My storage is increasing repeatedly without any apps or files!!
From 1 gb then 2 gb then 3gb then 4gb then 4.51 and is again increasing.
I don't know why
I don't have any unnecessary app or file or root!
Tried power off bit isn't fixed.
What is the problem?
what should i do?
is it necessary to perform reset or hard reset?
is this ever happened with anyone?
Please tell!
EDIT:SOLVED!

I have found the file!
Named passivedata.zipzip
I have deleted this file and now my storage is normal and as of now it's not increasing like before i think.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT IS THIS FILE?
WILL IT AGAIN CREATE PROBLEM?
PLEASE HELP!
EDIT :SOLVED!

I'm sure there is one rough application installed on your phone ... Can you post the list of your installed apps ?

THANKS Jatinkhatri
Problem is solved.

@Yash24 please tell us which app caused the problem. If someone has the same problem, he could find your solution here and not only the question.

PROBLEM WAS CREATED BY MY JIO APP!
IT CREATES A FILE NAMEDPassivedatazip.zip Which is very Very big in size (4-5gb) and can eat the whole space of the device.
So you should delete that file and also uninstall MY JIO app. Because if you will not delete that file ,phone will become very slow and no storage will be left!
SO GUYS UNINSTALL THE MY JIO APP TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM.
THANKS!

[Q] Memory Full Errors - Is it time to rebuild?

I have an ATT Tilt 2 and am getting Memory Full errors. I have previously gone through and deleted old apps that aren't needed, but now I don't know what can be deleted and what is necessary.
I'm thinking it's time to rebuild the phone. I have ROM 2 - 2.10.502.4, but not sure if that is the best or correct way to fix this problem.
I would appreciate any comments on steps to rebuild one's phone or how to clean up this problem when I don't know what else to delete.
Thank you,
Richard..

Is your rom capable of using apps2sd? If not then do you have the app root explorer or are you experienced with using adb shell?
If so I'd go in and delete some of the system's apps located in the /system/app directory because it seems like you're just deleting the data's app located in the /data/app directory, which is when you do the uninstall app method through the phone. That could help clear some memory but I'm curious. How many apps do you have on your phone and what type are they? Games usually take up a lot of space so that could be a problem as well.

[Q] Insufficient storage available

Just bought GN for a few days... restored apps from my Atrix to GN with Mybackup...
When updating apps in Market, most updated but Friendcast... error "Insufficient storage available"...(but there is still 12Gb memory)
then, I deleted some big apps as well as the Friendcast... tried to install Friendcast again but failed with same reason... (also failed to install Flash and some other apps in Market with same error)
But there is no problem to import files with USB or AirDroid...
Pls help and advise how to fix it. (before I reset the device as my least priority)
Thousand thanks.

Haven't really heard of this before but off the top of my head, my first guess would be perhaps the applications (in their manifest file the app author made) are set to auto install to the /sdcard instead of to the device internal memory? If so, and your "sdcard" allocated memory is full, this could trigger the insufficient space error message.
Check out my first suggestion as that is the only suggestion which comes to mind. If that doesn't help, post back and I guess we'll see what other options there might.
I'm sure somebody else will probably have a few good suggestions also which might help!
Thanks joeykrim.
u are right... since it is able to update paradise island (2Xmb), but some smaller apps doesn't.... like Friendcast, winamp...
But i have no idea what to do at this moment... sigh....
... just notified 1X apps need to update in Market...
after updated, 4 left with same error msg...
ie, Google map, Multi Touch Tester, QuickPic and LINE....
then, i tried to update again and updated LINE, ie, rest 3 left....
then, i tried again and again... still these 3 left...

response from Samsung:
"Thanks for enquiry. According to the symptom, we suggest your side to check with the apps provider for further assistance."
I have reported to those apps proivders... hope there will be response and fix ASAP...
Merry X'mas!!
.. after all... i reset my device last night...
after switched on again... setup with connecting wifi... market restored all my apps automatically and no problem found. thanks god!
joeykrim, Thanks again for your advice and Merry X'mas!!

Looks like you took the hard way
I had the same problem a couple of times. The easiest way to solve it is to run Lucky Patcher and you'll see a toast notification that unused data/odex has been removed. That should solve the problem.
Hit 'Thanks' if it helped. Cheers!

[Q] Android Revolution - basic question

Hello
Please forgive any non-tech language.
Please help - my recently-ex-boyfriend hacked my new phone and it now has Android Revolution on it.
I keep running out of space even though I don't have much on it - and looking at the storage in Settings, it seems that Android Revolution (542 MB) and Flash Boot (4.83MB) is taking up some of the space that I could do with freeing up.
Can I just delete them? Will everything still work?
I assume this is the case but could do with confirmation just in case it does anything to the phone that I can't undo.
He would help, but I don't like to ask.
So I'm relying on you guys - as he asked for help here when he messed up the hack in the first place!
Thanks in advance.

While I've got your attention - can I manually update SuperSU? It's telling me I need to but I don't know what it is/does.
Thanks - I may be a frequent visitor until I work out what I'm doing!

That is what gives you the root. So yeah update that through the market..
And welcome
There may be another reason why you don't have so much space. There are a few threads on here about the disk losing a whole bunch of it's 25GB for different reasons. the .lost folder being one of them.
Aargh, really?
Yes, it does seem bonkers to me. I've gone through and deleted music I don't listen to. I only have one or two episodes of t.v. on there and it's saying 'no space' all the time. Is there anything I can do without roping him back in?
How do I diagnose what the space problem is? What will I see in .Lost?
And then what do I do to fix it?
You're going to regret helping me as I am a real novice...
Thanks so much!
E
Grab an app called "Titanium Backup" from the market, besides its utility as a backup tool it will give you visual and numeric summaries of how much space you have left on your System, Internal storage and SD card. Where is it saying that you are running out of space though?
If it is displaying that message when you are trying to install apps then it is likely that the market is a little broken, this can be fixed easily with titanium backup (you just clear all the market "links" and then use an option called "Market Doctor" to restore the correct links. (I remember reading that this can be a permissions problem too and using the "fix permissions" option from Clockwork can also fix, I haven't tried it although it cant do any harm)
From the sounds of it your SD card should have a ton of free space...
I assume this is on your internal sdcard? Or RAM? Where your applications go? If its your ram, then delete some of the applications you have installed. If its your internal SD card then try deleting the application data that applications download automatically. Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm SD Maid system cleaner, it essentially does what I previously proposed for you.

Ummmm
I think it's the internal SD card.
Specifically: I am using ADownloader and whenever I try to download something now it says there is no space (despite frantic deleting on my part).
And I have a calendar app which this morning was telling me it couldn't update data as there was no space on the device.
I'll try what you suggest and if there is an error message, I'll make a note and let you know exactly what it says.
Thanks, again.

Stuart, storage is not RAM.
As I said earlier it sounds like your internal storage is full. Please give figures of capacity&used for:
Internal Storage
ROM
SDCARD
okay...
25.85 G capacity
25.06 G used
Free 791.81 M
13.42 G is music which is surely not much and 9% is Adownloader.
Help!
What next?
E
Installed Titanium Backup but it says:
"could not acquire root privileges.
Please verify that you ROM is rooted and incluces BusyBox and try again.
This attempt was made using the "/system/xbin/su" command."
I thought that Android Revolution meant that he had rooted it??
(if that's the right vocabulary I'm using....).
E
Ah except that under the error message it says:
System ROM 1.32GB (518 MB free)
Internal 2.26 GB (426 MB Free)
SD card 27.1 GB (830 MB free)
Does that help?
E
Can you take a few screen shots of the SD usage? I should have a good understanding of what needs to be deleted. Or you can wipe your SD card and transfer your music over once that's done?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Okay I've done some searching and it seems that the best thing you can do is make a copy of your SD card on to your PC and then wipe it and transfer the data back. This seems to be a problem, but will most likely be fixed with a future update.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I am trying to take screen shots as per the instructions but need a signal to get the auto-upload to work so that I can get them from phone onto here.
But, in summary, most of the 25 GB is music (67.9%).
E
Hi. Sorry, but how do I transfer the contents of the SD onto my computer?
I can connect using the cable and then... just drag and drop all the files?
And then... what do I do to wipe it on the phone and restore it?
Told you I was a non-teccie person!
Thanks,
E
Yup just drag and drop. Go to storage and then erase phone storage.

Help - Can i delete "storage\emulated\0\.temp_tmp" ??

Hello,
I have an "lg g3 beat".
after a few months of regular use i got the "insufficient storage available" message.
I tried deleting all my watsapp data all the cache with ccleaner, deleting all apps i can, moving everything i can to the sd card, but still i am only left with 300+ mb of free space. :crying:
I noticed the "misc" is taking 6 gb of the 8 gb i have in the phone. so looking at that i got to the "storage\emulated\0\.temp_tmp" folder on the phone it takes 2.5+ gb of space.
is it safe to delete?
on my galaxy i could go to the secret menu (*#990#) and clear dumpstate, this dosent work here, is there an alternative?
please help me! i am desperate! :crying::crying::crying:
thanks in advance.
no one?
Are u rooted
not rooted, stocked
Of coarse if u root u can. Use a root file explorer to delete it i dont know ure root method i have a reg g3 but shouldnt be hard to find
I am pretty sure i can delete it, since i can access it trough windows explorer.
My question is: what is this folder for, is it something important or is it safe to delete?
thanks for the replay,
If im not mistaken most of its like old log data stuff like thT if ure not rooted u shouldnt be able to delete any thing that would harm the device
move them and see how your phone reacts. if something major happens then move them back.
Im currently having the same issue with storage space yet no one is coming forward with a solution. mine is also stock.
You say these temp files are the cause of the large misc storage problem then Ill do the same and look to delete them.
In my phone they take almost 3 GB of space (from a 8 GB phone) that's a lot!
ill try it in the evening and report back,
thank you
Took me a while to gather up my courage, but finally did it!
No side effects, just free 3 GB of space.
i recommend doing too
