Hi guys, recently I noticed that the headphone jack output isn't as loud it used to be in the OOS 3.X days.
For example, setting my OnePlus X aside and comparing the two, I would much rather prefer the louder, more aggressive tones it produces compared to the OP3.
Does anyone know what I could do to work around this? I have the bluspark kernel currently. I flashed francokernel to use gain control and was running into stability issues and bootloops before i could even get to it.
I'm currently on OB14 and my daily driver IEMs are the Xiaomi Hybrid Pro HDs.
Thanks.
Use ARISE Sound mod + V4A. These work great. Also these are included in popular roms like FreedomOS & ExperienceOS.
Hope this helps.

Do one thing flash FreedomOS and in aroma select Arkamysa and Viper 2.5 (or whichever is latest), do not select anything else in Audio Mods. It will work for sure.

Get Viper4Android, do not get any audio mods that come with ROMs if you really do care about audio quality. All these different audio mods make music sound like absolute trash and remove a lot of clarity. Viper4Android doesn't change the sound if you don't want it too and you can go to the last option and boost the gain by I think 10db... That is plenty enough to bring it back to the loudness you like (probably way higher) while not deteriorating the sound much.

I wanted to know how to make my sound output louder, I have Viperone Rom with viper4android and Harmon kardon . I also checked the option when installing Viperone to install volume boost hack which didn't seem to work.

You could try better headphones. I have my gain set to slight, and mine is as loud as I need.
Commercial construction worker.
Loud environment as well.

Hi, i wanted to volume up my m8's speakers, i have Viper rom, and V4A installed, but i noticed that Htc One m7 is better on speakers than M8, because of IntenseBLAST mod provided to m7, is there a way to volume up my speakers? There must be a way, this intense blast mod doesnt work for m8 cuz M8 doesnt have Beats audio, can someone help here?
Thanks in advance.

There is a mixer file you can mess with manually to boost the volume, but it will create noise/distortion so its not worth it.
What mixer? Can U help me a little with it?
So it seems that M7 is louder on speakers than M8? Now im sad I like this phone (M8), the sound on headphones is great, on speakers too, but a little louder would be enough for me, maybe i could volume up the speakers without the distortion, just a little, would U help?
Thanks for fast reply.
Could someone guide me to edit some files responsible for speaker volume and how to edit them? I want to try so much to look how the efects would be.
Thanks so much for Your help.

Turn on Playback Gain Control in V4A and set the effect strength to how loud you want it (Slight, Moderate, or Extreme)
more loud speakers?
i have noticed that, sense roms are not to loud, you can try to install a pure android rom like cyanogenmod, liquidsmooth, carbon rom.
you will notice that the speakers will sound very loud my friend..
honestly i love sense and would like to see a sound mod to gain the perfect loudness on my M8

This only work on headphones, not on speaker, Ofc if U have set minimal loudness 1/15 in your UI and apply the gain in V4A then u will notice volume boost even on speaker, but if ur on Max in UI 15/15 then the volume wont boost. See for yourself i have checked it all already.
Cheers.

Hey, you have to go into the init.d tweaks and in several areas, change a few settings from false to true, and so on. If V4A is installed, it will contradict the pre-installed "Soundboost" software and cause distortion. I think the tweak is to turn LPA decode off., or to false. I'm in the middle of firmware updates otherwise I would post a screenshot or more particular answer. I will update the specifics soon for you.
I'd be grateful for your screenshots.
Thanks a million.

Heya man.
Have a quick look here: http://androidhackz.blogspot.com/2013/12/get-amazing-sound-quality-with.html. It goes in more depth about what I was mentioning actually. Recently when I install the V4A 2.3.3.0.zip and it ask which quality audio drive I want, another window pops up informing me that the Viper4Android app itself can handle the disabling you would need. Perhaps an older version doesn't though. Hope this helps? :good:
Hi Everyone,
Is it just me or the sound quality after updating to Nougat has really gone down (that we need upgrades like A.R.I.S.E or Divine beats?). Earlier I noticed that we used to have a simple mod for any sound i.e. Viper4Android, which is still MOTHER OF ALL SOUND MODs for me .
I noticed that the audio playback is having VERY MUFFLED bass through my home theatre system over the same bluetooth connection while playing with MM ROM. I tried rolling back to MM and things work perfectly. I wish to stay on Nougat for obvious advantages of the newer UI, better battery & performance but would still like to see if anyone can port the lib from MM to N?
I don't essentially want to install ARISE or Divine Beats; for me Viper4Android is just fine and I would love if it works just the way it used to on MM.
PS: I bought my home theatre after tweaking Viper v2.5.0.5 on MM and the same is not working after updating to N.... any help is appreciated.

The sound libraries have DEFINITELY changed in the system which are truly worse than Marshmallow!
I certainly need someone's help in getting them Ported back or else I have no other option other than rolling back to MM (since I spend 4-5 hrs/day on music). :crying:

Viper4Android and Divine beats/A.R.I.S.E are completely different. Divine beats and arise change your music first without you going into the app to change things. When I installed freedomOS with Divine beats, I notice my bass was extremely overpowered and everything just sounded like crap.... I really don't understand people's music choices sometimes. All these sound mods just make the phone sound like crap, especially since the OP3 already has a much warmer profile, meaning the bass and highs are very pronounced from the box

Exactly my point.
Even though the sound out of box was very good, using Viper4Android would take it to the next level. But Divine/A.R.I.S.E fiddle too much and extort the audio.
Marshmallow sound libraries were literally awesome and V4A on top of it would just make it mind blowing. Don't know how to get that same experience without going back from Nougat. :'(

Well you can install freedomOS without the Divine beats and what not, install Blu_spark kernel and set it to SElinux to permissive. Then you can install Viper4Android on its own and you'll have some nice audio.

I strongly recommend against this. Just install Magisk or use something that comes with Magisk preinstalled and install the Viper4Android from the Magisk repo / Magisk module. There is also one for Dolby Atmos. That way you don't have to mess with SELinux or modify system files.
Nah...Didn't go well.
Still the same sound quality. Muffled and garbled.
I have the EXACT same issue. I can't believe OnePlus went ahead and did this. Who do I tell?
I have great sound...experienceos + viper4arise with magisk. Install permissive script for magisk to avoid overheating issues. Dont tinker to much in viper . This is my speaker setting its loud and very clear. I love it.

I beg to differ from your opinion here though.
After trying out 4 different Nougat based ROMs and 4 different Marshmallow based ROMs (yeah....took a lot of time with clean installation and stuff), I easily infer that OP3 Nougat ROMs have REALLY POOR sound libraries. Viper4Android alone works well with Marshmallow based ROMs (and using it with A.R.I.S.E/Divine Beats/etc. makes it even better) and bass doesn't distort at all (saved a few Viper Profiles and re-used them between ROMs). But the same profile in Viper on Nougat sounds just CRAP!!
Don't know what the solution here. Just wish there was some way to find out what is it that is causing this to happen? Which part of sound library or which file? Can anyone help?
Sound is heavily distorted when using my Bose QC 35. It doesn't appear when I use a wired headphone (and earphone). It's a software issue because downloaded media, and Soundcloud audio distorts; while playing YouTube videos don't.
It's incredibly unbearable when there's anything remotely bass to the music...
and I listen to music with lots of bass, so..
I'm using a Resurrection Remix ROM (5.8.3)
I don't use RR, and don't know if it's a known bug. Mostly just some shots in the dark here: Are there any sound mods, and if so, does disabling them make any difference?
Do the apps that cause distortion have their own EQ or other sound options, and if so does disabling them make any difference?

Nope, as far as I can tell, RR does not come with any sound mods installed.

I have tried using multiple music playing apps, with and without EQs. RR also came with an EQ app; with or without EQ, sound is still distorted.
Anyways, I do believe ResurrectionRemix is causing the sound distortion. Probably a bug on their end (as i've noticed many, already). Hoping to get a better experience once I flash a stock Android O rom (what with AptX codec and all that)...
No more custom ROMs for me. Thanks for the reply nonetheless!
UPDATE: Funnily enough, the EQ are the ones that sort of bandaged-fixed the sound problem! It seems like the 60Hz range are the ones primarily causing distortions (the bass). Lowering that made the distortions virtually impossible to hear... at the cause of losing bass, which kinda sucks. But for now, this'll do. Hopefully flashing a stock ROM next time will truly fix this.
Is there a way to control the DAC via viper 4android, so that it amplifies the viper effects or the sound?
From what I've done by installing V4A as a magisk module, DAC works as usual and V4A on top, certainly, sounds better, but i thinks still has little bit quiet sound...
I still have the feeling that if I let run in parallel with viper that the viper sound sometimes a little bit steer? and I think that the profiles of the DAC do not quite harmonize with viper? So I thought, if there is a possibility, that you can turn the dac on and off, but tonal only steers over viper
I think the sound does not sound as clean and clear as on my z2. even without dac. actually the LG would have to sound much better than my z2. I'm a little bit mystified. I've already disabled the LG Equalizer, but has not brought any improvement with Viper4android
lol you guys are trying to fix something that isn't broken. in fact, you're trying to fix the most outstanding feature of this phone!
At least it would be nice if you could switch off the standart equalizer. because the profile is Normal, it does not mean at the same time that the equalizer is off. then I suspect that if I have viper installed, there are problems with the volume. that the lg and viper hinder each other and that's why such a bad sound arises, even if the dac is off
Do you unterstand at all how viper vs build-in DAC works?
The only way, afaik, for bypass the default EQ and filters is using USB audio player Pro, since pass bitperfect data to the DAC skipping any post process.
To be honest I don't know why you want to use viper, you only add a lot of junk to the sound, don't get me wrong but If you're not happy with the sound maybe you should buy better headphones.
is there anyone who can port Viper4android for the G7? I found out that some of the original sound files have to be changed or replaced. if it should sound neat and clean.
can someone tell me what the file is responsible for in the directory vendor / radio?
because I have now deleted this file and still the LGEqualizer apk and have the pure sound of tidal. and it sounds a lot better. I just wanted to know what the file in the radio folder is good for.
