Using sense with beats plugin (srs enhancement and all that extra options)
Idk but with the roms that include beats plugin, i can't seem to get good quality on poweramp...even when beats is disabled..quality seems to be lowered somehow.
Can someone suggest me a good music player?
When I'm not using sense I use Google Play Music with MusicFX from the market

Here are the list of known music player on the market. There are a lot of comments and critics in the thread.

musicfx doesn't seem to appear in stock music player...maybe because of beats plugin already there.

If you're using ICS it should be in Settings > Sound > Sound > Sound Effects
It's not available for Sense 4, just use Google Play Music and press menu > Sound Effects whilst playing a song
Take a look at PlayerPro. It's a good player with iTunes sync.

Then you're not using the proper headphones...trust me i use in-ear original Beats headphones & Sony MDR EX57 Premium with Beats Audio ROM (stock music player) and i must say it sounds very good
I used Winamp Pro with some eq presets (what can i say...quite nice) and Player Pro with more bass and increased volume (that was a bit irritating for the ear, but at least it was louder)...after that i flashed a custom ROM with Beats plugin...uninstalled the above mentioned apps
My advice is for you try Winamp and Player Pro or try some other headphones

These earphones are worth ~ 80 bucks so i guess they're not that bad but i'll give winamp pro a try...
Just a question from people using sense rom with beats plugin...do you guys get a difference in sound quality when not on a rom with beats plugin because i found out that beats plugin ruin other audio players (though the plugin is disabled in other music players)...
one word POWERAMP
:-D
I use the n7 player from the markede its running smooth
i really like the look of zplayer. its in the metro style from windows phones, and its super slick!
or you should try the cm9 music app
I use Poweramp, the effects selection is the best I've found from any music player. Although it may not look the best, in my opinion it offers the best sound quality and customisation.
Hi all, im listen allot to FLAC music, and as you know the built in music app doest support this format, so i downloaded poweramp from google play and the sound was bad, so i search in the app how to improve the sound and i found an option to enable the beats audio,
Open the app, go to settings>audio engine>advanced tweaks> and unselect "direct volume control" and listen again
P.s sorry about my poor english, i really hope you all understand me.

The built in music app in fact does support FLAC since android 4.0
Why would you use Beats if you're a music enthousiast listening to FLACs?
You found the comprehensive eq in PowerAmp I take it? Always been able to get a decent sound tuned to the headphones I'm using. Beats is just a bass boost from the eighties.
Make sure you don't have the eq AND the tone controls (bass and treble) enabled, else they'll conflict. Chose one or other.

Not sure about the OP, but on my device, Beats and PowerAmp, work right out of the box. The actual setting is only visible when you have a pair of headphones plugged in, then go to Sounds --> Sound Enhancer to select Beats

WOrks samee for me here, too. Can I ask fellow PowerAmp users whether they have sudden dips and peaks in volume when browsing the phone and opening apps? Could you tell me if any advance tweaks you have, buffer size etc?
Thanks
The beats logo is showed from the box, but the sound isn't

Thank you so much for find this and share with us. I loved Beats with the urBeats but now I can have both and PowerAmp with Beats. What a fantastic phone we have . Even the ICS Lockscreen feature does display Album Art on the HTC Lockscreen.
Hey thanks , that correct , now when I turn beats icon on/off can fill more baSS in sound, before this trick was no reaction.

Hmm, haven't noticed that, but in general the handling of notifications is very bad with PowerAmp!
Also, the fading function does not work anymore on One X. I posted about this in their forum and they said it is being looked at and will be fixed in the next update, whenever that is... :-/
I only enable Beats Profile when I need to dislodge ear wax. Otherwise I like being able to make out the words being sung.

Funny you mention this. I started noticing this after upgrading to 1.28
Also, the sudden pause/gap when listening to songs is also there; whether the next song starts (crossfading) or you fast-forward a song.
I think PowerAmp has not been optimized for the HTC One X yet. I hope the team is working on it. I love PowerAmp!

I like that as well. When you select ICS Lockscreen in PowerAmp, it uses the actual HTC music widget on your lockscreen, that is very cool.

I've just noticed that if you change the thread priority to +1 , the dips in volume seem to go away. It's good that they are looking into optimizations tho

FLAC, lossless audio with no drop in quality, used by audiophiles to obtain music in exactly the same sound/quality of the original.
Beats Audio - DSP EQ tuner software to alter the sound of the music, like using a crap DSP effect/EQ on a pc soundcard or ancient 1980's midi system
the 2 don't go together, you may as well use mp3 and save on storage space

doesn't matter, let's music
I love to go to my company with playing music by 1X in my pocket. The quality of lossless music is acceptable
P/s : I'm using Pk2 earphone, not beat

I don't think this is quite accurate, and furthermore do not understand the hate for Beats. I am not a fan by any means, but I really dislike it when people bash something because they read it elsewhere or someone else told them about it.
I am not saying that you are that person, Zombiefly
Reminds me of Windows Vista and people's perpetual dislike for the OS strictly from word of mouth when a lot of the bugs were squashed with SP1 (and subsequent SPs) ... but I digress
If some people like it, let them be. It just seems that every time someone expresses a certain preference for Beats or just ask a question about Beats in general, a lot of people jump on the hate bandwagon while not addressing anyone's questions; worse they say they prefer DSP Manager.
The irony here is that NONE OF THAT MATTERS if these so-called 'purists' are using Poweramp with the DVC option ticked on LOL; they're not even using Beats except for the notification icon haha.
Apologies for the rant - again, it has nothing to do with you specifically Zombiefly, just wanted to get that off my chest.
Errr, I might be being stupid here but where in Poweramp is the Sounds option?! I see the BeatAudio icon at the top when I plug headphones in and play music in Poweramp but turning Beats off or on in the notification bar makes no difference.
I cannot find an option for Beats anywhere in the Poweramp settings.
Thanks.

Beats audio is a system feature not Poweramp. you can toggle it on/off from notification bar

You have to click on 'Settings'
If you have the default three dots button (tap on that)
Click on Settings
Click on Audio Engine
Click on Advanced Tweaks
Disable Volume Control

it does work in other players by default? you should see the beats notification in the notification bar. if disabled it is grey, if enabled its red. i can listen to voicemails with beat enhancements if i really wanted to..
yes, Beats audio is system wide by default, just plug your headphones in, go to settings > sound > sound enhancer and select "Beats"
Beats audio will activate everytime music plays on any media player
Is there any stock/sense rom without this Crappy Beats audio?
I just love the Audio quality im CM10 roms, and can't go back to this horrible beats sound
if I change my rom.
Any thoughts?
I use OrDroidX ROM and just chose not to install the HTC Music Player. I use Google Music instead.
Untick beats and flash the dspmanager zip made, use that to edit the sound to your liking.

When beats is on you can turn it off in notifications then disabled beats notification app by going to settings > apps > all
Find HtcBeatsNotify
Click it and then disabled beats shouldn't ever come back.
dspmanger is the app from cm roms i just pulled the app and files it needs. Not needed but you can get some nice sounds out of it.

Hi,
I really like the HTC Music player and because I'm using the ViperOneM8 ROM, It's skinned with the theme I've applied.
One thing that I've found with the player is that it applies some kind of equalisation to my music, for example listening to music through the Google Music app sounds very different to the HTC Music app. After looking around, I found the HTC Music Enhancer app.
Does anyone is this is the app that is applying the equalisation in the background, and how I can disable it?
Thanks.

Not quite sure. But could be that the HTCMusicEnhancer is actually the Boomsound option in the settings. Try deactivating boomsound while headphones are plugged in and give a short feedback if it worked the way you intended it.
*deleted* wrong info. Sorry!

I have Boomsound disabled, I'm taking about just the HTC Music player, it seems to equalise the music even with Boomsound disabled. Playing it with any other music player with equalizers disabled sound much different to the HTC Music player.
I used Titanium Backup to freeze HTC audio enhancement, but the sound is the same (I think maybe the audio enhancement is for getting album art etc?)
