LG G6 - DashCam App which uses the wide angle cam *found* !

Hello!
I use my phone as a dash cam.
Works pretty good, but all dash cam apps I tried are using the "normal" camera and not the wide angle cam.
But the wide angle cam would be perfect.
How can I switch between the two cameras or does anyone know a dash cam app which uses the wide angle?

Solution found, it should also work with
V20, G5
Install DailyRoads Voyager Pro from PlayStore
After install go to authors homepage
On the right hand side, download APK "Pro version with wide-angle" and install it as update over the Version from PlayStore.
It works for me on the LG G6 (H870)

I don't think the wide angle is exposed in the camera 2 API. It's unlikely that you will find a third party app that will ever support it.

Whatsapp uses both lenses, so why dashcam app couldn't do iit ?

Good question, looking for the same!

I have asked the developer of the dashcam app I am using.
If I get feedback I will let you know.

Interesting, I just installed WhatsApp to check this out. Where do you switch it to wide angle?

by pressing the camera symbol in the right hand corner (as soon as you have activated the camera in WhatsApp)
It switches the camera, "back wide / back normal / front "

Does this need a sim card or internet to work? Curious because I want to run my old g4 with this but obviously its not connected to a mobile network.

You can run this app without any internet/network connections.
There is the possibility to upload videos, but no need.
I have blocked all network connections to this app via firewall.

For those coming from Google: Autoguard is another app that uses the wide-angle camera by default.

Useful thread, never thought about using mobile as dash cam.

Works pretty good. The dash cam app starts as soon as bluetooth is connected to car radio.
So you don't have to think about starting that app.
Playing music over bluetooth and using navigation app at the same time works without problems.

On LG-Developers website, there are libraries to use the second back-camera.
I'm using them in my app, they all work.

Is there an app that films 4:3 in full Resolution with the wide angle camera?

Youtube Premium PiP not working

Hi guys,
it's been 2 weeks i bought the phone, i'm on latest global stable (miui 9) and since the begining th PiP mode of Youtube Premium is not working.
The background playback is working but no Pip. I've also tried installing Vanced YT app and no PiP too.
The Pip is working well with Maps or Twitch.
Am i the only one with this bug ?
Did someone knows how to fix this ?

Exactly the same here

It is unfortunately a problem with MIUI. PIP does work, but on certain combinations, like if you're watching youtube and you go to setting from status bar. it may work then.

Slight Problem
The PiP does not work when you directly go to home from youtube. It works when you open any app form the status bar

ok so it works with the weather notification from Google Assistant, it opens google assistant and trigger youtube pip but it does not work with settings..
It's a workaround i can live with but i does not always have a notification to click on ^^

for Xiaomi devices there is only audio no video in PiP
but no issue with OnePlus. According o my views

As i said, the weather motification from google assitant is working for me. Some people are reporting "better pip" in the new update maybe some progress to hop with youtube

Sorry to ask this big noob question, but in my old phone I never used Google assistant, so I have no clube how to acess weather notification while using YouTube. Can you give a tip?
Edit: know what you are talking about.. Im trying now tô activate my weather notification, but with no luck só far :[

Yes me too don't know how to enable the Google weather notification. If I do nothing happens because where I live in Thailand it's the same weather every day for the last 159 years

Since i installed 9.6.3 update and the latest youtube vanced , everything is working now. Very pleased.

Its only working on miui when lunch clock from status bar.. This is know compatability issue with mini

goto uptoDown.com and download/install OGYoutube
and it works just fine!

Disable the fullscreen gestures and it will work. It doesn't work for me either with fullscreen gestures, but it does with the normal functional bar

Goto settings>>additional settings>>privacy>>picture in picture then turn on for youtube .
It works fine
Or just type picture in search bar settings menu

Picture in Picture Not Working

Hey at all!
I just received my new mi 9 se. Nothing flashed yet.
I just don't get picture in picture working which I am using a lot on other phone like my pixel. This is my first miui phone or xiaomi, so maybe I am missing something.
I tested YouTube and chrome app so far.
- pip is enabled in miui settings for all the apps
- tried turning off full screen mode
- full screen gestures are turned off
Google can't give me any more clues.
Is pip working for you on standard mi 9 se?
Any proposal for me?

I got it to work with chrome ... Only works when picture is in full screen... Netflix also works, still no YouTube

PiP of YouTube only works for YouTube Premium users, you can use YouTube Vanced instead, works like a charm there.

Great news. ACR which is not working with my S8 since android 9, now working well with my note 10+.

Mine has a built in recorder shouldn't all of them have it?!

Due privacy laws a lot of countries have it removed .

Can anyone confirm this as working in the UK models? Mine is the BTU Samsung Store version and it doesn't seem to work with ACR v32.7

Download acr "unchanied" app from sites like uptodown .. working on my note 10 plus.. even stores call logs.. but sound is lower due to limitations of android 9... records good if in silent places

Well... this ACR is not working like it did on Oreo but it's better than nothing.

It is per country.
You can enable it with root and editing an xml file.

Can anyone with working ACR please post their settings.

I am using Total Recall, works ok sound on other side is a little lower but that seems to be standard unless you use root recording. Good luck.

Incoming audio is a bit low.

I use truecaller application. it has an auto recording function plus it can 90% detect unknown numbers

I increase audio gain to max level.
Incoming voice will be low in loud place

Don't think it is possible with android 9 limitation. Unless your device comes with unlocked call recorder feature.

Don't work on my Snapdragon

I tried it on my S20 FE and the app crashes on startup. Is there any chance that someone on XDA mods the app for other devices like S20 FE / S21 FE ?

Someone should go through the files and see if there's a support list identifying CSC codes, model #s, etc. I'd hope to be able to modify this.

did you try on OpenCamera app? there are option to enable saving to RAW images

I actually installed NiceLock for Samsung to enable camera assistant app but trust me there's nothing to gain from it. Shutter lag is still there.

How did you manage that? My NiceLock doesn't have Camera Assistant.

I was wrong, I used FineLock instead and I remember that I also installed camera assistant and it worked. Now it doesn't work anymore and it won't start but I think it's because I have downgraded to OneUi4. On OneUi 5.1 I think it worked.

Nah, it doesn't work on OneUI 5.1 snapdragon. I tried multiple times haha

Try Photon camera. not the one on the Play store but from Telegram . Official chanel is where the updated versions are posted. it stacks frames like Gcam ( up to 50) and has auto/Manual controle + raw output.
