Hi Guys
Im getting this phone through a carrier in South Africa and I want to find out wich version im getting.I want to know what are the model numbers for the dual sim and single sim variants and wich single sim variants can be flashed to unlock dual sim capability
Regards
Edit:found out that its the Brazilian XT1635-02.Its dual sim but one of the sim slots is a hybrid sim/sdcard slot
Edit 09\06\2017:Got the phone today. Its XT1635-02 with retry firmware. The second Sim slot has a plastic cover but otherwise from what I can tell it has the hardware in place to accept dual sim

I am planning on getting the zenfone 2 until I became questioning. I have a personal phone on wind and a business phone on telus, and I need to know if the dual Sim will support that. One of them will be the data but both numbers are gonna be used. I can set up call forwarding. Will this configuration work? Thank you
PS. This is for 2 gig 1.8 GHz version
Provided the sim you use for data is in sim slot 1 and you don't want anything other than talk and sms on sim 2. It should be fine. The sim in the 2nd slot must be able to support 2g.
I need the telus one to support 2g then? How do I check of it is supported
Ask them? I'm on a 3 and 4g only network for one sim and that has to be in slot 1. Won't work in sim 2 at all. The other sim is an EE UK sim and that works fine in both slots.
Hey I see that you can use a dual SIM card tray... Where do you get them from ?
Thank you
Edit I have 5g version if that matters
Update - I have UK on ee 5g pro but SIM tray will only take one SIM it's not double sided.
i bought one from ebay
just search for oneplus 7 pro sim tray
I don't think the 5g model will take 2 sims. (Noticed your 2nd post so you presumably already know this )
I don't know if the 5g is dual SIM how can I find out? It has no settings in UI for a 2nd SIM
Anyone know if the 5g version is dual SIM... Two different people say two different things.
Regards
has anyone checked this out for the 5G version yet? might just order one and try it.
The 5G model can do dual-SIM, but you will lose 5G. You literally would have to flash it do a different firmware to achieve this or hope for someone to create a ROM with the 5G firmware that enables dual-SIM. The hardware is capable of dual-SIM, it's just disabled in the 5G firmware.
eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-OEM-Du...var=522291973382&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Due to arrive in 7 to 10 days.
Update: it works perfectly!
How did you get.it to work
Hello, i have the sam A705FN (non dual sim varient, however other network providers here do have the DS varient)
When i took this phone i assumed i would get th Dual sim varient.
I see on my sim tray i have shouldhve had space for 3 cards (one last slot is blanked out)
Now my question is, if i get a ds varient sim tray will i be able to ise dual sim, even if i need to somehow flash the ds firmware.
And does the fn varient even have the hardware to support dual sim

all A705FN firmwares are for dual sim , exept on your device the dual sim is greyed out , you can buy a dual sim varient but tell me whats your country and service provider

I don't think you can use dual sim even if you used the tray form a dual sim model. If the phone only shows 1 IMEI number the device probably only has 1 sim card slot.

true but you can trick the phone by adding a 2st imei from another phone , also the firmware check of your hardware is compatible , so if it detect a dual sim it could theorically work and the settings would appear again or not be greyed out anymore

How can we be sure that there is a second sim card reader in it?

Yeah you can't be sure. My guess would be that it does not have a second sim card reader because it doesn't make sense for a company to make hardware and disable it through software (Even though it could and has happened). Cant be sure until somebody does a teardown comparison.

Hey, sorry for only getting back to you now, life has been busy..
but here's what's happened since i last posted.
I have an a70 from MTN-SA (mobile telecommunications network south Africa)
it is a single sim tray.
i used a sim tray from the Samsung galaxy a50 Dual sim variant, with no second sim detected unfortunately.
i wonder if the device has the hardware to support a second sim. If so, i do have an extra IMEI number to use that i got off a cheapo dual sim china phone.

i wondered the same thing.. But there is a dual sim variant of this device out in the wild.
My country doesn't allow dual sim (only with 2 specific carriers [cell-c & Telkom Mobile (8ta)])
so it's weird that they would make two separate hardware revisions for the same market?
hey guys I am looking to purchase a note ten plus and was wondering if the dual sim feature would work with two different carriers, both carriers are on gsm networks.
Yes it will.
Just make sure it's unlocked and not from a ISP/services provider.
If it comes from a Telco (vodafone/O2 and other) they are software restricted to 1 SIM. You can reflash with an unlocked software (general 975F firmware and it would unlock SIM management but the telco would or should have the 2nd SIM locked.
AFAIK there isn't a sensible way to unlock a 2nd SIM for an officially single SIM device, though it Should be possible.
Has anyone attempted making their single SIM GP6 or GP6P Dual SIM just by changing the tray?
J/Wing before I order tray and find out....

The 6 Pro (and I believe the 6) are dual sim, its just one sim is an eSim, not a physical sim. Changing the tray will not make any difference as there is not 2 physical sim readers in the phone.

On OS's like LOS and StratiX I believe it reads 2 IMEI and 1 ESID for eSIM.
It should also be kept in mind that Google Pixels do not have "true" dual sim (sim/sim or sim/esim in this case), but "Dual SIM Dual Standby" (DSDS). So even if the in-built sim card/scanner would be replaced, that doesn't solve the software level limitation to DSDS (only one sim can be used for calls, and the other one for sms and vice versa).
