My [CDMA]Galaxy Nexus will not connect to 3G netowrk.

I Just took my phone back to stock, locked bootloader state and that still did not work.
No amount off turning data on/off works and neither does switching from CDMA/LTE to CDMA.
Is there a number like *228 that i can call to try reactivating it?
Is there anything I can do short of taking it back?
and my wifes incredible 2 can connect to the 3G.
Have you taken the SIM out and booted the phone up without it and then powered it back down and then put the SIM back and powered it backup to see if that does it?

nope, but i will.
EDIT: Nothing.
powered down, simcard out, power on, powered off, simcard in, powered on.
Simcard out I was actually NOT on any network at 0dbm. Simcard in it says i am on a network, with signal of 120dbm...
booo
I sure hope these **** third party retailers have one still.
It takes a minute to connect sometimes...give it time ..toggle wifi helps.

i have been battling it all day.
Not once has it connected to 3G.
Am I really the only person with this problem?
crap.
You aren't the only one...I had to return mine. I hope they get their head out of their anatomy & fix their radio/signal strength issue. When they get it fixed I will get another one, but I didn't want to risk my return window ending before they get it straight.

tomorrow is my 14th day, it will be returned tomorrow
This just started happening to me on my 20th day of having the phone...after over 2 hours sitting in the Verizon store yesterday they told me that a maintenance release was expected to be pushed out the end of January that "SHOULD" address this exact issue. Other than that they told me I was SOL.
So I am now carrying around a brick that is less than 30 days old. I am starting to wish I didn't trade in the Rezound I was borrowing until the nexus came out.
This happened to me 2 days ago. It is still not fixed.
I can connect to V's 4G, but when I toggle to CDMA, I get gray bars-no data connection.
I don't know if my 3G antennae got fried or what, but is there a way to reset it?
My Galaxy Nexus is rooted/unlocked but no ROMs.
I don't remember messing around with the radio.
I have tried rebooting, wifi-toggle, airplane mode toggle.
I have not tried flashing 4.0.2.
I have not tried removing the SIM card then turning it on.
I have not tried doing a factory reset.
Any suggestions?
I had this exact problem two days ago as well. I went to the Verizon store and the only thing they tried that worked was giving me a new SIM card. Try a new card. Why mine stopped working for 3G data I do not know.

I don't think it'll connect to any network if the sim card is out of the phone, its possible you have a bad sim card.

I do not have anything real helpful, but I can tell you that flashing 4.0.2, doing a factory reset, relocking the phone, or swapping out the SIM card does not help this situation.
Just out of curiosity...What method did you use to unlock your phone? I am just wondering if its a certain method of unlocking that is causing this issue. I am unaware of anyone having this problem that has not unlocked their phone.
I've got a GSM not CDMA version but I got 2 phones from different places. The first lasted 3 days before it stopped connecting to my network. It went back under warranty and was acknowledged there was a problem - awaiting return, it's being repaired now.
My second one had lasted around 3 weeks and is now doing the same thing. I'll be taking this one back as well.
My sim works perfectly fine in all my other phones (HTC's and iPhone's) so that can't be the problem.
First phone was unlocked and custom ROM loaded. Second one is as per factory, hasn't been touched so IMO it can't be related to any "customization".
IMO Samsung/Google should have waited another month and sorted these issues out before releasing the phone. I won't be buying another Samsung phone after this one
It just started happening to me a couple days ago. It was working fine. When I'm on wifi for a extended period and switch to 3G it won't connect. But I can connect to 4G. If I reboot the phone it will connect to 3G.

Now you've got me worried. I am hoping that VZW was going to issue a fix & then I would buy another Gnex. If it is gonna commit suicide 3 weeks later...
connection issues
I have had similar issue.
Powering phone off did not help. For whatever reason, pulling the battery reset my data connection.
Its happened twice as of today.

The same thing is happening to me. If im on wifi for a long time and try to go to 3g, i just get the 3g signal with gray bars and no data connection. The only way i can get it to work is by rebooting my phone. Im running bugless beast, which is a stock rom, but i dont think it has anything to do with it.
this just happened to me today. yesterday 3g was fine now nothing. and with lte constantly dropping this is just a glorified "stupid" phone. i contacted samsung support and they said i need to contact carrier. i reverted to stock and flashed stock recovery and locked phone and still no luck. rebooting and removing sim does nothing. we got screwed with an inferior product
I was experiencing these problems all day yesterday. No 3g, only 4g. Reverted to stock and tried everything listed in this thread with no success of gaining a 3g connection.
However, i looked at my phone this morning and i have 3g connectivity again. I'm going to assume there was some maintenance going on because it hasnt dropped since being awake

Antennas, and Bad Signal Reception

Greetings all DINC2 owners,
If you are having signal/GPS problems....this may be for you.
Recently I bought a brand new Verizon Droid Incredible 2 from a seller on Ebay.
Of course I wanted it Rooted, so I used the Revolutionary method to gain S-Off (Worked Perfectly).
Then I flashed CWM Recovery 5.0.2.0, (Worked Perfectly).
So with all of above done, I downloaded the leaked ICS Rom, and it went in fine.
Here's the problem I hope this post will help some of you with: Crappy CDMA signal strength, and NO GPS locks!
Well, to get straight to the point, With all the flashing, and battery pulling to get the above accomplished- I had somehow managed to get one of the small metal spring contacts in the phone body bent! Snapping the back cover on and off multiple times to get resets, battery pulls, etc., must have resulted in bending one of the contacts over...so, I was not getting a connection to the antenna integrated into the back cover of the phone!!!
OK, for anyone with this model phone, please check your connections between the phone body, and the back cover if you're having signal/GPS reception problems.
My signal bars on CDMA reception went from 1 bar to 3 bars on the cellular radio, and the GPS went from dead to functional with good locks after I found and fixed the bent contact prong in the phone body!
My apologies to the board is this has already been posted, but I was many days frustrated with a new phone that had no GPS, and it is my hope that this will help someone, or many folks with similar phone headaches. Sincerely, -TECHADDICT-5610

Yeah thats the only thing I dislike about the phone. Without the back cover it wont get signal. It uses those small metal things for signal for the radio.
Ahh. The leaked ICS ROM needs the updated radio. I tried to flash the radio but it didn't work for me. The problem is the ROM. Try something else like Aeroevan's CM9.

Loss of GSM after screen replacement

I have searched the forum but I'm not sure how to search this and I haven't found anything. I cracked the screen on my note ii a month or two ago so I ordered a new one from eBay to replace it. The one I ordered said it was compatible with the i317. I switched it out and everything seemed to be fine. The issue I'm having is that ever since then I have has next to no GSM signal.i have pulled the phone apart to check the connections and everything looks fine. I can get LTE without issue, but when I try to make phone calls or send texts, the signal drops drastically and the message or call usually fails. I have flashed multiple roms and even returned to stock but none of that helped. I don't see any issues with the GSM antenna but I'm not sure how to tell. Does anyone have any other ideas I could try?
One thing I noticed that you didn't mention anything about. Changing your modem, or checking your Apn setting...
Those are the two things that could cause those issues!

I tried those initially but after that I used Odin to go back to stock. At this point my phone is completely stock and I am still having the issue.

[Q] intermittent signal

Hello,
I'm new to posting in the forums but I've lurked for a long time. I recently bought a used i317 that I use on Straight Talk. My previous phone was a GS3, love Samsung devices! Anyhow, on to my issue...I shut down my GS3 to put my sim card into the Note 2. Powered on the phone, and changed APN settings. Settings worked, had a good 4g LTE signal. After a bit of playing around with the phone, I discovered that it would drop the signal randomly, no service at all. Then the signal would come back as if nothing happened, or if I put it into airplane mode then turned it off the signal would come back. I never had any such issue with my GS3. So, I rooted using Chainfire's auto-root. Too easy!! Success! Then installed Clockwork recovery Mod, so I could flash a different radio without using Odin. I flashed the 4.1.1 radio and unlocked the phone, then popped in the sim again to see if anything changed. No change, really had no signal at all this time. After that I flashed in the I317UCUCNE5 radio, still the same. no signal. So i was looking around for more tutorials in case I missed something, then found out about the Dalvik cache and cleaned that. I have no intention of flashing to another rom(yet) but cleared it anyway. Is there a certain process to flashing the radio as well? Wiping caches, etc as with roms?
I'm thinking this is a hardware issue, and I've ordered a new sim card port to at least see if this fixes the issue. My sim is recognized but since replacements are cheap I thought I would give it a shot. If that doesn't help perhaps the antenna? I thought I would flash another radio to at least eliminate that aspect, and I believe I did...I'm willing to try anything, I guess my next option would be a motherboard replacement if all else fails. I appreciate any help and insight that is given to me!

Signal drop

Hi all,
A couple of weeks back I had to have my z2 repaired since it suddenly lost service. Since I bought it abroad there's no local official support and I had to trust in unofficial service. They supposedly changed the antenna board or something like that (they were very non-specific on the description of the fix). The phone was working correctly afterwards.
However I started to notice that, when not on wifi, the phone looses signal periodically, not only internet but phone and sms as well.
I'm planning on sending it back for repair though I don't look forward to doing it so. It just occurred to me that maybe they put the replacement part from a different model (mine is xt1710-09) and that my current stock image has problems with this spare part, baseband configuration or something. Is this really possible? I've already wiped completely but it remains the same.
I'm thinking on flashing a different stock version for another model (retail us, or retail br). But don't know if that's a good idea though.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks!
