Hi guys,
I am not a developper, but I just saw a review of the new blackberry phone and it had a button you could map to open any app on the phone.
I wandered if it was possible to do it with the oneplus 3 alarm slider.
I saw that there was a couple of xposed module that gave you more options like put the phone on airplane mode, ... but xposed is not avaliable on nougat yet and I was thinking of a more customizable option
Does anyone know if it is possible, if it already exists (might have missed it) or if i have to start learning to code

It's possible and the app that does this already exists: "Notification slider" on Play Store.
You'll need root and kernel set to permissive. Everything you need to know is provided when you launch the app.

Hi,
Thank yuo for your fast reply
I saw that app prior to posting my question. but this app only remaps the alarm slider to other certain actions set by the developer.
i was looking for the same app exept that i could chose any app to map to any position of the slider
plus it says thet to unlock all the feature i need xposed

The app does allow you to launch any app of your choice (and multiple other options) with the slider.
Xposed is only for Marshmallow, on Nougat it works without Xposed, but needs permissive kernel as a workaround.
See second option on my screenshot:

Weird ... The app should inform you about kernel having to be permissive at launch. And it provides a few links to guides on how to do it. Anyways, you can just Google it or get another app that sets the kernel to permissive.
... A minute later ...
I've just realized that I'm an idiot ... It seems that it doesn't works very well on OOS Nougat. I'm running LineageOS currently (works perfectly here), completely forgot about that, sorry.

I like the icon in the OP
This is what I read about App Ops:
"Some apps don't show all their required permissions until we use them. For instance with Bump app the authorizations for "vibrate mode" and "Send notification" only appear when we open the app and try to send something."
I don't have 4.3 atm so could u please confirm? It seems very strange to have a security app wich works like that...
Good one ! Thanks .try to change icon or pit in settings if you can

yes, and you can try "App Ops Launcher" on play store to launch the "App ops" on android 4.3, it is just only 7kb.
it is coming with the next update? i mean official yet?
A new way for end users to break apps...a developers nightmare come true. While I like the idea of this it is too easy for users to switch off permissions, forget they did it, app appears broken and the developer must waste time supporting a non-issue.
This is aimed at the functionality Google has added to 4.3 not the OP's shortcut app.

The situation wouldn't be the current one if some developpers don't use useless permissions. Have a look at Facebook's permissions...
The user has to know what he does before criticizing an app that seems to not work properly.

If used properly this is an awesome addition, the problem is what I stated above will indeed happen.
Example being a wallpaper app (we will call it wall-e) shouldn't be able to read contacts if it can't set contact images, in this example disabling this ability is warrented. But perhaps you didn't know this particular wallpaper app can set contact images, you disable this permisssion. Weeks later your changing John Doe's image to find wall-e in the list with gallery, you think cool I can use wall-e to change John's image so you select wall-e and bam...force close. You think the app is broken, send bug report, the developer reads the crashlog and tries for hours to find out why on this particular device setting a contact image causes a crash.
This is a general example, it gets worse as most users have no idea what permissions are really necessary for Android applications basic functionality.
Then it gets much worse, this is one user...imagine all the millions of users using hundreds of thousands of apps once 4.3 is mainstream like 4.2.
Please try this "App ops launcher", it is only 7kb, scan this and install on your device to have a try.
cheers :good: will it also work on jb4.1.2?

2. Xposed needs root

I'm UB but I also have the same problem. Does it work for me?
So we need partial root because thats all we Lb have on 4.3?
Great work again, monx! :good:
The Xposed was the only reason to keep my BL unlocked! Now it's time to relock with backed up original TA partition. Thanks!
xposed fan pls recommend/suggest any good module(s) that worth for our device. I will list them in OP. so far Gravity box is outstanding.
Graqvity Box - full moding of ROM! Navbar, statusbar, and many more cool things!
What are the differences with this installer and Rovo89's original? The original worked just fine, so I'm curious what is different here (other than making a recovery installer with the bridge included, of course).
Anyhoo, Gravitybox is great and is the best multi-module around although XBlast is pretty good too I like Wanam on my Sammy devices, but no joy on the Xperia.
The best module, IMO, is AppSettings and it is the main reason I root and run Xposed in the first place. Think basic Paranoid Android per-app DPI settings, but on any rooted device. I have Nova Launcher set at 420 and Gmail and touchdown at 370. The Z1's screen density allows for some really tiny text.
NFC Icon Remover doesn't work on our phones since it was made for HTC devices. If anyone knows how to get rid the icon, I'm all ears.
20MP Superior Auto - Forces the camera to use 20MP size for pictures instead of just 8MP.
Alternate App Picker - I always found it annoying that Google changed the app picker to make you press the app, then press 'always' or 'just once'. This puts it back how it was in ICS where you simply tap the app you want to use.
App Settings - Paranoid Android style app settings for controlling DPI per app.
Gravity Box - This just wonderful. It does a ton of stuff. Everyone should be using this.
Hide Stamina Mode Icon - That icon takes up valuable space in the notification bar. This removes it.
Music2SD - Lets Google Music store files on the external SD card.
XPrivacy - needed for those of us with tin foil hats.
XVolume30 - Adds additional steps to the media volume to fine tune the sound.
Xperia QuickSettings LongClick - Lets you jump right to the proper settings menu by long pressing any of the quick settings.
XPosed Recent Tasks - Shows a graphic RAM bar on screen in the recent window.
YouTube Ad Away - Gets rid of video ads in videos. Can also hide channel logos and video suggestions.

U need custom mod rom which has recovery pre-installed. eg : this for LOCKED BOOTLOADER
For unlocked bootloader, u dont need the package form this thread.
** This app will only work on ROOTED Stock Android 4.1+ or AOSP ROMS **
** Xposed framework is required http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 **
Ussd blocker will block the annoying USSD balance update popups that come up on your phone, each time you make a call or change data connectivity. This app is like a silent inbox for all your USSD popup messages.
Two main reasons to use this app:
- No usage popups especially when you don't have the time to read them, e.g after ending a call or unlocking your phone.
- USSD messages are lost once you dismiss them. So, if you are on a prepaid connection and want to know when and how you lost your balance, you can get it from your history of usage update messages in this app.
Installation:
- If you are rooted, install Xposed framework from here http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk and reboot your device.
- After installing the app, enable the Ussd Blocker Xposed module and reboot

Not Working!! (UI Force Closes)
This is really a nice concept for a module and I would like to thank you for your efforts. But there seems to be a problem as when I installed this module on my "SONY Xperia U with a stock based ROM" the module just force closes. The UI does not opens up.Kindly look into the matter and try to resolve it for me.
Also I would like to request a feature, an option to select which USSD messages to block. For example most people don't mind the after call notification.
Thank you.

First of all I don't own a magic device however I use the magic firmware on my Honor 8 so I can't cover up all info about magic usage but most of them.
So Q/A
I can't install third party launchers, why?
Because huawei blocked this on this firmware. To install third party launchers you'll need root.
So I got a launcher installed. But I can't see any widgets?
Open /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml and find there will be a # before it which disables the feature. Just remove it and reboot.
Why doesn't notifications work?
By default third party apps gets disabled notifications (idk why) go to notifications and enable them for your new installed apps.
I can't see nfc option?
This is due to being disabled in earlier builds. However B536.1 evaluation versions brings nfc settings.
Some options are still in Chinese why?
They have informed you that the English language is still in beta (unfinished) this we might be able to fix with overlays.
More will come.

Hi There,
Magic phone is indeed magic like, feels really great and looks beautiful, very smooth feel in hand.
Needed few tips and tricks to make more use of it.
Are these possible without root, if rooted office email app will be blocked
1) How to install launcher as system app, Please pls guide. I'm dying to install Neon, Zero.
2) How to install Ultra battery mode? - it is present in Honor 6 and it's awesome!
3) Is it possible to reduce resolution - Screen power saving - like Honor 6, saves battery during night and driving
4) Possible to change keyboard during typing? Popups doesn't show in notification shade, it's painful to go to settings n change every time
TIA.
Tnx,

1. Without root is not possible to install any 3rd party launcher except google launcher.
2. Do you mean the ultrabattery launcher which comes with huawei? If so it could be possible.
3. Resolution i doubt without root, and no idea about that feature.
4. We'll if you don't use navigation bar no, if you do it might work. Can't tell since I don't use that firmware atm but I never saw any fast switch for keyboard

The last Magisk module I had that could change the height caused boot loops since 12.1, but even before then messing around with those settings could cause them. Google really doesn't want anyone messing with status bar on this phone apparently.
You can use this Magisk Modul for a rooted phone https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/G-VisualMod . After installation you have to activate the notch killer profile in the systems settings in developer mode section below the DPI setting.
If the app itself doesn't support fullscreen you can install https://github.com/LSPosed/LSPosed with https://repo.xposed.info/module/ru.bluecat.android.xposed.mods.appsettings . Appsettings allows to define the fullscreen mode.
Otherwise you can look for a similar app that supports fullscreen for your intended use.

Is it possible to hide the status bar so an application can fill the entire screen? The terminal commands I used to use on my Pixel 3 XL are no longer working

I wonder if Nova Launcher has gestures to do that. I know that you can with the Dock.

I didn't see any options to hide the status bar in Nova. I am using the free version, though, so my options for gestures are pretty limited

I'm not trying to hide the status bar on my home screen. I'm only trying to hide it in applications that I might have open for long periods of time while reading posts or articles, like the XDA app, Chrome, Reddit, Tapatalk, etc.

It is possible with system ui tuner but the space occupied by the status bar is still unusable by apps. This may be a limitation with having the punch hole because my poco f2pro and oneplus 7 pro both can still go completely immersive on A12 but they are true full screen phones.

Tried system tuner ui by zachary in November when I got the phone and again just now. i'm proficient with adb and did the commands for non root and still not working for me. Works on my Note 20 Ultra on android 12.

Seems to only work on Samsung phones now days. I used either System UI Tuner or just used the ADB commands on my Note 20 Ultra when I had it and any other phone before that and it works on my Z Fold3 and my Galaxy Tab S7 but doesn't work on my Pixel 6 Pro or my OnePlus 9 Pro. I don't know if it's just how Samsung phones are setup or what. I
had read somewhere about it being something Google had removed in Android 11 but it still worked for Samsung devices. Who knows why it works on Samsung devices and not on others.
wews if there is no fix then I have to go back to A11
