Hey , I bought lg g4 about half a year ago ,so far workd OK . Two days ago my phone suddenly had a stroke and turned off and then into bootloop. Went to the store today and they told me that lg are aware of this. Told me that lg made a patch that is supposed to fix this issue so it won't happen again , but this patch may make the phone work slower. I asked the seller if after that patch , the phone will work for lets say a year -two years? He said he really doubt it will last even a half a year.
Is that true ? Does all lg g4 have this problem? Is there any fix ?
Thanks.
ROTFL
The "patch" exist but it's not coming from LG but from people here on XDA. It disables the two A57 cores so the phone can boot and it's possible to do data backup before sending phone to LG for warranty repair. It's not a stable solution, it's only a temporary one. The only real solution for bootloop is motherboard replacement and it's done by LG under warranty.
Funny guy the one of the store....

Is that possible to take off that patch ? Can the phone last a year or two with that patch?
Someone?

i think someone reported that it lasted 4 months
I read that after disabling the two a57 cores , I can enable them again. So basically if there is another bootloop there is always a solution right? Either I disable or enable the cores. But is there any ROM or version or anything to stop the bootloop ?
I bought a new Lenovo Z2 plus (4GB 64 GB) version. It is running on build 2.0.093 Android 6.0.1 Aug 2016 Security patch out of box and I know there are two major updates after this but my device is not detecting any OTA updates. System updater software shows - "No Updates available. Refresh" (Tried many times since yesterday). And on that screen itself on clicking "Release Details", the following error is shown: "Failed to access release information server, please refresh again"
My friend also bought the same phone and immediately got the updates.
Is this an issue with my handset or do I need to wait further to get the updates?
Are the Lenovo servers for OTA updates down?
Why are release details not accessible?
Trying for 3rd day today. No updates. Bit concerned.
I will eventually install custom rom and do some experiments but want to use with stock rom for some days to check if any hardware issues are there or not.
Shall I return the phone or keep?

Try to get the zip files of .zuiota folder in your friends phone..
Actually, MM is less buggy than N. You can choose keep it or update via updater or via twrp. This is not the end of the world.

Man, over the net you can find actual versions of stock firmware for China (2.5.412) and India (2.5.104), which you can install via QFIL w/o any problems.

Hey, I suggest you call wherever you ordered your Z2 plus from. My friend had this issue as well and he called up Amazon customer care only find out that his device was defective. He got it replaced shortly. Also, tryna flashing the update zip if that works. If it doesn't, then you know what you'll have to do.

Thanks Prashant, I have called Amazon, but nobody has turned up yet. Keeping fingers crossed before the return back date of 30 Oct. It seems as soon as i complained of update issues, i am not getting any update notifications now.

How does not getting OTA updates makes the device defective?
I got it in a special deal and not willing to return. Already replaced once as the previous one was reboxed unit and without proper bill. This one seems new. What defect did your friend's phone had?

Let me answer this question... This device is a new purchase. It has got Android 6 out of box and has volte issues with JIO sim...and the update which is failing to install contains a fix for that (here we are still not talking about android 7 upgrade).
Another Major issue is when we check warranty status, it says warranty expired.
So let us say if u have a software issue on your phone that is irritating and you take it to a service center, the first thing they do is ask you to update (if not done already) to latest version...thats what we are asking. Today just got an email from Amazon since the inspection guy didn't turn up , they are replacing my phone now.

None of these show device is defective. For warranty how will lenovo know when you bought the device. Send a mail to [email protected] with invoice and back side image of box and they will update warranty details in 3 days.
Getting the update immediately means most likely this device is not new and you got a reboxed unit. Check on Lenovo forums, many have confirmed that it takes a few days to get the updates after booting the device for first time

Usually, Last time i purchased Redmi 4A and Sony Xperia X, warranty was automatically updated...maybe done by Flipkart from where i purchased. Lot a hasseles with Lenovo. I will wait a reply from Amazon for next two days..and then send email out to Lenovo, because when i called Lenovo, they asked to followup with whom i purchased my mobile. (Amazon or Flipkart)

Was there a Lenovo sticker seal on the box you got or only a laminated plastic?

Okay, I forgot to tell you this part. I went along with him to the service store and people there wanted to heat up the battery and sh*t. I don't know how that could've helped but we agreed to let them do so, but the updates still failed. Later they checked the warranty and it wasn't updated on the official Lenovo site. So yeah, the technician turned up after we called Amazon and he specifically said "The device is defective". We didn't bother asking because we were getting a replacement.
Good that you're getting a replacement. Enjoy. And do check the warranty of the replacement. Cheers!

Well, he wasn't able to update his phone. Updates were available but after the download it said something like "Package installation failure". Tried VPN as suggested in various forums but that didn't help either. The technician said the device was defective, and as I mentioned in my previous reply, we didn't bother asking.
how much heating are you guys observing on normal usage. I have noticed downloads using wifi heats up the device quite a lot.
There's some great YouTube content for this problem. EVEN I faced the same problem before, just check out the solutions on YT.

Nope. It won't install any China ****. If YOUR IP is Indian registered then you will get the Indian version of it.
Give it a shot (sott).I had this issue too and had it solved by this method.

Need one help/info.
I read on Quora that dialing following code helps to check bootloader status and whether unlockable or not:
*#*#7378423#*#*
But when I dial this, nothing happens. Since I am not getting it's updated yet and want to wait for some time before unlocking bootloader and there is a limited window for return, just worried if some issue with bootloader on my device. Can you check on your device and let me know plz

I tried it yesterday but there are no Shanghai or China server in flyvpn now. Tried with Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc but same result - no update detected
Also, when you say "if your IP is India registered" what do you mean? Registered where? Using Shanghai server with VPN will use China ip only right?
My current mi account reseted so I need to wait 312 hours yet. My mother has an old mi account (made it 3 or 4 years ago) but she never tried to unlock her phone.
Can I use it to unlock my phone after unbind my current account or it has a 360 hours waiting time too?

What counter? You said it yourself, she never even tried to unlock, so there never was a counter to begin with. These threads come up every day, just read the forum, there is no way around it, xiaomi fixed it. If you dont believe, then just go and try, you will see for yourself.
if your old mi account is unlock before sure can unlock on the spot with other phone, i have try before is work
Not working anymore. I have three accounts that unlocked miui devices before and they can't unlock new devices now. It says to wait for 15 days.

I tried to bind my account with a new RN5 PRO device with an old account which has already bound and waited the 360 hours and unlocked successfully with my Redmi 5 plus, but When I tried to unlock with the new device that got this morning (Redmi note 5 PRO), just asked me to wait 360 hours. Whatever If you have an old account with an unlocked device before or a new one, Xiaomi is going to ask you to wait for 360 hours.
My 2 latest phones unlocked right away without wait time. My account status on en.miui.com is Senior Member, don't know if it has anything to do with it.
Hi everyone, I am a few hours away from unlocking my bootloader but I am considering changing phone with a new note 5 because this one has a yellowish colour on the bottom of the screen (is this a thing? has anyone had the same problem?) If I change it and bind the new one to the same account, do I have to wait 360 more hours or will I be able to unlock the new one in the already given time? obviously I won't unlock this one
Yes you would have to wait again since it's a new phone.
oh, I thought the authorization was linked to the account, not the phone.. This really is bad news ?
