Help - Can i delete "storage\emulated\0\.temp_tmp" ?? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have an "lg g3 beat".
after a few months of regular use i got the "insufficient storage available" message.
I tried deleting all my watsapp data all the cache with ccleaner, deleting all apps i can, moving everything i can to the sd card, but still i am only left with 300+ mb of free space. :crying:
I noticed the "misc" is taking 6 gb of the 8 gb i have in the phone. so looking at that i got to the "storage\emulated\0\.temp_tmp" folder on the phone it takes 2.5+ gb of space.
is it safe to delete?
on my galaxy i could go to the secret menu (*#990#) and clear dumpstate, this dosent work here, is there an alternative?
please help me! i am desperate! :crying::crying::crying:
thanks in advance.

no one?

Are u rooted

not rooted, stocked

Of coarse if u root u can. Use a root file explorer to delete it i dont know ure root method i have a reg g3 but shouldnt be hard to find

I am pretty sure i can delete it, since i can access it trough windows explorer.
My question is: what is this folder for, is it something important or is it safe to delete?
thanks for the replay,

If im not mistaken most of its like old log data stuff like thT if ure not rooted u shouldnt be able to delete any thing that would harm the device

move them and see how your phone reacts. if something major happens then move them back.
Im currently having the same issue with storage space yet no one is coming forward with a solution. mine is also stock.
You say these temp files are the cause of the large misc storage problem then Ill do the same and look to delete them.

In my phone they take almost 3 GB of space (from a 8 GB phone) that's a lot!
ill try it in the evening and report back,
thank you

Took me a while to gather up my courage, but finally did it!
No side effects, just free 3 GB of space.
i recommend doing too

[Q] reclaim disk space

Ok so this sounds strange but I was recently very close to tapped out of space on my 8gig shipped micro sd card.. I recently deleted a movie that I encoded to .mp4 on it.. I used Astro to delete the file which was over 1gigabyte in size.. here is the problem.. file looks like it's gone yet the space was never re allocated to "free space" Any ideas?? Maybe it was flaged hidden? Can someone please help?
Have you tried hooking it up to yuor PC and seeing if the file shows up (you can set to view hidden though i dont think you can hide in astro) this should help you see if the file is acctually gone.
Something else i always forget to do is clear out some old nands as they take up 200ish+ mb each i flasha lot and always forget till i see i am low on space to clean up the folder and get rid of a few old ones.

Yes that's exactly what I tried. I also searched for it. Does Android possibly auto move it to Rom if your copy to SD doesn't have capacity? This is really strange..

[Q] "low storage space" (but actually not?)

When I boot up my phone, the first thing it says that there's not enough space to complete some kind of action(see attached picture below). I have more than 2GB free space on sdcard and almost 6GB free space on external sd, even in file system root I have 1gb/2gb space.
I have cm10.
what does it mean? what does it want? and why does it says that? and what "action" does it talk about??
I wouldnt care if it will be just this message, but since it started this, the phone seems to be more unstable(sometimes it loses wifi/cell signal, have to press lock button 3 times to wake up,and stuff..), so I decided to make a clean reinstall anyway, but it would be great if some of u had any ideas what causes this
I've experienced something similar. I use to mount the storage on my win7 laptop and use to copy/delete files from them. Suddenly it was not letting me copy anymore telling me that the storage is out of space and when i saw it it showed free space which got me confused.
So i went ahead and set windows to show all hidden files and OS files. On the storage there was a "recycle bin" having 1.6 gb of data . I deleted the folder and all was fine.
Maybe your's is a completely different issu,e but you can check for the above.

hm, I set it to show all hidden and "protected os files" (I have windows 8 on my netbook), but no "recycle bin" can be seen.. :S maybe I'm missing some more options to show that, or looking in the wrong place

[Q] Storage Full of "Other"

So I've noticed my storage is full of "other" - as per in the attached screenshot.
How do I find what that is, and do you reckon I can delete it?
It can't be cache stuff, can it?
I reckon it might be a Titanium Back up or a nandroid, but would like to know where to look. I'm back on stock and unrooted, and if this is something I can take off the phone and put on a spare hard drive, that would be great.
Thanks for your help...!
Looks like several people are having this problem?

It could be the pre-installed apps.
When you first bought your HOX, you check your settings and storage, only 2.11GB available on internal storage (apps memory), and more than 25GB available on virtual SD card or phone memory.
Some of the custom roms on rooted HOX has this functionality that we can be able to view the full details of what is consuming our memory.
i use ES file explorer for this it can run an analysis of the sd card and tell what the folders are that take up the most space
u can also analyze a folder instead of sd card to see what map or file takes the most space
u will see if its junk or maybe some old games you dont have installed anymore
and can simply delete them after
Its everything you downloaded, music , folders , pictures etc

No it's not music, folders, pictures. I have same problem and ask HTC for help.
Man you should try to factory reset and clear storage, if that doesnt work and your phone come with used 4gb (like mine), you should send it to service. Already not found any better way to fix it. Sorry if i'm wrong.

I got a reply from HTC this morning that this is what system takes which is a total BS as system is only 1.05 Gb in my case it is /sys folder which is showing to contain nearly a MILLION folders and 500000 (yes five hundred thousand) files.
They really dont know what they are telling.
Odp: [Q] Storage Full of "Other"
I'm now at hospital so cant send it to HTC. But i try send it next week. I tell you what's result. From HTC this is only way to fix it. I'm not expert just saying HTC's solution. Wait, may some one know other solution, i will tell you how it's going next week when get phone from service.

I've got the same problem! Looking inside the phone with a root explorer the amount of all the folders is around 350 mb with a custom rom, all the folder except one ( /sys ). The folder /sys has something wrong cause the explorer just keep saying calculating...
Is there anything we can do to have back all these GB?? Thanks
Have anyone try to factory reset?
I have got this problem too.
I have tried "make more space" by delete apps.
But "Other" is nothing change.:silly:
If you have a backup or migration tool installed check if you have any backups stored and also check the temp files of that backup app.
The othet section is the pre installed apps and the system itself.

I had 9.45GB of storage in "other"
I tried finding what it was taking that much space and discovered nothing in particular.
Some time before, I realized my HTC One Mini 2 was full. I was replacing data to my Ext. SD Card. Then I realized that, no matter what I replaced, the 9.45 GB remained the same/Increased.
I think there is some kind of TEMP file for stuff you deleted/replaced. So you could get it back if you deleted something by accident, because after restarting my phone, only 5.5GB of "other" storage was left.
However, this is still alot of storage, and I can't find what the 5.5GB contains in any file explorer. Does anyone have a clue about how big the OS and Sense layer are? Thanks in advance

[Q] Recovering deleted files

Quick question regarding the possibility of recovering deleted files...
Had a picture on my SD card gallery(where all my pictures are stored) that I wanted to delete, and I decided it would be brilliant to click and hold and delete the "one" picture, when in fact, I decided to delete the entire gallery, some 300+ pictures.
I've been through countless desktop recovery tools, nothing works as it can't "find" the phone, I've tried Dumpster and Undelete 2.0, neither of which worked on my SD card. I took the SD card out of the phone as soon as I realized what had happened, so I haven't done anything that would overwrite them..yet. When viewing the SD card through Windows Explorer, it still shows something like 450MB out of 9GB free, so that makes me believe they are still there, I just can't figure out how to get to them.
Is there ANY way that I can get these files back? I have Wicked_v10 as my ROM.
Please let me know either way so that I can either end this torture, or get the pictures back.
Thank you.
There is a root app called undelete. Not sure if it needs to already be on your phone before you deleted the file. But it may be handy next time

Than you for the suggestion, I will be sure to have a few extra apps next time. I already tried Undelete, but it scanned and then froze the app/phone, so I'm not sure that's an option.

OP3 Open Beta - Storage space taken by invisible files

Hey guys,
Since a few months I've got the issue that the storage space on my phone is taken up by a lot of (or very big) files which I cannot see. Today my phone was full so I deleted all my offline music which gave me like 20GB back, but there's still only 23GB of free space left.
When I go to 'Internal shared storage' the thing that takes up most space is 'Other' which takes up 21.64GB. When I browse all files on my phone through a file explorer, I cannot find anything that could take up more than 21GB. I can't find anything when connected to my laptop either.
I was hoping that it was a bug I read about a long time ago, where a reboot would fix it. But nope.. Rebooting didn't fix anything.
I've got the feeling that my music was copied to my phone more than once, but I have no way of finding out?
Does anybody here know how to fix this by any chance?
Install Es explorer,Run Space analyzer,go to All files section.
You can probably find the missing spaces or who ate them.
Check out dcim/.thumbnails.

That helped! Somehow I couldn't see the TWRP backups through regular file explorer but ES File Manager showed me those files. Got some space back!!
Search & Download : Secure Eraser. It will help to clear unnecessary hidden storage without deleting your personal files
Press Thanks, if i helped u out !!
Use TWRP?
TWRP > restore > select backup -> delete backup
