How to delete extra lock screen? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I seem to have more than one lock screen. Is this possible? Originally I used Apex launcher and set different lockscreen wallpaper, to the wallpaper on the home screen, using this. Now I am using Nova Launcher and I have a another lockscreen, but I still have the original one and would like to delete this. Any suggestions please?

I think it should be as simple as uninstalling one if your launchers , if that doesn't work then make sure you only have one of the launchers mentioned in your post and clear the default settings for it via the app settings... Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't clear the problem

Apex Launcher

Hi all,
How many of you here are using Apex Launcher/Pro on your HOX?
How do you find it? I like Sense but I'm thinking of fiddling with a different launcher.
Does Apex LAuncher allow Landscape Home Screens?
If I don't like it I can just uninstall it right? Also I'm guessing I don't need to be r00ted to use the launcher...
Thanks all,
T-L-H

Thanks for that, I've installed it, seems okay...
Still no Landscape though, I'm guessing that's something to do with the rosie?

It does have landscape support - you have to go: Apex Settings - Behaviour Settings - Screen Orientation - Auto-rotate.

How exactly does this work then? Does it take over the sense totally? IE... When I turn my phone on I am booted in to this and when I lock it etc.. etc.. or do I have to open it each time I want to use it?
Sorry to sound a little dumb on this but I am a complete newby to android.

You can choose a default launcher to choose from. I've just chosen Apex Launcher... I still have the standard lockring on my lockscreen...
You can reset the default launcher in Apex Launcher settings. I'm still kinda new to this myself so I'm not too sure on all the in's-and-out's.

Okay so when you turn the phone on its the standard lockscreen, you move that and it opens directly into Apex Launcher as if Sense never existed? Sounds like something fun to mess around with.
I'm guessing it can't do any damage to the phone or the standard OS etc... then?

That's correct, it's all the same... just a different launcher.
The stock launcher is all intact, Apex doesn't overwrite anything, it's just an App really.

All makes perfect sense...
and +1 to Apex Launcher. I tried them all this past week and I just liked Apex better. I am sure they all do similar things, with a couple of things different. I purchased the Pro version of Apex.
Not sure if I can make the lock screen like my Apex home screen. I am still learning (time dependant), do very much like it though. Even my iPhone work mates seem impressed
I have been using Apex since Friday. I liked it so much I ended up paying for it.
Im not sure how many more features were enabled but I thought it would be the least I could do.
Main reason for switching. Laggy Home screen swithching in sense.
I have widgets on every screen now and its flawless!
Apex Launcher Pro consumes a lot of battery on my HOX 1.28
I back to Sense 4 and prefer Nova Launcher

When playing with various launchers, your battery may drain very fast because of the widgets you have running on the screens of the inactive launcher.
If you try Apex, it's a good idea to remove all widgets from your Sense screens first.

I switch off, all the widgets from Sense4 before try Apex
And reboot the terminal.
apex user here also. loving it. it's just smooth and full of features.
That's good to know, I'll remove my widgets from my Sense 4.0 Launcher and then boot back into Apex Launcher.
I'm also running GO Locker, GO Launcher EX with the ICS GO Locker Lock ring...
Sometimes when I power the screen back on I get the Sense 4.0 lock ring, so I unlock to homescreen then the ICS GO Locker ring will appear, so I have to unlock that one too! So I'm unlocking with two rings wtf?
I use Apex too and also bought the Pro version in supprot of the devs coz I liked it so much. I'm not even sure what the advantages are for Pro version. Hehehehe...

Blinkfeed widget?

Is there a way someone could make a blinkfeed widget so we can still have it on like nova or apex launcher?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you need the Sense launcher to run Sense widgets due to them needing HTC's framework.
Maybe the flipboard widget is an alternative?
Blink Feed is basically an amalgam of Flipboard and Pulse. Though I find Pulse's layout easier to digest, their widgets leave a lot to be desired. Amy suggestions on alternatives for third party launchers?

Nova Launcher
I am a bit stuck on this too. I really prefer the Apex Launcher but I am liking blinkfeed as well... I am hoping someone can find a way to make them play nice together...
MG
I don't understand why this can't be done.
all we need is a shortcut to the feed. in theory, even with nova Orr similar running, blink feed is still doing its thing in the background, we just can't get to it.
I'm sure some one like nova could do:
say you have 3 home screens set, instead of infinite scroll,
you could have the left most side of home screen one set as a shortcut.
I then you could set the short cut to blink feed (or anything else you might want to use)
it would be pretty much the same as we have but with a custom launcher.
does that make sense?
this is already possible with thde MoDaCo tool kit. check out 3:16 on this video

I use adw and make a custom shortcut for the HTC launcher. I delete all screens with only blink.

Best solution out there. I too love Blinkfeed, but prefer other launchers over the Sense launcher, mainly for things like custom grid sizes and being able to feed my addiction on mycolorscreen.com.
Incidentally, I use Nova and a custom shortcut - same thing.

Why is this so hard?

I have a rooted galaxy s4, and I use Nova launcher pro. I have a theme that I really like, and when I go set my wallpaper, I can choose wallpapers from my themes. The theme I use is by Kovdev, all his work is awesome.
However, that's only the homescreen, I cannot for the life of me find a way to set a wallpaper that comes with a theme as my lockscreen. I know there must be something easy that I'm just missing
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Go to settings, my device, display, then wallpaper and you should be good to go bro

because usually the wallpaper you see in theme screenshots dont come with the theme. they are the authors personal wallpapers. there are exceptions, but not many
No.. What I'm saying is the theme comes with those wallpapers, when I just change the homescreen by long pressing and hitting wallpaper, I can choose from the theme. But I have no option for the lockscreen when I do that

Change wall paper on lock screen is the default TW launcher option.
you can do it from the stock launcher (don't know if wallpaper from Nova launcher will show up or not). If that's the case just save the wall paper to your gallery and chose from there. After you're done you can set Nova as default launcher again.
Use a root explorer and find the theme .apk in /data/app. Copy and paste the .apk somewhere else on your phone, unzip the .apk, find the folder the houses the wallpaper and pull out the wallpaper you want

[Q] Stock app icons replaced with bugdroid.

Just updated to 4.4.2, wiped, and then installed google now launcher but I'm having a weird issue. A couple of LG apps like email and weather have had their icons replaced with a bugdroid icon. Mind you, this is only when I'm using Google now launcher. When I'm using the stock one, the icons are normal. Anyone know what's up with that?

Me too - I'm on the stock rooted UK 4.4 ROM. I installed Nova Launcher & the aforementioned icons are generic. The same happens with Apex Launcher. I tried deleting the icon cache in Nova Launcher under Lab Settings but nothing happened. If I try to edit the shortcuts on the desktop the relevant app icons are blank.
The icons look fine when using the stock launcher.
On holo launcher it lets me edit the icons of items in the dock and on the home page.
Rather than choosing a different image for an item, I can also choose "default icon".
This fixes the icons, but only on the home page and in the dock, not in the app drawer.

Not with Nova Launcher
Anyone have a theory as to why this is happening on third-party launchers?
I've emailed the Nova Launcher dev & will see if he replies
The dev wasn't able to help. Is there a way to extract the stock app icons from the ROM as image files and then we could edit the shortcuts?

In Holo launcher I can simply select the icons on the home page and change the images.
When changing I get the option of using a custom image, or use default.
When I select default, the icon works again.
However this fix only works on the home screen, not in the app drawer.
I know this thread is a little old but I just upgraded to KK and was wondering if anyone figured out how to fix this?

Wallpaper for lock screen

hello everyone, how to change the wallpaper for the lock screen under Nougat?
I use Nova for launcher.
Envoyé de mon Nexus 5X en utilisant Tapatalk
Settings --> Display --> Wallpaper, and then pick Google Now Launcher even though you use Nova (I use Nova as well). When you select your pic, you will be prompted for lockscreen vs. homescreen vs. both. Pick lockscreen.
Nova will still be your launcher and everything will be the same, except you will now have separate wallpaper for your lockscreen.
Thank you

Do you know a way of clearing the lock sreen wallpaper. I have already set one with this method and now if I want the wallpaper to be the same on both home screen and lock screen, There doesn't seem to be any other choice but to do it this way again. I use Nova as well and now changing the wallpaper with Nova only changes the home screen. I would like to go back to being able to use nova to change both so I don't have to dive into the settings

My point was that if you set it with the Google now launcher once, you pretty much have to keep using the Google now launcher option. Unless you want your lock screen and home screen to be different

This is one of those magical opportunities where you can figure it out and share with the community. Or you can use the method I suggested which is only one additional step. Or you can use Action Launcher which natively allows you to select where to set the wallpaper.

Which is all good. I already knew how to set the lock screen wallpaper. Just wondering if there was a way to unset it so you didn't have to go through different launchers to do it. Guess it either hasn't been found or there's no current way. Maybe Nova just needs to be updated for that. Either way, If I find a way, I'll report back.

That's what I am thinking. The method I posted re: setting the lockscreen wallpaper really shouldn't be necessary -- you should be able to do it all from Nova.

It seems like you have a misconception as to "setting" a wallpaper. Once you set it, you can't "unset" it, you can only change it to something else. If you have set the lockscreen wallpaper to something, you would need to replace it with a different one in order for it to change, the device keeps no record of what wallpaper you had set before. It's just like Nova launcher, you can't just press "unset wallpaper" to go back to what you had before, you have to change it to a new one.
Stock android doesn't come with a lockscreen wallpaper option, so you have to "trick" it by changing the wallpaper on the stock launcher.

Correct. but I think that is probably the only way to convey what he is trying to say. On a completely fresh install of the OS and Nova, seeing the wallpaper (with Nova) changes both the lockscreen and homescreen wallpapers. If you use GNL to change them independently then from then on Nova only changes the homescreen wallpaper. So the question is out should be: How does one reset Nova's default handling of wallpapers?
