I was thinking about the possibilty of emulating a Mobile Phone number, to setting up a WhatsApp account, that don't use my Phone Number.

Just got my first wp7 (samsung focus) a few days ago and there are some glaring issues that need to be worked on through MS updates, but there is one in particular that is bugging me.
Gmail Contacts: The issue I'm having is they sync, but only certain phone numbers. For instance, my girlfriend has 4 numbers. A mobile, two work numbers, and a google voice number. My phone will only sync her mobile & main work number so I do not have access to either her google voice number (which I really need) and her secondary work line.
Is there something I'm missing? Or is this just one of the things they will be addressing at some point down the line? Hopefully there is something I am missing as I need to at the very least have access to everybody's contact information.

Well, for now,I just made a second contact for her with her google voice # as her mobile. I know the OS is new, but I hope they get the contact issues worked out sooner rather than later as the main function of my phone is still contact with humans (for now).

Will it work if change the gmail sever to the IMAP address?
I had this problem also.
I'm afraid to say that I looked all over the internet and couldn't find a solution for this.
I fixed it by changing phone number types to known once, e.g mobile, work, home (other is not supported).
IMAP = email only, no contacts, calendar, or anything else.
That's a weird one, I haven't run into this problem yet. I just looked at 3 people who I know I have a pager (really their Skype Numbers), work number, home number, cell number and Work 2/company and all showed up just fine on my DVP. hmm...
Hi! My mom just bought a HTC Wildire S and she is very happy with it but she is having one problem with it. All her contacts are saved on her google account and linked to facebook. But when some contact calls the phone always shows Unknown.
I think the problem is that all her contacts are saved with "+354" in front of the phonenumber but when the contact calls it doesnt display the "+354" part, just the phone number. I have an Desire and my contacts are set up in the same way and work perfectly. Any ideas how I can fix this?
Its a common error. I have it on my wildfire s too. Think the problem started from android 2.3 but it happens in certain countries only. This is what HTC support told me.. The solution is either add a number twice for the same contact. Once with the country code and other one without.
You may also get a software called prefixer from the market. it will add the country code to incoming calls and the contact name will show after proper configuration.

I want to set my Phone Number in cellphone, because when enter in Status of Phone, my Phone Number is Unknown :X

Or maybe MSISDN isn't set in your SIM card?
To fix this, you can try an app My Phone Number.
You can set your phone number if you have an old phone lying around.
I used my old SE java phone to set my phone number.
The phone number will now show in Settings>About Phone>Status
MyPhoneNumber says "incompatible with other applications using the same shared user"
And im using MIUI doesn't have this option in settings :X
You need to put your SIM card in an iPhone or an old SE device that supports editing SIM number, Android doesn't support it.

I was wondering if anyone knew of an app or setting that would allow for my to change my device phone for different sets of contacts? I've been working on getting all of my work stuff transferred from my blackberry to my S3, and so far everything has been great. The only remaining issue is that when I call work personnel with my personal phone my cell number pops up on their phone instead of my work number.
Any help would be great!

Hello. Is it possible to use a disposable number with two lines for whatsapp so that we are able to make a whatsapp account from that number? If no then is there any other way to do the same? I want to have one additional number but don't want to have two sim cards. I had already tried doing the same but I get a message that the whatsapp is not the original one, also the playstore is not the original one, etc. Is there any solution for that? Does that mean that I cannot use 2lines with whatsapp plus? Too many questions. Sorry I am new to this. .

Instead of a SIM card you can get a Virtual Phone Number. Calls made to the Virtual Phone Number will ring to your existing phone, and you can return calls through a system so that number shows up on CallerID. Many services also offer SMS. I've used Tossable Digits in the past, you can get a number for $3.49/month. If you email their support, they can enable SMS for you (it's not public yet). Google their name for details.

Is it possible tot do something Like that for free? I've a Nexus 7(rooted) and a phone with whatsapp and i want whatsapp on both of them with one number.
