I believe I accidentally softbricked my Sprint HTC 10. This was my first attempt at rooting a cell phone, therefore my knowledge about the subject is quite limited. I had followed two videos by "ROOTJUNKY" on youtube (How to Unlock the Bootloader on your HTC device like the HTC 10 & How to Root the HTC 10 and Install TWRP Recovery). I successfully completed all steps in unlocking my bootloader, however after I installed TWRP and tried to download/install the suggested supersu.zip. Now my phone is stuck in an unlimited bootloop. The bootloop shows the green HTC logo on a white background and below that a message saying "This build is for developement purposes only Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written Permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action." I can enter HTC Download mode and Bootloader (mode?). While in bootloader I can click recovery Mode and launch TWRP. I do not have a backup/recovery to load. When I connect the phone via USB to my windows computer it does not recognize the device (unless I go into TWRP and mount USB Storage; When I do this the device appears as (G and only contains 3 empty folders labeled .android_secure, Android, and LOST.DIR) When connected the computer as device (G I can go into command prompt and access adb, however it shows the device in RECOVERY and I cannot do anything else. Another weird thing is that when I am in HTC Download Mode it does not show my CID, MID, or Color.

Get the full RUU.exe for your device from HTC's website. Download this to your computer.
From a powered off state, hold VOLUME DOWN while powering on the device to access download mode.
Connect the device to the PC while in this state and run the ROM update from your computer.
This should restore your system.
Remember to use the current and correct versions of TWRP and SuperSU for your device. ROOT JUNKY's videos were from quite a ways back if I recall.
Thanks to all... I have solved the problem...
I ended up flashing the latest version of Venom and somehow it worked  :fingers-crossed:

It worked because the ROM contains a newer version of SuperSU that is compatible with Nougat.
There is a newer one now, but there is no need to flash it. I'm using the version that comes with the ROM as well.
EDIT: I'm not sure what version of TWRP you are using, but you should update that as well to version 3.1.1-0

I have searched for hours and give up finding a workingsolution to the problem.
Long story short - Installed the latest OTA update manually by bypassing signature verfication on a rooted Froyo phone (still not entire sure how I did this, but I'll get back to this later).
The phone currently does boot loops repeatably. I can enter Hboot and menus Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage and SIMlock.
Phone info:
Bravo PVT1 ship s-on
Hboot 0.93.0001
Microp 031d
Touch panel-synt0101

Rooted with unrevoked 3 (I think)...
I installed Andriod SDK and ADT plugin for Eclipse on my WinXP PC.
USB Connectivity
My USB connectivity have three running USB scenarios
1. Then boot looping the HDD Icon show up momentarily but am unable to access it. In control panel the HDD works fine. I assume the SD Card is dismounted.
2. In Hboot mode, only Unrevoked USB drivers would install for then connecting the phone with a USB cable to the computer.
3. In Fastboot mode, only Google USB drivers (from the SDK) worked.
Though, there should be connectivity then applying the "ADB shell" command it detects no device in either boot mode. Either does the RUU Toolkit or Unrevoke 3.21.
Signature verification failed
I have a micro SD adoptor, so I have tried various ROMs and run recovery mode attempting to flash the phone. Depending on which ROMs the signature verifications make different progress (0-20 %).
What is funny, is that what allowed me to install the OTA in the first place was toggle the verification off. But, I have no idea how I did this. I do not have an alternative recovery manager installed. Though, it seems something from deleted from the update due to the install being an OTA. And that there might have been an alternative recovery mode.
I have been unable to "recovery-windows.bat" trick as no USB connectivity!
The latest PB99IMG file is currupt as that would be my last attempt. If anyone have this working please send it my way. Also, I have downloaded a 168 MB version of this file but I do not know what to do with it!?
I hope someone finds this a challenge and can help out! I have almost given up...
Cheers
Do a search on here for how to apply the PB99IMG.
It is quite a common request and there are lots of posts telling you how to do it

Thanks for the heads up. I know this is a quite common post hence my frustration with nothing working.
I emphasized that the PB99IMG from the server is corrupt (10x download attempts) and if anyone could email a functional file?
Email a 168MB file?? Good luck with that one!!
Download this:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N03CIN0U
And then read the Word document I attached to this thread. It explains how to get the PB99IMG file from an RUU:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10509780&postcount=102
The reason you can't 'turn off signature' is because the OTA has flashed the stock recovery back on. Yet another example of why you should NOT FLASH AN OTA ON A ROOTED PHONE!!
It all goes like this - I wanted to root my WPS to solve space problem, although, there was a solution for it without rooting, I figured I will be wanting to use some apps that need root access and some roms sooner or later.
So I did a search and found few ways to root my phone. Being a lazy ass I decided to use "the simple" one click solutions - gingerbreak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765) or Root Unlocker (http://www.unlockroot.com/) This was no success. Gingerbreak kept rooting when I launched the app, but Root Unlocker displayed " FAIL TO GET SHELL ROOT". I figured that problem with Gingerbeak might be that I updated the software to the latest version -
Then I went on and tried another tutorial(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275). Everything was fine till I selected Recovery from bootloader. It got stuck with white HTC logo. Took out the battery tried to use newer version of ClockworkMod Recovery, but still was a no-go. I also can't do a factory restart. I can't do it from bootloader or settings > SD & phone storage > Factory data reset. (But could do it at first. Before trying to root my device I did a factory reset once.)
Is there a way to use another Recovery (not CMR) or force Recovery from fastboot? As I found there are some other people that got stuck with similar problem.
Other problems:
My phone doesn't show up in HTC Sync. Althought, when I tipe adb devices in cmd, it shows up. I did turn my AntiVirus off when I installed HTC Sync, but it still didn't display my phone.
I also found that I can't boot when I connect powered off phone to my pc. I have to take off my batery.
Here are my specs:
Model HTC Wildfire S A510e
It shows Marvel in bootloader.
Phone was S-OFF when I bought it.
Android 2.3.5
HTC Sence 2.1
Software number 2.26.401.3
I bought my phone without a contract from a local internet shop. I am from Baltics.
The phone might be somewhere from Europe.
My bet would be Poland. (guessing that manual language is Polish, but I might be wrong)
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE!
I took the original recovery img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426611 and flashed it. All went well. I did a restart (after doing this I was able to boot power my device while connected to pc) and had another try with CMR recovery, but it didn't work. I also I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406321 recovery img, but it didn't help, I still can't get into.
How to root Wildfire S S-OFF the easy way
First download this
Put it in your memory card
then press and hold voldown+Power
It will load the bootloader follow the instructions on the screen and update accordingly
Then Turn off
Remove that PG76IMG from sdcard
After that download this and put in your memorycard and update same way, it will flash the CMR5.0.2.8 (after flashing dont forget to remove this PG76IMG from sdcard as well).
Now download this put it in your mmc and flash this from recovery.
Done.. U have successfully rooted Ur S-OFF device Now In CWM do factory reset install new custom rom according to the way devs say. I can assure U that this process will even remove Ur white screen
im stuck too on the recovery s-on btw and bootloader unlocked
ME TOO
but i m s-on
Same problem here, unlock by htc-dev worked. Recovery flashed but device stays stuck on the HTC logo. So my daughter's phone is unlocked but that's it.
Thanks, but now I am simply stuck with white htc logo on black background with purple line after entering recovery.
There might be another work around with fastboot, but also have a fastboot remote: not allowed.
Let me know

I dont understand. If ur splash screen changed means u have installed cwm. Just select recovery and install a rom. Like this one
Download the rom. Put in ur sdcard.
remove battery
press vol down+power
press vol down
press power to select recovery
In recovery to move press vol up/down, to select press power
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced>> Wipe Dalvik cache then also wipe battery stats
Go back
Install zip from sdcard
Select the romname.zip put in sdcard
that should be it instructions are also found in that rom. thread so simple!!

Here is a flash file you can try since you are S-Off. It should flash the default splash image, CWM 5.0.2.8, hboot 1.03 and re-calibrate the touch panel.
Hope it works for you.

Problems persist
I have the same problem. My bootloader is unlocked via HTCDEV.com, though with S-ON. In any case...
My WFS is running 2.3.5, it's A510e.
installed recovery image 5.0.2.8 via console (had trouble installing it from the SD card).
each time I attempted to go HBOOT > RECOVERY, my phone would reboot, but would be stuck in black screen with the nav buttons at the bottom lit up (HOME, MENU, BACK, SEARCH).
installed recovery image 6.0.1.0 via SD card, going to HBOOT > RECOVERY will restart the phone, but it freezes on the white screen with the green HTC logo
downgraded to recovery image 6.0.0.3 via console, same problem - frozen on the white screen with the green HTC logo.
at this point, I'm out of ideas, but it seems that recovery image is at fault here?

Nope didn't work. I reflashed each of the boot.img, system.img, and recovery.img, manually though, since the utility didn't work for me. To do this, I booted into HBOOT, then FASTBOOT, and ran commands from my machine "fastboot flash <image type> <image.img>", where <image type> is either boot, recovery, or system, and <image.img> is the corresponding image (boot.img, recovery.img, system.img).
It seems my recovery cannot boot from HBOOT. It simply gets stuck.
With clockwork recovery 5.0.2.6, the phone appears to shut off completely.
With clockwork recovery 5.0.2.8, the phone will shut off except the Android buttons at the bottom are lit up.
I don't know if I can use later CW recovery images, but I tried 6.0.0.3 and I get stuck at the white background with green HTC logo when attempting to go into RECOVERY. Downgraded back to 5.0.2.8.
However, I gave the HTC SuperTool v3 another try, and this time it worked. Previously was giving me errors.
So... to those that are stuck, boot your phone normally. Make sure to go into Settings > Applications > Development and enable USB debugging. Also enable 3rd party installs, just in case.
Then proceed to STEP 3 on this page http://www.htcwildfiresblog.com/2012/03/guide-to-rooting-htc-wildfire-s-235-s.html
For those who want more info, here's another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725398
It appears that the latest Wildfire S has a slightly different firmware, possibly for the video chip, which causes the CWM Recovery not to work. Perhaps there'll be a fix released eventually, but for now you can follow the thread above for some possible workarounds and more info.
Try mg all in one tool. Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697985
It should sort out you guys problems.

It appears that CWM 5.0.2.8 actually works, but it doesn't provide any output to the screen. With ROM Manager, you can automate starting into CWM Recovery and installing a custom ROM, so it doesn't matter if the screen is blank.
Hi!
Have HTC One XL (AU Telstra).
Rooted & Unlocked.
USB is in Debugging / Charge Only.
Recovery has been Clockwork, and now Team-win.
Attempted flash of many ROMs (CM10, Viper, Nocturnal, MeanROM, CleanROM 4.5), and no matter what - the HTC logo appears on boot with a red developers message, and that's it - it just loops forever. So no access to OS anymore. Though Nocturnal managed to display the boot intro, but then freezes indefinitely.
Have also tried RUU stock recovery's, nothing. (Telstra_Stock_1.89.841.9 & Telstra_Stock_1.81.841.8_Final) ...Been at this for weeks.
It's not bricked as I can change Recovery's and access fine with Fastboot, but not ADB, i've tried so many things to get ADB working, so many.
So essentially it's a catch 22... I need ADB to have full potential and use of tools (like your own) SuperOneCLick states Killing ADB Server - Result, *server not responding* Starting ADB Server, then it freezes the toolkit.

Then can boot into TeamWin fine, and mount SD Card (in order to transfer roms as ADB can't push), but then when doing factory resets states SDcard can't be mounted.
This is an $800 phone, brand new, so i'm pretty bummed... I dont care what ROM, nor how, but can anyone advise on how to get past this never ending HTC boot intro that rears it's ugly head after every wipe and flash?

Send it back to HTC. They will replace your motherboard for a "low" price and it will fix the problem. After that, please do not try flashing a new HTX One X ROM again on your HTC One XL.
Have you tried running adb while attempting to use the ruu to bring it back to factory...also what recovery are you using and twerp has a new one

Unlock bootloader, download a custom recovery(TWRP), download a nandroid backup for your device from this thread: COLLECTION of Stock backup's
Boot into custom recovery through fastboot, make a backup of something small like "Boot" so that it creates the backup path for your device. Place the unzipped/unpacked nandroid backup in the backup folder(Last one in tree, i.e inside the serial number folder), restore the nandroid.
Could you tell me which folder exactly it is that I need to place the nandroid backup in ? And where it is located , I cant seem to find it even though I made a backup of boot

It'll be something along: TWRP/BACKUPS/serialnum*/unzipped-nandroid-folder
* serialnum folder will be the one with your serial number for your device. Check on internal storage OR if you selected external SD you should see it already named "TWRP" and the rest of the tree path. Inside the "unzipped folder" which will typically start with a date(if TWRP did it by default) you'll find things like "boot.img" or "boot.emmc.win" and system files etc.
Just make sure you select the correct path where you made the directory when you restore. If you made it on external SD then you have to select it from external SD when you restore.

Thank you so much , my device just booted up :good:
Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone can help me I'm desperate.
I have rooted my HTC One X - and i wanted to install a new ROM. Maybe about a month ago now I got stuck and left it as I had a replacement phone. Now the replacement is messed up and I need this phone back on-line so I'm pleading with someone to help me. On top of that if it wasn't bad enough I lost all my data on pc.
It a nutshell, once I successfully rooted my phone I followed some guidance online and installed clockworkmod recovery v6.0. 4.8. at the time I had then been able to connect my phone to pc and copied over the following zip files:
cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-endeavoru.zip and
gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip.
I followed the instructions and wiped all data factory reset, including the partitions and wiped dalvik cache.
I then installed the ROM zip followed by the gapps zip rebooted the phone and it would not pass the white HTC screen and was perm stuck on this. I have tried everything and I'm pulling my hair out. Read so much day on end and feel like I'm just getting no where. I don't like stating threads as i normally find my answers.
I would really appreciate some support or guidance to fix this issue please.
Please see below the following is showing on my boot-loader screen. The problem I'm having is that I cant access the phone at all and it just wont connect it to the PC to allow me to copy new files over to the storage to then run via recoverymod. How can I do this please. as its just sticks.
Yesterday I read something about boot.img I then downloaded Flash_boot_33.x_0.1 and ran the install-boot windows. This has all run OKAY. After which when I reset the phone it went past the white HTC screen on to the cyanogenmod and I thought sorted, how wrong was I where I now have a blue spinning arrow, and it continues till battery dies.
This is how my boot-loader screen reads:

Please help me if possible I feel I have missed a step and I'm unable to now correct it.
I did also find this http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-x/help/stuck-cyanogenmod-11-bootscreen-t2815076 thread, but this needs access to the phone storage which I don't have as unable to connect to PC.
Thanks and very much appreciated.

Are you flash Philz 5.15.9 there 100% the mount sd card work tested more then 100 times. Exactly Philz 5.15.9. To flash recovery you need only fastboot
So what your saying is that I can download this flash Philz 5.15.9 and then run it via my pc through fastboot. This should then boot my phone properly.
I cant find flash Philz 5.15.9 download any links.
Thanks
Correction - found the link -
http://d-h.st/users/philz_touch/?fld_id=16046#files
Right so I have downloaded Philz 5.15.9 and I have run the exe on pc. Nothing has happened, how do I copy to sd storage or copy anything to the sd card. I am unable to get past boot screen when i turn phone on.
Yes finally sorted if anyone is interested to how, its seems like I had the wrong boot img. So from my original download folder I used fastboot to run just the boot.img and its working now, i used the below instructions step by step and used my boot img.
Result.
