Recently, my phone has been loading image thumbnails, especially for RAW images when sharing photos on other apps like Telegram,... Even in Photos, I have experienced this slowness. I am sure an update has caused this as my friend also complained about the issue just recently.
Anybody, got any idea what this might be?
P. S. Video playback is smooth as normal. Just the thumbnails loading slowly. There is a screenshot of Telegram image sharing attached to this post.
i have this problem too untill now

Just been trying to take some contact photos with the new V4 rom, they dont get saved atall. Not to a contact or onto the disk. Once its taken it just vanishes?
Also when browsing images using the viewer clicking "Camera" doesnt do anything.
Anybody got some nifty registery hack to fix it. Ide like to fill up my contact photos for the cube but ones taken with the normal camera are huge files and look odd when shrunk down so much!
Thanks
Ryan
Same problem here
Also saw it with mine too. After tryng tht and starting camera with the hardware key showed, camera initialisation error.May be some gurus will help us out.
Yes, it appears the camera is broken, I can not open any pictures I have taken, not just contact photos.
In have just reset my device to see if I can find a work-around and it is now stuck on the welcome screen.....
Camera problems
Problems I have with the camera are:
- Contact pictures are not saved (so you can't use them)
- GPS foto's still not working
- foto's and video's are stored in the seem folder
- when you make a movie the movie is not showing under album (but it is in the folder)
- when you try to play a recorded video you receive an error saying "the source filter for this file could not be loaded"
Does anyone know if there is a cab file for the camera or who to contact to get these problems fixed???
Trying Fix now..Wait me..!
My phone recently started displaying everything with like a cartoon effect where you can see all the pixels being thick? & I copied some images to my pc & they display correctly so I decided to take a screenshot of a picture, please look, any help?
Thanks in advance
hi does it do it when your on the se home screens and app draw or just with photos youv taken ?
Looks weird. Like the screen is only able to display a very little amount of colors which results in heavy banding in gradients. Or heavily compressed images.
Like the previous poster said, are only the photos affected or everything like homescreens too? If only photos, you haven't changed to camera quality settings to the worst (though I heavily doubt it could be that bad even if you did)?
Ooops you said they look fine on the computer which is weird. Maybe your screen if faulty somehow. Don't know. But if only the screen is faulty it should not show on a screenshot. Very weird problem indeed.
Its just affecting when I take pictures, or even when I download random images the same problem occurs, so just viewing images really
So just viewing images, It may be your image viewer.
Is that the stock photo app or camera360?

Click to collapse
It's the stock gallery app.
If it only affects images I would try and download another gallery application like Quickpic and see if the images display fine.
Maybe if you replaced the app with the one fro system dump?
Sent from my Xperia Play
I used quickpic & it works fine its just gallery & some games
Wow, I found out what it was.... It was chainfire 3d, I accidently selected the unroll to 16 bit & when I uninstalled it it worked fine!
Well, I don't know how to define this, so sorry if it's already answered.
Point is i know that all the gallery-kind apps normally are using a cached image preview when displaying pictures and then it loads the full res image a few milliseconds after the image is shown on screen. But I noticed a huge kind of redraw on the g3 stock gallery. It makes some type of 2 pass on every image, and not the full image at a time, seems that makes it by blocks or sectors.
Here's a video sample I've taken (sorry about quality, it's more noticeable than that).

The sample pictures doesn't have anything special. Just 10Mp shots, stock camera in auto, not Hdr, not edited, stored internal memory default location.
So, if anyone have any idea on this or if it's some way to solve or reduce that issue, wil be much appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Noticed if I take a ton of shots in one go and switch between video and camera that I will on occasion lose an image. Pain in the rear as this seems to have happened where even the last shot preview shows a taken shot but clicking it shows NO shot saved. Even Google photos app doesn't show the image. Did a dump of DCIM folder and shots are missing. Had this happen now 5 times in the last week. Taken 200 images so far and 5 images just took and showed in preview - SO it's not operator error of shot actually not taken - shot shows in last shot preview but doesn't save. Wondering if the lag on HDR processing is causing a stall on processing and inadvartent loss of image?
Others seeing this at all.
I've noticed lost shots too. Really hating the lag with the camera app and I'm thinking that's the cause.

If you're shooting many shots in HDR+, then yes, you'll likely max out the phone's ability to post-process all of those images. Others have noticed this after taking 3-4 HDR+ photos in succession.
Same issue here. As far as I’m concerned, I think this is a big problem and this should be a PSA/sticky thread until the issue is fixed.
Hello guys, I have an issue with a really slow loading of photo/image thumbnails. For example, when I open Facebook or Instagram app (or any other app which allows photo upload) and try to upload new photo from gallery, I got a really slow image thumbnail loading during scrolling over all the photos. I have no idea why this is happening. Do you have any idea how to solve this? It's really annoying
You can see screen record demo here.
That's very odd... I am still waiting for my S20 to be delivered, but I can confirm that this is NOT happening on my S9 (with both FB and Instagram)...
Have you tried wiping the data and cache for FB, insta, and the gallery? Just a thought.
Had same issue on s10+...had to many pics on the phone....I moved pics to pc and it loaded it fine...Try to move pics to another storage device...
Nightwind Hawk: thanks for the tip. Tried to wipe data for both apps, but this doesn't help.
termdj: thanks, I will try
