all by PC leave alone as MTP. How do you want him to connect as MTP?
Second, read a couple of posts above. The OP's issue is resolved.
What you are talking about is a different issue.
