Whole device hanging when keyboard is opened in certain apps

Seeing this problem with GTasks and SNESDroid. Hoping someone can shed some light on this. It seems like if I open the physical keyboard while either of these apps are loading a new activity,
One of two things happen:
1. The whole device straight up hangs. I still get tactile feedback and the keyboard light responds, but the display is hung and the only way to get the device back into a usable state is to hold power until the device resets. logcat doesn't show any kind of trouble until I try to leave the activity that hung the phone. Then I get this:

"Copying to DropBox"... there's a debug parachute in this ROM that's sending cores to hell-knows-where. That concerns me greatly.
Anyone that knows more about Android internals want to chime in? Why is this hang happening? Anyone recognize this parachute? Is this CIQ or something Samsung baked up? Any realistic chance of a fix?
-E- This is on UCLG9 with Nardoholio's keyboard fix. I wonder if maybe the fix causes other problems... but that doesn't explain this suspicious parachute.

I was able to reproduce #2 in UCLH2 without mods, but #1 now behaves differently, and doesn't result in a hang. The new behavior suggests a bug in GTasks was aggravating a problem in the ROM that's since been fixed. I'm basing this guess on two lines that jumped out at me in logcat:

At which point it launches into the big debugspam.
My theory: The SNESDroid NDK code segfaults, due to a legitimate bug in the app itself. The parachute that launches is something added to testing builds by Samsung, which is supposed to catch as much useful debugging info as possible and haul it off to some developer's DropBox account. Because the SNESDroid crash happens in NDK code, the segfault is broadcasted at the hardware level, triggering the aforementioned parachute, which was never made to handle an app crash, and causes some weirdness at the system level as a result.
So tl;dr it's just buggy apps. UCLG9 has its own bug that's triggered by one of them but that bug has been fixed in UCLH2. I'm going to apply the keyboard backlight fix and try again just to be sure. Installed root and keyboard fix, behavior has not changed.

When the keyboard is pulled out, the system tries to force the orientation to landscape. Some apps, like Netflix don't let this happen. Some don't mind, and others crash. It's not a fault of Samsung if that's what's causing this.

Apps crashing is one thing. If an app bug takes down the entire OS, I'll rightly blame Samsung.
I'm getting another whole-phone hang, again related to SNESDroid. I'm trying to find a way to reliably reproduce it, then I'll post the logcat from that, or at least, what I can pull before the device goes completely AWOL.

I have had it happening to me all the time before - usually crashes whenever I start up some demanding apps (I sent thegreatergood the entire logcat - it jumped at me as some type of kernel package errors, not thegreatergood's fault, it even occurs with stock kernel (LiteROM without LiteKernel) and the stock ICS) - it is certainly the stranger bugs I have seen. It starts mainly with the missing kernel package (halfway between kernel and the entire Android VM). I tried thegreatergood's newer Rev. 2 LiteKernel, the chance of it occurring is/was greatly reduced.

Yup, I agree. Looks like a few invalid service tags being applied forcibly here, immediately after the library (I think video driver hook). I know it can occur with any apps, though.

The kernel is still running though -- logcat is still responding (though not logging much) and I can open a shell. It's like the whole runtime dies and doesn't come back.

Hmm. It's like a can of worms. You're correct about kernel, though - as I see that the kernel is still commenting after everything crashes and burns.
EDIT: Did you try force restart the runtime? Getting curiouser and curiouser.

[Q][CM11][FXP33x] Launcher failure even after wiping process

Hail, XDAers!
It's a simple to explain issue: I had my C1904 (sometimes it says C1905, I don't know what's the difference, at all) running CM11 by flashing PecanCM's FXP329 or 330 -- I can't remember exactly. There were, of course, some bug's as it's very typical of beta releases and, aside of it, it's a very good job from Free Xperia Team.
Well, it ran near flawlessly (no serious bugs, reliable for daily use) for one and a half week. Then, last thursday, it went unusable: Google Now Launcher started to crash, crash and crash, then crashing one more time until it... wait, it won't stop crashing. It went crashing/restarting the launcher in a frenetic way.
My first obvious reaction was restarting the device. To be honest, I tried it for at least five times. Everytime, it worked well for the first ten~fifteen minutes, then entering the launcher crash loop again.
Next, I've tried out some other launcher apps (notably ADW and Apex). Nothing changed.
This time, I tried flashing FXP332 (it was, for me, a good time to upgrade, since my CM11 was some versions old -- perhaps FXP329 or 330, aforementioned) without wiping anything. Just upgrading and hoping it to fix possibly damaged system files. Anyway, it failed, too.
As a last resort, I've made a complete wipe (cleaned every partition but internal storage and SD, of course) and reflashed a brand new FXP332. However, the system were quite unstable and contacts importing process failed several times until bam: the launcher crashed, and crashed, and crashed, and crash... and cras... and cr... *device freezes*. I had to remove the battery and turn it on again, like I did the several other times, but, this time I started it to restore stock 4.3 C1905 ROM.
It's rooted, it's working, but I must confess: I miss some CM11 built-in flexibilities and it's clean default interface.
BTW, I had cat'ed down logcat output (full version attached to this post), although it won't says anything much different from the following excerpt in it's entire extension:

Have you tried using trebucket launcher? It is better in my opinion.

Well, I tried. In reality, it was my first launcher. However it bugged with one Google widget, and refused to work. So I started using Google Now, which worked flawlessly 'till one week later. In my latter attemps, it was just impossible to use Trebuchet, as it were already messed up.

i have a problem with Trusted Face Lock
every time i open it it just Pop up a new window and then it closes
no force close no anything ..
try it a clean flash and flashed "tk_gapps"
also i have flashed the file in this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/gapps-smart-unlock-android-5-0-t2962765 and no luck .. still the same problem ..
So i have took a log cat for the problem.. i need a dev too look at it

i cant see an error with ur logcat.. u may try this GApps .https://github.com/cgapps/vendor_google/tree/builds/arm im also using that GApss and all working fine

When I try to open the display settings in the settings app it closes "unfortunately".

You didn't have the device name, you didn't list what you changed from the default install, and you didn't specify if you performed a clean flash. These are the basics that should be included in any report. Saying 'it doesn't work' doesn't do any good.
And then there is this thing called a logcat. Logs are required for bug reports....

I don't see the crash in that logcat. You are supposed to run logcat while you reproduce the issue. Capture the actual error.

You say you clean flashed but I don't see a data wipe or system wipe?

I wiped before installing this ROM.
Also, I wiped the dalvik and cache when I came across this problem. It didn't solve this.
And after that I spent few hours searching about this problem.
But when I could not find any solution , I posted here.
After all this , I installed catlog and reproduced the problem while recording the logcat in it, which has been posted in Original post.
Now tell me should there be anything about data wipe ?

I ask because you specifically mention dalvik and cache (newsflash: they don't do anything).
Wiping dalvik and cache does not constitute a clean flash. When performing a clean flash, data must be wiped. It's like one of the first noob lessons one should take the time to learn.

API_UNAVAILABLE sounds like I missed something to install? I'm using Open GApps Mini. Android auto menu item is also missing in settings - google - services menu.
Same setup on other devices for example HTC M8s works without problem.
Anyone seen this issue before and may help?

Got it somehow working for now. I was in settings - google - show debug items (in top menu) - google play services modules (at the bottom) - car / car_setup. There I did check for updates nothing happened went back to GCM Diagnostics pressed disconnect, then connect, and ping nothing really happened again. Then I went back did hide debug items now Android auto menu was present and I was able to startup Android Auto without the error.

Still I do not know what was causing the issue. I was always able to use Android Auto until it was broken for no reason. Maybe some strange issue while disconnecting from the car caused the car play service to crash. Nevertheless, reboot alone did not fix it. I'll report back if it breaks again in the future and maybe dump logs directly after the incident.
