So i downloaded a 2160p (3840x1606) video and its not playing as it should. When i play it there is a lot of lag. I am using mxplayer.
I was hoping for it to play since it does record 4k videos. Can someone tell me if there is a way to Watch these videos properly on mzp at all?
There's a problem in the video not in the device.
Download another video and try.
(Don't DL it from the same site from where you have downloaded this video)
Did it. This one is 3840x2160. Same result in mxplayer and vlc.
Can someone else try it? Coz am pretty sure this device doesnt play the actual 4k. Coz the one it records doesnt really look like one.

So can we say the other ones have diffrent configurations?
It can't play 10bit material, no matter which resolution or video codec

Guys, I posted a workaround in another thread... > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6902833&postcount=9
hey buddy, does it play MKV downloaded straight from the net?
Like a 720p vid without needing to encode?

yes it does.. but no SUBS..
I've tried Naruto Shippuuden and Bleach both 720p by [Horrible Subs], Audio and Video works, but no Subs...
yeah I wanna know if there was an android video player out there, which can display embedded sub while watching hd content.
Check out this h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6902833&postcount=9 Right now it's the easiest solution.
Isn't that the OP's 'solution' ? haha
yes
he figured it out after
LOL
It still looks like there isn't a standalone player out there.
Using a few players it would either do one of the following:
1. Play the video in really good sharp resolution without dropping any frames, but here's no sound, and no subtitles. Ack!
2. Play the video in really awful quality with artifacts the size of Mount Tiwaluho but you got sound and subtitles, yet it's stuttering.
Can't win eh? Still, it seems that it is possible. The hardware is there. I think it's only a matter of time. Until then, we're better of using this workaround:
hXXp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6902833&postcount=9
Try this
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/media_and_video/mkv-subextractor_ltlg_download.html
works fine for me
works with embedded srt and ass subs
I use mVideoPlayer, plays 720p mkvs with softsubs perfectly for me
Ah, i see The.Opethian and Volcacius beat me to it. And now I find out they just linked to one of the OPs other posts...
Hey,
has anyone tried to play 720p movies/clips on the DHD? It would make sence to be possible but so far, i've tried a lot of players and no luck there. Vplayer get pretty close but the playback is still jerky.
Ideas?
I use vplayer aswell but you have to change the vidoe quality setting from speed to quality. It smooths out the movie and runs pretty good
try rockplayer

mx player surely will gave you some optimize. with this low spec phone not very help.
you can try to re-encoder your video on pc first. make it to resolution at 480p while maintain 2mbps compression.
you can using iMedia converter deluxe or something like that.

I have xperia z ultra that can play 4k video hardware acceleration without trouble. we talk about processing and capability of hardware here. thats why you need right encoding setting suited to this phone. btw why you want to watch HD videos on this low resolution display? watch it on your big screen LCD TV.
He's right. Use your tv for thatt.

This threads is discussed long ago. Did not know if someone will tell. I think MX player should play HD videos but sometimes video plays slowly but sound is OK, so sound sometime stops to maintain the video with sound. Some HD files plays but some are not. I do not know if there was a fix for that.
I can watch only in 720p max someone know what I need to do to watch in 4k?

YouTube doesn't even support 4k but there is a new update in which you can view videos in 1440p if the video is even uploaded in that high of a resolution.

Videos should be able to be viewed if they are available in 1440p or higher, just look up "4k video" and it should output after setting.
If it doesn't output, what version of YouTube do you have? Can be viewed under the Apps section in settings.

The official youtube application for android doesnt support resolution higher than 720p. Either install the application Viral Popup (youtube player) for a resolution up to 1080p or view the video from within a suitable browser. I ve heard that the lg g3 supports flash playback. If your browser can not play flash content then install the hacked version of flash player and the dolphin browser and you re set.

This is completely false. The official YT app will support up to 2k on compatible phones with 2k screens.
The official youtube app supports up to 1440p on the G3 and has done for nearly 2 months now, I use it all the time.
OP, I am not sure why you are not seeing it, have you tried to remove youtube (if system app "uninstall updates), wipe cache and data, reboot then reinstall and see if it works then.
