The official brand QI charger comes in 2 varieties:
- Samsung Fast Charge Qi Wireless Charging Pad
http://ca.shopandroid.com/samsung-f...arger-included-black-sapphire/5A233A22384.htm
- Samsung Mini Wireless Charger
http://ca.shopandroid.com/samsung-mini-wireless-charger/5A233A24013.htm
Is it necessary to use/need the 2A charger? I read somewhere that there is a possibility of damaging the Wireless Base if you do not use the 2A charger.
Is using your USB port on your PC not recommended, other than for the fact it's only .5A and will need all night to charge?
Any user verified info on this will help me in making a decision regarding a purchase.

I only have experience with an Anker Qi charger which I bought a few years ago for a nexus 5.. If it doesn't get fed 2A, then it just sits there and no charging occurs, no LEDs light. Nothing. I'm guessing the Samsung would be equipped to ignore a power source that can't produce enough current without causing damage to the charger.
2A is necessary because the wireless charging process is lossy. I think my Anker states on the back that it outputs 1A, so that's a 50% loss. The Samsung is probably better than that, but will not be 100%. You'll never get a charging rate that's equal to directly plugging the phone into the supply. So even if a wireless charger existed that could work with a 1A capable power supply, it would be a bit pointless because the charging rate would be sloooow. These active phones have huge batteries, so it would be even less desirable.
Hope that's useful despite my lack of experience with the official wireless chargers.

Itian make some great, cheap fast wireless chargers that will utilise the 9V output of your official samsung charger. It isn't quite as fast as plugging in to the fast charger, but it is damn close and confirms 'fast charging wirelessly' when you pop it on there.

Fascinate wall charger WILL charge the GT 10.1

Interesting to me, though maybe already known:
I could not find my GT10.1 wall charger the other day, so on a whim I tried my Fascinate's wall charger (with GT 10.1 cable). This wall charger seemed to charge the GT 10.1 with no issue.

$0.43 + $3.48 shipping on Amazon - pretty cheap way to get a back-up to stick in my backpack.

As should any USB type charger. My iPhone charger and my Jawbone Icon headset charger worked as well but takes longer to charge due to the lower current rating.
Agree with MisterEdF.
I have the same plug with my Nexus S and my Epic. Both WILL charge but it's slow as hell and there's definitely the Red X letting me know that it's not the 5v2a charger the tab would like to see. Can't see why the Fascinate charger would be any different...
I believe that is a .5a charger and our tabs come with a 2a. The most it really can do is slow the battery drain. It'll take at least 4x the amount of time to charge.

I dunno. Over a ~couple hour period the battery went from 24% to ~50%. Not as fast as the stock charger, but certainly not zero.

It will slow the drain if you are using it but if you simply want to charge it over night it should be fine in a pinch.

And so will the B&N Nook Color charger. Essentially, any one will work but the standard, lower capacity ones might take forever to charge. The Nook Color charger provides ~1.9A @ 5 Vdc in place of the more standard sub-1 Amp chargers.

DEVICE SUMMARY
Made by Vinsic
2.4A USB Charger, built with two specialized ports to charge your devices simultaneously at full speed.
12W, compatible for Smartphones, Cell phones, MP3/MP4Players, Game Devices, GPS Devices, ereaders, and other digital devices.
High quality, safety, built-in circuitry protects your device from over-charging.
Highly durable ABS plastics, relatively good charging performance, whilst reducing heat generation.
Compact size and lightweight, design for using on the go and in home.
IMPRESSIONS
This charger blew the socks off my OEM charger. I got it when I had my HTC One M7 and the charger that came with that phone did an okay job - but it was more like a trickle charge. When using this charger, I was able to get a full charge from an almost drained battery in about 2 hours. And it was roughly the same time to charge both my wife's Samsung S4 and my M7 at the same time. :highfive:
This charger is great. It has two ports and it is has good build quality. I have been using it now for a few months and it is still going strong and charges my Nexus 6 great when I don't want to use the insanely fast turbo charger.
Not quite sure what the "Smart" port is for - the box did not come with a description on that.
RECOMMENDED
I would recommend anyone in search of a USB wall charger to purchase this product. I have used OEM chargers, and cheap replacement ones, and this one beats all the ones I've owned, hands down.
Will this work with a Kindle?
"Smart" USB chargers include solid state logic with serial communications chips. When you plug in a device that wants higher current, it sends a query to the power supply saying something to the effect of "I want 2 amps. Is that OK?" If the power supply is a dump USB port, it doesn't answer at all, so the device either doesn't work, or only draws the default 500 mA (and charges much more slowly.)

[Review]CHOETECH QI Inductive Wireless Charging Pad T511 *New Version*

Hello,
I got a great discount from <MODERATOR EDITED - SPAM LINK REMOVED> on a QI Inductive Wireless Charging Pad for an honest and unbiased review.
I had to pay a few Euro though but that was ok for me since I didn´t ever used the wireless charging functionality of my Nexus 5 (2013) and Nexus 7 (2013) before and wanted to see the difference
<MODERATOR EDITED - SPAM LINK REMOVED>
The build quality is nice, I didn´t see any sharp edges. The text markings are easy to read too. The surface has a nice soft touch feel.
This charger can deliver a max. power output of 7.5W and requires a max. input power of 10W ( 5V @ 2A max. USB charger ).
There is no USB charger included but that should not be a problem for most guys here

Tests:
I used the App Ampere for the tests in order to have a good guess, if the charger can deliver some serious current output.
The best readout I could get was about 690mA which is lower than the 900mA up to 1A current you might get from a regular USB charger when using a cable.
I also checked the efficiency of the QI Inductive Wireless Charging Pad itself by hooking it up to my DIY Power Supply. The current drawn by this charger was about 1,1A while delivering the 690mA to the phone.
If there is no phone attached, I could read out a pulsating current with a max. amplitude of about 100mA. This charger will use nearly no power at all if it doesn´t load a phone.
Well, the phone is charged at a lower current because the inductive charging is not as efficient but the difference is still tolerable.
You can use such a pad on your night stand to charge the phone during the night, without having to fiddle around with any cables
I´m happy with this Charging Pad though and I hope that this one will last for a while.
Did you make similar experiences too ?

Compared to other charger i have reviewed in the past, this is interesting since it comes with 5V/1A USB ports too, useful to slow charge some devices.
The build quality is OK, nothing to complain about, there are no matte surfaces luckily and the plastic feels solid with no imperfections. Also, it is pretty compact and reasonably lightweight.
Unfortunately the amount of accessories included is quite limited, just a small manual and the Power Cord (EU in my case). I always prefer to see at least one USB cable included in any charger.
Talking about the power output instead, all tests have been made using my semi-professional USB Load + Tester.
Starting with the Quick Charge 3.0 port, this is working almost fine, and i say almost because it doesn't seem to reach 12V for some reason. At 5V though there are no issues in reaching 3A as rated.
The 5V/2.4A USB output is good enough, the voltage drops slightly at maximum rated load (4.91v) but perfectly acceptable. Increasing the load up to 3A (over the rated specs) causes the voltage to drop a lot, unusable for charging, but it doesn't trip the protection. Over 3A, it trips.
Finally the 5V/1A USB outputs. Both ports provide excellent voltage at 1A as rated, and you can squeeze up to 1.2A before tripping the protection.
Just to complete the review, here are the UGREEN 180 degrees Type-C Cables with 56k resistor. Do they work as well as the charger? The answer is, sort of.
Quality-wise they are decent, with nice colors and a semi-rubberized cable, but they tend to scratch a bit easily based on my usage (just like all rubberized surfaces). The rotated Type-C Plug is really useful though, all cables should be available in this format IMHO.
There is a 0.11A of loss compared to the direct connection, that is still OK for charging, but it won't handle 3A properly unless the charger pumps the voltage up over 5V, something that this UGREEN model doesn't so i recommend you to use those cables with another charger for 3A charging. BTW, UGREEN declares 22AWG for the power wires for those interested.
In conclusion, this charger is an interesting one with a decent power output and excellent build quality.

wirless charger

Any good wireless chargers for the v40, any that charge faster then the others? Share the link of the ones you have bought and recommend.
I use a Samsung wireless fast charger and it's perfromed great, even with a small metal plate in my case for my magnetic mount. (Had to place the disc in the lower 1/3 of the phone but charging is fine, fast, doesn't heat up and the base locks into my car mount perfectly.)

Integrated cooling fan is absolutely necessary for sustained fast wireless charging. I have both of these and recommend the stand because you don't have to futz with proper placement.

Samsung fast wireless chargers will not fast charge qi epp standards compliant fast wireless charging devices. They only fast charge Samsung devices, everything else defaults to qi bpp at 5W.
I have ordered the Nillkin PowerFlash 15w qi charger.

Will let you guys know more when it arrives!
Does the V40 indicate on the lock screen in you're fast charging at 10W or regular charging at 5W? I'm not sure if my charger or cabling isn't working, or if it just doesn't display regular or fast charging speeds for wireless charging like it does for wired.

just got my Nillkin LED Wireless Charger and i can confirm it charges using fast charging
Seneo 2 Pack Wireless Charger Stand, 15W USB-C Wireless Charger from Amazon UK working with my V40, don't forget you must have it plugged in to a quick charge 3 charger to make it work rapidly. PS it's only been 2 days since I got them, but, so far so good.
