My 10 now is starting to drain battery real quick without doing anything. No unusual apps draining much. I used battery tester in the secret testing menu thing and it said my battery is fine but I don't think it is. Any app or something to test battery or any way to test if it's rom related?

Installing GSam battery monitor from the Play store would be a good start. You can monitor wakelocks and app usage, which can help diagnose your issue. How long does your battery usually last after a full charge, and what kind of screen on time are you getting? Also, does the phone ever get warm while you're using it?

Not sure how to read gsam battery logs but here is a screenshot and phone does not get hot. With not much use, I only get from 10am to around 2 to 3pm which is not normal for me.

From the main screen, you should have 4 icons at either the top or bottom of the screen. The second icon from the left brings up the app usage screen, and there is a drop-down menu at the top so you can view different things, like kernel wakelocks, etc.
OK I see but what am I exactly looking for? Wake locks? Not sure what's good and what's bad in terms of %s and what not

Like I said, charge your battery up to full. After a few hours off the charger, post screenshots of the main screen, app usage screen and kernel wakelock screen.
Also, press the triangle icon on the main screen and make sure "Since Last Full Charge" is selected.

I don't see anything out of the ordinary, but that doesn't mean there isn't an issue. There are a couple of things you can try. First, you can try and recalibrate your battery by turning the phone off and holding the power and both volume buttons down for approximately 2 minutes. The phone will cycle on and off a few times, which is normal. You can see how the phone works afterwards, and if that doesn't remedy it, I would RUU and start from scratch.

I've had CM7 on my t989 since the day after alpha 2 came out, and I've never had any serious issues I haven't been able to solve.
I've been trying to track down what's causeing my phone to stay awake, and I can't figure it out at all. In the android battery usage, it shows that my phone is almost always awake when it's sitting in my pocket with nothing running, even after a fresh reboot. No relevant application shows up in either the 'partial wake usage' list or the main android battery usage list.
Is there a way to get more accurate information about partial wake usage or per application usage then I'm aware of? I'm currently using Battery Monitor Widget to figure this stuff out.
I could be an application I have installed that is causing it, but how would it be ducking the android battery usage monitor AND the partial wake usage list?
Anyone else experience something like this?
If you go to Settings, About phone, Battery Usage, what are the top apps?

Try Better Battery Stats. It has really helped me increase my phone's deep sleep.

There are apps there, but they aren't the ones that are draining my battery, considering none of them are the ones keeping my phone awake while the screen is off and it's idle.
There is battery usage going on that isn't listed on the battery usage page, which is why I made the thread.

I've used better battery stats, it exposed the same information that battery monitor widget does, just in a much less user friendly way.
What ever is keeping the wake lock, my phone isn't tracking it, making me think it's something in the OS, not an app I have installed.
I'm willing to bet its something with calls/proximity sensors. Is Android system 2nd on battery usage behind display?

Yeah, android system is almost always second, is there anything I can do to help that besides switch back to a samsung rom?
Is this happening with other people on CM7 alpha with this phone?

It happens on a bunch of phones with cm7. Not just this one. There's really nothing you can do about it. Are you getting that bad of battery life?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Yeah, the battery life is really bad sometimes, but other times it's fine.
So no one knows the cause? It just happens? I'm confident CM9 will fix it, mostly because they have the ground up reword the ROM to make it work.

The times its good is when you don't make many calls? Or your calls or later in the day? What happens is after you make a call there is a partial wake lock triggered by the proximity sensor. Pay attention to that.

Thanks, does restarting after a call solve the partial wake lock?

Hi,
Seems that since 4.0.4 Stock, my phone is awake the majority of the time the screen is off.
I haven't got any apps that can check wakelocks and wondered if anyone can think of anything that will cause the phone to be awake for most of the time the screen is off.
From the battery stat graphs it seems the phone's awake 75% of the time the screen is off.
Battery drain when phone is off seems really high as battery went from 30% to 10% in 8 hours with data off and the phone on 3G
Cheers
Biff.
Post your battery info screenshots.
Use BetterBatteryStats to check whats keeping the phone awake.
Sure thing, whats the best way to attach a screenshot in these forums?
Will give that app a go, thanks

Is wifi turned on? The phone cannot go to sleep if wifi is on.
For some reason my M9 doesn't want to go into deep sleep much. Out of the 1 hour I have it off the charger, only 2 minutes were in deep sleep. I haven't used the phone at all in that 1 hour, so I'm not sure why it wouldn't be sleeping.
Does anyone have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks

Buy, install, do proper settings, put it into monitoring mode.. then switch of screen and go sleep - in the morning see the activities what were happening during the night monitored..

I've used a very similar app. There are no wake locks. All it says is "Android OS" is using 100% of the screen off battery. Even in the normal HTC battery settings, android OS is using 100%. Thanks for the help though.
System Panel is neither similar nor showing you those funny wakelocks..
It thoroughly informs you about CPU usage last night..

Thanks, but all those apps are the same. They can only get a certain amount of info from the core system. There are apps that do the exact same thing for free, which is what I use.
As an update to my problem, rebooting the phone and clearing cache seemed to have solved the issue for now.

If you run out of ideas on how to fix this, I'd say get root, get Xposed, and get Power Nap. Pretty much blocks all wakelocks at night and I see like 1% drain the next morning.

Wait...xposed works on 64bit phones? Wow I've been missing out for nothing lol.
Yes, but make sure you use the xposed arm64 file.
This thread has the stuff
Here's the zip you want xposed-sdk21-arm64.zip
And you also need the alpha installer.
Hi,
My mzp display consumes more battery nowadays.
Anything went wrong? Kindly suggest what needs to be done.

Hi ,
What's SOT means? And what other stats are required?
Screen On Time. Show me a screen shot of the history details. You just click on the battery stats and it'll show the history details.

youre charging your phone lol... You have to show everyone a clear battery cycle. Meaning charge your phone all the way to 100 until a low percentage. Then take a screen shot. Show us the SOT and the history details. I'm guessing you have a lot of wakelocks.

Okay will take a SS n post my usage. I have not enabled any wakelocks to any app. Any way to find that?
I had a recent issue with battery drain as well. Read in 1 of the threads that it could be due to using Magisk and activating Magisk hide. Not sure if you're rooted but if so, and you use Magisk, you might want to see if that is your culprit.
In the ss the second most consuming thing is android system. Used to go to sleep and wake up with the same % but now it consumes 1-2 % at night. And that is only because of Android system that appeared a couple of weeks ago. Except from cleaning cache there is nothing else on the web , only a software reset. Anyone else with high Android system consumption?
What app do y'all use to register Screen on Time? I normally use GSam but haven't been using it because I can't get the persistent battery % to not display on the notification area. It's like it's not turning off so I just don't use that app. I'd be interested to hear what some of you are using to see your screen on time.

It's been a couple of years since I rooted my phone and forgot I had purchased the premium version of EXKM. I downloaded it and figured if it lacks features if you're not rooted. Is this true? Maybe I'm not reading EXKM or the stock battery monitor correctly but I don't see a normal screen on time. In the stock app, would that be Screen usage since full charge? I want to make sure that would be the same as screen on time.
Thanks for your reply.
I see how the battery app and EXKM shows the screen on time but it seems pretty confusing. With my attached screenshot it shows that I have 7h 27m with 50%, but I've charged it over that time frame. I'm assuming the only way you can truly measure screen on time is by not charging from 100% until right before you charge it. If someone could clarify this and please correct me in my thinking if I'm misunderstanding how it's calculated or read.

Its just calculates the total SOT you have
If you want to measure sot after you have charged to certain % then hit the menu button 3 dots in upper right corner and you'll get the options
Cheers ?

Thanks for the screenshot. I would've been looking in the app for that toggle and would've not thought to look in the system portion of it. That worked though!
