Please use search before you start useless threads. You have found info about CF Auto Root from Chainfire. It will only work with an unlocked bootloader and the US Snapdragon versions of the S8 and S8+ have a locked bootloader. So it will not work. There are several thread about this and a post from Chainfire himself stating on US versions it will not work.
No, CF-Auto requires unlocked bootloader. The only reason files for devices that are locked down is because the site runs automated scripts to generate root files. So it'll work if and once the bootloader is unlocked. But for now, both will not work.
thanks for letting me know
Update on unlocking bootloader?
Wondering if anyone has any information on whether or not there has been any progress on unlocking the bootloader for the US versions of the g955u <snapdragon> yet? I know that the new unlocked versions of the phones came out recently and was wondering if anyone had a crack yet?

I believe those are carrier unlocked; NOT Boot Loader Unlocked.
I had a feeling I was buying the wrong version of S8 plus, is that why OEM is no longer in developer options?

Hi guys...so i updated my phone to 2.3.4 then rooted it with the zergrush method. Now i'm trying to unlock my bootloader so that i can flash cyanogen mod.I followed all instructions from the cyanogen site but i'm getting this error...
(bootloader) Unlock phone requested
FAILED (remote: oem unlock failed!)
finished. total time: 0.000s
Does anyone know what this error means.
Are you 100% sure you can unlock yours? If you're sim locked then no you can't.

I'm not sim locked and i followed the instructions to the t from start to finish.I even got the unlock key twice to check if that was wrong but both keys were the same.
I did the unlock bootloader check and it confirmed i can unlock it.
All drivers installed and can connect in fastboot mode ie blue light.
Getvar command was good ie 0.3
But i still get that error.
You typing in the unlock key correctly? Not getting the O/0s confused?

Yeah there's no 0's or O's.No but if it wasn't factory unlocked would that cause this problem.
In cases like that I think you may have to pay some dude to get it unlocked. Try giving these forums a search. There's a link to the guy who does them someplace on here.

I might have to look into that...thanks for the help.Nice name by the way .
One more ? if i flash cwm without unlocking my bootloader would i still be able to flash custom roms.
As long as the custom rom runs on the stock kernel I think so. I've yet to try the Darkforest one. I couldn't get it to work when I was on stock kernel with a locked bootloader. So I wouldn't hold your breath on that one. I can message the results if I manage to get it to flash via CWM. Thanks for the compliment Just putting back in what I take out.
I think that thread for the pay service bootloader unlock was removed for some reason but he has a website now

Hey guys I am new here. I tried unlocking my s3 via the UMTS/Network lock method but it wont work since my phone is on Android Version 4.3
How can I use Odin to unlock my s3 for use with Telus? I don't care about tripping knox as it's a hand me down and doubt It has any warranty or anything left.
You will have no choice but to unlock the phone via unlock code. Using Odin is not going to allow you to downgrade and unlock.

Gotcha, looks like I'm gonna have to pay someone for an unlock code. What are some good reputable places?
I would look for someone on ebay with a good price and good feedback. That's what I did for my Note 3 and Motorola.
I used the following thread a couple of years ago and have been switching between Rogers and Telus sims without any issues. Phone was originally Telus locked. This worked on 4.1.1, not sure if it will work on later versions of Android?
---------- Post added at 05:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:13 PM ----------
PMd you the link. Let me know if it worked, I'm curious if it's still a valid method.
Using the 4.1.1 method on a phone with a 4.3 or newer bootloader may hard brick the phone.

Sir, the process given to unlock bootloader on Mi.com or else supporting websites are not working at all.
How can we proceed further if this not happening ?

Wait for 3-4 day after receiving code from xiaomi.
As there servers are updated after 3-4 days. Sometimes may take more than a week..
Unlocking is different and rooting is different. Do not attempt to root without unlocking bootloader.

Lucky you they couldn't permanently unlock my phone because the rep in Maine did a temporary network unlock so I have to pay the phone off first

Call and ask again, tell them your a developer and you need to test applications on your phone. To do this you need an unlocked bootloader. If the Sim unlock is temporary it'll relock your bootloader and potentially wipe your data.

Yeah, had mine for 3 days when they permanently unlocked it. Haven't made a payment yet.
Don't ever let the T-Mobile rep do a temporary network unlock. If your goal is to bootloader unlock. They totally screwed this phone. I will have to pay it off first to get around the temporary network unlock. Or use the tool. But of course there's no tool yet ???

I am pretty sure that you can fastboot flash the ROM when your bootloader is unlocked
yup, but base on my experienced I don't have data and wifi right now, so don't ever try this at home if you don't have a back up phone. Lucky for me I got Sony and my pixel 4XL in hand=)

Give it to me...lets kill this phone...I am torn between this 2, Oneplus 7T and Pixel 4XL, like the 4XL, but I got the Oneplus 7T first, so I am trying to get this phone dead, so I can focus on my Pixel 4XL=) hehehe, just me...give the link or file, I'LL flash it

How do I get the unlock bin
I've been told that this variant is "hard-locked" and it's impossible for it to be rooted without unlocking the bootloader. I was also told this with my sm-g900v and it finally got unlocked. So I was wondering if any developers have this phone and know how to switch "CSC" codes similar to how the "SM-G900V" was officially unlocked by switching it to a developer phone.
Can someone tell me if the magisk root method works on the A505U1 stock firmware? I don't want to risk bricking.
I have the same a50 Sm-A505u1, I dont know if they have oem unlock implemented into the developer options yet, hopefully within a few more updates they will add the option to unlock the bootloader.

Switching the CSC won't add the toggle because the model number is encrypted into the phone's processor.
Yeah you would probably have to do individual work on each locked variant depending on firmware. Even then it's a longshot to get any exploits to actually work, seeing how this phone doesn't have a removable battery I can only imagine the hard bricking risk. On my S5 I always backed up all my partitions on an SD card but I had root on that phone to do that.

I know it's a little off topic but the system ui demo mode also doesn't work nor does the hidden menu. Hopefully a few updates will add more functionality to the phone.

I contacted samsung and they are saying that this phone cannot be oem unlocked, it sucks but I think after they are about to stop updating it they might add the toggle in the developer options.
Is the bootloader already unlocked since I bought the phone factory unlocked from Bestbuy. Could I root it now?
