Currently looking for a secondary phone in the 200-400€ range. One app that is very important to me but which is rather picky about the devices it runs on is the advanced video recording app "Filmic Pro". Can anyone with the Z Play check in the PlayStore if this app shows up as installable or if only "Filmic Plus" (the 'little' brother, blue icon) shows up when you search for "Filmic Pro"?
Thanks!

Also, i have installed the Flimic Evaluator app to check the supported features.
It consists of 3 tabs - 1)FPRO VS FPPLUS tab Which displays all features in both the app.
[See Image attached]
2) Flimic Plus tab which displays features of Fimic Plus app that are supported in the device.
3)FlimicPro which displays Flimic Pro app features supported in this device.
And Happily, all features of the Filmic Plus app is supported in the device.
Except the two in front camera i.e, A.E Retie Sampling and Image stabilization.(But these two are available for the Rear Camera)
But in the Filmic Pro Tab it shows that Device isn't compatible.
Now you can decide if you want this phone.
Cheers!!

The general consensus for this phone seems to be that it sports top-of-the-range photographic hardware but is sadly let down by poor software support and Sony's aggressive noise-reduction algorithms. As this is a software issue, it may be possible that enhanced image quality could be obtained using third party apps. So far I have noticed some differences between apps and thought we could maintain a list of some of the best here:
- Camera FV-5 Supports 23MP but seems a little unstable on the Z5C with FC issues on some camera features
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro&hl=en_GB
- A Better Camera: 23MP support plus "DRO - Dynamic Range optimization"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.almalence.opencam
- HTC Camera: 23 MP support
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/htc-co...-camera-new-8-10-748210-android-apk-download/
- ICS+ 1.7: full resolution supported
https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&s...Ts4WT4m0RHMx-2a1Q&sig2=A-U3oWedOs0SxvoUmzIwHg
- Cyanogenmod camera: Third party supporting full resolution on Z5 Compact. Slightly buggy on our phones but shows that it can be done! *edit - not working on MM
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/cyanog...a-2-0-005-04864afef4-00-android-apk-download/
- Camera Super Pixel: Takes burst photos can combines them into higher than native resolutions composites. On the Z5C camera it can achieve 32MP rear camera and 20 MP front camera!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...9mp-camera-t3322562/post65509846#post65509846
Please post any apps you find with enhanced functionality over Xperia stock
Here is my test of the Super Pixel Camera - definite improvement over stock front camera, although still getting thrashed by Sony post-edits:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByO19bEKY9TKZ2tWSTY1SzV3M1k
(5MP Stock Xxperia camera on the right, 20MP Super Pixel Camera on the left)
Sorry about the horrible "selphy" photo but the difference was most noticeable on the rear camera!
looks good, but i cant install the app from the market.

The apk is attached in the Op of that thread.
BTW this app makes way better photos. But really only flattens the image, doesn't really get higher detail. I'll take it over my textured and fuzzy stock camera though!
Hi, I'm one of the developers of the app. New version is compatible with Sony Xperia Z5:
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anforapps.camerasuperpixel
Thanks for all the feedback!
What's new:
0.9.2
Fixed autofocus issue (better focused rear camera pics)
Compatible with OnePlus 2
Compatible with Sony Xperia Z5

Hi, thanks for testing. Not sure why it is not available on your devices, maybe some problem on Google Play.
I have attached is a screenshot of the Sony devices supported on my Google Play Developer Console, maybe some model is missing...

Balls, cheers for the heads up - I'll change the OP
I'm currently playing with open camera with API 2.0. So far it works but i haven't really compared to stock yet. I have noticed the camera button, the first press for focus causes a never ending focus loop... But tapping the screen works fine.
I had used "A Better Camera" with my previous phone for a while. It can perform "Dynamic Range Optimization" automatically after each photo is taken. The night mode is pretty good as well.
Ofcourse the issue is that Sony has not provided a FULL camera2 api implementation so you are limited. I sometimes still use ABC, when I'm taking a still, however it is quite slow compared to the native app with just starting and taking photos.
I use Cameringo+. I guess it was the best I've used with Z1 Compact and it kinda stayed with me. Truth is that the Z5 Compact camera is much much better. So I don't think I need live filters anymore.

Nope. That has to have a support from the ROM itself and stock Android doesn't support it yet in mm

It's my understanding that for a phone to be VR compatible it must have a compass or magnetometer and the G4 has neither.

Hello!
I use my phone as a dash cam.
Works pretty good, but all dash cam apps I tried are using the "normal" camera and not the wide angle cam.
But the wide angle cam would be perfect.
How can I switch between the two cameras or does anyone know a dash cam app which uses the wide angle?
Rgds, Martin
EDIT:
***************************************************************************************************
Solution found, it should also work with
V20, G5
Install DailyRoads Voyager Pro from PlayStore
After install go to authors homepage
On the right hand side, download APK "Pro version with wide-angle" and install it as update over the Version from PlayStore.
It works for me on the LG G6 (H870)
EDIT2:
I am not the author of this app and I am not related to the author!
I don't think the wide angle is exposed in the camera 2 API. It's unlikely that you will find a third party app that will ever support it.

Good question, looking for the same!

Does this need a sim card or internet to work? Curious because I want to run my old g4 with this but obviously its not connected to a mobile network.

You can run this app without any internet/network connections.
There is the possibility to upload videos, but no need.
I have blocked all network connections to this app via firewall.

Works pretty good. The dash cam app starts as soon as bluetooth is connected to car radio.
So you don't have to think about starting that app.
Playing music over bluetooth and using navigation app at the same time works without problems.

On LG-Developers website, there are libraries to use the second back-camera.
I'm using them in my app, they all work.
Is there an app that films 4:3 in full Resolution with the wide angle camera?
anyone facing issue with picture-in-picture not working on Note 10+ (international variant).. for me Google Maps PIP not working. I checked all the required settings and they are all in place, but still no luck..
any help is appreciated..
I have Samsung unlocked 10+ (snapdragon) but I'm unfamiliar with this picture in picture mode. I'll check it out if you provide a little more detail. When you say international do you mean Exynos variant?
Assuming under settings / special access / pip maps are allowed; then in maps set a route, click start and click home button. That creates pip of your route
Just tested on my Ozzie Note 10+, exynos, and works fine...
Google maps in a little window over home screen with voice directions and visible prompts...
Knew it was available but wasn't sure how to get it to work, thanks...
That function works fine on my Samsung unlocked snap dragon 10+. Tested with Google maps, Samsung video player and you tube vanced.

Thanks for the reply. I checked my settings and PIP is allowed in apps like Google Maps, Youtube etc.. but still it is not working. I am using Gesture navigation instead of button navigation. On my Maps app, I set a route and Clicked on Start and then i navigate to home screen but it doesn't show PIP mode.
By the way , previously I was using S10+ and it was working absolutely fine but with my recently purchased Note10+ it does not work.

Perfect! Thanks man. I tried. Installing perfect and updates the current camera to this version. But it force closes. Not working. To bad ...
It is easy to restore though. Going to settings application management and going to system apps and finding camera app and just uninstall the update. It goes back to previous version and everething is great again.
To bad it is not working. Maybe needs some library extra or maybe it is not working because the difference in camera setup (gimbal is on ultra wide on x70 pro plus etc) ... It's ok. Maybe someone expert can make an APK mix and we can have the extras like the video bokeh in ours x70 pro plus.
Thanks again!

Guys, I was previously using X60 pro plus China ROM. Recently Switched to X80 pro global ROM, and noticed that the camera app is totally different. However X80 pro misses all of these. Totally disappointed. Any suggestions on how to get those features on the X80 pro model please..
