Hi I am the new user of Mi5s 4GB/32GB,
Phone works really great, it fast with good battery life, and not bad camera.
The only problem for me is the speaker sound quality which is really-really bad. The output sound is really low, and sounds awful.
The friend of mine said the problem is in the ROM, because he used to have this problem too with the same ROM that I use now.
My Mi5s is on MIUI Global Stable 8.0.3.0.
Is this problem really ROM related? Or hardware defect?
To be honest I am too lazy to install custom os into my phone, so if this problem is because my defective hardware I will try to accept it and will never use this brand in the future.
This is a problem with bad software ( I recommend this mod (Sauron) https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/soundmod-ainur-audio-t3450516
For better sound quality I reccomend A.R.I.S.E.
And I thought it was isolated issue with me... Al the test on internet suggested it is OK speaker, but I imagined it would be far better.
To much distortion and cracking at max volume... Shame, really

i have tmobile tp2
and i dislike its earpiece sound quality
my previous universal was much better
this is on stock radio 3.45, and on newest 4.49.25.17
my tilt2 sounded muffled when I got it. I tried different hacks but none of them worked. I ended up getting it exchanged. my new tilt2 is on the way.
I graduated from the Fuze to the Tilt 2. At first, I didnt think it would be that much of a different experience but, after I played with the Tilt 2, I must say that its definitely worth the upgrade. The bigger screen makes a huge difference, tho its the same processor speed as the Fuze, the Tilt 2 OS feels much more snappier. The build feels much better in the hands than the Fuze. PIE 6.5 is kinda slow and not as eye candy but feels much solid than opera and PIE 6.1. The speakerphone, hands down is the best I've experienced in years on a PDA/mobile phone. I thought it could've used a little more treble, but in comparison with the Fuze, the Tilt 2 speakerphone makes the Fuze's sound completely inferior. With today's technology, there's no reason why HTC shouldn't have included decent speakerphones in their handsets! The camera, I expect it to be good in a well lit area. I mostly tested the camera in low lit areas to see how well it performed, and from my test, just a slight improvement over the Fuze. The Gps works excellent. It was able to locate satellites within 20 secs in an open area. Overall, a well made phone, Finally!!

Im in the same boat, my new one arrives tomorrow, crossing fingers the sound is better...I had the muffled sound quality too especially with lower voices...speaking females (at least most of them) there was not an issue, but when I spoke to men on the phone it sounded low and muffled.
very sad to realize but it seems a hardware issue
..................
after some search ive found such thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550784
i will try different audiopara and post the result
some people in that thread told it helped
the only thing i cant understand, why the muffleness stays after reflashing? i tried different roms from nrgz28 and official russian. the radio also have been reflashed to the newest
I have complained about mine to the wife quiet a few times when talking with her, tilt 2 to tilt 2. I find myself moving the phone around to hear better, but it just doesnt get better. Im gonna try her phone and see if there is a difference.
I don´t have any issues with my sound quality
it´s just as good as my beloved Uni
For my original Tilt, at full volume, I can hear the caller standing 2-3 feet away from the phone. For my Tilt 2 I couldnt. Even when the phone is pressed against my ear, the sound is muffled with no mid to high frequency. It sounds like a midrange speaker with low pass xover set at 750hz. I wish I still have my SA3055
tried several audiopara files and no success
thinking its hardware
my thoughts are that earpiece hole is not enough opened, seems like a piece of plastic is resonating when low voice is coming out
its just my thoughts, perhaps its simply faulty earpiece speaker
now i thinking of disassembling it or not. i wouldnt do that, but i bought it on ebay so no warranty
Same problem here.
Went to at&t store and exchanged it,... twice. Same story. Tried flashing different ROMs and Radios - problem persists. Will try to exchange it one more time. If issue is still there, will return the phone - I have till Nov 17th.
BTW the sound is muffled not only with earpiece - speaker and headset have similar sound issue.
Other than that phone(PocketPC) is great. But sound quality is crucial, for me at least.

Agree with this..i did flash a customer rom and the reg and windows folder didn't have the audiopara files...so not sure what it used, it seemed like the sound was a bit better than stock.
But to your point, I wonder if its possible to enable a equalizer software for the earpiece and to see if we can add some mid-range or whether the hardware just couldn't support that...but agree the muffled sound is due to lack of midrange/treble.
finally i think its hw
and im wondering why this or similar thread are not sticky, cause there are a lot of complaints
added a poll

I'm 100% satisfied with mine - the amazing in-call clarity is one of the phone's best features. Then again, I don't have the T-Mobile version; it seems like everyone who does has problems with the earpiece.
strange situation, all complaints from tmo or att branded tp2s
does anybody have such problems with unlocked/unbranded ?
seems problem resolved for me after flashing radio from tmobile 4.49.25.05
I have a really big issue with my HTC One V, since i used to listen to a lots of music on my old phone, i hoped the sound quality would be at least decent on One V, but i hear a lot of background noise in my earphones, not the stock ones ofc, since they are really crappy, i have t-Jays One, which quality is rather superior, but on this phone i hear a lot of cracing noise, like some magnetic/electronic distortion, wich is unbelievably annoying, and it's hearable even with music off, right after i plug in my earphones, is that a reason to give my phone back, or have it repaced? (European version)
If I turn the volume up 100% I can hear a (very) slight amount of noise, but other than that the quality is excellent with zero cracking.
i don't have that issue with stock earphone..
i dont hv, my one v play music really good
Thanks guys, i'll just get it replaced, i guess you can lock this thread...
I have a One V with me and it too has a lot of background noise through the headphone jack. With the headphones plugged in there is no noise but the moment some sound starts playing on the phone you can clearly hear it and it's constant regardless of the volume of the music or whatever you are listening to. While you should get your phone replaced, there is a chance that the new one might have the same issue.
I had a terrible noise problem as well, but over time it slowly decreases. Noise is not yet completely lost, but now is in a tolerant level.
Interesting, is not it?
I have it too. Sometimes noise is so annoying it makes me want to trow off the phone. Noise is present even at boot sound. Changing headphones helps nothing. I had SGS earlier and it had perfect sound with it's wolfson dac, so I'm very disappointed now.
Hi there, I just bought this phone and I'm having the same problem... Did anyone find a solution? Anyone got it replaced and solved the problem?
I think I'm replacing mine as well, this noise problem is really anoying...
LG Released it's new flagship the LG G3, The LG G2 last year had problems with the noise cancellation and how the video quality sounded really poor
My question is, What about today how's the G3's Mic
Here's what I'm talking about
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDdBnXgYvNM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeg-u6cy8fs
Use headphones and you can really hear what I mean
I'm not sure if this was explicitly fixed for the G3, but I can say with quite some certainty I'm not facing any such issues. Mic seems to be good in all usage scenarios.

Based on my experience recording short guitar videos for instagram... That this phone does have the Noise Cancellation issue. No doubt. I absolute HATE IT!
Anyone know a fix for this?
Hello,
I have noticed whenever i play any sort of audio from my phone at max or one or two levels below the max it is very crackly and it really annoys me. I never had this problem before so what I suspect is that it's CM12 as it does not have an option for BoomSound under Sound. Is it possible to port it over from GPE? or is this a hardware issue not software?
Got this problem too on with Xenon HD.

I also now have a permanently damaged speaker from flashing a cm12 based Rom. Yes, speaker distortion was one of the known bugs for m8 cm12 based roms, but, I do not feel that it was made clear that by flashing it, could cause permanent hardware damage to the speaker(s). I flashed straight back to sense and the speaker, as you say, at max volume and two steps below, kind of "rattles". I can put up with it as it isn't that bad, but it is annoying. I can't get rid of this rattle now, so I am presuming that it is permanent hardware damaged.

Well I guess I will need to get the speakers replaced and let you know how I get on. At first I thought it would be my HK firmware but it didn't fix it by flashing stock firmware.

Hey man, I didn't do the repair for a while as I didn't want to open up my phone just to replace the speaker but today I had to replace my battery and charging port so I ordered the speaker too. I have to say the repair was very easy and it works perfect now
Hi
I want to buy LG G3 32GB version that has 3GB RAM
please help me out with my problem here my priorities are :
1. best performance for gaming
2. best sound + screen quality for watching movies
3. best camera for scanning documents + taking pictures
4. ideal development state
5. best battery lifetime
but before all of these I want the longest and best lifetime a device can offer cause im gonna have this phone for about 2 years till i change it again.
so based on my priorities and the fact that i will most definitely root and use custom kernel/roms and tweaks can this device offer me the best lifetime and least issues !?
Does it heat up really bad when playing games and recording with camera with the new updates and etc ?
How is the camera quality ?
How is the sound and audio quality ?
Are there any real issues with screen and its battery drain and heating up ?
Are there issues that I must be concerned with before buying ?

It does, but not that bad. Then thermal control kicks and the lag becomes noticeable.
Great camera, but only in stock roms.
Sound clear, but not to loud.
Some units have to much glue and yellow spots appear on screen. Most are fine. Amazing screen with great viewing angles and natural, desaturated colors.
Before buying this or another phone, remember that lollipop is a mess right now. Multitasking is awful. There are some important bugs in g3's lollipop.
You should read through this forum, because everything you asked is actively debated.
If money is no problem, then G4 might be better for you.
