Need some advice and help... - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello. I hope you can help me resolve some issues...
I have the samsung sgh-i747m version. I originally had it rooted on stock 4.4.2 and working with a knowroaming sim. The knowroaming sim would either connect to Rogers, Telus or Bell depending on the signal strength. Mainly Bell in my case. Anyways, I use the sim for whatsapp and it was giving me issues. Namely, notifications would stop working after the phone sits for a while. I read that it might be a problem with 4.4.2 so I decided to update it to 6.0.1. Reason I chose 6.0.1 is because the guide uses the same recovery as I do (CWM) and I'm guessing that since most development has moved on to 7.1, 6.0.1 should be stable?
Anyway, I flashed the ROM and everything seems to work fine except my knowroaming sim no longer works. In other words, it doesn't connect to any network Rogers, Telus, or Bell. For some reason, when I go search for networks, it always says no networks found. So I popped in my Telus sim from my other phone and it connected to the network fine but again, searching for networks shows no networks. I think knowroaming doesn't connect because it can't find any networks either. So I spent some hours looking to see what the problem is and some of the jargon is starting to confuse me and making me hate Samsung for the things they do.
I managed to download an app called Phone Info *Samsung* and I will list the information here and maybe you can tell me what is going on:
If you have any suggestions on what I should do to get the network providers showing up, then I'm all ears. If updating to a 7.1.2 rom will fix this issue, I'll gladly do it.
Thanks.

Nobody?

Replace Cwm with twrp and try a different custom ROM?

I tried the octa-m rom 7.1.2 and still the same thing. I'm going to go back to stock and try again.

[Q] [HELP] Problem with network (R800i GSM)

Greetings!
I managed to get myself a used Xperia Play R800i (I'm from Bangalore, India).
It came with a Custom ROM and it didn't take my Vodafone IN SIM.
Hence I flashed 'R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_phoenixvendor.ftf' using the Androxyde Flash toolkit.
It still didn't take Vodafone but it took Airtel IN.
Hence I started flashing other ftf's but obtained the same results.
I then decided to stick to Airtel for time being and look for a solution.
I currently run on Lupus JB kernel with SuperJB v7.
On this ROM I came across the baseband version in "About Phone".
It is as follows "8X5AA-AAABQMAZM-20302204-36"
I guess its running on baseband 36.
Also there is a weird thing that happens, at home I get no problem making voice calls (2G mode) but as soon as I take it out I randomly lose the ability to make outgoing calls even though the signal status shows full reception. I can though, send SMSs and establish EDGE connection.
Can the baseband be the cause?
If so, where do I find other Baseband files and how do I flash?
Any help in this regard is much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Phone has no signal

This is my first smart phone, I had a Asus TF700 tablet that i unlocked and did a lot of custom ROM work on. Well I am military moving back to the US soon and i was visiting to take my wife back. I bought a Verizon M8 that of course was unlocked but i was going to use t-mobile. While in the states i had the issues that is common with this setup and was losing 4g, couldnt text while on 4g, etc. At this point i flew back over to europe and thought i could use t-mobile's deal of unlimited text and data in other countries. But i dont receive a signal at all. Started looking into how to unlock and custom ROM to fix the issues. I watched all the videos and read the how-tos that i could find and did the firewater to S-off and unlock. I installed TWRP 2.7.1.0 since it was the latest on the TWRP website. I changed over to superCID. I have installed viperONE M8 ROM. I tried flashing the ATT radios that i could find in tread on the regular M8 boards but after i flashed it, it would boot up all the way, i still didnt get any bars for signal but after about 5 minutes it would just reboot. i reflashed my originial radio and it worked fine again. Well i just tried to flash the WWE radio and same thing happened. Is there something i am missing to flash radios and not have it bootloop? Also, anyone have any ideas on what i can do to get signal on my phone? I have data roaming enabled and anything else i can find about roaming enabled. Thanks for any help.
In a nutshell you purchased the wrong unit.
The Verizon unit is a CDMA based version of the HTC One M8. So the Sprint and verizon share similar radios.
Your trying to use that on a GSM network. Not compatible.
You would need an AT&T / T-Mobile or Google Play Edition version for what your trying to do.
Some people have bricked their phones flashing CDMA to GSM and visa verse so be careful. Theres a lot more detail there but that pretty much covers it.

[Q] Flash modem on non-rooted ROM via Odin. Possible?

Hi fellow xdaers,
have been a while since i last flash / rooted an android device.
i have a T805Y running KitKat when I bought it from Telstra (Australia). i have then flash the generic Lollipop ROM (T805YDOU1BOG1_T805YXSA1BOG1_T805YDOU1BOG1_HOME) using Odin.
since then, i am having random lose of 4G connection and no way of getting back my mobile connection until a reboot.
does anyone knows if I can load a Telstra modem (perhaps a modem from KitKat using Odin (not rooted). my suspicion is that the gneric Lollipop ROM is not liking Telstra 4G sim card. i have to restart my T805Y every 2 days. disabling mobile network/enable flight mode still does not work for me.
my access point is telstra.wap.
when the 4G connection goes offline, i am not able to make any changes to APN/network mode. when i select network operators, it says 'can't connect'
restart is the only choice for me.
Thank you.
If you find out let me know please. I have the same model and would like to install custom roms but I think our model has the extra 700mhz LTE band needed for Telstra 4GX.

Can't connect to network after restoring LG G2 LS980 to stock

Hello,
I followed this guide to restore my sprint LG G2 to stock Kitkat 4.4.2. Everything went fine, the phone is working, the only problem I have is that I can't connect to any network. The phone is not recognizing any of the local network providers. I bought this phone on ebay and it came with a custom rooted rom installed on it, so I decided to "clean up the mess" and restored stock kitkat. As I mentioned before everything went fine, but the network is not working (it was working with the android version before i restored stock 4.4.2). Maybe its because I'm not living in the USA (I'm from Bosnia/Europe). Should I flash a different radio on it? The phone is updating atm with OTA and I'm pretty sure that the updates wont help. Did anyone else had these issues? Any help would be highly appreciated.
Update: My phone just got upgraded to Lollipop, but the network issue is still present
Update 2: I just reinstalled "cm-12.1-20151031-NIGHTLY-ls980" Lollipop 5.1.1. and it had no problems to find all the networks in my area, so this clearly has to do with stock LG android 4.4.2.
When you say you can't connect to network, are you referring to your mobile carrier network, or like WiFi?
If it's your mobile carrier that you can't connect to, you might need to switch your radio. Take a look at this guide and the section about using radio switcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/help/how-sprint-lg-g2-ls980-to-t-mobile-t3230685

Hey there. Sorry for the late response. I kinda gave up on making the stock LG ROM work, which is why I kept on using CM12.1 . What I was referring to was my mobile carrier. The phone has no problems connecting to any WiFi signal.
I didn't try to flash any radios at all after restoring the LG G2 stock ROM. Maybe I should have tried one of the radios from this CM12.1 for LG G2 tutorial. Here is a direct LINK to the full list of LG G2 radios, where I downloaded the radio for my phone. I'm not sure if the other LS980 Radios would work on my device. There are 4 different radios available for the LG G2 LS980.
Do you think flashing one of these radios would help solving this problem after restoring the LG stock ROM?

Canadian CSC for G960F/DS Not working

Hello everyone, I have had my G960F/DS for over a month and I just discovered the Canadian CSC package from @_alexndr from his DevBase thread: "https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=76516024&postcount=497", but have an issue I hope can be resolved. When I do a clean flash of the CSC package followed by DevBase, I keep getting a new sim detected message which prompts to reset my phone to use it. If I agree to reset and restart, it gives me two service providers "Rogers" and no matter which one I choose, the phone reboots and displays the same message.
I believe the issue could be that since I have to install TWRP to install the CSC and the ROM package, that it can't provide the proper reset process so it just loops. I know people mentioned since the Canadian G960W is a Snapdragon processor that the CSC is not compatible, but the CSC actually works as I get the same signal strength as I did with my S7 on LTE, it just the phone wants to always reset to install the CSC bloatware and it can't do that at the moment.
I thought to open this thread as it is a question and not necessary an issue with the DevBase ROM, so any help would be great!
I posted on the Devbase thread the following to hopefully help anyone else having this issue. I did find a workaround though. I basically flashed the OMX Multi-CSC and I opened up the Canadian Zip file provided and pasted all the files in the '/odm/omc' folder besides the two sales_code and CSC_Version files. I then opened up the mps_code file in '/efs/imei' and changed the code to RWC and my phone booted with RWC active and no prompts to reset it. I did realize though that Rogers doesn't allow WiFi calling or VoLTE on non-Rogers IMEI devices so it was kind of a waste of time. At least my Signal Strength is where it should be lol.
There may be a better solution and even though I have flashed many ROMs and been on XDA for a few years, this issue was new for me and hopefully this helps for anyone. Of course do a backup of your EFS and ROM before doing anything like this to be sure.

I'm so glad I came across this because I am in an identical situation: I came from an exynos rooted S7 and now just got a G960F and I want to flash a Canadian CSC (XAC or KDO) so that my signal strength is better. I'm finding that my LTE speeds are way slower and I'm only getting one bar of 4G+ with my koodo sim card.
I will give this a try and see what happens. I'm thinking maybe I should have gone with a (I think) rootable G9600 and flashed a W firmware on it but we'll see how this works.
Hi @Andrw0830, was there really any benefit of the RWC CSC? I have the same model as you on Rogers and haven't noticed any particular problems with signal strength. I was considering modifying mine so Samsung Experience/Pay/etc recognizes I'm in Canada.

Mainly the signal icon I noticed either shows low signal even if I am in the same area I know is good or the signal icon won't change so that is mainly a cosmetic fix. You do have the options of WiFi and VoLTE, but I found out afterwards that Rogers doesn't allow you to activate them when you purchase the phone elsewhere so not much advantage. Really the only thing might be the Reverse number lookup feature allows you to turn on when using the Rogers CSC.
