Hi all,
Back in the old days, I had the wonderfull phone: the HTC desire HD! There I found the best equalizer build-in. Some months after moving to the one v I begon enjoying music. I trieth nearly all eq apps and mods, but I can't reach the quality of srs wow hd. The alternative app with for me the best settings is Dolby Atmos. I'm wondering if there's a way to get srs wow hd to android again? In the files I can find something hidden, but you still need an app to change that values. Is there anybody who can help to get into the 'past'?
By the way, the srs wow hd in my phone was a limited version of srs. It seems like the last 'good' version for mobile devices came from windows phone before android began.
Things that should be done according to me:
- making an app or add settings in settings (lol)
- add in the app or settings the option to switch between boomsound and srs wow hd.
I think it's impossible becouse nobody asks for it, but asking can't be wrong, well?

limited in features at least the last time I tried it. No library function or shuffle.
1.1 is still pretty broken, and most of the good skins aren't for QVGA.
really, the best option is the basic HTC Audio Manager
I use pocketplayer and the HTC player.
I used to only use TCPMP for media but since Nitrogen 1.1, I haven't used anything else. It's quick, extremely responsive, easy to use, and has great features.

I agree, HTC audio manager plays AAC files so that won it for me.
I have been using my Xperia X1 for the last few months, with no problems at all. It is running the 'SEX1' 6.5 ROM (downloaded from here).
I am trying to use the phone as an MP3 player with my headphones. I quite like the default Media Player (using Panels), however the Bass is non-existent. Is there any way I can edit the Registry, or load an 'Audio Manager' as a Cab file?
I have read a couple of posts here, I tried 'CorePlayer' (paid for it & all!) but couldn't get the graphics adjusted how I wanted. I have tried to download 'SRS Wow HD' but kept getting an error message.
All I want is a simple 'Bass Adjustment'. Does anyone have any suggestions?
you could try find a cab for HTC's Audio Booster, or you could find a ROM with it pre-installed, but if you want panels, then you'd probably be better off with a CAB
Solved!! Thank you!
Thanks Johnny4911, I downloaded the HTC Cab, it has made a huge difference. I can adjust all of the graphics and still use the Media Player on the Panels.
I appreciate your advice, simple and effective.
Cheers, Paul.

so, dyou mean, you use Audio Booster ?
I use 862x series ROM. It has pre installed audio booster, but it makes my X1 slower. so, i plan to change ROM with SEX1
Try SRS which I attached.
It works with all roms I had on my Xperia X1, there is an option TruBass which gets a huge amount of bass Also you should try an app called "PocketMusic" which has x-bass option. That combination should satisfied you
Sorry for my english.
Hey guys, I don't know whether ur scared of the topic but no one has found ways to better the sound quality of the phone . Everyone is able to port stuff and create roms but never anything about sound improvement like porting dolby from other android mobile.

Nothing wrong with my Desire, I can make calls just fine thank you!!
I reckon people with issues with the volume are the ones that will suffer from deafness early in life as they probably crank up the volume on all devices
i didnt mean voice calls, i meant when playing music through the ear phones. before u say get better headphones, i got senheissers cx400s. the sound quality is rubbish at best. my n95 and n73 both played music better than the htc phone with the same headphones.
I got to agree on the sound quality issue. The music is just too flat on desire.
I am reconsidering galaxy s and iphone4 due to this...
Hopefully someone can port a better music player or fix the issue soon...

Surely its a hardware limitation.
Aside from putting a better dac in the device (probably impossible) what can be done about sound quality? I don't get how a better music player could help.
You can try with DSP Manager... included in some modded rom... like mine...
music is fine on mine (dsp manager + Sennheiser CX 400 II's)
it was rubbish compared to my ipod shuffle using the same headphones, before using dsp manager
I use mixzing player with equalizer with a custom preset for better quality.
What's dsp manager? How to use it?
yeah what is the dsp manager ive been hearing about

DSP manager is an equalizer built into the ROM. It can have seperate settings for phone speaker, bluetooth and headphones. I used to to take some of the tinniness out of phone speaker. It's in CM6, and probably a lot of other roms too.

Here is a flashable version:

Does anybody know if this could be flashed onto "OpenDesire 4.0.2"?
As I know OD is based on Cyanogen...
Thank you
hey guys, just wanted to know if the dsp manager is anything like the equalizers on mixzing or other music apps for android

Don't know if this can be flashed to OD, but OD is not based on Cyanogen, it is a build from Android source.
DSP manager is brilliant. The compressor pops a bit too much for my liking though.

It's not working for me...
hey guys just wanted to ask if the equalizer is better than the ones found on music apps on market place like mixzing, astro player, etc
Just to let you know...I've flashed it onto OpenDesire 4.04 and it works...
You need the DSP Manager apk, too.
I took the one from this Post: http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7999377&postcount=6
Thanks =)
Thru loud speaker, Desire wasn't really that good. But thru headsets with Mixzing, is quite good.
completely agree. speakers on the phone are horrible. i think im gonna invest in a new pair of earphones. hope i dont get any compatibility issues which bug other users
Hi guys,
I was thinking about, why the hell the music player from Sense 3.0 has problems with the SRS feature.
I love the new player, but without the SRS feature, it's not worth using it. Does anyone know why it is like that and if the stock rom has the same problems?
I mean, even the Dolby Digital feature is gone and the Desire HD has the brand on it. Could it just be a bug in the Custom Roms? When I install a fix.zip which install the old player, SRS works again.
Maybe the path to the features in sense 3.0 is a different one. I would appreciate if someone has a solution for this, because one of the most apps I'm using is the music player.
I wonder, why no one is complaining about that.
By the way, I hope you understand what I mean, I'm not used to write such development things in English
Because the dhd is not mcant to have sense3.
I assume the sense 3 phones (sensation) dont support dolby. Therefore it will not work on dhd without an official updcte from htc (vey doubtful).

Sense 3.0 music with SRS and Dolby
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16171694&postcount=4391
This should work on all Sense3 ROMs. I have tested this on VU, Honey3D and RCMix3D.. and it works perfectly on all..
Gives you sense3 player with SRS and Dolby, as well as Video Player & Streaming Player with SRS and Dolby..
Edit: and that is a reason why no one is complaining..
While browsing through the the default music player I checked on various sound enhancements of my One X, it had the beats and usual presets, but then I noticed that it does not have HTC enhancer (I believe it is called SRS on other phones like on my Desire HD and HD7).
Whats funny is that this preset is present on the default video player (along with the beats preset).
I actually prefer this preset compared to the beats or any other preset and I was wondering if it was possible to enable it on the default audio player or any other 3rd party audio player (currently using Ubermusic).
Headphones
To use the sound presets you have to be using headphones, it should then appear in the settings but probbably only in stock music/video apps. Although once changed should effect every app!
Yeah, I am aware that would be the way to do it, but my question is how to get the HTC SRS enhancer on the default audio player (or any other player) as it is available in the default video player (Why put it in the video player in the first place?).
Im assuming HTC thought people wanted the beats preset over anything else when listening to audio. I would have wanted the choice on using the SRS one as I feel the sound is more clean and surround.

you may need to edit an .apk file in the system and the framework.jar. I know the file is srs_trumedia_51.cfg in /system/ect/soundimage.
It would be awesome if someone did make it work for music.

ty for linking my thread
BassMod is nice but currently only works for the included music app doesn't work with stock but does work well and has the srs thingy bobber.
DSPManager works with both headphones/speakers and with any app, but you don't get srs.
i would try both i'm currently using BassMod to test out.

then you would need to mod the stock music app, it used to have a "htc enhancement" but that seems to be removed.

The code to enable the HTC Enhancer is either in the HtcSoundEnhancerSetting.apk or HtcMusic.apk however I suck at finding things
gonna wait until someone can find the right codes
It really is frustrating that it is available on video players but not on music players. I'll take what I can get, whether it be a music player, equalizer manager or modified apk. It seems I'm not the only one who misses the punch SRS does.
