Can I have it access the VPNs DNS servers, etc.? Is it worth it get VPN if hotspot is your sole source of internet?

I have a VPN internet plan on my T-Mobile plan. I use GPRS (internet3.voicestream.com), I'm wondering if VPN is more faster or anything?...
A VPN plan usually means you can connect to your corperate VPN over GPRS. With this plan, you can also still use GPRS as is.
There is not usually a speed difference, the difference is you are not behind a nat firewall. However different ISP's have different policies.
to use my uni wifi on my laptop i need to use the cisco anyconnect vpn client. is there a app/rom that i can use that means i can connet to the wifi network after i have configured it?
Didn't see a post directly about this so I wanted to ask.
Has anyone tinkered with having the gnex open a VPN and clients connected via the hotspot function (default vzw, rooted, or other apps) being able to access internal resources?
Not sure if a VPN is created first, the hotspot function will NAT the VPN based IP or the public vzw address.

If one Android device is configured to use VPN by its own wireless network. And then if we turn on the Wifi hotspot AP (tethering) of that Android device.
Now if Kindle Fire can hook that Android device as Wifi AP, can then Kindle Fire use the VPN as well?

In theory yes
However i have yet to find apps that allow that to happen in practice. The issue is the routing from the private ip range that the tethering app will provider to your connected guests to the address your phone has been assinged by the VPN.
I have tried a number of applications such as barnacle, foxfi, and the built in android tether in conjunciton with both a SSL and L2TP vpn and not had any luck getting it working yet.
If you find out how I would love to know also. Would be very handy for traveling with the kids and wife etc.
I am still on a grandfathered plan and would like to keep it.
When I connect to my work network, it routes all traffic... Vpn and random Internet traffic through the vpn tunnel..
If i tether while I'm connected to my vpn, can att detect it? I would think not since it's encrypted?? Or is there something I'm missing?
I'm worried that tethering would force it to use atts gateway/ip instead of the vpn.
Does anybody know?

couldn't get wifi tethering working.. anytime i enabled it 'settings' would FC (maybe because i froze tethering provision apk?
so i tried foxfi - and that wifi tether would turn on - but it would change the routing tables of my vpn.. and use normal 4g/att internet
but i have bluetooth on my laptop!
connected to vpn on phone, enabled bluetooth DUN on foxfi - and on my pc when i check my ip on third party websites (i.e nwtools.com) , it shows the IP of my VPN....
so far so good, i hope they can't see this traffic.
