Hey xda! I've been searching around for a 4.2 Keyboard with Emojis embedded with it. I can't code so I can't embed the emojis into the keyboard file to flash onto my phone. Anyone think they can help?
How's this one? Ok it's not a full keyboard, just emoji, but it is stock from the n4 and works on gnex.
Emoji-keyboard-4.2-signed.zip - 2.88 MB
Try a ROM that comes with it. I personally use paranoid android.
I use this one with the handcent emoji plugin. best choice IMO. however, you lose swype functionality, but the colored emojis (Only in messaging and the keyboard itself) make up for that.

I used to be a big fan of hand cent, but I felt like it was slowing my phone down especially with the popup messenger. Is it any better now?

i don't use the Handcent messaging app. the keyboard uses Handcent's emoji plugin. Giving you the opportunity to have the stock keyboard and with one long press and swipe you'll get and colored emoji keyboard that looks like the iphone version
I'm using PA and my stock messaging app doesn't have emoji, I have to install AOKP messaging app everytime I flash a new version of PA. does yours have emoji?

I use this or this. One is a regular format stock MMS app and one is a bubble format stock MMS app. i believe the zips are flashable if not let me know and ill give you instructions on how to install them.

I hate the stock messaging app. I don't really like Handcent, except that it has the "Iphone" look and makes text conversations go side to side. Is it difficult to drop another messaging app in as the stock messaging app? I would love to see more ROMs(mostly Ava because that is what I generally run) use another messaging app. Thanks for your time.

No its not hard. Thats why the rom devs don't do it. It lets everyone go choose what app they would like. Also some of the sms apps require the original messaging to still be installed... which makes it harder.
I would try go sms. LOTS of themes, and options.

I did not know that some messaging apps require the stock messaging app. I would think that when you have to programs doing the same thing, the phone is not being as efficient as possible. How can someone replace the stock messaging app with a new one? I don't want to use an app in conjunction with another app and disable the original, I want to get rid of the original.
Two ways....
Either break open the rom and delete out the apps you don't want before flashing. Or, install app you want then go in and delete (not disable) the original app using appropriate file manager program.
Can we get emoji but still keep the same stock messaging app? I have go keyboard but i dont really want to download any messaging app haha this is lame but just wondering if there's anything to do to keep the go keyboard and stock messaging
Is there any way I can see emoji on my phone, sadly I have many friends that are iPhone owners

Chomp sms and go sms both have emoji add on packs. I know for a fact chomp works between iphone. Also if you do decide to use a third party and make sure to go into your normal one and open settings. You want to turn notifications off so you dont get double.

Handcent also has them.
Yea but im talking bout to show it on my phone it only shows squares lol

Download and install the Emoji smiley faces that come in a prepackaged theme.
You can find those in Go SMS Pro, by default or from within the Go Store that allows you to locate and install add-ons directly from within the application.

Yeah, don't hold your breath. It works off and on and becomes broken everytime ios gets updated. I have an ipod I know. Then it takes months for devs to update it on Android.
It sucks I want to see what iPhone owners experience with emoji but since I can't see the emoji I can't since i can't see it.. lol

I have Handcent SMS installed with emoji addon and keep notifications turned off. I use stock messaging app mostly but when someone sends an emoji text (blank or those boxes) I just look at it with handcent. I have used it for about a year and never had an issue with it.
try out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093197
i also just use handcent sms addon pack to send emoji
those steps will allow you to see emoji on your phone only downside is that emoji is black and white and not in color but it works. ive tested it on twitter and words with friends should be able to see emoji in any app.
hope this helps.
** correct dl link to the fonts is on page 9 posted by djcrapsody**
They already showed you how.
Get go SMS pro.then get the go SMS pro emoji plugin and use go SMS pro. Done. Works fine 100% of the time.
Btw you're not missing anything. Its really effing dumb.

Is there any way to outfit the Jellybean keyboard with emojis support like on the iPhone? Currently I can only use emojis in SMS and MMS running codename with a quick emoji button enabled.

You'd have to either get a themed keyboard or download a different keyboard from the playstore
If you have the AOKP ROM, in the Messaging App, you can turn on Emoji's and use them just like the iPhone. You can also insert them.

I'm running codename and I have that enabled and have a button on then side to insert without the need to go into the menu. However I'm interested in something that's universal and could be used with any app such as instagram and Facebook.

I dont know any personally, since I dont really use emoticons, but the one that comes to mind is the go keyboard, it has an emoji plugin, which i think should be what you are after
I have updated my handcent sms to version 4.7 and now in sms i have android smileys which i hate. (however, at the sime time, when I open sms list where all my conversation are, I see emoji smileys)
Tried to change settings to get my emoji smileys in sms back, but didn't manage to. Only figured out how to switch them off. I want emoji smileys back in sms. Any suggestions?
I believe there's an emoji package for Handcent in the play store.

On older versions it was alright. The problem is that in one place (inside the sms) android smileys are displayed, but i want there to be handcent default smileys, not the android ones. But i can't change that, only switch them off. Is it the new version bug?
Why don't you use gosms the emojis package on that work.

I love the emojis soo much. I prefer to use chomp because they automatically switch smileys to emojis

Go to the list view, settings, then application settings, and towards the bottom is the emoji settings. Just changed mine with no problem. Hope that helps
