I am not able to play 720p videos smoothly. I have tried mxplayer, diceplayer, vplayer. Nothing works smoothly. I have a lot of movies with size 2GB+.When I try to play them, the video is lagging. Can anyone play 720p videos smoothly???
Which ROM are you using?

Hey,
has anyone tried to play 720p movies/clips on the DHD? It would make sence to be possible but so far, i've tried a lot of players and no luck there. Vplayer get pretty close but the playback is still jerky.
Ideas?
I use vplayer aswell but you have to change the vidoe quality setting from speed to quality. It smooths out the movie and runs pretty good
try rockplayer
im using it and its never lagged when playing 720p videos...

I've yet to see a player that can handle .mkv files.
Due to VPlayer becoming commercial (after the dev promised 'forever free') I will suggest QQPlayer.

That really got on my nerves. I didnt update and blocked it from accessing the internet. Not much has been added in the new versions
Ok - have spent an hour or two scouring the posts on here but as yet haven't managed to sort out jumpy playback of 720p MKV files - ranging from 100Mb to 3Gb. Have used rockplayer, a trial of diceplayer and some other players. But as yet no avail.
Please could someone give me some pointers as to what to try next?
Thanks in advance.
Try MX PLAYER

Yes Mate it can. I just tried with a movie trailer that was 1080p just wanted to make it work that's all. All other videos I have are in 720p format. I tried lot of other players but only MX seems to work fine.
Try turning off Bravia engine. Even with MX Player I had issues playing HD movies, but with Bravia Engine off, everything works perfectly (even without MX Player).
I think SE did some good optimization in recent firmware because at 2.3.2 firmware I had issues playing the videos regardless of whether I used Bravia Engine or not and at that time MX Player was definitively helpful.
Try out BSplayer lite too, it has hardware-accelerated software decoding.
Is there a player which allows for MKV 720p files to run smoothly on the defy+?? i tried MX but the playback is laggy

Our phones dont support that format(mkv container). It can only play 720p mp4.

teamwork makes the dream work

hello.
I would like to play full movies 1080p & 720p on my Gnex.
I'm using mx player. before I play the video I'm shutting down all other apps via Advanced task killer.
still, the video is lagging, even with 720P movies.
what can I do to make it run smoothly ?
Thank you !
I use MX Player to play 720p and 1080p mp4 videos and they play smoothly. I haven't tried mkv videos yet, though.

From what I understand, these video players that allow you to play non-naively supported video extensions are constantly decoding the video on a software level.
You'll need one that supports full hardware decoding.
I don't really have a recommendation...but I'd google around and see if you find one that works for our phones.
I'd help, but I don't really have any MKV files lying around
Thank you friend.
It is very important to me.
(and yes I am talking about mkv files)

Dice player play with hw, lag less, mkv files:
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.inisoft.mediaplayer.a
mx and bs players both play 720p .mkv's fine for me - haven't tried any 1080p.
So i downloaded a 2160p (3840x1606) video and its not playing as it should. When i play it there is a lot of lag. I am using mxplayer.
I was hoping for it to play since it does record 4k videos. Can someone tell me if there is a way to Watch these videos properly on mzp at all?
There's a problem in the video not in the device.
Download another video and try.
(Don't DL it from the same site from where you have downloaded this video)
Did it. This one is 3840x2160. Same result in mxplayer and vlc.
Can someone else try it? Coz am pretty sure this device doesnt play the actual 4k. Coz the one it records doesnt really look like one.
