I've been trying to search on how to modify the user agent of the HTC messaging app. I've been able to come across info on modifying the stock android mms app, but not the HTC app.
Is anyone able to guide me in the right direction?

I have updated my handcent sms to version 4.7 and now in sms i have android smileys which i hate. (however, at the sime time, when I open sms list where all my conversation are, I see emoji smileys)
Tried to change settings to get my emoji smileys in sms back, but didn't manage to. Only figured out how to switch them off. I want emoji smileys back in sms. Any suggestions?
I believe there's an emoji package for Handcent in the play store.

On older versions it was alright. The problem is that in one place (inside the sms) android smileys are displayed, but i want there to be handcent default smileys, not the android ones. But i can't change that, only switch them off. Is it the new version bug?
Why don't you use gosms the emojis package on that work.

I love the emojis soo much. I prefer to use chomp because they automatically switch smileys to emojis

Go to the list view, settings, then application settings, and towards the bottom is the emoji settings. Just changed mine with no problem. Hope that helps

Hey xda! I've been searching around for a 4.2 Keyboard with Emojis embedded with it. I can't code so I can't embed the emojis into the keyboard file to flash onto my phone. Anyone think they can help?
How's this one? Ok it's not a full keyboard, just emoji, but it is stock from the n4 and works on gnex.
Emoji-keyboard-4.2-signed.zip - 2.88 MB
Try a ROM that comes with it. I personally use paranoid android.
I use this one with the handcent emoji plugin. best choice IMO. however, you lose swype functionality, but the colored emojis (Only in messaging and the keyboard itself) make up for that.

I used to be a big fan of hand cent, but I felt like it was slowing my phone down especially with the popup messenger. Is it any better now?

i don't use the Handcent messaging app. the keyboard uses Handcent's emoji plugin. Giving you the opportunity to have the stock keyboard and with one long press and swipe you'll get and colored emoji keyboard that looks like the iphone version
I'm using PA and my stock messaging app doesn't have emoji, I have to install AOKP messaging app everytime I flash a new version of PA. does yours have emoji?

HI, got the kitkat 4.4.2 on my 9195 4G LTE and the stock sms app has added some stupid contact icons next to every message you send or get. I know its a small thing but IT REALLY REALLY ANNOYS ME! Add that to the stupid txt and call alerts that appear on the lock screen... well I really wish it was on 4.1.2 like my old S3.
Well to combat the lock screen rubbish I rooted and used an Xposed module to disable the alerts.
Now the SMS app, does anyone know if the stock ANDROID sms app has the message icons? Or is this a samsung thing?
If the stock android hasn't got these message icons then can I remove the samsung version and install the android stock sms app? (If so where would i get it)
If not, does anyone know how to remo e the message icons? And I have tried other sms apps and don't care for them.
Thanks

At least on Cyanogenmod 10.1, the icons are there as well. I would bet dollars to donuts it is on the AOSP one too (as CM wouldn't have touched too much of this app form the AOSP original).
But I can fire up my AVD's and check out AOSP for you, even look as to what version the profile photos were added.
