I've got an OP3 that had MM in it (RROS). I started to have issues with the internal memory telling me whenever I tried to copy something from the internal memory or copy something into the internal memory, telling me that the device connection was lost and it was unable to proceed the copying process. I then managed to extract everything that matters to me from the phone with a simple WiFi FTP app. After that, I thought that I'd simply factory reset the phone and restore it back. After factory reset, I got the 6.0 back up and running, but as I tried to move things back to the internal memory with the stock OP3 USB cable (Win 7), the same issue did arise; while copying larger files to internal memory the connection is lost.
After that I thought that maybe wiping the whole data incl. system would do the trick. That was a bad idea, as now I have only my recovery and although the internal memory mounts when I boot up the recovery, I still can't copy larger files to it, say a new ROM for example. Therefore I currently have a paperweight in my hands and no phone. Any hints on how to solve this issue?
Are there any reports regarding bad internal memories on these phones?

Try a different USB driver. My phone had that exact issue but windows 10 auto updated the driver to smt else and my phone has worked ever since. Also your USB-C port might be dirty. I was having connection problems and sometimes when I moved my phone, I'd loose connection so I cleaned the hell out of my port and i stopped having those issues
Oh this problem sounds really familiar but not with my phone. I have never faced it on Windows 10 but I had back in the days of Win 7. Would you mind trying ADB instead of FTP? "adb push filename directory" to 'push' a file "adb pull filename directory" to pull a file from your phone. You can watch a tutorial if you want.
Thanks for the both of you for contributing to my issue. I managed to move a new Custom ROM into the internal memory with a simple USB OTG tool and a 16 GB USB memory stick. Now I've got a 7.1.1 but I might go back to 6.0 today, as I don't like the behaviour of the 7.1.1 at all.
But back to the main issue. I tested the phone in another laptop, and it worked just fine there. I then tested the phone in my laptop, in another USB port... Well what do you know, it works again just fine, so the problem seems to be in the other USB port... :silly: One should test the simplest solutions first before posting.
change the file extension to like .jpg then change it back to what it was once you have moved the file

Good Day All.
I'd like to share a weird problem that I've encountered today.
I have a Lt26 running .55 firmware stock, and my OS is Windows 8 Pro 64bit.
Now what happened today was I plugged my phone in my PC via USB, the "Xperia“ icon appeared in My Computer, under removable devices. I clicked on it, it will show Internal Storage (Contents on my phone)
Until this stage, everything was fine. I then went into my phone's internal storage to look for a mp3 file, but ended up finding an empty folder called "sdcard". Now the strange part comes, I've never seen this folder, and it appeared in my internal storage's root folder. I went into this folder, there was an empty folder called "Screenshot".
Bear in mind at this time there are 11GB of files on my phone. And all other files are presence on my internal storage, all was normal.
I made a bad decision to delete that empty folder, by pressing Shift + Del. Bad choice, my Explorer process got stuck, so I had to force close it. Then I pulled out my USB cable....
Now when I plug in my phone again, the internal storage shows that I have 25 GB of space available, but when I goto the root folder of the internal storage. I can see ALL THE FILES ARE STILL THERE, WITH CORRECT FILE SIZES. But if I unplug the usb cable, and open Root Explorer on my phone, the SDcard folder now has nothing in it, completely wiped. And the total available space now shows as "25GB" (Which is the full space)
I can only see those files on my PC. But when I try to copy them out of the phone, Windows tells me "Unspecified Error". I looked up for the meaning of that error code - Access Denied.
I have tried to mount Internal Storage as SD card using SD Mounter V2.0. Then used some recovering software to scan for files on that drive. I manage to recover 9000 files with a file size of 32kb only. Interesting enough, I can not copy anything back to the internal storage anymore.
I suspect that I might accidentally deleted the file index. As I've never seen that folder before.
MY QUESTION is. Are those data still there on my phone? Should I just give up trying to recover those files and clear internal storage within my phone's option?
Many thanks.
Use sony pc companion and try to back up everything on ur computer.
After that format ur cell.
Thn restore ur backup.
If the files are available it should help
Or else no way out.
Press thanks if helpful!

Hi there. I tried your method, and unfortunately the files can not be recovered this way. PC companion "having error trying to copy files". So I used Final Data and recovered about 70% of my stuff.
Thanks again for the input.

That's exactly what happened to me (deleted sdcard folder inside internal storage, etc, pc companion has errors trying to copy files). So I'm pretty much in the same situation now. Did Final Data really solved your problem? Where can I get it? Do you know any other software that might do it?
Thanks

Firstly, you can google around Final Data. Or try using Recuva. They both work, but I'd say Final Data works much better. I managed to recover 29G of stuff (Most of them are not working) from both softwares.
To get Final Data recognize your phone's internal storage, you must remember to use SD Mounter by Soheli (I used V2.0). It's in the same forum, maybe you should look for it. Sorry I don't have the link anymore.
DO NOT TRY TO COPY ANYTHING INTO YOUR PHONE AT THIS STAGE (Except for SD Mounter Maybe). Mount your Internal Storage as Mass Storage after you installed the apk file. Your PC should recognize the drive as a "Removable Drive", then open Recuva or Final Data, do a deep scan (It took me a whole night just to scan through 11GB of files, another 3 hours to recover the files).
Good Luck. I recovered 70% of my stuff with this method.
Can somebody explain what that SDCARD folder actually is?

Ok, I was able to do it. Having stock ICS without root and bootloader locked, I had to get root to try the sd card mount and recover data.
Luckily, I found Bin4ry's root method for Xperia S: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 . It worked as a charm, and now I have root in stock ICS (without unlocking bootloader).
After, I follow your comments, installed SD Mounter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744878 , mounted the Internal Storage as SD Card and was able to run the PhotoRec and recovered almost all pictures (without the correct name). Couldn't use Final Data and Recuva only found 5% of the photos.
You can recover data from android phone internal storage, see this solution: recover data from android phone internal memory
hope this helps.
so, I've encountered problems transferring files to the removable sd card, when i try to copy something it indeterminately sits on "discovering" and in the mean time it crashes explorer ( not internet explorer) and also the phone completely freezes and has to be restarted. same happens when i try deleting stuff out of the sd card from windows and mac as well.
the same does not happens to the internal memory. And so far this is what i have done to see if it fixes the problem:
tried a couple different sd cards- did not work (was able to get rid of some files, but then it just went back to do the same)
tried it on mac os and windows, same thing, it crashes finder/explorer.
so i was thinking, could be related to anything software? or maybe my sd card slot is shot? the computers and the phone itself recognizes the sd card no problem, so that's why i think it might be software related.
Anyhow, so i was wondering if anyone could shed some light my way ? :good:
thanks alot!
EDIT: if i reboot to the recovery and mount from there it seems to work and transfer files with no problem whatsoever....
Have you tried changing the connection to MTP?

that seems to work too!!! awesome, i was getting worried my brand new gs2 had sd slot problems.
edit: no never mind, now it says something along the lines of windows cannot identify the device connected.
So been trying to work out this issue for past couple of days now. Galaxy W (obviously) PACman rom.
Updated to the latest version of rom, all fine but didn't go pristine. Eventually had some issues, biggest of which being I couldn't access internal SD card as storage, yet all my apps were working fine. So, tried again, went pristine, all fine for about a day, no issues whatsoever .... until dreaded internal sd unmounted. Tried again, pristine, double formatting everything and double clearing cache etc. No problems. Updated kernel to skull kernal to fix the bluetooth. No problems.
And now again, it's happened. I've tried to keep a mental correlation in what I'm doing to hopefully give me an idea of what's going on but not having much luck; hoping someone here knows what this issue is as it's driving me mad
I've changed my name in Google; could it be some sort of permissions thing?
USB; phone set to Media player, it might be it's happening after I've transferred but since everything is working fine, it's hard to tell
I've not restored anything, gone completly pristine (took hours) in an attempt to retrace my steps and not get this issue again. Part of me thinks I may as well just leave it as everything works, I can even install fine. But I can't browse it via any file manager or via USB, and a couple of programs I use (CoPilot for one) won't start properly because there is no SD card mounted.
Things I've tried -
CWM, fix permissions
Reboot
Checked Storage under settings, I can see how much free space there is etc.
Enabled and Disabled USB Debugging and tried to see it on my PC (nothing, external shows up fine)
Anything else anyone can think of before I wipe the lot and try again for a 4th time?

No idea why it's doing it, but yeah, seems to be the USB transfer. Problem solved.
So changed USB from Media Player to MTP and back again while connected to PC, internal storage now available.
Always the way, struggled with it for a few days, finally decide to post for help, and I solve it in less than 10 minutes of making the post :silly:
Knowing my luck, it's a known bug I've somehow glossed over in all information!
Edit - spoke too soon
After a reboot, same again. Everything "works", I can install and uninstall, but I can't browse the internal sdcard0 with a file manager or via PC. The above trick isn't working now.

Just thought I'd give it one last bump. Situation is that after every reboot, my internal sdcard is not mounted. I have to connect the phone to a PC via USB, then disconnect and hope that the phone mounts both sdcards. Usually works first time but sometimes I have to connect - disconnect 2-3 times before the internal card is mounted.
Anyone happen to know how to mount the internal card via command line? I could then workaround it with a script via smanager.

Ok well first hello this is my first thread!
I'm having problems transfering files to my S4 (M919) on both internal and external SD, the issue is when im transfering files bigger than 1GB just before it finishes I get the messeage "the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected", I looked for someone with a similar problem here in the forums and found that maybe enabling mass storage instead of MTP could solve this and it didn't work, I was trying to copy a 4.3GB file to my external sd in mass storage mode and now a message pops up saying that theres not enough space and file cannot be copied when there is 29.3GB free on the SD and only reads my external and not the internal memory can someone please help I'm getting tired of this I can't even copy a file to my phone, thanks.
Also the phone is rooted with clockwork touch 6.0.3.2, I have tried different USB ports and different computers and its all the same.

I assume you're using the cable that came with the phone? I only ask because I can't transfer a TouchWiz ROM with any other cable than the stock one; I'll get the same error as you. Also, I don't know if you're keeping the screen on during transfer, but try that as well.

Yes I'm using stock cable and the same thing keeps happening just 5 seconds before finishing the transfer, and yes keeping the screen on and it doesn't make a difference.
Hi everyone !
Yesterday, I tried to install a new ROM (RR Android 7.1, the latest version).
I flashed the ROM with Gapps and rebooted the phone: I know the first boot is usually a bit long (15-20min according to my previous experience) but after 1h and no evolution, I decided to let the phone boot overnight.
This morning, it was still booting and when I plugged it to my PC and tried to transfer another ROM (to try again), it was no longer recognized ("the device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected")...
I also tried to plug the micro-SD card directly to my PC, it's not even recognized (nothing appears in the Computer window after being plugged, just the connect sound).
Drivers have been checked already.
So, basically, I have a OS-less phone that cannot receive any file from USB (mounted or not, MTP activated or not)
I still have access to Bootloader menu and Recovery.
Does anyone have an idea I haven't tried yet ? :fingers-crossed:
It's not bricked by any stretch.
First of all, you should have made a TWRP backup before trying to flash a ROM. You should always do this before a new ROM, root, or other mods; just a simple and golden "phone modding" rule to live by; so I don't know why so many folks neglect this step. If you had a TWRP backup, you could simply restore, have a working phone OS, and go from there.
When trying to read the MicroSD card, does you computer have a card reader built-in, or are you using a USB card reader? If the latter, try another, if you have one. They can be finicky, especially the cheap ones. You can even use an old working phone as an impromptu "card reader" in a pinch (I've done it a few times).
When connecting the phone to your PC, are you booted to TWRP when trying to copy/paste a new ROM? Can you connect by adb when in TWRP (you typically should be able to). If so, you can try to adb push a ROM, or alternately adb sideload a ROM.
Also, just FYI, if the phone is stuck for more than 10 or 15 minutes with no response after a ROM flash, you can conclude something is wrong, and go back into recovery, re-flash, try another gapps package (frequent cause of stuck boots after flashing an AOSP ROM in my experience), etc.
Thanks for the reply ! That'll teach me a lesson...
The SD card reader is built-in to my PC.
I'm always booted to TWRP when connecting my phone, just tried the ADB Sideload command but nothing happens (except FAIL). Is there something I'm missing ?
Try to reinstall HTC drivers, and whatever adb/fastboot tools you are using. Try another USB port, and another cable.
Don't see anything that should prevent adb or just seeing internal storage from working. Usually just a case of drivers, etc.
Another thing you can try, assuming you are using Windows, go into Device Manager, find the device, and pick the option to manually select drivers. Then pick the generic Android MTP drivers. I sometimes have to do this to get my home PC to "see" the M8 on adb or to browse internal storage.

By the way, when not mounted. The phone DOES appear in "Computer" window but can't trasnfer anything in "Internal Storage" and my SD card shows up as a ~16Mb storage capacity while it's a 64Gb model...

Internal storage not showing anything, may indicate the storage is corrupted. Try going into TWRP, select Wipe, and tap the "Format data" button; and see if that helps. Obviously, any data will be lost during the format, but I think we're past that point anyway.
Although this wouldn't explain why you can't see anything on the SD card. Internal storage corruption happens fairly occasionally. But I've never seen it coincide with SD corruption/issues. So that part has me puzzled.
