[Q] desire no longer starts or recognises charger

Hi, I bought a HTC desire from Ebay about 3 weeks ago. The guy selling it said it was like new and barely used for a month. When it turned up it was in great condition and has worked ok for the last 3 weeks. However, over the past few days it has started running very hot and yesterday lost all power; this is what happened.
Took phone off charge in the morning, indicator showing full battery. Sent 3 text messages without problems and put phone into holder as usual, placed phone in my pocket and went about my work. About half hour later took out phone to make phone call and was faced with a black screen with a pink circle (the phone is t-mobile brand). I removed the battery and rebooted but it took about 3 minutes to go from black/pink circle screen to HTC screen to T-mobile screen. Then it showed my home page and showed 'connect charger' message. The battery indicator was red with a cross through it. I tried to connect a charger but the orange light would not illuminate, i also tried 2 other mains chargers and a car charger, but none were being acknowledged. I tried my friends battery in my phone but the same thing happened...... my battery worked ok in my friend phone and showed three quarters full. so not a battery problem!
Went into hboot which is version 0.93 (and this is where i got lost) think i went into recovery and since then it is going through same process as above but is showing a black screen with a red triangle and exclamation mark........
Does anybody have any ideas how i might get this recovered if at all??? Please bare in mind that it still wont accept a charger!!!
Thanks for your consideration......
Sounds like it's ****ed. Get in contact with HTC or your carrier.

[Q] Xperia ZL Sleep of death

I haven't seen anything about this posted. I have the Xperia ZL C6506. On Monday (3 days ago) my Xperia ZL went into the dreaded sleep of death. Details: I was running the stock .253 ROM. I had rooted my phone and made some mods the previous week but they were problematic so I went ahead and flashed the .253 firmware upgrade via PC Companion which removed root and all of my mods. No big deal. I could deal with it like that. The phone was fine for several days. Operation was normal. On this particular day, I took a couple of snapshots of a rose bush outside my house. Then, I hopped into my car and as I went to send a text before pulling off, I noticed that my wallpaper was disoriented. It was still showing in landscape mode though I was holding the phone in portrait mode. I tried turning the phone over a few times with the hope that the wallpaper screen would self-correct. It did not. It was completely stuck in the wrong orientation. So, I decided to power off the phone to correct the display. I powered off, waited a moment and tried to power back on. It never came back on! No matter what I did. I tried the battery reset button on the back: NOTHING, No response. I tried repair/update with PC companion. NOTHING. I tried SONY Update service. NOTHING. My PC doesn't even recognize the phone. The phone shows no indicator light when plugged in. Mind you, my battery was at 85% when this first occurred, but I went ahead and plugged it in for 2 hours just in case. I tried everything again. Still no response. I called SONY Support. The rep on the phone had me do everything that I had already done. I did it as requested, just in case. The end result was the same. After spending over an hour on the phone with him he said he thought that the battery was dead somehow.(?) He suggested that I leave the phone plugged in overnight and call back in the morning. So, that's what I did. The next morning the phone was still dead. The same as before. The indicator light still would not come on. I went through all of the procedures again just in case. Battery rest button. PC Companion repair. Sony update Service. Everything was completely the same as before. I called Sony once again only to go through the same routine with a different rep with the same results. Only this time, Sony issued a RMA. So, I sent my device to Sony repair. I am supposed to have a working phone in my possession within 14 days. Has any else had this sleep of death issue with their ZL?
Haven't heard about since they supposedly fixed it.
How long did you press the reset? It has 2 modes. But I guess you or the sony guy already knew ^^
Yes. I am familiar with the how the reset works. The Sony rep was too. Believe me. I once held it down for 5 consecutive minutes. Still nothing.
Got it back
Well. I received my ZL from Sony Repair after 8 days. Its working perfectly now. The weird part is that on the Sony repair invoice it stated that Sony found nothing wrong with the device. So, It just decided to start functioning on it's way to Texas.
This has happened over the years my x10 as silly As it sounds the charge released to fast to even keep. Enought to allow battery charge I cut a old non used extra charger held wires to battery in my hand for a mere 7 sec put back into phone refreshed immediately to different Rom problem fixed. Someone else showed online doing it on another Sony figures what did I have to lose just in case it happens again ours was caused by a Rom hosted with a virus embedded that had too be removed but by then alot of us had those issues. Hope it helps. Sony's are good but quirks it seems are around the same with different devices usually from messing with them even with those. WHo have done it a hundred times

Is my phone dead?

Hi,
my Nexus 5X got blod several months ago and I fixed it thanks to AnyKernel2 zip by osmosis,
today, my phone froze and I force rebooted it, few minutes after the reboot my phone froze again and rebooted itself, google logo and then it died...
the phone does not give signs of life, he doesn't turn on, not even with the charging cable....
Any solution? can it be the battery?

same thing happened with my phone today as well died suddenly without notice :'( has no signs of life at all
The small core restriction fix is only a sticking plaster over a fault that won't get any better. Eventually the cracked solder joints could fail permanently.
I put it into the freezer, after 1 hour I tried to boot into bootloader, the phone was working, but when I tried to boot the os, it froze on the bootanimation and then died again

Same thing happened to my Nexus 5X, 5 days ago. It's completely dead. Had pulled it out of my pocket, and noticed it had rebooted and was waiting for the PIN to be input. So I did that, and it continued with the bootup logo (the animated circles) for about 10 seconds, then that animation froze for about 5 seconds, then the screen went blank. Now it won't turn on at all: a completely blank screen, no matter how many times I press the power button (including holding it pressed for 10, 20, 30 seconds, and longer) and holding the power button pressed in combo with Vol-Up or Vol-Down. Have had it on charge the last few days just in case that makes a difference, but no luck so far (and the same charger and cable works fine with my wife's 5X).
I originally bought the 5X in November 2015 (for $350). Then in January 2017 (13 months later) it suffered the bootloop problem. I contacted Google and they replaced it with another 5X that same month (may have been refurbished, but it looked new). Now that phone is dead 17 months later. Given I'm at just over 30 months since the original purchase, not sure if Google or LG will support it now.
Very disappointing.
My now 20 month old 5X did exactly the same early in May. I sent it to LG on June 1 and had it back on June 8. Paperwork says they replaced motherboard. Charger and cable checked out ok. Saturday, June 30, it locked up then began rebooting. Then, it shut off. It's still coming one for several minutes at a time after hours of appearing dead. I did factory reset and relocked bootloader. It's on right now, but three minutes into any activity, it will lock up then reboot. I was hoping for at least 6 months with the fix. It's back to LG. @RarbS, if you have a dated invoice for the second phone (that's what LG required), go for it. I doubt LG would have any knowledge of the Google transactions. My experience is that Google won't deal with it, ymmv. Good luck.
My first repair was not successful. Totally dead and unresponsive after a week. The second one seems to be OK so far eight months later.

I clicked "Thanks." This is exactly what I wanted to know. I've read others who said it lasted about 6 months, which I'd be happy with.

Z5 Premium won't turn on

Z5 Premium not turning on
hello everyone,
PLEASE HELP ME!
My z5 premium was working fine.. battery was charged too, and suddenly it turned off, and it didn't turn on back again. I've tried all the different ways and solutions that should turn it back on:
hard reset didn't work
2 minutes hard reset didn't work
hard reset button didn't work
plugged it in using it's OEM charger and usb cable didn't work either and LED didn't lit up
plugged it in to the computer nothing happened, wasn't detected with no sign of life
I had to take off it's battery cover (using professional tools) unplugged the battery, connected the phone to the charger while the battery is unplugged, and nothing happened reconnected the battery back, and plugged the phone again to it's wall charger, and no sign of life.
i left it there all night long since the afternoon. and when i came back in the next morning to check if the phone is charging and the LED is lit up, but again NO SIGN OF LIFE!
(BTW, the phone is in mint condition and it was never been disassembled or repaired)
Please if anyone have an idea what this could be?
if anyone has encountered the same problem and went through the same of what I've been, and was able to repair it or find a solution PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
Now, I'm thinking of 2 things: either the battery is completely dead(damaged) or it's the mainboard which I don't hope to be.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS!
Now, forget about any sort of software repair, as I explained above, the phone didn't succeed in that.
So, any help or suggestion would be so much appreciated.
Thank you all for taking time in reading and participating in this topic.
Have a good day.

Not happy reading this thread. Why so many issues with Sony Android... Anyway;;
- I recently had the same issue - or an issue in the same ball park. Phone Just died and refused to charge, but would show a red LED and try to boot when plugged in.
- Sent it to Sony, Hoping it is only a dead battery
The OP sounds like a they have a USB port issue or a board issue, also OP phone will no longer waterproof after removal of cover.
Unclear as to whether you have tried the following;
- Turn on whist holding camera button instead of Volume up/down. it is worth a try
- Try to grab an official sony charging cable- basically impossible to buy nowadays, maybe a PS4 controller cable? try it
My stock unrooted Z5p died like this in April. Have the same issue as the OP and tried all the same solutions. My Z5p had only been used indoors for months with WiFi before sudden death. Replacing the charging port did nothing. Using the OEM cable and charger with a new battery gets a 2 sec red light when connected to power and starts booting up until the swirls (gets past Sony Xperia and powered by android screens). Then the screen goes dark and shows the big battery for a couple of seconds.
I didn't realize there was a sudden death problem with Sony phones until I started trying to fix this. What's even crazier is that I had (have) the Xperia Z, Z Ultra, and the Z2. The Z2 was used in the rain constantly and even survived an ejection from a handlebar mount at 15mph onto asphalt. (All these phones were rooted and using custom ROMs/kernels.) Seems like Sony has a serious QC issue they're not taking about.
