Battery percentage in European Z play - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Hi to all fellas,
Now, just got a Z play and i remember watching some reviews have the battery percentage next to the battery icon, just like samsungs and stuff. Go watch flossy carter review for example and you will see the battery % next to the battery icon, now the question is, wheres that option in my Z play ? i dont mind UI tuner cause that is too small and non usable imho. pls help

Install this app you will thank me

There isn't any on EU MZP, not on stock rom at least.

looks like only "droids" have it. I am really trying to think of a reason why motorola did this.

Non Root Battery Percentage

If like me your waiting to root and rom but want a battery percentage instead of stock battery img. I found an application that places a battery percentage over the stock image. I like this instead of having two battery notifications in the bar.
Not perfect, stays on while in full screen apps but is easy to disable from app drawer when playing games or whatever.

Why are you waiting to root? You're using a Google device that is specifically geared towards development lol.
Or u can use Super Status bar....Its friggen aWESOME. It also has in-App-purchases, so u can buy extra status bar MODs. its replaces then whole status bar. Theres a free version, so u can get a feel for it. It works really well, and has no ill effects on the battery
Or use Quicker. Only a few pence and puts a little battery percentage in the status bar along with your stock battery. P.S. Why would you be waiting for a root? The phone was rooted before it got released, it is a developers phone remember

Quicker just adds a second battery. My ocd can only handle one battery notification.

[Q] New Nexus Owner, and introducing myself

Hello Everyone,
Many times while searching the internet for Nexus information, the search keeps having me come to this forum so I decided to become a member. Just got for my G-Nexus the other day, its replacing a Droid 3. Nothing really wrong with the Droid (well), but it was my first physical keyboard phone and I wasn't feeling it, and I heard so many good things about the Nexus I knew I had to have one.
I've had it less then a week now, and so far I love it. Though the one thing I must say I am not crazy about, which seems to be a common complaint, is the battery. It drains WAY too fast. Today though seemed more then ridiculous. I left my house @ 8:45 am @ 100% (right off the charger). Made some use of it on the bus, but nothing much (no calls, no video, no music). Already by 11:30am, I was @ 39%! I mean come on, I didn't even use it that much. Yes, I did notice I left the WiFi on, but it should not have drained that fast. Tuesday I used the device moderately and I was able to go home after having the device on for 9 hours and still have around 40% to spare. Its a shame they cannot make a battery that can accommodate such a great phone.
So some questions: Is it really necessary for me to root this thing to get its full potential? I never rooted a phone before. When I bought the phone, I got a shiny gel case that Verizon sells for like $20 - if I did get the extended battery and door, would this case still fit? I am thinking no. Is the ext. battery even worth getting?
I have more questions, but I will peruse the forums and see what everyone else is saying. So in all I just wanted to intro myself and say I am happy to be part of the forum!
Your battery should definitely not be draining this fast. Install better battery stats(look around XDA) and look at what partial wakelocks you have. Try to remember any recent apps that might have been causing the drain
The 2100mah battery will fit. If you're looking at the 3900mah extended batteries, those have their own custom backplates and won't fit.
I've read that the 2100mah battery adds about an hour of juice.

Sorry to sound dumb, but what do you by "battery stats"..?
And I am not sure what a wakelock is either - if you could explain
Hey,
I got my Galaxy Nexus this week too. This is my third full day of using and I get good 10+ hrs of usage each day. I use it a lot too. At least 2-3 hrs of talking, about 50+ texts, synching 4 emails, and browsing/streaming an hour or two each day.
You should check what drains your battery the most and go from there.

'better battery stats' is an app. go look for it. there's an XDA version
your phone goes into 'deep sleep' to conserve power. wake locks are when something refuses to let it get to that state and locks it awake. This is major cause of battery drain.
Better battery stats is available on the Play Store (ugh hate that name) but the dev is nice enough to give it to xda members for free:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
Aside from looking at wakelocks, go to Settings>Battery, then look at the list of stuff (in descending order) that's eating your battery. I went to watch a movie once at 90%, when it was done the battery was at 18% and I never even touched my phone. I checked that list and apparently Facebook killed the battery. Try and look for apps that might be using up a lot and either uninstall them, replace them, or trun off features that might be causing the drain

I'll let you know if you have a problem...and if you do...we'll diagnose it.
Root it?
It's a Nexus man. They're fantastic for root users.
All the roms are AOSP...
And bug free (or...mostly. AS bug free as any google build, generally).

I agree with you that the Nexus is fantastic for root, but it's not necessary for all users. I rooted mine because I was use to with my old HTC HD2, but ,except for changing rom, it's useless when you just get your phone.
I think that you can keep the stock rom, and don't root it. One day you will maybe need it, but the stock rom is very nice, it's enough to start (that's what I did with mine).
I noticed you are on Verizon, bad cell reception can chew your battery for lunch too.
There's something floating around in the development section (sprint I think) called battery mod.
Of course, youd need to root and unlock your device to get it working (takes all of about 5 minutes).
I also had this battery draining problem, but installing a custom from with a power saver governor and the battery mod, it'll drain 1% every 30min-1hour. Its essentially in "deep sleep", as the CPU winds down to 0mhz, instead of the standard 350. With this comes a lower CPU voltage, so less energy is wasted.
All in all, this is a great phone once you tame it.
Look for Black Ice ROM. Its probably one of the best here because it let's you choose a stock look or a custom look

Battery life is killing me

Hi all, I bought my brand new original HTC One X 3 days ago and it got the newest android version for it, JB. But there is a big problem and it is the battery, it's just horrible to see such a awesome phone with a battery life like that. Does anyone know which things I can do to have a better battery life? I already have the almost lowest brightness, no live wallpaper and no antivirus on the phone. I also use the official energi saving function that comes with jelly bean but it doesn't even make the battery better at all, not even a little bit. Please help!!!

You will find your phones battery life will improve, mine wasn't that good for the first few days.
When ever i get a new phone i always charge it over night & then when its off charge leave it till it bleeps to be put back on charge, do that for the first few times as i find it gives the best life.
Mine is very good now

can u say how long your on screen time or general battery life is? but at the first few times/days/weeks it's really bad but after few charge cycles it will bet better because the battery has to improve itself with the information the phone gives, you know? wait and charge and after a week or so it will be really better...
Or if you just disable google now you will be good. If you disable google maps aswell your battery life will be perfect. Something is wrong with those two
That issue is just with jelly bean

if you play more then 1 hour or so then that's not so bad because if you play a game or two only from full charge you can reache 2- 2,5 hours...with games like THD games or other which make a lil bit more heat or so ....and if you play only games like solitaire for this time or so ...then that's really not normal...you know that in the hox are 4 cores and 8 gpu cores, and therefore the battery isn't like in a phone with 2,500 or more mAh because our has only 1,800 mAh ...if yo uwant to disable it press long home button and then you can press the menu button and there will be settings in that you can disable google now and for the other google things just go in settings then apps and then all apps and there you can click on any app ! but don't deactivate system apps! and if you click on them there will be a button deactivate and yes press it and it is disabled
I usually play Dead Space but not for more than 20 minutes because the phone heats up like hell -.- And I disabled google now hope the battery will be a little bit better, but any more ideas how I can get better battery life please
With my HOX, I found having brightness at 60% or less made the biggest impact. Also, disabling wifi when not needed made a huge difference. Decrease the time between auto syncs, and also check for wakelocks. Might have an app waking the phone a lot.
But I do understand where you are coming from. The battery life was killing me also, so I bought a Note 2 as a primary phone and now use the HOX as a music player for which it is outstanding haha
the first time the battery is always bad ._. just wait some days or so and it will be better...and look with betterbatterystats which wakelocks you have then you can see which apps might make the battery life also more worse...
Thank you very much I will try them, the battery seems to be a little bit better when I turned Google Now off

Pretty obvious, isn't it? Plus the Snapdragon S4 Krait has a better manufacturing process (I think 32nm) compared to Tegra 3's 40nm process, so it's more efficient and less power hungry.

Not true. Look at the RAZR Maxx. If Motorola can put such a huge battery in a thin phone, there's no reason other manufacturers can't. Also, it was definitely possible to put a bugger battery in the One X, but HTC just didn't do it. They instead released One X+ sometime later and claimed better battery life as a 'feature'. That's just wrong, and very similar Motorola releasing the RAZR, and then the RAZR Maxx soon after. The phone should have had that battery since the start. The only reason I can find with Motorola is that the RAZR is slightly thinner for those who want it that way. But the One X and One X+ have 0 design difference.

My point was in comparison to old phones.it'll be a long time before we get as good batrery life as on old phones. Reason being smArt phones just do to much nowadays..many forgetting it's actual purpose

Just don't forget that the T3 is a pretty "old" chip, it needs a lot of power.
Nevertheless, I think the One X isn't that bad regarding battery life. It will drain quickly if you start gaming, but you should expect that. It's no gaming device, it's still a smartphone. Of course you can play your games every now and then but if you expect you can game with that thing for hours without getting it to heat up or charge it in the meantime, you put your money on the wrong device

[Q] Some questions about xperia zl

Hi everyone, Im going to buy this smartphone so I have some questions :
1/ Is the battery life better than optimus g ? ( My old optimus g can last full a day with 4,5 hours onscreen time ( surfing webs, email, facebook,...))
2/ The temperature when gaming ? ( for example, alphast 8)
Thanks
The battery life is not great. 3.5 hours onscreen time in 18 or 20 hrs max. In games works very good and the temperature is a little warm but that's in every demanding game

How about CM 10.1 on this device ? Does battery life better than its stock rom ?
I can't tell you anything about cm10.1 because I have blocked the bootloader from factory. If you want cm10.1 make sure to buy a model with the bootloader allow to unlock.
Enviado desde mi C6502 mediante Tapatalk
So is there anyone here using ( or used) CM 10.1 on xperia ZL ? I want to know more about battery life on this custom rom
Using Cm11 you'll get around 3 and a half hours of battery, but you'll actually get better on stock based roms from my experience. I had to revert back to the stock rom so I can give it to the service center... so this is the only screenshot I have right now and its what i normally get...
And how about the stand by time when stamina mode is on ? Did you play games or use 3g/4g ?

I didn't use stamina mode much cause it cut off data but i did play plenty games (like asphalt 8, riptide 2 etc)... needless to say they did drain quite a bit of the battery. But its the same on any android device. I never felt the need to carry a portable charger and always had enough juice to reach home at night and still use it for a couple of hours... and I'm on 3g...
And how much time zl last with alphast 8 ? If you just surf webs and email, does the battery life better ? Thanks
In about half an hour asphalt takes 10-14 % of the battery.... and web surfing takes about the same in an hour.... this is of course just off the top of my head... as i can't measure and tell you right now cause i don't have the phone with me.... But u have to realize the battery life depends from user to user and from region to region... I can give u hundreds of answers but still it might not match many others' experiences! It just varies...

Need some info need some help

Good evening all and dear felas
