charger cable - Lenovo P2 Questions & Answers

Hi does anyone know how many amps the charger cable should be because i find it to be quite short and flimsy. I used to have a moto x force and the cable on that was long and good quality so i would like to purchase a better quality cable but iff im right i think the type of cable it is will affect fast charging or maybe im wrong and i can use any cable from ebay.

USB Cable / Car Charger / Wall Charger combo

Hey guys,
Looking for a combo micro-usb wire that also comes with a dual car/wall charger. I dont care if its two pieces or three pieces, but I just care that I can keep the Captivate plugged in and not have any issues using it. The last one I bought was a Duracell three way usb combo that had a retractable wall charger on the travel charger piece, but it wasnt giving enough power to the phone, so i couldnt use it while plugged in.
I have been looking at the "Premium USB power kit" by A Days Tech on Amazon, but im worried its going to be a generic POS and not give enough juice.
Anybody know which of these works?
I guess I can also buy a high quality micro-usb wire and then a high quality USB car charger/wall plug seperately as another option. So any opinions on those are also appreciated.

There are a bunch of threads on charging these phones. Unless the charger or the cable has the data lines shorted, the phone will only charge at USB rate (~500mA). Even if you have a 1A car charger, the best you will get is USB speed UNLESS you connect the data lines on the cable. I have not seen a car charger that does this.
The most current the phone will draw is around ~750 mA. It will do this when it thinks it is attached to AC.
Hi,
I bought the Scosche HC12V Dual Home Charger, but I haven't received it yet, but from what little I know of the brand they supposedly make good accessories. I should receive it in a few weeks (shipping a captivate and accessories overseas).
Both outputs are rated at 1amp, the only thing is that it does not come with it's own cable.

I bought a car charger and separate car-to-wall converter from Monoprice. Total for both items about $5. Maybe it only charges at 500 mA but seems fine to me.

Captivate Wall Charger?

Does anyone know of a wall charger that I can get from Amazon.com? I think I might have found one, but I want to make sure it works first. It only has one review, and it says it makes the screen stop functioning while charging.
http://www.amazon.com/Rapid-Travel-...9BKI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287094538&sr=8-1
Has anyone purchase this or another one? If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you could link me to it.
Thanks.
I won't comment on the product you posted since I have no experience with it and don't want to give you any false info.
I use this charger with my Captivate:
http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Or..._1_1?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1287110435&sr=1-1
It's a Blackberry wall charger without a detachable USB cable. You will have to slightly trim a little plastic off of the MicroUSB plug shoulder, but that takes all of 10 seconds and is going to be somewhat common with most MicroUSB plugs aside from the one you got with your phone. When my phone is plugged into the Blackberry wall charger, it is fully functional and screen is usable, for what it's worth...
I use a bunch of different chargers with my Captivate. I have the Blackberry one at home, I have a Monoprice charger combo at work, a Logitech MicroUSB charger for their mice that will also work with my phone, and random off-brand car chargers purchased at Fry's. All the above will charge my phone without ill effect. I'm sure whatever you buy will work...

Good quality Micro USB cables

Hi,
Does anyone know of any good quality USB 2.0 Micro USB cables for use for charging the Galaxy S2 and also for connecting it to PCs?
Thanks,
James
Errr I use a variety of micro usb cables for my soon-to-be-expelled-into-space Galaxy (i7500)
- Nokia
- Blackberry
- Generic
and guess what...they all do exactly the same thing. Get the cheapest.
Cool, thanks. I had heard that some don't take a full charge...
I have had quite a few issues with thin, cheap micro usb cables not charging properly. Had issues charging HTC Legend, HTC Desire and LG Optimus 2x. Even when using a 1amp wall socket usb charger, they took forever to charge the devices. Bought a handfull of HTC and LG cables and now no more charging problems.
Loving the Amazon Kindle charger. You can plug in any micro USB cable and it charges just fine.

Sorry to contradict you but this is not entirely true.
Yes, they all get the job done but in terms of charging it can take you up to 4 times longer with a low quality USB cable.
To prove this to myself, after buying a cheap USB cable on Ebay and noticing a much longer charge time, I used a 1 Amp USB wall charger and measured the output current at the micro-USB end of each cable (cheap and original). The oiginal HTC cable gives around 700-800mA whereas the cheap one only gives around 250mA.
Conclusion : It takes 3 times longer to charge the battery using the cheap cable that the original cable.
Get's even worse when connected to a PC cause USB ports usually only give out 500mA. If you divide that by 4 when using a low quality cable, charging takes forever.
They are both USB 2.0 cables so the data transfer is probably the same, but the the cheap cable is much thinner which is probably why there is more loss in current.

[Q] What should i look for when getting a car charger?Does USB cable make difference?

I saw this Belkin charger and says 5V and 1A charging capacity. I read that S3 maximum charging is 1A , so will this charger work ? or does 5V is not enough ? or go for 2A ?
Also does USB cable matter in charging ?
the usb cable makes all the difference.. ive used cheap ebay cables and they dont charge quite as good as oem or the mediabridge hi-speed i have.

I have just bought a couple of these cables:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FAAHT0E/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and one of these chargers:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D82O68Y/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
as my Belkin 1A wasn't really as adequate as it could have been.
The cables may be a bit over-kill (and a tad pricey, but I took up the 30 day free Amazon Prime trial so got free next day delivery), but as a combo they work admirably and can cope with charging my S3 and my Nexus 7 (which needs 2A) simultaneously.
Can you guys suggest a brand which is available all over world.. both listed items are not available in india. And Cant spend so much too
USB is digital (except for power). Anything a bit pricier than the cheapest cable will do.
Get a cable like this, with a charger that provides 2.1a out of a single port. If you're on a custom kernel that allows you to change incoming amperage, you don't need the dedicated cable.

Where do people get the idea that a USB cable is gonna make a difference for charging your phone??
I've used ebay, dollar store type cables my whole life and have never had a problem other than cheap build quality where the cable doesn't last very long. It still passed the same power or signal as any well known and overpriced branded cable.
I assume these people are the same suckers who buy $100 Monster HDMI cables that work the same as $10 ebay or monoprice stuff.
Be careful with those "mini" car chargers. The cheap price is daunting, but I bought a package that came with 2 with retractable USB cords for only 5 US dollars.
The adapter would not stay firmly in the car and pull out whenever I tried to extend the cord to plug in my phone, and my phone's battery decreased while plugged in...
While this could've been a car issue, I'd just use caution. Instead I purchased a regular sized one with a retractable USB built in for only 8 dollars, I'll link you if you're interested. Good luck!

Also don't forget that the actual charger might suck

HTC One Slow Charge

I use a 2m aftermarket cable to charge my htc one in the bedroom, genuine short cable I keep for the car but I need a long cable for bedroom. Can you get a long genuine htc cable. Or how about if i use the original cable along with a usb extension, will it still flag as slow charging and fake charger...?
My usb extension shows is fake smoke charging recommend using HTC charger is message I get don't know if it's because of the brand of USB cable or if there is one that will work

The cable you bought is a data cable, 28awg cable. You need 24awg if you want it to charge like a normal cable.

Are you using an HTC OEM AC to USB charger? If you are not, then that might be why you are getting that slow charge message.

i've got this and it charges really well, takes about an hour to charge from ~50%.
however it could be a combination of this cable and the Anker 5Port 40w charger.
Finding it hard to get a cheap cable in the UK. Amazon UK is near £30. I have found this one which specifies 28/24 but is still quite expensive...anybody see any cheaper for 28/24awg...

It probably is a 24awg cable. Not because of the charger since the the current would be limited by the thickness of the cable. Like I said, it's a simple case of buying the correct cable. OP your phone will charge slow with a DATA cable which is usually 28/28AWG. You need 24/28AWG (24 for 5V and 28AWG for data transfer). A good google search will find you these quite easily. Amazon is probably best bet
To be honest..
I probably wouldnt bother with thicker cables. I mean it will help but only a small amount. Install a Kernal like elementalX to enable the qualcomm fast-charge feature that HTC suppresses stock.
22 AWG okay for charging ?

No, they make a lot of difference. What he bought, is a USB cable initially, one which probably wasn't advertised as a 'charging cable' more a data cable. So they have a much thinner wire because 5v is not going through. Your average USB charging cable provided for mobile phones is 24AWG, with 28AWG cable for data, 'data only cables' off ebay are 28AWG and 28AWG (higher the number, thinner the wire), these take hours to fully charge a phone
fastcharge
If you are rooted, kernels like ElementalX and TeamSeven gives you the ability to activate USB fastcharge. Might help you if you experience slow charging
