Hi,
I really like the HTC Music player and because I'm using the ViperOneM8 ROM, It's skinned with the theme I've applied.
One thing that I've found with the player is that it applies some kind of equalisation to my music, for example listening to music through the Google Music app sounds very different to the HTC Music app. After looking around, I found the HTC Music Enhancer app.
Does anyone is this is the app that is applying the equalisation in the background, and how I can disable it?
Thanks.

Not quite sure. But could be that the HTCMusicEnhancer is actually the Boomsound option in the settings. Try deactivating boomsound while headphones are plugged in and give a short feedback if it worked the way you intended it.
*deleted* wrong info. Sorry!

I have Boomsound disabled, I'm taking about just the HTC Music player, it seems to equalise the music even with Boomsound disabled. Playing it with any other music player with equalizers disabled sound much different to the HTC Music player.
I used Titanium Backup to freeze HTC audio enhancement, but the sound is the same (I think maybe the audio enhancement is for getting album art etc?)

I'm having some issues with the stock android music player (+ music mod v1.6), the htc music player and the wired headset. I'm pretty sure I'm not about to describe a very specific set of conditions so hopefullly someone will have a workaround. I have looked around and not found an answer.
I'm running LauncherPro which means from the off, I can't use HTC widgets. I installed MusicMod v1.6 to improve the stock Android music widget. Also, I'm not rooted so that limits the options somewhat.
The problem is this, when I use the headset controls, it plays two instances of a music player - the Android stock and the HTC music player. Is there any way to prevent the HTC music player from being invoked when I use the headset controls?
I'm using Poweramp and it's the best one.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
I'm torn at the moment. At first I really liked Poweramp, mostly because the ability the boost the preamp helped with the low volume problems I was having when listening to it in my car. However, after purchasing Volume+ I found that I no longer need that boost.
Zimly by far has my favorite UI, but I've been getting a lot of crashes on it. I'm also considering bTunes, as the part I miss the most about my iPhone is the media player. I'd be curious to hear if anyone considers that a favorite
I also love Poweramp really much.
Bought it.
It plays my music collection at home, has a great equalizer, and now even supports Beats audio - whaddya want more?
Lol, it supports now beats?!?!?! I used to have it, but then I removed just because of the beats. Stock is good, though.
I use winamp because I'm old school I can't say it's especially different to any of the other players I've used but I stick with it anyway.
For audiobooks I use Mort Player Audiobook, now that is a very impressive app! Pity it looks so ugly but I'm sure it will improve.
I've been using PlayerPro for a while now and really like it.
I have been using Winamp since its release. So far it is a good and simple player. Besides I'm using the desktop Winamp player, which enables me to sync my music via the app wireless.
PlayerPro, because I can browse my music by folders.
I've been using Poweramp for a while and I love it! Its flawless!
Google Music. And I also using unlimited data plan
I'm using stock music app, it's good enough for me

I can't get it to download album artwork, even though the stock music app has done this and it shows in the stock app... Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong with Power amp?
Stock Player and Google Musik is good for me
Stock HTC Music player, because it is the only player that support special audio effect
I don't listen to music so much on the phone. (All the time on the PC!)
However, there are a few listed media apps here in case it helps anyone.

For me, the best one is 3 (Cube):

stock sense 3.0 music player for me. every music player ive used had a problem for me; always automatically playing, skipping, and pausing, when a headphone is jacked in. i uninstalled all other music apps. i only have stock player now. stock palyer aint so bad, the quality of the sound is almost the same as from other music apps.
While browsing through the the default music player I checked on various sound enhancements of my One X, it had the beats and usual presets, but then I noticed that it does not have HTC enhancer (I believe it is called SRS on other phones like on my Desire HD and HD7).
Whats funny is that this preset is present on the default video player (along with the beats preset).
I actually prefer this preset compared to the beats or any other preset and I was wondering if it was possible to enable it on the default audio player or any other 3rd party audio player (currently using Ubermusic).
Headphones
To use the sound presets you have to be using headphones, it should then appear in the settings but probbably only in stock music/video apps. Although once changed should effect every app!
Yeah, I am aware that would be the way to do it, but my question is how to get the HTC SRS enhancer on the default audio player (or any other player) as it is available in the default video player (Why put it in the video player in the first place?).
Im assuming HTC thought people wanted the beats preset over anything else when listening to audio. I would have wanted the choice on using the SRS one as I feel the sound is more clean and surround.

you may need to edit an .apk file in the system and the framework.jar. I know the file is srs_trumedia_51.cfg in /system/ect/soundimage.
It would be awesome if someone did make it work for music.

ty for linking my thread
BassMod is nice but currently only works for the included music app doesn't work with stock but does work well and has the srs thingy bobber.
DSPManager works with both headphones/speakers and with any app, but you don't get srs.
i would try both i'm currently using BassMod to test out.

then you would need to mod the stock music app, it used to have a "htc enhancement" but that seems to be removed.

The code to enable the HTC Enhancer is either in the HtcSoundEnhancerSetting.apk or HtcMusic.apk however I suck at finding things
gonna wait until someone can find the right codes
It really is frustrating that it is available on video players but not on music players. I'll take what I can get, whether it be a music player, equalizer manager or modified apk. It seems I'm not the only one who misses the punch SRS does.
Hi, I really want to download a new music player, because to be honest, I'm getting seriously bored of all the HTC Stock stuff.
Chrome has replaced my browser (Thankgod for Chrome!)
But I cannot find a sufficiant music player, I had heard of Double Twist, but when I downloaded and used it, it pretty much halved the loudness of my music, which defeats the point of 1 - Beats audio technology, and 2 - Using my Beats headphones.
Why is it that using a different music player made my music so quiet?
Is there an alternative?
Can you make double twist louder?
I CHOSE DOUBLETWIST AS THEY OFFER ALBUM ART AND LYRICS !!
Thanks !

You can also use poweramp, n7 or neutron music player... they are good and especially neutron player has lots of options while n7 player ha very good ui
u can download albums in both
I agree that with the free version of DoubleTwist, the music isn't very loud and pretty flat ( I have beats earphones as well).
But once I upgraded it to the next level (the one that provides just the equalizer) and enabled the equalizer, music was much better.
Combine that with Xtreme sound enhancer mod, and it's a killer music player.
I also like PowerAmp, but I've always preferred DoubleTwist's sound quality over it.
I decided to play with the RealPlayer beta, and have actually found it pretty nice.
I also use google music to stream my music. I dont like that app much but it saves memory
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You can use MX player

But can anyone explain to me how to get the most out of my headphones/music, like... how a equalizer works? haha !
Thanks!
Is there any way to get apps like Spotify working in our stock music player app? So we can use the HTC equalizer etc. for that music aswell.

There are plenty of apps out there that give you audio eq everywhere as opposed to just within HTC's player. Seems to me that would be easier than trying to figure out how to pull Spotify through HTC's player.
