I am trying to root my device and i have the application win-droid to do it. The twrp will not work, it said it flashed it onto my device. Im not an expert on this stuff so i looked it up, and people said that win-droid and twrp is finicky at this point and time, i did the boot loader thing first and all that so i unlocked my watch but i dont know what else to do,. If you know how to flash the twrp can you give me a detailed explanation on how to do so.
If you are wondering, im trying to make it so i can switch phones without having to factory reset

Ive tried searching and googling, but couldnt really find an answer to my problem..I have flashed many roms on my HD2, but only 1 on my gnex. I dont know much about using terminal and the adb system..so im quite lost.
sitation:
-when i put my battery in, i can go into fastboot
-if i let it boot, the google logo with the lock at the bottom boots... then it goes to the loading screen... after about 5-10 seconds, it will reboot and repeat.
i have the sdk tools thing installed on my mac. Im pretty sure its installed correctly but im not exactly sure how to use it.I have an old version of gummy (0.9.0?) and have been running it fine for about 2 months. I used the toolkit program to root and unlock it. installed cwm and installed the rom. didnt have any problems until today, i had just sent an email, and then about a minute or two later, the phone restarted and started booting itself over and over.
I booted into recovery and wiped everything and still boot loops. So i wiped everything again and installed the same rom because I don't know transfer through bootloader. still no luck, after leaving bootloader or recovery it will continue to boot loop.
right now i cant reflash to stock because i can't get my phone to connect to my mac.
my questions:
-will i need to reflash my baseband//kernel/recovery?
-either an update of the rom or a new rom would fix this, yes? how do i transfer a new rom to my phone through fastboot?
-Since i dont have access to my pc, can i do this from my mac? How?
sorry to be so newbie, but i really am with the gnex If anyone can please give me a general step by step... i can search how to specifically do each step.. but i just need help figuring out what to do at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!
So I was running the New Rom gohma in the Dev section everything was fine and I flashed a update on my phone so I went to factory reset it to pair it to my phone and boom I got stuck in a boot loop. After my hour of being brain dead and forgetting how to get in the bootloader. Now I have that figured out. I can get it to take different recoveries but when I flash a boot.img and system.img it either gets stuck at the M or it just boots into TWRP (or recovery) . I tried to clean some things to make sure it was a fresh install using -w witch now even if I flash a system or a boot.im TWRP wont mount recovery or back up I must of brooked the partition. So im guessing there is a way to fix this but I feel like im going the opposite direction with a phone I would just go for it till I got it because I feel more complaint that I wont destroy my device. where iam starting to doubt myself of that with the MOTO 360. I decided to put it down for the night to try and get some advise or help from others. I really enjoy learning these stuff and im ok with it for a learning project as long as I can save it at this point. I was also very frustrated so I decided to take a break . ANY HELP ADVISE
So the old ROM I was on (a super outdated Android Revolution) needed to be updated because my battery was draining a lot and I figured I would update everything. Apparently I flashed a bad or wrong version of TWRP, so I can't get into recovery. It just sits there trying to get into recovery but it keeps failing. Then I tried using MultiRom recovery and installing that through the app in the play store. Now my phone won't go into recovery and just boot loops. I can get into the HBOOT menu but I can't get into recovery or boot the device at all. Does anyone have any ideas to get a working recovery or working ROM? I already backed up my pictures and videos and stuff, but I forgot to transfer my titaniumbackup files I've been trying to look around and see how to fix it but I don't want to do something that will cause more damage than I've already done. I did all this to update my firmware so that I can use the newer ROMs. Anyway if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance.
You didn't mention whether or not you are S-off and/or bootloader unlocked.
Since you already have a custom ROM, you must have unlocked your bootloader at some point, so if it is STILL unlocked, just reflash the correct recovery from fastboot. If it is not, unlock it with HTCdev first, then reflash the correct recovery.
Alternately, if you just want the phone fixed, you can always re-run the AT&T RUU - though that will trash any files you have on the phone.
Yeah that's what I did yesterday thanks for the response!
Hello, I apologize if many people have already asked for help with this issue but I have looked over the forum many times and none of the solutions have applied to me.
I was running 7.0 and my Nexus 5X had a random crash and went into BootLoop. I being stupid, flashed the wrong boot.img at first but not sure if that has damaged the phone. I upon realizing my mistake, cleared the original one and flashed all the right imgs. One thing i'm not too sure about is whether to lock the oem after flashing everything even though it will wipe everything or leave it unlocked till it actually boots, or does this make no difference. Regardless, open flashing everything I still encounter bootloop. I am able to go to the fastboot menu, I am not able to run recovery successfully, I am able to go to the download and firmware update screen. My laptop detects the device as an Android.
Here's what I need:
Can someone please tell me what I need to do to start fresh, in case I went wrong anywhere to fix any partitions any kernels and then reflash all the ROMs in order to have my phone working again. Also, does it matter what firmware I am flashing?
If you have any questions let me know,
Thanks!
Hi,
I don't really know much of rooting and stuff and that is why I have the following problem.
My htc one m8 was rooted for a couple of months but as of yesterday something strange happend.
I really don't know what I did but for the moment my phone is stuck on the boot screen.
By holding power + up + down i can get in the Hboot mode but I have no clue what I can do next.
TWRP is installed and when I try to install a zip in TWRP I have the error of 5DM file missing.
My pc isn't recognizing my phone so I'm really stuck.
Can someone please explain me what I can do? I'm a real noob.
Some extra information, my phone is unlocked, s-on,.. more I don't know.
I would really appreciate it!!!
If you have stock rom and want to have stock too, then you need to flash it by ruu or find an twrp backup for your version.
If you have/want a custom rom then you can easily flash it by twrp, I suggest you updating twrp, then you won't have any issues.
