[Q] Jelly "hidden" settings? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

I know Jelly is new and improving, but now that the other basic browsers like Gello are gone, Jelly is what we have in LineageOS. I find that the "Settings" page in Jelly is limited and basic. Is there any other way of accessing setting controls, similar to "about:about" for Firefox, or "chrome://chrome-urls" in Chrome?

Disguise as non-mobile browser in Froyo

I've recently rooted my Desire and am running DeFrost but I've noticed something different with the web browser. For some reason, I can no longer hide the fact that the browser is a mobile browser which changes the appearance of some websites. I don't like this.
Is there any way around this? I was wondering if my browser before was a HTC one so maybe switching to a ROM like Modaco or OpenDesire's official port would help. Thing is, I'm not particularly fond of Sense.
Also, I read something about there being a way to replace the hosts file so it blocks out the ads. Is this still possible in Froyo?
If you get Dolphin HQ browser from market, you can download a desktop toggles add-on, which switches between android and desktop ID
Will that work for all browsers or just Dolphin?
Or just type in about:debug in the address bar and "go". Then go to Menu > Settings > UAString
This only half works.
Some sites are now intelligent enough that even though you change your user agent to a desktop one that they can work out you are a mobile and redisplay a mobile specific page
about:debug doesn't seem to work in the default Froyo browser.
It's ok. I've found the answer here: http://www.nexusoneforum.net/forum/...ion/6167-change-user-agent-android-phone.html
When you do about:debug nothing APPEARS to happen, but if you then go into the settings there are more options available.

[Q] How to Disable Referer in Stock Browser?

Or other browsers? e.g. ICS browser, chrome beta?
Is there a possible way?
What do you mean by referrer?
Edit:
If you mean 'Launch by default'? This can be cleared in Settings>Apps>(AppNameHere) and clear Launch by default settings.

Chrome App delete cookies (default Jelly Bean Browser)

Hey guys,
I am waiting for JB to arrive on my GN and read about Chrome being the new default browser in this OS. This would be fine since I prefer it over the stock-ICS-Browser, except for one detail: I could not yet find an option to delete cookies in Chrome
With the ICS Browser it was a simple button beneath the "Accept cookies" checkbox, but I can't seem to find such a thing in Chrome. I think many tech-savvy user are surfing the web with ad-blockers and deny cookies (or at least delete them once in a while to stop websites from profiling).
Anybody found a solution to this? Where are they stored? Does a "clear-data" of the Chrome app delete them? (should be easy to test, will try it ;-)
Chrome ---> Settings ---> "Content settings" Accept Cookies"
Chrome ---> Settings ---> Privacy ---> "CLEAR BROWSING DATA" "Clear cookies, site data" will delete cookies...

intelligent text scaling (of Chrome) in JB Stock browser?

I like Chrome's ability to automatically scale up text size (especially when reading forums), but it's not as smooth as Stock JB browser.
Is there a way to get Chrome's "intelligent" text scaling capability by using plugins in stock JB browser?
I've attached some images of the "intelligent" text scaling in action. It is very useful when reading in websites (e.g. forums or blogs), as it allows you to read the content of the website without zooming in.
Or is there a project (or a port of Stock Browser) that tries to implement this "intelligent text scaling" of chrome?
I still like Stock Browser's smoothness, but I like the comfort Chrome give me when reading articles or forums.
Have you tried Text scaling in stock browser's Accessibility Settings? It's enough for me.
Yeah, ive tried it but i prefer a 100% scaling, as putting in higher scales sometimes messes up the format of some websites

Stock browser is not remembering Accesibility settings

The stock browser is not applying my Accessibility settings when it first loads a page. I have the font to be augmented to 145% but each time I open a web page it's like I didn't set the option at all. Once in the page I go to the accesibility settings again and disable/enable (or viceversa) anything in it (like the 'force zoom' option, or the 'text booster') and when I exit the settings (without ever reloading the page) the settings are finally applied. It's like the browser finally reads the settings and applies them.
Before you guys recommend a "better" browser I know there are many other browsers out there including chrome but I prefer this one and I want to know if anyone has had this happen and managed to fix it or anything.
Thanks!
I tried every browser and none was as good as "browser". Turns out that someone uploaded an AOSP version of browser to the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.android.browser it's even better than the stock browser on the mini since this one is closer to the one I used to use on my S3 with all the cool nifty features (full screen mode, night mode, etc). It's really cool and it doesn't have the bugs ailing the stock browser.
